Have you checked to see if you credit card is out of date? You may need to update your credit card on file.......

My network connected for a few hours then went back to timing out. I have not changed anything. However there four additional laptop users in my family who do not seem to be having any problems using their wireless connection. You need a valid SIM card from the carrier to which the phone is locked. It sounds like you do not have a legitimately unlocked iPhone, and upgrading the iOS has re-locked it to the legitimate carrier
Only the carrier can unlock the phone.

If you have a credit card on file on top of your gift card then it is asking you to confirm the security code for the card, which for a Visa or MasterCard is 3 digits located on the back, or AMEX has 4 digits on the front. This happens just to ensure that you are the account holder, and would happen from time to time whether it was a free or paid app, even if you have a credit through your gift card. Try temporarily turning off all your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.

Your phone connected, iTunes running, under the "Apps" tab, you've selected this app to install on your phone, correct? Hit the "Apply/Sync" button, lower right on the Apps tab, what happens?

Again, Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased and will always have to be updated using that account.

If you want them to be on your account then you need to buy them using your account.
