R : Fetch Cursor - Select Cursor

Scenario I
- use an OPEN Cursor, Fetch Cursor and specify the MAXROWS parameter as
200, FORTE returns me only 1 row.About Scenario I: you MUST surround your open-fetch-close cursor cycle by a
begin transaction - end transaction statement.
That is, your code should appear as follows:
begin transaction
open cursor...
fetch cursor...
do what you want...
close cursor...
end transaction.
Hope this helps.
Greetings.

Oggetto: Fetch Cursor - Select Cursor
Data: gioved 13 marzo 1997 19.42
Hi Folks,
I am using a PREPARE to dynamically create a SELECT statement. when I
Scenario I
- use an OPEN Cursor, Fetch Cursor and specify the MAXROWS parameter as
200, FORTE returns me only 1 row.
Scenario II
- use a SELECT using the prepared select statment, the number of rows in
the Dataset returned by FORTE is 0.
Am I doing something wrong here ? missing any step? We are running
on ver 2.0.h.0.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch,

I had this problem and solved it by wrapping the OPEN, FETCH, & CLOSE
cursor statements in an explicit transaction. I'm sure this is related to
the dialog duration for the dbSession object you are using.

  • Cursor tips : refresh data fetched by the cursor within run time,discussion

    Hello there,
    May be what I am asking about is kind of weird, but here is the Q:
    let us assume that I have cursor defined as follows:
    cursor emp_cursor is
            select EMPNO, ENAME, deptno
            from emp
            where deptno = 10 ;
    emp_rec  emp_cursor%rowtype;  then inside the loop through the data fetched by this cursor, I need to update some records, which might match the criteria of the cursor, by trying the following code segment:
    open emp_cursor;
          loop
            fetch emp_cursor into emp_rec;
            exit when emp_cursor%notfound;
            "PROCESS THE RECORD'S DATA "
            DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line('count of the records: ' || emp_cursor%rowcount);
            DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line('deptno: ' || emp_rec.deptno);
            DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line('emp no: ' || emp_rec.empno);
            update emp
            set deptno = 10
            where empno= 7566;
            commit;
            DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line('after the update');
          end loop;
          close emp_cursor; but the run never shows the record of employee 7566 as one record of the cursor, may be this is the execution plan of the cursor,
    but for the mentioned case, need to re-enter those updated records to the cursor data, to be processed, ( consider that the update statement is conditioned so that not executed always)
    any hints or suggestion
    Best Regards,

    Not possible. You'd have to close and re-open the cursor in order to pick up any changes made to the data after the cursor was opened.Then close and re-open it to get any changes made while processing the second iteration, then close and re-open it to get any changes made while processing the third iteration ad infinitum :-)I'm not claiming there are no downsides to the process :-)
    On a serious note, though, the requirement itself is exceedingly odd. You most likely need to rethink your solution so that you remove this requirement. Otherwise, you're likely going to end up querying the same set of rows many, many, many times.

  • Case statement and Decode function both are not working in Select cursor.

    I have tried both the Case statement and Decode function in Select cursor, but both the things are not working. On the other hand both the things work in just select statement.
    See the first column in select (PAR_FLAG), I need to have this evaluated along with other fields. Can you please suggest some thing to make this work. And also I would like to
    know the reason why decode is not working, I heard some where Case statement do not work with 8i.

  • Print only cursor-selected area of a PDF in Acrobat Pro, just as it is psbl to do in a browser

    Hi
    I want to print only cursor-selected area of a PDF in Acrobat Pro. That could be both text and images, which are in my selection. Just as it is psbl to do in a browser. Is it possible in Acrobat PRO?
    I am using the latest Acrobat Pro 11.0.9

    Thanks for your effort but this again clearly does NOT answer my question. I do see a particular problem and that is that I might want to select text and images over a range of multiple pages. In a doc of 20 pages I might want to make a single selection of the text starting PRECISELY at the MIDDLE of page 2 and then continue dragging my selection all the way to PRECISELY the MIDDLE of page 15, thereby selecting all text and images within the precise range of my selection. That is some 13 pages there and I want to print out ONLY THAT selection of text and images. And in that case I cannot use your suggestion with the marquee zoom. Do you get me?

  • DBMS_XMLQuery behavior when using stored function within cursor select

    Consider the following SQL Statement
    select t1.id
    , t1.name
    , cursor ( select t2.id
    from tab t2
    where t2.t1_id
    = t1.id
    and validate(t2.xyz,:bd1)
    = 1
    from tab t1
    where t1.id = :bd2
    DBMS_XMLQuery is used to create a context and to bind the appropriate values. In this case 'validate' is a stored function. I get the following error message upon execution:
    ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1
    Issuing a similar statement in SQL*Plus works fine. I was wondering whether this is a known issue when using a stored function in the cursor select statement in the context of DBMS_XMLQuery or whether I'm doing something wrong.

    Hi Jan,
    This problem has been identified and fixed. The fix should be available in the next release. Thank you for bringing this up to our attention.

  • How to display properties of a selected cursor when several cursors are available?

    I have a list of 8 cursors and would like to show the information of one cursor (which the user has slected) in the cursor legend of the graph. But I dont want to expand the whole cursor legend until all cursor properties are visible because it occupies too much space in the front panel.
    How do I get the index of the cursor the user has selected? I tried the "selected cursor" property but when I moved different cursors its value didnt change!

    I don't think it's possible to chagne the actual cursor legend. It is simple to create your own for just the active cursor. I've attached an example in LabVIEW 7.

  • Optimal number of records to fetch from Forte Cursor

    Hello everybody:
    I 'd like to ask a very important question.
    I opened Forte cursor with approx 1.2 million records, and now I am trying
    to figure out the number of records per fetch to obtain
    the acceptable performance.
    To my surprise, fetching 100 records at once gave me approx 15 percent
    performance gain only in comparsion
    with fetching records each by each.
    I haven't found significant difference in performance fetching 100, 500 or
    10.000 records at once.In the same time, fetching 20.000
    records at once make a performance approx 20% worse( this fact I cannot
    explain).
    Does anybody have any experience in how to improve performance fetching from
    Forte cursor with big number of rows ?
    Thank you in advance

    You can do it by writing code in start routine of your transformations.
    1.If you have any specific criteria for filtering go with that and delete unwanted records.
    2. If you want to load specific number of records based on count, then in start routine of the transformations loop through source package records by keeping a counter till you reach your desired count and copy those records into an internal table.
    Delete records in the source package then assign the records stored in internal table to source package.

  • Can not get text selection cursor to change to column selection cursor

    Hi, Thank You for any time and help .
    I'm new to InDesign, and I'm hoping to use the new feature of moving columns / rows.
    But, I can not get the text cursor to change into the column or row selection cursor.
    I am able to get the resize cursor, or use the ctrl+3 shortcut to select the entire column,
    but I can not get the downward pointing arrow cursor to select the column, and/or move it.
    Sometimes the row selection cursor will appear, and some rows can be moved, but I have been unable to move the columns.
    Thanks again, all my best

    Thank You Sumit !
    That does appear to work, but not in all cases?
    Example: 9/12/2014 10:44:14 AM - YouTube  <--quick vid capture of issue.
    I am able to select and move columns and rows, but columns appear to need a 'clean' column to work / move?
    Thanks again, I sincerely appreciate it!

  • Wrong orientation of text selection cursor

    I've OCR'ed a PDF document with page orienation "portrait" using Acrobat Pro XI with setting "exact image".
    Unfortunately the text selection cursor has the wrong orientation, its orientation is "horizontal" but should be "vertical" as the text is written from left to right (German) in the document.
    Any ideas how to change the cursor orientation?
    Thanks.

    I have got the same problem. Text ocr-ed with with setting "exact image", too - don't know if that matters. The problem might be indepedent from that.
    The proble mist a real pain. It heavily disturbes text selection an marking.
    Unfortunately I don't have a solution.

    Hejdo,
    Have you tried to repair permissions, and check/repair disk? Looks like some Finder plist file getting corrupted after a little use of your computer. Also, you could try and create a new user account, and log in onto this new account, to check if your problems exist on this new account too. If not, then something is going awry on your own (admin?) account; if not, well, then your issue is system-wide.

    then i clicked near 7, then using the navigation button (on the right side), i've increased the Y value. Cursor 0 is selected but, the Y value of Cursor 2 is incremented.
    Many Customers are having problem with this. Please help.
    Thanks

  • Reg. cursor-selection in module pool....have ur points.

    Hi all,
    Pleas. help me with  a simple example of at cursor-selection in module pool programming.
    with simple code & steps
    <b>Have ur points.</b>
    Regards,
    [email protected]

    Hi Pradeep,
    The Best explanation with example comes from our help.sap.com....
    <i><b>http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/9f/dbabbd35c111d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm</b></i>
    Also this might help...
    <b>MODULE mod [ AT {EXIT-COMMAND|CURSOR-SELECTION} ]
    [ ON {CHAIN-INPUT|CHAIN-REQUEST} ]
    [ SWITCH switch ].
    ... AT CURSOR-SELECTION</b>
    The AT CURSOR-SELECTION addition at the event PAI causes the module mod to be called only if
    The function used to trigger event PAI has function code "CS" and function type "S"
    The cursor is placed on a single input or output field of the screen at the moment of the user action
    The call occurs within the usual PAI processing, meaning that the automatic input checks defined in the system or in the ABAP Dictionary are executed and the MODULE statement is called according to its position in the event block. You can use the addition in connection with the FIELD statement.
    If the PAI event is triggered under the above circumstances, the function code is not passed to sy-ucomm and the OK field. They keep their previous values.
    <b>Note</b>
    The function type and function code of a function are determined in the Screen Painter or in the Menu Painter. We recommend to assign function code "CS" in the Menu Painter to function key F2 in order to simultaneously assign the double-click function of the mouse to it. This allows you to assign dialog modules to the selection of input or output fields.

  • Select cursor reference XY Graph

    Question... I have a XY graph.
    This graph has 3 cursors. Now I want to be able to select cursor 1, 2 or 3. And then edit some property nodes, like line style, width, color.
    How do I do this? Because I can only get 1 cursor reference... that of the active cursor.
    Regards,
    Wouter
    Solved!

    I just ran into the same problem - I'm glad I found this solution.
    Having said that, it's a rather unintuitive way to handle multiple cursor references. This should be improved in a future update.

  • Mixed Signal Graph, Selected Cursors, and Cursor Position Problems

    I'm trying to work around an issue with a single multiplot cursor on a mixed-signal graph (doesn't work right, R&D bug report #100830) by grabbing the selected cursor x-position and updating that position across all four cursors, as seen below:
    However, I'm having two problems.
    One, the selected cursor is not always the actual selected cursor.  Quite often, especially when selecting and dragging cursors 3 & 4 (indexed 2 & 3), the selected cursor shows up as 0 or 1.
    Two, and the one I'm more concerned about, is the fact that the four cursors X-positions never completely line up.  In every case, whichever cursor is deemed to be "selected", the other three will align to some point (the same for all three) that is offset from the actual value.  Please note that the X-values in my demonstration are identical (1000 points from 0.001 to 1) so I don't see this as being some snap issue where the value is offsetting to the closest available on the other arrays.
    I've attached my scratchpad demo.vi as an illustration.
    Any help or insight is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike Webster

    I believe I found where the issue resides at least and a workaround.  This is a problem with XY graphs in general when trying to programmatically control the cursor position.  Somehow, the software goes looking for the nearest point instead of the identical point and has some sort of issue with its search algorithm.  Switching from attempting to match position to copying the cursor 'index' completely cleared up the problem I was having.  In the particular application I'm working on, the four graphs have identically spaced data on the X-axis, so this solution should work fine for me.
