Re-sale of developed applications

Greetings!
I was wondering what National Instrument's policy is on re-sale of applications developed using LabVIEW 7.0 Professional. My company would like to sell one of the program's we've created with our LabVIEW software, and a quick search on the NI site didn't reveal to me if there would be any legal complications with that.

I think the best person to ask is your local NI representative. My experience is that they are always very supportive and will give you good pointers. Probably, their first advice will be to join the NI Alliance.
Chances are, you will be fine. I am confident all the "paranoia" on the current LV 7 license issue will go away, specially when you learn that NI is listening.

Developer Application Provisioning Issues -- Only one app at a time?

_The upshot:_
You can have one and only one developer provision and developer application on the iPhone at a time otherwise you get installation errors (i.e. 0xe8000001).
_To fix:_
Use Xcode Organizer to ensure that you have one and only one application and provision installed to the iPhone that uses your developer certificate.
_To any Apple people:_
If I am wrong about any of this, please let me know. I have wasted 3-4 days over the past 2 weeks due to these issues, and any explanation would be well received! Having one and only one application and provision installed to the iPhone fixed the 0xe8000001 issues for me.
_Long winded explanation:_
It turns out that I am working on multiple iPhone applications at the same time.
Each application has a different AppID (as registered on the iPhone Developer Portal).
I have spent quite a bit of time having major issues with Developer Provisioning and application installation from within Xcode and Xcode Organizer, which led me to not be able to debug my application on a live iPhone.
I finally discovered my problem: I can only have one app and one provision on the iPhone that uses the same developer certificate.
When swapping between Xcode projects if I remove all provisions and applications using Organizer and re-add only the provision of the application I am working on, then the install errors at build time go away.
Samples of install errors that manifest themselves using the 0xe8000001 code:

These errors seem to be occurring because of an install time check against the installed provision files to verify the app, and it seems the provision from an already installed application is being used.
This is probably occurring because the main developer certificate has to be the same between the 2 applications. As the scan through the provisions is occurring, the certificate of the new app matches the certificate from the already installed app, and the provision check fails due to different App IDs.
There is one and only one developer certificate allowed per iPhone Standard program.
I hope that this helps some other people out there with their development provisioning and debug / installation errors.

This is why you should create a wildcard developer certificate (com.youcompany.*)...follow the directions in the program portal. Then you can then install all your apps on your phone.

Hi,
You may or may not need to "register" the workflow - it depends on the changes that you made and which Item Type you modified. Some applications are essentially hard-coded to use a specific item type and process, some hard-coded to use an item type but you can configure the process to use, and some allow you to specify which item type and which process to use.
Without knowing exactly what you have done, though, there is no specific advice that anyone can give you here on what you need to do, apart from to ensure that you have saved the new definition to the database.

No we do not have an open source code for reading .folio files. You can read .folio file in Adobe Content Viewer and in your customer viewer app.

Need help in Point-of-Sales software developing guide

i was required to developed a new Point-of-Sales software for my new company. however, i do not know where to start. i'm new to POS software, so if anyone who has experience in Point-of-sales software development, plz drop a hint or two for me.
i guess the biggest problem for me is to detecting and communicating with the Barcode Scanner, Receipt printer, Cash Drawer and Pole Display. i would appreciate for the advise on how to achieve this.

well, the things is like this:
the existing system is actually maintain by the ex-staff of the company. however, due to some unknown circumstances, all of them left within a very short period of time. and now, we were hired.
the whole things a mess. bugs everywhere. so the only solution the management would accept is to re-develop the whole POS and Inventory system. but non of us have any experience in developing such system and we don't have any documentation for the existing system. Now the management would like to see a prototype, a simple POS system that can perform simple operation - scan barcode, display the price at the pole display, 'kick-out' the cash drawer and print the receipt.
i have done a bit part of research, download some Java-based POS such as JPOS, JavaPOS, and FreeMercator. but i don't really get the idea of how to communicate with the devices. and now the management decided to change all the POS peripherals, so i can tell which brand that we are going to use.
for your question:
Do you already have an inventory control system in place? yes, but no good. no doc as well.
If so you'll want to integrate with that, which could get hairy depending on the system. What's your intended architecture? each store will have their own database. however, they will export their data to the HQ every morning before business hour. the export process of the current system is to extract the data from the database to MS Access DB, then send to the HQ through email.
May I ask why you chose Java to develop this system in?Linux + Postgre + Java = minimum development cost. the company wanted to keep cost at the minimum level.
actually, i do not worry bout the inventory system. all i care is how to communicate with the devices, because this is the first time that i deal with all these POS devices.
besides, i'm not sure if i have to pay attention to any thing like drivers, or whatever standard, etc... and it will be the most appreciate if you can show me (or links to websites) some sample of how to detect and communicating the devices.

The details you showed indicate no SQL injection possibilites whatsoever. The "Critical" examples also are unrelated to Application Express applications that you may have developed (application 4550 is the login application for the product itself and should rarely be used by end users in production environments).

Using Sales Forecast packaged application

Hi, i wish to use the sales forecast packaged application but, trying with different users all the users see the same data, i mean the Sales Rep A see the selling cycle of Sales rep B. Since the manager is right to be able to look to Rep's opportunities this is not valid between Reps. Am I doing something wrong?
What is the best and fastest way to implement such controls?

Hi Maurizio,
The sales forecasting app seems to be an overall view of sales and sales cycle, it doesn't restrict the data. It only restricts the Admin functions when you set at least one APEX user as admin.
You'll need to implement some sort of VPD (Virtual Private Database) policy to restrict data to each user.
You say that you "try with different users", how do you mean?
Have you set up Apex users as reps?
If you have, there will be no link to those users in the reps table in the database.
What you may have to do is set up a custom authorization and link it to the Reps table.
Search this forum and the Apex docs for "Custom Authorization" for help with this.
Your custom authorization will then have to link with the VPD.

There are a number of levels of implementation pain here-- best practices in a Fortune 500 company, for example, are likely to require a lot more infrastructure than best practices in a 5000 person organization. A Fortune 500 is also much more likely to have requirements based on the needs of a security team separate from the DBA group, requirements about auditing, etc.
At the high end, everyone in your organization might be an enterprise user authenticated against a LDAP repository (such as Active Directory) with a variety of functional roles granted to those users and potentially something like fine-grained access control in the database. Depending on how applications are deployed, you might also be using proxy authentication to authenticate these individual users.
Deploying this sort of infrastructure, though, will be somewhat time intensive and will create a degree of administrative overhead that you may not need. It will also potentially require a decent investment in development costs. Your needs may be far simpler (or more complex), so your security model ought to reflect that.

I have downloaded and installed plug named :- ActionScript WSDL Proxy Generator Plug-in 1.0.32
But I am not able to see any change in my NWDS.
I dont know whether what I did is correct or not ! Can anybody pls explain me how to start developing UI in Adobe Flex for WDJ?

If you want 2payers to be possible in the same sales order, you have to include the material as two line items. Then go to each line item, the partners tab and then change the payer there. So now the header partner will have 2payers, and there will be different payers for each line item.
Now you can do a delivery or billing as needed. For a single sales order, two invoices will be created as the payers are different. These invoices can be send to respective payers and the payment can be processed from these payers.
