Can you programatically insert values into the text boxes and grids of the Adobe forms from an ASP.NET / C# application? My application fills out the information for the user based on selections they make on earlier screens. When they get to the Adobe form they won't have to fill anything out. I want my program to do it. I'm currently doing this with HTML & Javascript on a regular ASPX page. Can I do the same with Adobe forms? Is there and example C# application somewhere that I can look at?

Well, actually not the Acrobat SDK, because that needs Acrobat, and Acrobat isn't allowed on a server. Adobe's solution is a product called LiveCycle Forms (note both words of the product name, don't mix up with other LiveCycle products), but it is aimed at large enterprises.
You may need to seek third party tools. But note that these destroy (by design) Reader Enabling in a PDF.

Hi,
I have an interesting request from a client. They do surveys which they are now designing in Excel. The surveys are long and change for each job they do for their customers. They would like to be able to define a survey and have a program take that data and create a fillable PDF for their field reps to use (right now, the field reps are filling in paper and sending the paper back to the home office for data entry). The PDF would have a SUBMIT button which would submit the data to an online database.
If the forms would have to be programmed by hand, it would be unwieldy because a single rep could fill out 100 or more questionairres in a single job with varying listings of questions depending on where they are going to get the data (the locations are predefined). The key here is to have the data either in Excel or, better yet, a database and have the forms generated.
Can this be done and, if so, how?

Dropdown box for SAP provided Adobe Form is not populating

Hi experts,
I am new to Adobe Interactive Forms. Right now we are using Standard Adobe form for the (PCR) Special Payment. But the drop down box for 'Reason for spl. Payment' is not getting populated. We have defined Reason for special payments in IMG. Also the form 'ISR_FORM_SPSP' has been converted to 'ZCI' format.
Can you please let me know is there anything else I have to configure?

Thank you for the reply. As I said I am using the Standard Adobe form provided by SAP (Special Payment) 'ISR_FORM_SPSP'. On another note ..I am also using the form for Changing working time 'ISR_FORM_SPWT' where the dropdown box for the 'new working time' is getting populated properly. I am new to Interactive Adobe Form so I really don't know where I can find the backend code for this form.
When I go to trasaction 'SFP' I could only see form and the interface being used. Is there a specific BADI that I need to look in? Where can I find the script for the Dropdown UI element.

Populating values to drop down list in Adobe Forms

Hi,
We have added a drop down list in our adobe form. Our requirement is Payment Terms should be displayed in this drop down list. We tried by adding values to drop down list in object palette window by using '+' sign. But now we want to display values dynamically from table T052U. We need to bring two fields ZTERM and TEXT1. We don't want to use database connection, just from a table as an importing parameter it should be appended to this list.
Atpresent, we don't want to use webdynpro or java for getting values.
Please provide suitable answers.

cretae simple type in data dictionary i don't have any idea to create simple type in adobe forms.
For creating Simple Type------in Dictionary->Local Dictionary->Data Type->Simple Type(here right click u get create simple type).and after that choose Enumaration Here u can add values
and create a node WITH one attribute and this attribute is off Type of that simple type u created in local dictionary and bind that node with interactive form data source property ,now in interactive form drag and drop that attribte from your dataView Run your application these values will populate in your Interactive form.

How to create drop down list on a field. I am using ZCI type of form. (Abap dynpro adobe form - type ZCI)
Most of the post i have seen only refers to the setting in forms but not about the settings in interface in se80 or SFP. please give me the detail steps to create drop down field and how to populate it.
In other words is how to populate the drop down fields, where does the values come from to these fields.

I am using a drop down list in Adobe Interactive Form for Web Dynpro ABAP.
The form is of ZCI type layout and the form interface is of XML schema-based interface type and the XML schema source is set to "Generated".
I have included the following code in WDDOINIT method of the view:

begin of zstruct,
zktokd type kna1-ktokd,
end of zstruct,
zitab type table of zsttxecr.
handle1 = wd_context->get_child_node( name = 'DATA.NODE1' ).

In the Adobe Form Designer, i have binded the node NODE1 to the enumerated drop down list from native web dynpro library. Still the drop down box is not getting populated.
Please let me know what is missing.

Value Help in Interactive Adobe Form in Web Dynpro

I have to provide a value help for certain Fields in Interactive Adobe Form using Web Dynpro ABAP. I have managed to get the Value Help Popup for the fields using Java Script in Adobe, but the problem is that whenever I select the Value from the Value Help, the selected value in not getting populated in the field....
Please let me know the solution in case any one of you come across such kind of requirement.

Adobe form with Webdynpro - Form is hanging on click of Submit button

Hello Experts,
My View has an adobe form that has many dropdowns and input fields. There are some fields which get automatically populated based on entries made by the users. There are several internal tables getting populated in the WDDOINIT method. I have a 'Submit Button' which when clicked should close the browser, retrieve data in the Context and do processing in SAP.
When I click on the submit button, I get a 'Wait' symbol (the circle symbol) for a very long time and then the Connection time out error comes up.
I commented the population of some internal tables in the 'Init' method. when I tested by clicking this button, it worked. The browser got closed and processing in SAP was done too.
I am working with a fairly large data. 2-3 of the internal tables (that I commented) have 2000-3000 records. Is there is restriction on how much data the WDN can handle? I am stuck now because even though all codes are correct, the wdn is not able to handle the data.
Any suggestions ?

This issue is resolved. This was due to loading a large data set to the form.

Drop Downs in adobe forms using Web dynpro ABAP

Im new to this adobe forms using webdynpro abap.
In my requirement i have two drop downs on the form.
by selecting value in one drop down i have to fill corresponding values in the other drop down.
Using only WDA i know how to do this but with adobe i dnt know how and where i have
to catch the drop down value and write my code. please let me know how i can achieve this.
one more thing whatever action or events we are performing on the form where we have to place our code for this?

Classification in ADOBE Forms

As far as my understanding : The usage of ADOBE Forms can be classifies as :-
Kindly confirm whether the following are correct or not.
1. Print Forms: This type of usage involves in generation of reports, some confirmation pages and receipts. We can save them locally and can be directly submitted to the printer.
2. Interactive Forms:
       - In print forms, the context should be filled with the data that we want to display. But where as in this types of forms, we do not load the data into the context elements. Based on the user selections the data is loaded dynamically into the context at runtime based on some prescribed process.
3. Non-Interactive / Offline Forms: Users will download the form and save them in their PC. When they are out of network they fill out the form and uploads the filled form from PC to SAP when they are back into the network. This saves the time for the users.
In addition to this i need the confirmation like,
I know that ZCI layout type is the one that SAP is currently recommending. They are strictly saying not to use ACF based layout. Then what is xACF and ISR ? What are they ?

       Optional Support for data validations
2. Non-interactive forms
       Designed to present information to end users
       Pre-populated with data
       Data can not be added or modified
      ex: telefone bill,credit card statement
3. Print and fill forms
      End user opens and prints the form
      Fills it out manually
      Returns it by fax or mail

How to change the Field Symbol, so Adobe Forms takes it as a Table?

Hi guys,
I created an Field Symbol, in a Interface which I use for Adobe Forms. The type of the Field Symbol is STANDARD TABLE, and this field symbol I fill with data from another program.
But the problem is that in adobe forms, this Field Symbol is taken as TEXT FIELD and not as Table... and this shows me a Dump because it can't convert Internal Table to type C (the dump is like that).
What I need, is how to change the Field Symbol, so Adobe Forms takes it as a Table?
I looked at Adobe Form, and found this:
The Type Category of the Field Symbol is DICTIONARY TYPE and I think I need to change it to Internal Table as shown in the right picture.
Does someone have any idea?

To what i understand your requirement, you need to pass data from Field symbol to internal table in Adobe form.
You have done it correct partially. I have replicated your scenario and steps are below -

Item text is populationg Partially in adobe form

Hi All,
I have a problem in printing item text in adobe form.
item text is having more than 100 lines which is being populated in adobe form.
the subform text is created in layout and there a TEXT node is created which has text
this TEXT node in subform text prints item texts.
now problem is that suppose there are 100 lines in item text then 60 lines are being printed and the rest 40 lines are not printing in adobe in next page... from next page next item text are being printed...
When i increase the page height till some lenght then rest all 100 line is getting printed but in single page...
I want item text to be printed in 1st page and 2nd page also if item text is long ( ie. 60 lines to be printed in page 1 and rest 40 lines should be printed in page 2)

Invoking a workflow using GP and WD Java Adobe Forms

I have a scenario where I want to be able to submit an Adobe Form for approval, if its approved I get info from a BAPI which populates the form, if not I just get a message saying, Not approved. So in steps i'd like to be able to:
1) User fills in a form with input parameters,
2) Submit form,
3) Approver receives form for approval,
4) Approver approves and a BAPI is invoked with the input parameters in the form, the form is populated with what the BAPI returns.
5) Form is sent back to user.
6) If form not approved then message sent to user.
I want to create the Adobe form in Web Dynpro Java. I need advice as to if I should do the whole process in GP, or can I use them both together? What are the steps involved? Can this be achieved? Do we use Portal email services to send communication between the user and the approver? Any advice/help/suggestions very welcome.

Hi Lisha
For storing the data from form to workflow and from workflow to trancation it better to maintain custom table to get the details later. You can use the std FM to insert the data from the form to table in this case you need not create custom table. Tell me which module you are working on. MSS or for ESS like leave, travel, actions like seperations, transfer which one you are using.

The program will have the following steps:
1.Data retrieval and processing : A select statement for the pre-populated information
2.Obtain the name of the Generated Function Module of the form u2022 Start the form processing
3.Call the Generated Function Module
4.End form processing
5. Send the form to the vendor using Business communication services (BCS)
Follw this step
select single field1 field2... from table into wa where field = P_field.
call function 'FP_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'
call function 'FP_JOB_OPEN'
Then call the generated function module
call function fm_name
call function 'FP_JOB_CLOSE'
CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
Extract the Data:
DATA: xml_data TYPE xstring,
lt_xml_data TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF xstring.
APPEND xml_data TO lt_xml_data.
lo_pdfobj->get_data( IMPORTING formdata = xml_data ).
Convert XML data from XSTRING format to STRING format DATA: lv_xml_data_string TYPE string.
CALL FUNCTION 'ECATT_CONV_XSTRING_TO_STRING'
