Re-linking SmoothCam clips???

Many SmoothCam clips in this film.  All have been analyzed.  Everything looking good.  Then I open FCP this morning and ALL the SmoothCam clips now say 'un-analyzed' ... a yellow bar over top.
Where might be analyzed files be found, and is there a way to reconnect them to the clips?
Every single one of the scores of SmoothCam clips has been tweaked to best accommodate the film.  I hate the idea of having to re-do the entire film again.
All ears,
Ben

Hello again guys, any luck? I'm about ready to give up, I can't believe there isn't anything that can be done about this. It seems like 1 out of 3 questions on this site come down to getting rid of the , I just can't believe there isn't a way to fix this.
I'm not sure if you guys caught the following msg I posted on Friday. I had several people recommend running this script, but everytime I try to run it I only get coding errors. Maybe this makes sense to you.
Hi folks,
I'm new to the group and posted a question in a couple of open threads without realizing it's encouraged to start a new thread. I've searched and searched and searched the archives in an attempt to find a solution, but it appears I have a common problem that doesn't have an easy solution.
I transfered my music from notebook to external HD and la la la la ...... I now have ! ! ! in front of all my files. I'm a bit anal when it comes to playcounts, ratings, etc and I don't want to lose all that info. Of the solutions I've so far discovered, using Otto's updating script http://ottodestruct.com/itunes/update.txt appears to be the best solution.
Below is the script and subsequent error I receive.
var iTunesApp = WScript.CreateObject("iTunes.Application");
var tracks = iTunesApp.LibraryPlaylist.Tracks;
var numTracks = tracks.Count;
var i;
for (i = 1; i <= numTracks; i++)
var currTrack = tracks.Item(i);
currTrack.UpdateInfoFromFile();
the variable between brackets {} are both indented once (couldn't get to do in text)
Line: 8
Char: 1
Error: object doesn't support this property or method.
I know little to none about scripting and programming in general. Has anyone else used this script (or knows how to script!) and could help troubleshoot the problem? I posted yesterday on Otto's page as well, but I'm not sure when he will find my particular comment.
Your help would be greatly appreciated,
Lacey

  • How can I retain Speedgrade Lumetri effect on a Premiere clip when dynamic linking that clip to Afte

    I'm trying to streamline the workflow between me (editor) and the animator at my office.
    Right now we are exporting clips as ProRes files to be tracked and rotoscoped by the animator in AE and then dropping them back in Premiere. We work off a server so it would be much faster to simply dynamic link my clip that needs screen replacement animation into an After Effects comp. Then the animator could open that After Effects file on the server and do their work then just save it so it will automatically repopulate in my timeline with the tracked shot.
    The problem is here. I want to color correct in Speedgrade before animation so I'm not having to track around screens. So I color correct and the clips come back to Premiere with the Speedgrade Lumetri effects applied. Then I dynamic link to AE. But when the tracked shot returns from AE, the Lumetri color effect is completely lost, which causes me to have to re-color and track around the screen replacement animation.
    Does anyone have any tips for this? The help is much appreciated.

    I just responded to this on another thread, but let me repeat it here for convenience:
    Like you, I too (and I presume most everyone) first send to SG for color correction and then (actually after another SG trip for grading) replace with AE comp for effects work. And when I try that with my CC 2014, I have the same issue (all SG effects disappear after replace with AE comp). But I believe I've found a simple workaround (at least working great so far):
    Instead of replace with AE comp, open AE and drag the PP comp to the AE projects - it will appear like a clip.
    Create an AE comp with that and do your thing.
    Save as AE project and import it into PP - it will appear like a clip that you can use in PP (as if you'd done a replace with AE comp).
    Everything will be dynamic: if you change the SG corrections, the changes will get reflected everywhere (in AE as well as the AE project imported in PP), and what you do in SG will apply BEFORE the AE stuff, which is exactly what we want. Looks like Adobe put all the capability in, but the replace with AE comp is not making use of it yet - I will report this.
    One other related issue is that for some weird reason, you can't drag the imported AE project in PP onto a PP sequence, BUT you can select it and ask to create a new PP sequence! Go figure.

  • Smoothcamed clip looks good in canvas, terrible when exported

    Hi. I'm working on a choppy shot taken on a boat. After applying the smoothcam filter, the shot looks much better, but ONLY in Final Cut's Canvas. When exported and played in any other program, it looks worse, jittery and streaky, like there is a translucent second layer over the original that is a few seconds off.
    Curiously, the smoothcamed clip also looks bad when played FULL SCREEN in Final Cut using the 'digital cinema desktop preview' function.
    The only time it looks good is in final cut's canvas (but not full screen).
    Anyone know why this is happening and how to get the results I'm seeing in the canvas for output?
    The temp work around I've devised is to play the clip in a large canvas and to capture with a desktop video capturing program. The clip is smooth but we're losing too much resolution.
    FYI: no luck smoothcaming in motion, which zooms in too far.
    Thanks in advance for help.

    The Canvas is only showing you some of the pixels, smoothing out what it cannot show in full rez. You're also seeing a reduced frame rate sort of, it's progressive and your footage is probably interlaced. Smoothing attempts to do huge pixel-level manipulations and the results can be terrible and sometimes liquidy, as you have seen. Aren't there settings you can adjust down? Sorry, not at my FCP machine this morning to check that for you.
    Try hitting a few of the Motion training sites to see if ayone has something to say about smoothing.
    In Motion, you can switch off the automatic zooming feture that attempts to hide the edges bt you're going to be forced to deal with the visible edges somehow.

  • Smoothcam clips jittery on DVD export setting

    I just exported an M2V and AAC file for DVD and when I brought them into DVD SP and previewed the video, I could see the jitter on the smoothcam clips. Of course this was much more apparent playing it back on DVD after it was burned. Any ideas? I have about 100 stabilized shots so I'd rather not bake them all, but I will if I have to.
    Thanks!

    Ignore the "dropped frames" issue that you are seeing during playback. The data rate exceeds your machine's playback capabilities but a burned DVD will be MPEG-2 format and will play without isues.

  • Premiere CS6 niot holding links to clips.

    I recently upgraded to CS6 and am having an issue with Premiere not holding the links to clips. I import clips but then when I restart or go to another program during an editing session and come back, Premiere has lost link to many clips (not all, only some). It is especially frustrating for example as I can re-link the media, jump to Photoshop and them come back and Premiere immediately begins to locate media I had just re-linked.
    I know this sounds a bit vague, but that is the issue. There appears to be no rhyme or reason. Is there something new in Premiere Pro CS6 where whenever you jump out and jump back in it trigger a media connection function?
    Obviously this is just a frustration and not critical as I simply have to re-link but I would like to solve the problem as it is a time eater.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Make sure you are on the latest update.

  • All Smoothcammed Clips Interlaced Backward?

    Compressing a bunch of 1080i footage down to DVD, I find that all Smoothcammed clips appear to be interlaced backward! That even though the non-smoothcammed clips seem fine. Anybody seen anything like that before?
    This all comes back to earlier discussions, notably
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2270427&tstart=0
    it sounds like the only way to keep Smoothcammed sequences from becoming spontaneously unrendered is to re-export them as QT movies, and import them back in. I discovered that they seem to always be interlaced backward when I export them. When I import them back in, they seem to often get contorted further (possibly scanlines going from 0 1 2 3 to something like 3 1 2 0, but I'm not sure).

    I think I understand now what's really going on: It's not really getting interlaced backward. It's just that, as Smoothcam makes adjustments for shake, it has no choice but to adjust the two fields of the frame separately. When it does so, we get flicker galore.
    I wish I had a 1080p camera! Maybe for those sorts of shots, I should shoot in ... well, whatever is the largest frame size my cameras can shoot in, non-interlaced.

  • Dynamically linked AE clips suddenly locked.

    I have a bunch of animated clips dynamically linked from After Effects that have suddenly locked in position. I can move normal video clips around, between tracks and back and forth. The AE clips move if I do a Ripple Delete, and I can trim the beginnings and ends of the clips, I just can't move them around. I also can't drag new AE clips into the timeline.
    I'm hoping this is something stupid I overlooked and not a serious problem.... any other you need to help diagnose? Thanks!!

  • Batch Export drops my Smoothcam clips!

    I have successfully added Smoothcam to a large batch of Apple Pro Res 422 HQ clips and rendered the entire timeline. I then highlight all the clips, place them in a bin in my browser, highlight and batch export them as XDCAM 1080p24 35Mbs clips. The clips all export properly with all other effects and color corrections intact. But when I open the individual clips in Quicktime Pro, the smoothcam effect is gone. Does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a good workaround? Thanks.

    You'll need to bake the smoothcam in a sequence which matches the export you intend. Then export the sequence as QT movie... Reason is that the smoothcam render is it's own thing and not like a "normal" render file. It creates a special file even.. so figure you need to "bake it" then export it.

  • How Adobe Premier Pro's linked video clips are ID in Bridge?

    I just finished a FEATURE-FILM in HD comprised of 40 + different Adobe Premier Projects;
    Obviously, at the end you end up with many video clips associated to manyAdobe Premier Projects (i.e.; one video clip could be being used by 17 Adobe Premier Projects), and some video clips are associated to none.
    So this is the thing: I need to delete 5,000 + useless-not associated video clips, however, to make sure that I am not breaking any link, I need to know that they are, or they are not associated with any of my Adobe Premier Projects.
    How does Bridge indicate that a video clip is or is not associated (linked) to an Adobe Premier Project?
    Thank you in advance for your help

    Have you tried posting on the Premier Pro forum?
    A hint for future posts.  If you do not get a response in a reasonalble time rather than reposting, just reply to it yourself with anything and it will be moved to the top of the list again.

  • Best way to change the speed of a sequence of linked short clips?

    I have a sequenced project of about 150 short 1 second clips linked together via a crossfade transition... I would like to make the timelapse faster. What is the best way to change the speed of the sequence or the clips themselves? I would rather change the sequence for it would be less labor intensive I would imagine!!
    Thanks
    RD

    Or...select all the clips in the timeline, control-click (or right-click) on them and select 'Duration'. Change the duration to whatever will fit/fill the timespan you need, then hit OK.
    If you're needing to change the dissolve as well, you should remove all but one of them first, then drag the remaining transition into the browser. Dbl-click it into the viewer, set the duration of what you want, then use the hand icon at top right and drag it back into the browser. Rename it relevent to it's new duration, then control-click on it and select "Make Default".
    Now, set an inpoint at the first frame of your clips in the timeline, then drag all the shortened clips from the timeline into the canvas and release where it says 'Overwrite with Transition'.
    That's another way to accomplish this.

  • Linking audio clips in timeline

    This must be as simple as I obviously am:
    I would like to link some audio clips together (which currently run one after another) in the timeline in order that I can then drag them into the the viewer where I can then alter the levels and pans across the clips as a whole.
    At the moment, when I select the clips and then drag them into the viewer, I just get the first clip as if taken from the browser, with the in / out points marked (i.e. what I originally dragged from the viewer into the timeline).
    Have I explained this well enough? Can anyone help please?

    as usual there a few ways you can do this .. just not the way you're trying to!
    you can adjust pan for a selection of clips by choosing Modify menu > Audio > Pan Left/Center/Right
    you can adjust the levels for a selection of clips by choosing Modify menu > Levels... which brings up the Gain Adjust window: in there you can make a releative or absolute adjustment to the selected clips
    alternatively you could select those clips then choose Sequence meny > Nest Items which will create a new sequence containing those selected clips, replacing the selection in the current sequence with a single (nested sequence clip) ... then you can drag that one up into the viewer and adjust pan and levels as if it were a single merged clip
    alternatively you can change your View menu > Playhead Sync to "Open"
    then as you move your playhead in the timeline/canvas the clip under the playhead will be automatically loaded into the Viewer window where you can adjust pan/levels as required

  • Link edited clips to new media files

    Hi
    In order to send my timeline from Premiere Pro to Resolve I need to convert my AVCHD-media to ProRes (Resolve won't work with AVCHD).
    My problem is, that I already edited my timeline with the original AVCHD from my FS700 (stupid - I know), and now I need to link the timeline clips to the converted ProRes media. Is there any easy way to do this is Premiere Pro? I've imported the ProRes into Premiere with the same filenames - only thing changed is the .MTS --> .mov
    Thanks in advance
    /Rune Borre-Jensen

    Assuming the ProRes clips have the same names as the originals, that only the extension changes, with Premiere Pro closed rename the folder containing the original media.  When you reopen the project, PP will ask you where the media is.  Point it to the new files.

  • Linking Audio Clips

    I am trying to combine two different audio clips together so the music is "seamless" (no break in music)....right now I have the two audio clips on the same row underneath the video clips in the timeline...I do not see how to "link" these together? Right now the first clip ends and there is a few second break in the music before the 2nd audio clip starts.

    Butt the two tracks against each other. Select the edit point and press Cmd-T to make a cross fade. Drag it out to make it longer.

  • Linking of clips

    After wandering around the users manual etc etc for an hour- I am beginning to think there is no way to link two or more video clips .... I have several layered titles- impossible to do in one shot in LT so i made 2 or more separate labels with separate effects ( makes it easy to replicate the effects on different labels further down the line) and stacked them on top of each other in time line and now want to lock the timing relationship amongst the 3 separate titles by linking them .. ALas I can find no way to do that .
    I assume that either FCE is not able to do this or i am too tired at this point to see an answer.
    Please advise.

    One method would be to export the bit you want as a Self Contained file and import the export to the Browser.
    Also you could see if nesting it will suffice.
    Look up NESTING in the manual.

  • How to save a linked video clip?

    Hello All,
    I have two video clips that I permantely want to join together to use in the future.  One clip is a white slug and the other is a black and white photo that I lowered the opacity on.  I have tried to link them and save them but for me they always end up being 2 separate clips.  How can I link them together as one and save them on my hard drive to be used together later?
    thanks for your help.
    Mike

    This will do it:
    Put an in point on the time line at the start of the linked clips, and an outpoint at the end. Go to the menu File > Export > Quicktime Movie . . .
    Make sure "Make Movie Self Contained" is checked and navigate to the loation you want to store the clip and click Save.
    Once the file has exported to the location you have chosen, then import that file back into FCE and give it a name.
    Now the joined clips will be avaiable as a single clip.
