Re: conversion of hexa digit to ASCII format
Hi all,
Is it possible to convert hexa digit into ASCII format .
Regards,
Alex
This will work:
data: hex type x VALUE '20', "for space character
ascii type i.
ascii = hex.
write: / 'Hex:' x, 'Ascii: ' ascii.

We can see the data in an indicator just fine, but when we try to write that string of hexadecimal data to a file, it will only save the data in ASCII format.
This sounds fairly simple, as the indicator can be selected to display the data in several different formats (VI>Properties>Appearance>Display Style: Normal, Backslash...., Hexadecimal). However, I have been unable, as of yet, to save the data in different formats.

Reading of accented characters in US-ASCII format in Exchange 2010
I finished a migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
I have one unsolved problem. An internal application generates and sends automatically reporting mails using the US-ASCII format through an anonymous Exchange 2010 Receive connector. This connector was configured following the Microsoft recommandations (article
"Allow Anonymous Relay on a Receive Connector",
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232021(printer).aspx).
The problem is that accented characters like "é", "è" or "à" are converting in "?" when the reporting mails arrive in the user mailboxes in Exchange 2010.
I made the following test :
1. When I generate from the shell in Powershell a mail in US-ASCII format, the accented characters are converted to ?
$encoding = [System.Text.Encoding]::ASCII
Send-MailMessage -To '[email protected]' -Subject 'Test' -Body 'Test mail avec des é è à et @' -SmtpServer '172.16.3.55' -From
'[email protected]' –encoding $encoding
2. When I generate from the shell in Powershell a mail in UTF7 format, the accented characters remains unchanged in the mailbox :
$encoding = [System.Text.Encoding]::UTF7
Send-MailMessage -To '[email protected]' -Subject 'Test' -Body 'Test mail avec des é è à et @' -SmtpServer '172.16.3.55' -From
'[email protected]' –encoding $encoding
Is there a solution to keep the accented characters without changing the US-ASCII message format in the reporting application ?
Best regards,
Pascalhi,
I think it is by design.
In an Exchange Server 2010 organization, content conversion is handled by the categorizer on a server that has the Hub Transport server role installed. Categorization on each message happens after a newly arrived message is put in the Submission queue. In
addition to recipient resolution and routing resolution, content conversion is performed on the message before the message is put in a delivery queue.

ASCII format while loading flat files.
Hi,
Please tell me, if i want to load a flat file of
ASCII format instead of CSV, what shoud be the format of
the ASCII file is it text document or something else?
please send me a sample file.
and what will be the values for this? and are these mandatory?
1) Separator for Thousands
2) Character Used for Decimal Point
3) Currency conversion for External systemsHi Gopi,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I have one more doubt.
well i was trying with a sample flat file which contains
two infoobjects--
1. empid(key figure) 2.empname(characteristic)
i created infosource cube everything is fine and when i try to create a infopackage---i mention file name of ACII
keeping this option. ASCII file which is in a text format
and i am seperating the data jus by a place.
when i do preview, instead of getting 2 columns with diff values , i am geting both column values in a single column.
what should i do for this?
how to get values in separate columns?
Thanks,
Vijaya. -
Loading Flat file in ASCII format
Hi All,
We are loading data from flat file in ASCII Format . Kindly let me know what are the prerequisites we need to maintain when we load data in ASCII Format .
Cheers!
RaghuHi Raghu,
I always load in delimited ASCII. True ASCII format has the advantage of being the fastest way to enter data to BW. But you have to make sure, that the values you import are perfect aligned. So you have to fill in blanks to get the values and characteristics aligned. Delimited ASCII separates by a separator (usually a tabulator or a ";").
Example:
ASCII
10200865678983 10PRODA 2011
10200865678983 20PRODB 4012
Delimited ASCII:
1020;08;8656789383;10;PRODA;20;11
1020;08;8656789383;20;PRODB;40;12
Depending on system you may also be careful how you name your files. In Unix you have to be careful in using Upper/Lower case. Win and Unix systems use different ways to access directories. You have to keep this in mind, especially if you wish to use a function to find the filenames you wish to import.
Also because of Unix or Windows systems you should remember that Unix just need a CR to separate lines, while Windows needs CR/LF. So if you try to import Windows files in Unix systems you will get interesting results. Look at the files you wish to import with transaction AL11. If you see some interesting black cubes at the end of line, you have a windows file you try to load in unix.
Kind regards,

I need to learn how to upload a .pl to the cgi-bin in ASCII
format. Is there a way to get Dreamweaver8 to do this
automatically?
Thanks

It should happen automatically. Have you tried?
What was the result?
If the Perl file doesn't work when uploaded- what exactly are
the error
messages? Much more likely to be a problem is saving a Perl
file with
windows linebreaks and uploading it to a Linux server.

when we create a program in se38 and save it in a zxxxx package then it will create a transport request. The Content of TR i mean is not the Program name or the object list in the TR. The content i mean here is the abap code written in the program. which will be stored as a file in the server. when we open this file it will give the SAP format. Which i want to view in ASCII format. -

ASCII format archives Vs Binary format archives
Hi, I need to know what is the difference between ASCII format archives and Binary format archives, and how can I create each one. Because in this moment I have created a bynary archive with output.format(), but i need the ascii format, so help me please.
If you mean jar archives they are multiple files compressed into a single JAR archive file. jar is a general-purpose archiving and compression tool, based on ZIP and the ZLIB compression format., ie it is in binary format.
When you create a jar you can -0 to store the files without compression, if that's what you mean.
ascii is an acronym for american standard code for information interchange AFAIK, and that is a seven bit character.
hope that helps. I'm not sure I understand the question correctly, pardon me if I didn't

Oracle Database Backup in ASCII format
Hi All,
I want to know,
1. Is it possible to have oracle database backup in ASCII format
Please let me know
Thanks
ArjunNo, it isn't, as a proper backup is a physical copy of a database.
As Oracle doesn't store data in ASCII, the backup also can't be ASCII.
Why are you asking this? What is the business requirement?

Does anyone know of a way to change the default BB 10-digit phone number format of NNNNNNNNNN to include either spaces or parentheses? i.e. (NNN) NNN-NNNN or NNN NNN NNNN.
Hi and welcome to the forums.
If you setup your contact in the (722-344-66770 you can certainly do it. The field is numeric..
You can view the contact and it will be that format, but when you dial, it will just be numbers, The telco has no need of the dashes and parenthesis so the BB doesn't waste space displaying and sending them.
The dashes and () in this case mean nothing to the telco. There are symbols that do, but if you stay with these your safe.
If you need further assistance please ask! If not:

when the idoc is in ascii or edifact format , we will use third party tools for mapping or how to approach this kind of situation
Hi Jackson,
thank you for your suggestion!
Just now, I called the customer. They used seeburger adapter before. Now they can use Seeburger Adapter to read IDoc ASCII Format.
But they want to discard seeburger in the future. Therefore it is not neccessary to integrate Seeburg adapter into XI.
Have you heard anything about fileport in SAP?
Can I just transfer flatfile to SAP internal folder and SAP picks files and convert them into IDoc-Schema automatically?
Regards
