Random encore question

Why did Adobe choose loop playback numbers 2, 3, 17, 20, 40, 128, 1024 (excluding "none" and "forever") in Encore? There has to be a reason for choosing those numbers.

Yes, inquiring minds want to know....
And it might be Sonic/Roxio that had the reason.
But, in the end, you select OR TYPE your own value. So it won't matter.

  • Random test questions quiz results not working

    I have a project with random test questions. It's published in HTML5...Each time I play the project in preview, the test results are accurate and correct at the end...However after I have published the project to my site, all the random test questions are NOT accurately scored in at the end of the quiz...It's tells me basically I got all the questions wrong, when in fact the on each questions my display is clearly stating it's correct.
    If I move the question out of the random test questions and back into the main project...it is scored correctly, but once it's back in the "pools" area, it is scored incorrectly in the final tally as a random test question...Don't have a clue why this is...it's really been time consuming trying to fix it...and my fortune so far fixing anything to do with Captivate is really low! Buggy! I'm using Captivate 8, so have no idea...
    Anyone have any idea what is going on?

    So obvious I don't know why I didn't think of that. LOL
    Many thanks that works.
    It would appear that the only way to adjust the pause is to add time to the
    slide as I am unable to slide the pause back.  But changing the slide of 3
    secs to 3.1 does work.
    Is there an easy way to do this for ALL slides or do I just have to  do it
    one by one.
    Again many thanks

  • Random Security questions?!?!

    Okay what the ****, go to purchase some apps on my new ipad and it tells me i have to verify my identity so it starts asking me all these random security   questions that I've never even gave answers to in the first place. Now i have one try left and I'm looked out. Really apple?

    We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
    If you log into your account via http://appleid.apple.com and select the Password And Security section are you able to set them ? If not then is there a reset link underneath the questions (the link will only show if you have a rescue email address on your account) ?
    If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
    When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

  • Randomized Quiz Questions in CP7: Back button goes forward

    I've checked my on enter and on exit fields. Not sure why, but my randomized quiz questions' back buttons go forward. Very odd. Is there a setting I should check?
    It is worth noting that the back button is clearly not the forward button... checked in properties.
    Also, I need the student to be able to reanswer this question until they get it right, at which time the question stays answered.

    Yes sir. Thanks for the reply, Rod. I was hoping you were on =)
    I buy pretty much all of your stuff... went through the whole troubleshooting guide.
    Just noticed that "Branch Aware" is on, and it is a linear lesson. Going to try turning that off.

  • Setting project default file locations and a few random interface questions

    I apologize for the randomness of this post, but it seemed better than spamming a bunch of different posts in a short period of time.  I've been using Premiere Elements 9 for about 6 months now and there are a few little things that I'd like to tweak.
    I'd like to change the default file save location for a project.  I've got different projects in different folders and it seems like I should be able to set a default save location for each project.  All I've ever been able to find in the help is how to set the scratch folder, which is different.
    I'd like to change the default encoding preset for a project.  For example, I have a custom preset for mp4 under the mobile phone category.  It would be nice to have that be the default whenever I pick the mobile phone category.
    With birthdays and concerts and plays and all that stuff I have about 50 videos and a couple hundred large photos already.  Every time Premiere loads, it takes a few extra seconds to load up all of the thumbnails.  I hide all the videos and pictures on the Organize tab and save the project, but it never sticks.  Is this just impossible?
    Finally, every so often, the end-of-clip marker acts funny.  I don't know what the proper name for it is, but it is the thing under the mouse cursor in the picture below.  It used to automatically move on the time line as I added or deleted clips.  Somehow I clicked a button and it no longer does that.  After a week or so of not working, it goes back to automatically adjusting as I add and delete clips from the timeline and then it will break again.  Ideas?
    Also in the timeline, I now have this huge gap of nothingness on top of video 1, see picture.  My ocd says that Video1 and Audio 1 should be at the very top and the gap should be on the bottom.  Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    I kind of wish you'd have spread these questions out over a couple of posts so that we could answer each thoroughly. If I answer all of them in depth in a single post, this answer would be the size of one of my books! (which, by the way, contain many of the answers to these questions.)
    1. The default save location for your videos should be the last place you've saved your video to. So that should happen automatically. Although in my books I recommend that, whenever you start a new project, you create a new folder for it. This is good housekeeping and a good way to keep your tmp and render files in the same place on your drive, which has a number of advantages.
    2. You can't create a custom project preset. The only presets available are the ones Adobe provides. And, although they are pretty extensive, some non-traditional formats (like video from some mobile phones) are not well supported. You may be able to get it to work -- but it's usually a hybrid solution and, personally, if you plan to use your phone's video as your main video source, I'd recommend you look at another video editing program. Premiere Elements doesn't do the hybrid stuff well. It's ideally suited for video from traditional camcorders.
    3. The thumbnails you see when the program loads are not in your current project. At least not until you import them into your Project panel. That Media panel is merely a preview to what's in your Organizer catalog. As I explain in my book, it's usually best to ignore this panel until you really learn your way around the basics of this program. It's very confusing. Fortunately, it adds very little load time to the program itself -- regardless of how much time it seems to add.
    4. The thing in the illustration is the Work Area Bar. It's used to isolate a segment of your timeline for rendering, etc. Usually, it will shrink and grow as you add and remove video from your timeline. Unfortunately, there's a bug in version 9 and, if you manually change it once during a project, you'll have to manually change it for the rest of the time you work on the project. But, if you drag each end of the Work Area Bar to cover your entire timeline of videos, your project shouldn't misbehave.
    5. The "gap of nothingness" on your timeline is just room for you to add more audio and video tracks if you'd like to. It's a good thing to have! BTW, as I'm sure you know (and my books, once again, explain) you can toggle the tracks on your timeline so that they display as either compressed (as in your illustration) or wide open, which allows you to see your clips and control audio and video levels. Once again, this is a very good thing!
    Happy moviemaking.

  • Questions are not randomizing in question pool

    I have 30 questions in my question pool.  I have 10 random question slides but everytime I go to quiz, the same 10 questions come up.   I need help in troubleshooting this, please.

    Once you launch a module and it sets up the specific questions that will be selected from the pool for that session, those are the only 10 questions you are going to see, no matter how many times you hit the Retake Quiz button.  That is normal behaviour.
    However, if you close down the module entirely and relaunch again at a later time, in theory you should stand a chance of seeing at least some different quiz questions.  If you are consistently seeing EXACTLY THE SAME set of 10 quiz questions even after completely closing down and relaunching the session again, then that would be regarded as a randomization failure and you should report the bug to Adobe.

  • Reporting Interaction ID from Random Quiz Questions

    I have a Captivate 5 project that includes a Question Pool of 30 questions and I need to only show 10 random questions to a user (all multiple choice).  I have this all set up and each question in the question pool has a unique SCORM Interaction ID.  Project is published to use SCORM 2004 and set to report answers and interactions to the LMS.
    When running the couse in the LMS the only interaction ID being saved is for the first question that is displayed from the pool.  No interaction data is being saved for the other 9 questions.  Final score is also saving OK.
    How do I get Interaction data for each random question?
    Thanks for anyone's help!!!

    Here is an example of what is happening on my random question slides:
    Here you see the roll-over boxes showing on the quiz screen (Static Head box, Stoker box, Muffler Box)
    Anyone have any idea as to why this may be happening?

  • PP2 to Encore Questions (Several Subjects)

    I am getting close to wrapping up a 1.5 hr. project in PP2, that will go to EncoreDVD2. I posted a similar thread to the PP2 Forum, to get ideas on how best to get my material out of PP2 and into Encore. Got a lot of good ones, plus a few warnings, that I am taking to heart. If you saw the similar post there, this is about the same, but to get ideas/help for the Encore part of the project. Also, since this covers Assets, Import/Export, Menus, etc., I posted it the general area of the forum. Hope that this is not a problem.
    Ive done several projects of this length, or longer, in PP2 and burned a few directly to DVD from PP2, but usually Export as AVI, Import into EncoreDVD and do the authoring and burning from there. To date, I have not done any other form of Export, say discrete audio/video streams, etc.
    This Project has 15 Sequences, ranging from 04:00' up to 15:00' and Dolby 5.1 Master (Minnitonka SurCode plugin) for each. I plan on doing Chapters from the 15 Sequences in EncoreDVD, plus a Play All, and probably some other navigation tools - nothing really fancy. Sequence 01 will be a Play First, going to a Main Menu (see below), from which one can select Play All, or go to Scene Selection Menus. One of the warnings from the PP2 Forum was about my Dolby 5.1 audio. I had forgotten that Encore will convert it to stereo, unless I Export each one as a WMA file. After all of the work getting the placement of my Audio Tracks, just right, Id hate to loose that.
    Recommendations were made about whether to Transcode to MPG in PP2 (separate A/V files), or to Export via AVI (again, separate A/V files), and letting Encore do the Transcode. I plan on testing the two Export methods, to see which one yields the best quality. All audio editing will be done in PP2 & Audition and complete there. Other than the 15 Sequences, the only EncoreDVD assets will be audio & video, and the various elements for the Menus, plus short audio for each. Ive been reassured that the encoding engines in the two programs are the same. I do not anticipate having any problems with fitting the finished material onto DVD, but could use DL, if necessary. I also believe that I will be well within the 1GB limit on the Menus. The only output will be to DVD for set-top players, no ROM content, no computer play, etc. It is just the final step in the process (in EncoreDVD) workflow, that I am asking about.
    Now my questions: Any thoughts, suggestions, caveats? Id like to let Encore fit the project to DVD, either +R, or DL, but can do the bitrate calculations for the AV aspects. One thing has me puzzled, though, how do I calculate the Menu assets used, to get the best bitrate under 7? There will also be short audio for the Main & Scene Selection Menus. In PP2, all Im dealing with is the time and bitrate, and can do that. However, there is still the matter of the Menus and their few assets.
    Also, I plan on having a Motion Menu for my Main Menu. It will basically be a chalk board, onto which the title of the film will be written. Then the buttons and other nav. items will appear, but just be artwork/static. This will be replaced by the real menu, that will identical to the final look of the first one. Reading this forum, it appears that I need to do at least two, nearly identical menus. One, the blank chalkboard, then the animation of the chalk writing (thinking of doing this via PS Layers), which will just be each complete letter appearing, not drawn in. Now, the nav. items would fade in, but not be workable on this image. At this point, it would go to the real menu, with the chalk writing in place and all of the buttons, etc. active. I assume that I would set up my Flowchart, as Sequence 01 Play First, and link it to my faux-menu, animating the writing, etc. Link that to my real Main Menu, linking the various buttons, i.e. Play All to my Playlist, and the others to my Selection Menus, which would then have the various Sequences linked normally. D

    >One thing has me puzzled, though, how do I calculate the Menu assets used, to get the best bitrate under 7?
    That's the beauty of Encore's Automatic transcode function. It accounts for all your assets - menus, motion buttons, audio, etc. - to make the video assets fit onto the selected DVD size at the best possible bitrate.

  • 4 Basic Random HANA Questions

    First, I would like to apologise if my questions sound too basic, I'm still new and trying to understand HANA.
    1) HANA database will be physically located in memory, or I guess we can say CPU.  When I think of database I always think server. Can it be called HANA server?
    2) Can reporting be done in HANA? Does HANA provide a tool within it's application that can do reporting? Or is another reporting tool needed like BWA, BO, BI, etc? If so, which are compatible with HANA?
    3) Architecture Question:
    a) When data is submitted in R/3 (ex. sales order), the data is stored on R/3 server, then replicated in near real time via Sybase to HANA database? Is this how it works?
    b) Why is Sybase a server, Is the data being replicated stored on Sybase server first before being transferred to HANA database? If so, there are 2 servers (R/3 & Sybase) and 1 Memory (HANA)?
    4) Inside In-Memory Computing Studio, Modeling is where the tables are chosen to be replicated. If I chose table XYZ to be replicated in SAP HANA, will the replication automatically create a copy of the table in SAP HANA?
    5) Is there a need to learn any ABAP/4 to be involved in HANA? Can I be an expert in HANA without knowing ABAP/4?
    Thanks in advance, and again I apologies for my noobish questions.

    Here are random answers:
    1) Yes, there is HANA server (hardware machine(s)) and HANA database server (software). HANA server has RAM (lots of it), SSDs and traditional HDD storage. HANA db uses all of those, including CPU cache of course.
    2) You can report using SBO BI or MS Excel (please see earlier thread on this forum). You can use HANA studio for preview of tables/views content, but it isnot reporting tool per se.
    3) Data can be replicated using SAL LT Replicator (ABAP-based), SBO DataServices and in some cases using Sybase Replication Server. Please have a look at recently recorded webinar at http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/khnc
    4) That's the idea. Details depend on the replication mechanism chosen.
    5) No, but it does not hurt to know ABAP. You would need to learn HANA-specific language called "SQLScript" if you go deep into HANA-based development.

  • Random Test questions without duplication

    Hi ,
    I have 10 questions in my java program,
    I can get them randomly generated but how can I do without duplication ?
    Any help much appreciated

    Im just trying to shufle this list , when I print it , it gives always gives the same order , I tought shuffle would do it randomly, any help please ?
    import java.util.*;
    public class SetExample {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    List list = new ArrayList();
    list.add("Bernadine");
    list.add("Elizabeth");
    list.add("Gene");
    list.add("Elizabeth");
    list.add("Clara");

  • Random T5i Question

    Hi Everyone,
    First time posting because I cannot find an answer to my really random question.  I work with a system that uses the T4i, we are slowly upgrading all the cameras to a T5i.  The one thing that has always worked before with the T4i is that while connected to the computer via usb, I was able to push the pop up flash button to pop up the flash, whiel still tethered.  Now I have the T5i in the exact same configuration and while connected to the computer, I cannot use the button to pop up the flash unless I unplugg the usb connection.  Is this some silly new feature that I am not seeing anywhere in the menu?  I do not use the EOS Utility with the system I am using, because I know in the Utility it has the button to pop up your flash, which I don't want, I want to be able to hit the lighting bolt button and pop it up manually.  Any answers would be awesome, I am perplexed by this weird change in the camera between the T4i and the T5i.  Thanks in advance!

    That's odd, given that they're almost identical cameras.  There were hardly any differences in the T5i "upgrade": some changes to Live View, a coating on the plastic body, and a knob that can turn 360 degrees.
    I suppose it's possible that they inadvertantly changed this function when making the modifications to Live View and the display.  But the changes really aren't that significant, nor related.
    Sorry, I can't really offer any advice.  Though I'm curious why you're spending the money to upgrade from T4i to T5i?

  • Random macintosh question

    this is a pretty random question...but i want to know if you plug anything (such as a digital camera that is compatible with macs) into a usb port it works automatically. and that you don't have to install any software like you you would have to do for Windows.
      Windows XP

    The USB specification allows for Generic device types. Storage being one (which many cameras, MP3 players, and usb memory drives use), Mice/keyboards being another, audio devices, etc.
    If the item you plug in follows the specifications for one of the generic device types then you shouldn't need a driver. If that item talks in its own special way you will.
    Most cameras, usb drives, etc. use the generic storage driver, these devices will work on both Mac OS X and Windows XP without any drivers. Note that on Windows XP some of these devices may have a driver to add extra features.
    The best way to find out is to plug it in. If nothing happens you probably need a driver, or some software to talk with the item. To check if the computer sees it at all you can go into /Applications/Utilities/System Profiler, and click on USB to see what the computer thinks is connected to its USB ports.

  • Random Pink Question marks in text, help!

    Hey guys! I'm a student studying in indesign on one of my modules and am a little bit stuck with something and wondered if you could help! I've done my text in word, got rid of spacing etc but when i put it into indesign ive got these little pink question marks where i'm trying to quote a film or place like 'Harry Potter...'. How do i change it so that these little question marks disappear?
    Thanks so much in advance

    Use a different font, one that has those characters defined, or change the mark.
    It sounds like you've used some symbol that doesn't exist in the chosen font. Word will accomodate you by silently using a substitute font, which leads to this kind of probelm when you import the text into ID.

  • Encore question - @Bill

    Sorry guys ...need a quick answer please  and I see Bill is in the house..
    How do I make a DVD Loop. (Never done it previously except in Encore 2 out of CS2 where the option was right up front)
    I am in Encore CS3 at the moment

    OK, offer 'em a glass of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, and charge my account. You want to burn at less than max, regardless of how many folk are in the next room. I probably go a tad overboard here, choosing speeds like 2.4x, but a moment (and that is really all it is) in the burner can make a difference in playability. And, as you know, so can the choice of the blank media - Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden have NEVER let me down with now right at 2K discs delivered. Don't use those Aussie Memorex counterfeits... Now, I know that no good citizen of NZ would counterfeit anything.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • One more java random number question

    which of the following codes are correct to generate a random number between start and end inclusively. Both methods seem to be working for me but im pretty sure one would be incorrect
    int num = (int)(start + (Math.random() * (end-start)));
    int num = (int)(start+1 + (Math.random() * (end-start)));

    I say neither of them work. Let's use 5 and 8 as our start and end. In the Math class, random() is said to generate a random number, x, where 0 <= x < 1.
    The first one:
    First, multiply by 8 - 5 (3).
    0 <= x < 3
    Then, add 5.
    5 <= x < 8
    Then, casting to an int, we get a number 5 - 7.
    The second one:
    First, multiply by 8 - 5 (3).
    0 <= x < 3
    Then, add 6.
    6 <= x < 9
    Then, casting to an int, we get a number 6 - 8.
    The "correct" way:
    int num = (int) (Math.random() * (end - start + 1) + start);First, multiply by 8 - 5 + 1 (4).
    0 <= x < 4
    Then, add 5.
    5 <= x < 9
    Then, casting to an int, we get a number 5 - 8.
