Dynamically (auto) creation of ODS based on a key or reaching a max size

BW 3.5 Receiving data from a RDBMS (likely dbconnect):
I am working for an aviation company where we are expecting to receive large number of records from flying aircrafts. Since the number of aircraft could be in thousands and data could reach 2 GB per flight, we must create ODSs dynamically. Firstly, a new ODS should be created for a new plane as the plane sends in first chunk of data. Secondly if an ODS reaches to a certain size, we would like to create a new one just so that the size wouldn't kill performance. Lastly we have to also store binary data in the ODS.
Any ideas? Clue or code for creating an ODS dynamically and not messing the BW system integrity. Also best way to deal with binary data in an ODS table.
I'll appreciate any ideas and examples of succesful implementations. Thanks a lot.

Actually, you can use the search feature in your guide. Just press Menu and go to search and you can search for a program by keywords there. Once you find the program you're looking for, you can click on it and set it to record either as a series recording or a one time recording instead. We hope that this helps you as for the search function.

Auto creation of time based inspection points against in process required

We want system to create/generate inspection points automatically when process order is released and inspection lot is created. Currently we have to create inspection point manually using either QE71 or QE11. Previously when scheduling was active in PP, inspection points had been creating automatically for the duration of process order. But now PP scheduling is not required and as a results inspection points are not being created automatically.
Please assist.

SAP provides a FM, (QAPP_CUST_IP_CREATE), to be used as a template to create your own FM for automatically creating inspection points. There is documentation in the FM to explain it. You then assign this FM in configuration where you define the inspeciton point identifiers.

Auto Creation of new requisitions based on a list of items
We are starting discussions to determine how we could auto-create requisitions based on a list of servers in order to perform periodic health checks.
One approach we thought about was creating one service request that could spawn multiple requests, again based on a list and using a set schedule (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc.)
Has anyone implemented this and can provide some guidance/tips?

Auto creation of Groups

Has anyone configured auto creation of dynamic groups based on lets say a new dept. created in HR's connected data source. Then have the criteria of that new Dept. be in the new group, all hands off??? Custom workflows in the FIM Portal is what I'm thinking,
is that possible???

the script is currently just a "planning" so there is none.

Issues in auto creation of tasks using templates/attributes in FS

Hi,
We have a requirement to auto-create one or more tasks when a SR is created in Field Service module. Additionally, task owner should be auto-populated during the task creation (task owner would a CRM group which is dependent on the task type as per company defined business rules). There can be one or more task types associated with a SR type. Tasks within a SR type can or cannot be dependent on one or more tasks within the same SR type e.g. I can have 3 task types A, B and C under a SR type and C is dependent on B, so we set up the dependency as needed.
We were thinking of following the task template group approach. We created the task templates per SR type and associated the template with the SR type. Issue here is - we cannot assign the task owner value to the task type (I couldn't see a placeholder to define the task owner). Does anyone have pointers on defining the task owner while creating task group templates?
Another issue is - whenever there is a dependency between tasks, we cannot define the parent task id value. When you navigate to the tasks screen and select the dependent task, you get the error "field must be entered" for parent task id. Any thoughts on defining dependencies with parent task id populated when the tasks are created?
Second approach we tried is creating SR/Task attribute mapping configuration. Here we can define the task owner as well but the issue is we cannot define the dependencies between the tasks. Also we are getting the error "Attribute CUG_TASK_DEP_ID doesnot exist for item JTFTASK" and tasks are not getting created.
Any pointers on resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Today Auto Task creation can be based on the following:
Task Template Mapping => Based on SR Type, Product Category/Product, Problem Code mapping. For this mapping, Territories need to be setup to determine the Task Owner. If Territories are not setup, the application will not auto create Tasks.
Task Type Attribute Configuration => Based on SR Type <=> CIC Attributes mapping. In this mapping definition, the Task Owner field is required to be setup. Whenever Tasks are auto created, the Task Owner setup in the definition is used.
For Task Dependency - what is the requirement? For a SR Type if three Tasks A, B, and C need to be auto created - are you looking for functionality to first create only Task A and when Task A is closed to create only Task B and when Task B is closed to create Task C?

DDL Auto Creation For Various DBs

Hi,
Is there any open source/API that allows auto creation of tables/index/PK/FK ?
The same code should work on various DBs: Oracle and informix as for now. The issue is that I'm aware of the structure that I intend to create, however, there is a difference in the DB types. For example number in oracle is equivalent to integer in informix and both of them are being represented by Integer in java.
I know hibernate can generate the insertion statment and handle the DML, but is it capable to support the DDL as well? (wasn't able to find answer for that).

The problem with managing database tables dynamically is that creating tables is likely to be poorly performant, is usually not a party to transactional logic, and may require substantial parameterization to operate correctly - for example to ensure that the table data ends up on the correct partition and participates in the backup regime.
Since you're asking about DDL dialect support you evidently want support for multiple DB platforms, increasing substantially the likelihood of getting poor performance.
Whereas all databases worth the name support performance transactional usage of pre-existing tables.

In configuration for "Auto creation of po from shopping cart"i have given "purchase order if item data complete,otherwise PR"in SPRO>SRM>srmserver>cross application basic settings>Define objects in Backend(PR,PO,requisition)
So shopping cart is been created with PUR org,PUR GROUP,Vendor tax code,account assignment etc,but purchase requisition is created and not purchase order.Is there any settings left over

Hello Chandra,
You also could use the PR (in ECC) and try to convert it into a PO (ME57). If it asks you for some additional data (e.g. vendor, price, ..) this might indicate, that it is missing in the SC.
Also, you could try and debug transaction ME59 (auto PO creation) to see, what's missing/checked.

Is it possible to define or set auto creation of sales order ? e.g. there 2000 customers that every biweekly Monday will have sales orders created automatically by system, so the user just only see and copy to delivery or A/R invoice. TIA

This can be performed if you use activity management and set sales quotation as a linked document. use one sales quotation but contains multiples row line of items that have different delivery dates can make it possible, but only as reminder, to create sales order,.although manually, you just use copy to and the add the SO. You could also develop addon to make SBO auto creation of sales order.

I know how to dynamically create a record group based on a query and putting the code in When new form instance.
My query is. I have a form which has multiple Record Groups and the user wants to dynamically create subsequent groups based on previous groups.
For example
I have a record group with selects a Location,
when the user selects the Location from a list of values
the 2nd record group called 'Cost Centres' will have to filter out only those with the locations selected above.
How can I populate the 2nd record group at run-time when I do not know what site the user will select?
If I simply populate in when new form instance as in location and just select everything, the list of values populates.
CC field is a LIST ITEM and the list style is a POP LIST, it is not required.
I have put the code in the Location field in the when-list-changed trigger.
I am getting this error:

Hi,
Once record status gets change for block you can not populate/repopulate the list item. Keep those list items as non-database item with different names and create different items as database orignal items. Than assign the values in WHEN-LIST-CHANGE trigger to the actual database items.

Start routine to update some fields of a ODS based on the another ODS

Hi I know i have to do abap coding at the start routine to update a ODS based on another ODS. I have tried doing the code for quite some time now and i have not been successful. I think I havenu2019t followed the definition required for this routine.
I have 2 ODS, ODS1 has 3 key fields and ODS2 has 1 key field
I have to map the ODS based on a 1:3 relation.
I am writing this start routine for the update rules from ODS2 to ODS1.
The logic is if the key field of ODS2 is equal to either Key field 1 or Key field 2 or Key field 3 of ODS1 then that record from ODS2 has to be updated to the corresponding matching record of ODS1, else no update. The 3 key fields of ODS1 have different character length and character types and the key field of ODS2 has a different character length and type when compared to the any of the key fields of ODS2 can match any of those.
Like key field 1 of ODS1 has length 10. Key field 2 of ODS1 has length 10 and key field 3 of ODS1 has length 20 and all these fields are not alpha converted, but the key field of ODS2 has length 60 and it is alpha converted.
Can anyone please help me in this code.

There is no auto-creation of batches that are entered in ME51N. SAP issues message ME178 telling you that the batch entered does not exist.
You have to maintain the batch in MSC1N first, then you can enter it in the PR.

Using JavaScript to auto populate a field based on numeric value of a separate drop down field

Hello, I am trying to set up a simple, I hope, javascript which will enable to me auto populate one field based on the numberic value of another field using Acrobat Pro XI.
Essentially I have 2 drop down fields (we'll call them DD1 and DD2).
DD1 is the sum of 8 preceding drop down values. That sum can be anywhere from 0 - 40. Whatever that sum falls within a range which identifies a rating. The ratings and ranges are below:
0-8: Non-Performer
9-16: Low Performer
17-24: Performer
25-32: High Performer
33-40: Exceptional Performer
DD2 is where the rating ("non-performer", "low performer", etc.) will be captured. Instead of requiring the user to look at DD1, determine the value, and then identify and input the rating manually, I would like DD2 to auto populate the rating based on the value (sum) in DD1.
For example, if DD1 shows a value of 27 then DD2 would auto populate "High Performer". So how do I write this code or execute this? In excel I would use an if, then statement. Is there something similar in Acrobat Pro XI.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Auto populate a textfield based on users input

Hi All,
Working with Designer ES ver. 8.2, and I am looking to see if it is possible to auto fill another field based on an end users input.
Example: End-user enters a 6 digit departmentCode for a program; in turn the field opposite to the departmentCode auto fills with a corresponding programCode; if they do not input the correct 6 digit departmentCode the field will return a null value.
I am trying to move away from my current auto fill drop-down option, so end-user is less likely to select incorrect departmentCode from drop-down

Thanks for the suggestion.
However, we thought of an alternate method that does involve changing the customers existing business process.
1) Change the field AUDISP in the network profile to 1 "Never" for the conversion.
2) Migrate the data. Program will create Networks, Activities & Components with the field AUDISP set to "Never create Reservation or Purchase Requisition".
3) Change the field in AUDISP in the network profile back to "2 From Release".
We will have to get the users to clean-up their data (close outstanding PRs or convert those PRs to POs) before this exercise for a clean cut-over.
