Re: Portege R600-10Q- Toshiba DVD Player has stop working

Hello,
Please help me,
I can't use the Toshiba DVD Player, every time I open it, appears the windows windows saying that the app has stop working...
When I see the error report, appears 'app crash'....
I've already gone to the Toshiba site to make the bios upgrade and have made the download of a new version Toshiba DVD player and the problem remains the same...
What can I do?
Thansk and Best Regards,
Hugo Cunha

Try removing the CD/DVD Filters from the Registry.
When CD/DVD related software is installed (such as iTunes, Nero, virtual CD software), they install filters into the registry, which can cause compatibility problems.
1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
4) Reboot.
If your CD/DVD programs stop working, you will need to reinstall them (preferably with an updated version).
This utility can remove the filters for you:

Failing that, I would backup the data and run recovery.

  • What can I do about this message -"Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working"

    Hi
My DVD Player used to work fine . . . and then I installed iTunes.
It then worked for a while, but only by using 'Run as Administrator'.
After a couple of weeks I started to get the message "Toshiba DVD Player has stopped working".
I have uninstalled iTunes - and uninstalled and then re-installed the DVD Player - but it still will not work!!
    Any solutions please?
Thanks in advance for your help.

My solution to this is to remove Toshiba DVD player and install VLC player. You can get it for free.
It can read all video formats and you don't need some additional codecs.

  • Toshiba Disc Creator Has Stopped Working Error Message

I have a Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8834, and tried to burn a CD using Toshiba Disc Creator v.2.0.1.3. But I kept getting an error message saying "Toshiba Disc Creator has stopped working." and couldn't successfully burn a CD. Though I contacted Toshiba tech support, I couldn't get useful info. Any tips would be appreciated.

Try removing and reinstalling Disc Creator. Install the latest version from the Toshiba site.
Also update the BIOS, and ensure you are using quality DVD discs such as TDK. No-name discs wear out easy and use cheap dye's.
Also try deleting the UpperFilters and LowerFilters:

I can't play MPEG4.avi, or any other, video  - all I get is "The video player has stopped working. Please relaunch".  Please tell me what to do.

I took the video in 2009.  I can't remember the camera model I took it with and the other information you request does not show up in the "i" panel in iPhoto.

  • QuickTime Player has stopped working

On my Vista machine, I can not run Quicktime since I get the error "QuickTime Player has stopped working" so it basically crashes. If I run Quicktime from other user accounts it works fine. It also works fine if I run it "as administrator". I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with no success. I have also followed suggestions in this forum to erase some hidden quicktime related files with no success. Does anyone have any other ideas???

Many thanks. Best to print off a copy of these instructions, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
    Preliminaries
Switch "Run as administrator" off in the QuickTimePlayer.exe compatibility tab.
Download and save a fresh copy of the QuickTimeInstaller.exe (installer file) from the following page. Get the option that doesn't mention iTunes. Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Now quit all of iTunes, Safari and the MobileMe control panel if you have them installed and open. (They all use AAS, and may interfere with the uninstall if left open.)
    *Uninstall phase*
Head into your Uninstall a program control panel. Uninstall QuickTime. Uninstall Apple Application Support.
(From this point, none of iTunes, Safari or the MobileMe control panel will launch until we reinstall AAS, which should happen when we reinstall QuickTime.)
Next we'll remove any leftover program files and folders.
In "Computer" open "Local Disk C:" (or whichever drive you have your program files installed on).
    Open the "Program Files" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
    Open the "Common Files" folder.
    Open the "Apple" folder.
Right-click on the "Apple Application Support" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
In "Computer" open "Local Disk C:" (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "System32" folder.
Right-click on the "QuickTime" and "QuickTimeVR" files (if they still exist) and select "Delete".
    Empty your Recycle Bin.
(If you got any error messages on the uninstalls and/or deletions, let us know what they say. Precise text, please.)
    *Reinstall Phase*
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the reinstall by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file you downloaded earlier. (This should also reinstall Apple Application Support.)
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
... does QuickTime launch without the error this time? Or do we still have to do the "Run as administrator" thing?

  • I use chrome on windows. Every time I am on Facebook and I am trying to play a game I get a message that says flash player has stopped working. how do i make it work?

I use chrome on windows. Every time I am on Facebook and I am trying to play a game I get a message that says flash player has stopped working. How do i make it work?

    Hi juderocks14,
Please first take a check with the other Players and see if they could play the MP4 file normally. If it can't be played, which means it might be corrupted. You may ask at the Bandicam side, or save the files again.
If issue insists, take a try with the Troubleshooter (For Windows 7, 8 and 8.1):
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
Or you may try to turn Windows Features on or off to reset Windows  Media Player:
Turn Windows features on or off (Before turn it on again, please remember to reboot first)

  • Flash Player has stopped working...over and over again!

I get this message whenever I try and watch a video, same message for any page that uses flash, same message no matter which browser I'm using. This problem began with version 10, and I was using older versions of Flash Player until the other day when it would no longer work due to security issues--the message was that the older version of flash would no longer work...I needed to update the player. So, I did, and we're back to the same problem of Flash Player has stopped working message popping up over and over again. It doesn't seem to be the browsers since I get the same message in all of them. Possibly it is the hardware acceleration, but the two pathways to disabling hardware acceleration don't work.   When I try to see the current version (so I can right click and get to settings), the version won't show. The other strategy, right cliking on the video, also won't work because the video won't show after Flash Player has stopped working. My graphics card is a Radeon x1950, and I'm running 32 bit Vista Home Premium.  There is a ton of information on line about dealing with a balky flash player, but nothing that seems to address this problem. Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance. RAS
PS, sorry, I wasn't paying attention and first posted this in "installing flash player."
One more thing....when I go to Flash Player Find Version page, the video does not show up, nor does the version....two big blank spaces.  But Flash Player is installed.

I replied over on your other post.
What browser are you using that is giving you the blank spaces on the versions page?

  • Flash Player Has Stopped Working!

All of a sudden, flash player has stopped working on my computer. I have a 64-bit PC, running Windows 7. Flash was running perfectly one day; the next it was not. Hasn't worked since. I've tried downloading the latest version and even installing an older version. Still does not work! (No changes or additions were made to the computer to cause this problem.) Any ideas as to what might be going on and how to fix it? I've done all I know how to do.

  • 3 weeks after installing Yosemite Flash Player has stopped working

    Hi Apple Community,
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
I installed OSX Yosemite about 4 weeks ago, no problems until now.
Just this week Flash Player has stopped working on an education site I belong to.
The college say there's no problem at their end or for the other students.
I am using Chrome which I understand updates Flash Player automatically; has there been an update this week or something that might have caused this problem?
I have tried every suggestion I can find on the internet:
    - uninstalling Flash
    - tried using Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera
    - installing the latest Flash
    - Rebooting
    - checking Flash is installed (it is)
Is there anything else I can try?
Or is Flash simply not compatible with Yosemite now?

    Hi ...
No problems with Flash on Safari 8 with Yosemite here so try testing with Safari.
First, make sure Allow Plug-ins is selected in Safari > Preferences > Security
Then from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click: Remove All Website Data
Now open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Then delete the cache. Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that doesn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Quicktime player has stopped working in Vista after registering Pro key

I have installed QT player as part of the itunes QT package today and it appeared to work untill I registered it with my pro key which also enabled the additional function, but when i closed and restarted I get message "Quicktime player has stopped working...etc" and it never opens. I have repaired, reinstalled QT, reinstalled QT and itunes, all to no effect. I then restored to before QT and i tunes installation then reinstalled QT and itunes and it works again !, but only until I enter pro key and exit and restart. There is also an issue with the addin in internet explorer which also does not work, but generates a string of error messages when i try to play movies. Oddly enough, if I run QT as administrator it works, and if it seems the QT browser addin works in Firefox (when run off memory stick)
I'm completly confused and frustrated; anyone any ideas please, I'm running Vista SP1 on Dell XPS420 Quad core 2.4 Gig 4MB RAM

Have looked in this a little further and the problem may not be todo with the Pro registration as having restored to a point before QT installation several times I now find that when reinstalled QT works the first time you run it but once closed it will not reopen. However if I run as administrator it runs OK, also if i turn off User Account Control it works OK; this true for the Internet Explorer addin as well as QT player and even the picture viewer. The picture viewer actually reports an error "Quicktime has failed to intialize Error # - 2095". One final observation is that the QT addin works OK without user account control switched off in Firefox 3 b5.
Something is amiss I suspect with permissions/security and i would rather not operate with User Account Control off.
Much appreciate anyones advise on this it is driving me mad

  • I definitely have put this under the wrong catergory but i don't care, I was wondering why everytime i click on a video to play it says: Windows media player has stopped working

Ok, so I made a video with Bandicam, and every time I click on it to play it (it is saved as an MP4), it just says: Windows Media Player has stopped working. Then it gives me two choices: Close the program OR look online for a solution. I REALLY want to

  • My dvd drive has stopped working... put disk in...spits it out! Can anyone help?

My DVD drive has stopped working...put a disk in...spits it out. Can anyone help?

If you have a mid 2010 iMac, it is not PPC.  PPC refers to pre-2006.
The 2010 is getting close to the age the PRAM battery might go, so that could be at issue.
The other issue is that the drive itself could only handle up to a certain speed DVD disc:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP588
    Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Writes DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL discs at up to 4x speed
Writes DVD-R and DVD+R discs at up to 8x speed
Writes DVD-RW discs at up to 6x speed and DVD+RW discs at up to 8x speed
Reads DVDs at up to 8x speed
Writes CD-R discs at up to 24x speed
Writes CD-RW discs at up to 16x speed
Reads CDs at up to 24x speed
If any are near the top end, that could explain it.
Some copy-protected commercial DVDs that were recently released may have difficulty with Apple's drives.
Some non-region discs may have difficulty if you are outside of the country region the disc was made.  Apple gives you several attempts to setup regions.
If you or anyone else stuck an SD card in the CD drive by accident, it would spit out discs regardless of what kind you put in.  Good to try a commercial music CD you know worked before, or a commercial DVD you know worked before under 10.6.8.
I know for instance some Netflix DVDs won't read on my 10.9 installed iMac of the same age but will work on the 10.7 installed MacBook Pro that is newer.   And switching back to 10.6 on the same iMac doesn't make a difference.
http://www.macsales.com/ offers external drives as well as internal replacement drives worldwide.
    Bluray is not compatible.
Discs with sticky label may not work because they make the disc out of balance, and the sticky can get into the drive mechanism.
Barring anything else, it could have gotten dust accumulated.  Bring it to the genius bar of an Apple Store if still baffled.
