RCD table getting too big

Hello,
Our rcd table is getting bigger (21 M records) and querying from that table takes up a lot of time.
What is the recommended way to keep the size of that table within control?
We can always create a materialized view to get a subset of that table so we can work with more recent records. However, this doesn't solve the problem of it getting bigger and bigger.
Do you get it purged or archived somehow?

Pages simply won't support a table with that many rows. If you need that many, you must use another application.
Perhaps the originator could use a tabbed list rather than a table. That's the only way you will be able to contain a list that long in Pages. You can do the conversion yourself if you open the Word document in LibreOffice, Copy the Table, Paste the Table into Numbers, Export the Numbers doc to CSV, and import to Pages. In Pages Find and Replace the Commas with Tabs.
There are probably other ways, but that's what comes to mind here.

Can a file get too big to load?

I have a file that is HD and I've been editing it for about two weeks. Its about 2 hours long and I just started adding livetype titles as its nearly complete.
But this afternoon, I had to reboot my computer and now the file wont reload (gets to 47% then says "file cannot be loaded.")
Did it go corrupt? Or is it more likely that I've just pushed the file's requirements past my system's memory allotment?
Even today's autosaved files wont load (so I had to go back to a saved version from earlier this week).
I have 3gb of memory installed. Is FCE trying to tell me I have to install memory?
Either way, if the file get's too big for the machine, why wouldn't FCE have crashed? The file closed down with no problems and this is the second time its happened.

I'm using 3.5 HD and the project file is 4.5MB
I'm starting to fear the problem has to do with the livetype movie inserts. The application didn't even hiccup until I started adding my title-ing sequences -- especially one particular psd import that uses a transparent background.
I'm going to give your suggestion a true and report back, though...

RSHIENODETMP Table getting to big

Hi we are using BI7
found out that this table RSHIENODETMP is getting to big.. from the sap notes we know that repot RSAR_HIETMPTAB_CLEAN could be use, to delete some old data from it.
The requirement of this program so it can be run, is using date to filter the deletion..
but we found out that the data inside this table, on the filed date from and date to are 00.00.0000
is this the normal behaviour of the table ?
because if we dont specify the correct date.. it will try to delete everything, and it will take out very long time, and lots of db resources..
any suggestions ?

If your hierarchies are not fully or partially time dependent, then you will have those dateto and datefrom fields 00.00.0000.
This is normal.
When you execute the program, you are asked to choose a date for the request. As you see in the table, first key is the request number. The date you enter for the program, will choose the requests related to the date and delete, nothing to do with those 00.00.0000 stuff.
P.S:
This the temporary table, to hold hier data loaded via idoc's. As I searched , this and some other temp tables should be normally filled with FM RSAR_HIER_FILL_TEMPTABLES and cleared with RSAR_HIER_UPLOAD_2ND_STEP during hier load.

Display unaccountably gets too big for the screen

This has happened maybe a dozen times, and I don't know what I did to make it happen. Suddenly, the desktop display gets too large for the screen, and I have to scroll around to find the dock or the menu bar. Whatever else I'm working on, e-mail, etc., gets outsized, too. Does anyone know how to correct this? So far, restarting has worked, but that's a pretty time-consuming way to do it.

Hold down the CNTL key and scroll down with the mouse or trackpad. That should change it back to size. This is called screen zoom.

In MS Word, it is possible to prevent tables from breaking at page breaks. So, if a table, when populated with data gets too big for the spae allotted on one page, the table will move in its entirety, to the next page. Can this be done in "Pages"?

I am trying to figure out ow to prevent tables from breaking along a row when there is a page break in "Pages". This is done in MS Word by going under Table properties under "Rows". I have a document with small three row tables and I want to keep the tables together and move to the next page in its entirety when there is a page break. Help!

The table that I don't want to break between rows looks like this, except it fits the width of the page:

I inserted a Inline Text box into the document, copied the table inside the text box, then pasted it through the document (which lists quilting projects). When the table spans a page break, even when in an inline text box, the picture which is in the right hand column splits, as well as the information pertaining to the particular quilt.

Trinidad table/form too big in mobile page

I was trying to emulate the demo at [http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11gdemos/ADFMobile/adfmobile.htm] using my own data. I can't seem to get trinidad tables/forms to fit as nicely as the demo does within a 240x320 screen at design time. I set the width to 100% with no success. What other property/template should I set?

Nevermind! Set the form font to be smaller and that helped.

Cartesian product of three dimensions - fact table is too big

Hi, I need some advice with OLAP design. I have tables with orders, customers and product types. My problem is that I want to know amount of orders for every combination of customer - date since customer was created - product type. I also need to filter
days when no order was made and the opposite (by dimension). Also customer have some interval of time when he is considered as a new customer and I need to filter this customers too (again by dimension).
Now I have got fact table filled with every combination of customer/product type/date and the number of orders with the bit flag - was a new customer. Problem is that I have aprox 100k customers, so this table has bilions of rows. Is there any other possible
solution? For browsing cube is used Excel where I cannot easily filter by measure/calculation.

It seems like every customer is a new customer at some point in time. So, you should probably store first order date in the customer table. Depending on the Date (Period) selected , a customer will become new, active or inactive. Also, create measures for
new customer sales, old customer sales. i.e. First order date + 30 days of the customer is less than last date in the period selected, it is new customer sales. I would assume that it would be difficult to do it in cube. Did you
try to solve the problem using SQL queries?

NIDAQ is getting too big!

NI is becoming like Microsoft! I realize that you manufacture many products but the time for device specific NIDAQ packages has come. I use one of your devices but I am forced to download and distribute a driver package that is almost 1GB and takes nearly an hour to install. Please, please, please change this. Let us get packages for just what we want! Small, simple and quick is good. Big, complex and slow is bad.

Hello Sunil,
It was decided by our R&D department to use the same driver for a
majority of our hardware and make it as easy to use as possible. This
way, as Alex said, using similar devices would not require major (or in
some case any) changes in code, and new applications would be easy to
program by someone familiar with any of our other devices. It also
simplifies troubleshooting, reduces the time to configure new devices
(after the first), and makes sure that all hardware is supported to the
same high level our customers expect.
A side effect of this decision (and the major issue with this approach)
is that the initial install is large and takes significant time. I
agree that this can be annoying, however after completed once, it should
not have to be done again when installing new devices. Upgrading,
although it is a large file, should not take nearly as long since it
only changes the parts that it needs to, or installs parts that are not
there. You can also unselect the drivers you do not use from the
Driver CD installer to shorten the time further.
The main reason that we cannot have a simple anti virus-like update is
due to the changes we are making for the upgrade. It is not just
updating settings or libraries, it is changing parts of the actual
driver code deep within the program. It is more comparable to a new
version release of the anti-virus software than an update to the virus
definitions.
Since the DAQmx driver is used for most of our hardware (or the driver
that is used is based off of it), the install/upgrades we have are as
device specific as they can be. The driver CD contains all of our
drivers, but allows you to choose which it installs/modifies.
If you are deploying the driver to a target computer, you can
drastically reduce the size of the installation by choosing a smaller
runtime of the DAQmx driver. The link that Alex provided, as well as this Developer Zone article discribes how to do that.
This being said, we are always looking for feedback on how we can improve. I would strongly encourage you to make a Product Suggestion about this.
R&D looks at all of these and uses them in their decision making
processes. I hope this explanation shows that we are not just giving
you a large download because its easy for us, but we believe the pros
of this method we use outweigh the cons (including the installer).

How to organize the iPhoto when it gets too big?

Hi, I have iPhoto library about 300GB which consumes most of my iMac space.
Would you please suggest the best way to organize the library?
I have been thinking to put the library on external device but worried about slow speed when iPhoto is opened.
I have been thinking to split the library but cannot open the libraries at the same time...
Any suggestions?
My iMac is 24inch early 2009, ML 10.8.1., 2.66 GHz, 4GB memory, 650GB HDD

Well that depends on you
first off you do not mention a backup system - that would be your first priority if you do not have one - without a good gackup you will lose all of you photos (and other file) sooner or later
My suggestion is to get a bigger hard drive
less good is to run iPhoto on an EHD with a fast connection (thunderbolt - firewire - USB2 or 3)
Splitting the library has many disadvantages - you can put the entire library on an EHD and have a second smaller library of current or more interesting photos on the main drive and use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to move new photos to the full library on the EHD so it stays current
You also can just delete poor and lower quality photos (with that many you must have some - I do ) - it is pretty fast to rate photos 1 to 5 stars and then delete the 1 star photos

Playback Bar suddenly gets too big after 15 slides

I'm publishing my first project in Captivate5, after using Captivate3 for several years.
I publish to SWF without HTML, because the published file gets incorporated into a Flash-based environment on my client's server.
In the Skin Editor, I specified "Show Playback Control" "Playbar Overlay" and position "Top" and Layout "Top Right"
The results that I want are the ones I always got in Captivate3, where the Playback Control overlaid the top right portion of the displayed screens.
In Cap5, this only works for 15 slides, then suddenly the Playbar goes crazy and adds some unwanted vertical space to all the rest of my screens, forcing some of my desired content to disappear off the bottom of the screen. There is now a whole lot of wasted, blank space to the left of the Playback Control.
Is this a known bug, and/or is there a workaround?

Web Site directories getting too big

The images folder on my site now contains over 3,000 images
of wild flowers and related stuff. These images appear on the
relevant but separate web pages of which there are now over 2,000.
You find your way round all this using various indexes which point
to the folders containing the web pages. The site will get bigger
each year and I need to re-structure it for example putting all the
images beginning with A in one directory and B in another etc.
This is easily done but how can I do this and get Dreamweaver
CS3 to update the links - copying and pasting doesn't seem to do it
and dragging and dropping prompts for some updated links but not
all. Updating over 2,000 pages by hand seem a touch tedious as each
one would take about 20 minutes minimum.
I don't really think this can be done easily can it??

Itunes is getting too big for my c: drive...

Hi guys,
I have a considerably large music folder on my PC which is currently in my public music section on my c: drive
I could do with moving it over to my d: partition which is practically empty but i don't know how to make it so that the music can still sync with the two accounts i have (as it currently does with the public music folder)
I also dont know how to make itunes find the music when i have moved it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have reached a point where i can't buy any new music!

You can move the iTunes folder then in iTunes > Preferences > Advanced you can change to the new location.
