Range Expander's Link Light Blinks to Red

I have configured my range expander using the installation Wizard CD ROM and
it tells me CONGRATULATIONS, config is completed successfully, however, I
notice the link light on the expander blinks to red every few seconds, systematically, like on queue. Did I miss anything? The PC with the Linksys wireless NIC detects a very strong signal but it cannot connect to the Internet. Is this link blinking to red the reason. What can I do?
Thanks for any advice you can provide in this forum.

Thanks for your response. I have a WRT54G router. What is interesting is that
I actually cabled up the RE to my router and then typed 192.168.1.240 on my
web browser and received the prompt to logon. I logged in successfully but to a
blank screen. It accepted my login information and then nothing. Is the router
somehow preventing me from seeing the RE?
Without being able to see the RE I can verify anything. Have you run into a similar
problem?

  • WRE54G Range Expander Setup Issues

I am having multiple difficulties, and having tried many of the strategies on the forums here, I am still not having any luck.
If I have the RE plugged in with no ethernet cable, I don't get far before I hit that "Site Survey Failed" message. Per manu commenters on here, I switched to trying connecting with a wire.
When I try and connect that way, I can get past the site survey failed message, but just when things look promising, I get hit with "WRE54G can not associate with this AP in repeater mode".
I have tried resetting RE to factory defaults
I have tried with and without the wire
I can see the LinksysRxxxxx wireless device in my connection list with Excllent Signal Strength
I have tried connecting to that and then connecting to 192.168.1.240 ... but the browser cannot find that page
I have tried connecting to 192.168.1.240 through my wireless connection, and through my wired connection ... nothing there either.
I have tried changing the Gateway to match the IP address for my router (192.168.2.1) - nope (also tried setting it to my internet ip address -- nope)
I think if I could get the browser to find that 192.168.1.240 page, things would work better, but I can't get that no matter what I try.
    Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Well, I got to the actual "setup page" on 192.168.1.240. My particular issue was that my default gateway on my Router was 192.168.2.1 (note the 2.1 as opposed to the 1.1) Once I changed my default router setting, I was able to access the setup page where I followed the instructions from this post:
    http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Range-Expanders/WRE54G-v3-Easy-Foolproof-setup-instructions/td-p/1...
The bad news for me, now, is that once I unplug the RE from the ethernet cable, I can no longer access the 192.168.1.240 page. The LINK light blinks between Red and Blue. I am not quite sure where to go on this one, but this has been a very frustrating experience to say the least :-/
I tried upgrading the firmware. I needed to get online support for the upgrade file, and each time I tried I got upgrade failed. /sigh hopefully that is just a red herring for now.
I might try the entire process again, after I reset my RE to factory default. I'll let you know if anything changes, but I am not suspecting it will, as I was pretty careful with all the steps and settings in the great instructions from the above noted post.

  • Can't use MAC Filter and have Blinking Red Link Light on WRE54G

I just added a WRE54G V3 extender to my WRT54G V8,  I have download the most recent firmware on both products.  My network in using WPA and after fixing all the typo associated with setting all that up I still could not establish wireless connectivity.  I am/was using MAC Filters on the WRT54G and had added and triple checked the WRE54Gs Mac address,, but until I disabled the Mac Filter I could not connect to the network.  I would like to get that issue resolved.  Secondly even with the MAC Filter disabled the Link Light blinks red at a regular interval.  It does appear that I have connectivity, but the light just blinks away.  If this is normal I could not find any reference is the written materal.  Thanks for any advice you might have.

Sorry to appear toltake so long to get back to this, but I did post a message in reply somewhere ????, but it doesnt appear here??? and then I got tied up on some personal stuff.
Anyway, I followed all the advice I could find on this thread (thanks to everyone who has posted to any question on this thread) and after starting completely over reseting everything and basically configuring the RE with everything else turned off and then powering up everything starting with the router, I got everything up and running using WAP and all.
The only issue left is when I enable MAC filtering on the router to allow only the MAC addresses in the list access to the network the RE goes belly up.  Disable Mac filtering and it comes right back up.  I have triple checked the Mac address I entered on the list.  The only reference to the RE's MAC address is on the sticker on the back.  I can't find that verified anywhere in the configuration screens on the RE.
If I could get his working I could count my security as good as it gets and go on about my business.
Thanks again to all for helping me get this far.

  • Apple Airport AP to WRE54G to WRE54G limited connectivity between range expander.

I have successfully performed a link between an
Apple Airport and one WRE54G by setting IP address of WRE54G to 10.0.1.100; Mac 255.255.255.0; gateway address 10.0.1.1: security disabled; identical SSID; and channel 1.  The second WRE54G was given a different IP address of 10.0.1.101 with other settings identical to first WRE54G.  The range expanders will link (both lights blue) when the expanders are within range of the AP.  However, when the second expander is out of range of the AP but within range of the second expander, the link light stays blue for 4 seconds and red for 1second, approximately.  A PC near the second expander exhibits strong signal but limited connectivity.  Is there a way to configure the expanders so that they can be linked together on the infrastructure?

first off let me know "apple airport" support WDS (wireless distribution system) if it doesn't support WDS, i don't think expander would work with it...

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

hi..im new at here..ive got problem with my bb torch 9800..last day after charging my phone..it cant turn on and the red light blinking..ive tried connect my phone to computer but it cant recognize my devise..ive tried many way to solve it like using BBSAK but it still cant connect to my devise..id tried using blackberry devise manager software but the problem still exist..really2 need ur help now..
*ive update my phone OS to the latest one..didnt know if that is the problem..need ASAP..

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I am very confused by your post. You say you can't connect your device...to your computer? If so, how did you manage to upgrade the BB OS? Given that, from what you've described, you can use BBSAK, that would require connecting to your computer, but then you say you can't. So I'm confused.
Please try posting again, and be 100% clear about exactly what the symptom is that you wish to resolve, exactly all of the steps you have attempted (e.g., "like using BBSAK" isn't enough...what, exactly, did you do with BBASK?), and exactly the results of each step of what you have attempted.
    Thanks and let us know!

  • Z10 doesn't restart and red light blinking only.

    Hi,
My z10 phone was normally working, and sometimes it's don't response and hang. last time i tried to restart and it's took long time and i used blackberry link and did software update. in between software update was completed but it was not run. i got problem. Red light blinking.
even i charge it or restart, Red light blinking.
after i face this problem, i tried to slove by autoloader, new BB link and many more action done. Nothing work.
it might be mother board problem???? but i am not technician.
We cann't buy easily motherboard also.
I think Blackberry is totally **bleep**.... Since i have used blackberry storm , storm 9860 and z10 al are **bleep**.

I think BlackBerry is totally awesome...Since I have used BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, Bold, Z10, Q10, and now Z30. All are awesome.
There are so many things that could cause your Z10 to fail. You could have gotten it wet, dropped it, stepped on it, or any other manner of abuse. It could also have just failed on it's own through no fault of your own. Since I know MANY people with BB10 devices right now, including 3 in my own household and another 3 assigned to some coworkers there is no problem with all BlackBerrys.

  • Z10 Red Light blink in 10111011, PC wont detect

Hi. The Z10 get stuck while i was using autoloader from blackberry developer site and never wake up again. The z10 is STL 100 -1.The telephone doesnt turn on, the screen is off, sometimes the red Light blink in 10111011. The PC doesnt recognize it. BB link doesnt too, update from the website too, and bootrom doesnt too. The cellphone doesnt charge, the battery is good (i try it in another z10 and was on 60% charge during the problem). Some solution?? thnx

i was using autoloader from blackberry developer siteI have to guess that to be the root of the problem. Those OS packages are (typically) intentionally crippled, with various things left out of them or otherwise intentionally damaged for the development purpose. They are never intended for normal operations, and never for normal users. I recommend you reload an official OS, first try via LINK and if that fails obtain a proper user-level AutoLoader to install a proper OS to your device. Good luck and let us know!

  • Ix2 red light blinking after RAID 1 to RAID 0

Just bought a brand new Ix2 Lenovo unit. Quick start setup was easy, and I was able to connect to the unit. When trying to change disks to RAID 1 to RAID 0 through webpage configurator, it asked me to erase all data. I selected OK, since there was no data inside.
When building RAID after reboot, it goes to red light blinking. I have tried using manual reset button, but after few minutes with light blinking white, it goes to red again.
What did I do wrong?? Can you please help? It is a shame since I didnt have the unit for 24hrs.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Pemba21
If the unit has not passed the flashing white boot process, then there is something stalling the unit.
Did you run a factory reset from the web interface or from the rear pin-hole reset?
I recommend swapping the internal disks to opposite bays while the unit is powered off then try booting again.  It should only take about 5 minutes.
To access the disks, pull up on the faceplate and to unlatch it from the chassis, then pull the faceplate away from the chassis.  The disks will have a plastic tray that locks them in place.
If that does not seem to help, I recommend contacting LenovoEMC support to create an incident.

  • Q10 crashed. Red / Yellow Lights blinking

    Hi,
My Q10 crashed yesterday night and I havent been able to switch it on since then.
The red light was blinking every ten seconds. I plugged it in for charging for a few hours. On unplugging from the charging, the blackverry logo would flash and then go back to a red light. The phone tried to restart a few times and then the phone went dead. I changed the battery from my other Q10 and the battery is working fine in the other phone but the new battery still did not charge the phone.
I left it on the charging for the night but it is now blinking a red light followed by a yellow / green light and still not starting up.
I have tried to connect it with Blackberry Link and it shows the Q10 for a few second connected to my latop and then goes away.
I am thinking of using an autoloader but I dont know how that would work if the phone is does not start even.
Kindly help before I get a new phone. Thank you.

  • My Curve 9220 has a black screen and the LED light blinks red every 5 seconds

The phone won't come on and the light blinks red. I dont know what to do

    Hi there,
If you have a good battery or the batttery is good enough then try those steps , it may help :
    ( Credit JSanders )
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed. BlackBerry desktop software
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.  BlackBerry Software Download Site
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
    Good luck.

  • Pearl 8100-Rogers not turning on-Red light blinking

    Hello
I have new Blackberry Perl 8100.I got this from Rogers. It was sitting in box for few month.I tried turning on but it is not turning on.I left the phone in charge for more then 2 hour and it is still not turning on.
I tried taking out battery but and replacing back in but stillit is not turning on.I can only see red light blinking.nothing else.pls help me .thank you.

Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).
If it doesn't boot--try using a wall outlet charger if you are not. If you are connected via USB to the PC, make certain that you have Desktop Manager (or the USB device drivers) installed, which you can download below.
Make certain your USB cable is connected to one of the PC's main rear USB ports. Not a USB hub, nor a monitor USB port, nor a USB port on the front of the PC.
    Download Desktop Manager from here:

  • 8900 - Won't Power on. Red Light blinks only! Please help!

I have a Blackberry 8900 and this thing is driving me crazy!
To start, I woke up one morning and had a white scrreen and an error 502. I wasn't able to fix the issue immediately since I had class. I'm usually more attentive to my phone but I'm in law school. Anway, the next day I went to try to fix my phone, it would not power on at all. I just got the red light flash. When plugging it in to my computer, I got the sound it was connected but the AppLoader, JML_Cmder and DTM would not recognize the device. Frustrated, I put the phone aside again to concentrate on school.
So, I've decided to give this another shot but now it's gotten worse. The phone does nothing unless it's plugged up and it's still just that annoying red light blinking. I keep the phone plugged and remove the battery...still that blinking and the pattern is long pause, blink, short pause, blink, blink, blink repeat. Again, there is NO ACTIVITY when the phone is unplugged. Same thing when I plug it into my computer. The battery does not make a difference and doing a battery pull does not work. My computer does not recognize my device at all (no sounds, no connection, etc). I have tried to let it charge from a wall charger and it did nothing but that blink pattern for 12 hours.
Is there anything else I can do? It's an AT&T phone I purchased and use with T-mobile and both companies are being asses. Any last suggestions before I buckle and just throw the **bleep** thing away.
Again, I have tried the AppLoader through c:\program files\common files\research in motion\app loader, I have tried using the Command Prompt, I have tried JML_Cmder, I have tried the battery pull, I have re-installed both the DTM and the Blackberry USB and Modem drivers...
Anything else I could possibly try? Also, does anyone know what that blink pattern means?
And please don't suggest what I've listed already. Thanks!

Just to make sure you haven't missed a step, when you tried the Loader.exe file, did you try the steps to fix a nuked BlackBerry? The trick here is to remove the battery on the device, open the Loader.exe file, go to the second screen, then plug your phone in without the battery. As soon as your computer recognizes the phone, click next. This should be able to catch the JVM and allow access to reload the OS. Then once you get to the next screen, you can reinsert the battery.
If you have already tried that, then see if you can ensure that the battery is charged in another BlackBerry, or see if you can try another battery.
If none of that works, then let me know as there are still some other things we can come up with.
If you want to thank someone for their comment, do so by clicking the Thumbs Up icon.
If your issue is resolved, don't forget to click the Solution button on the resolution!
