  • Access JSTL variable outside JSTL tags

    hi
    I have this jstl tag:
    <sql:query var="brands" dataSource="${ds}">
    select brand
    from carbrand
    </sql:query>
    i want to manipulate the brands.rowCount without using the <c:set var="count" value="${brands.rowCount}"/>
    how can I read the ${brands.rowCount} outside the JSTL
    Because I want to use the Math.round, which I think can be use in
    <% Math.round(brands.rowCount/3)%>
    But I think its not reading the right variable or value?

    The variable is put into one of the JSP scope objects. You will be able to access it by using the pageContext.findAttribute("brands") method.
    Note: You will have to know the object's type. So look up the API for the sql tag and see what it is.
    Note: You will have to use brands.getRowCount() not brands.rowCount.

  • How to use javascript variable in BSP/ABAP and vice versa

    Hello Experts,
    In IC WEBCLIENT, there is a view.In the view.htm i want to fetch  the screen resolution and as per the resolution i want set the width of that view.
    1, I wrote the below  javascript to fetch the screen resolution.
       Can i use a notmal ABAP variable inside the javascript? and   If i use can i access that variable after the javascript.?
       Can i assign a javascript variable to a nrmal abap variable??
       The code sample  is like :
    Start of javascript
       if (screen,width == 1024 )
         lv_width = 500  "lv_width is an ABAP variable.
      else
        lv_width = 700
    **END OF JAVASCRIPT
       **Now i want to use lv_width  to assign to a table view attribute(Width)
    <crmc: tableview..
                    width = <%= lv_width >
    the code is not giving any error. But the problem is that lv_width is not giving the correct value, its getting initialized to initial value...
    Requesting the experts to please provide some suggestions/solution for the above issue.
    Thanks and Regards
    Sudhansu

    Hello Sudhansu,
    First of all there was a little mistake at my previous answer:
    you got lw_width = 700
    because at Server Side you have following code:
    lw_width = 500.
    lw_width = 700.
    but if you were writing your code like this:
    <%=lw_width %> = 700.
    then you will get the result that I was talking about : 0 = 700
    Sorry for the mistake
    Now for your question:
    if you want to get a value from the server and assign it to JScript variable you should write like this :
    var aaa;
    aaa = <%=lw_width %>;
    this code assign the server variable lw_width value into aaa  JScript varible.
    I'm not sure what exactly you want to do but look at this link:
    http://www.pageresource.com/jscript/jscreen.htm
    to get the idea how to get and use Screen Resolution variables at your JScript code.
    Good luck

  • Using jsp variables within JSP tag

    I have a variable defined within a JSP:
    <%
    String cust_id = request.getParameter("cust_id");
    %>
    I want to use this variable as a parameter to a custom tag:
    <%@ taglib uri="/tlds/DBTags.tld" prefix="db" %>
    <db:MultiColumnSelect columns="c.id, c.po" name="ccar_id" table_name="ccar_headers c, ccar_rmas r" selectString="r.ccar_id = c.id AND c.cust_id = <%= cust_id %>"/>
    The selectString value that is passed to my tag is:
    r.ccar_id = c.id AND c.cust_id = <%= cust_id %>
    The <%= cust_id %> is not replaced by the actual variable value.
    How would I accomplish using this variable within my JSP tag?

    Your definition of the selectString attribute must indicate that it can accept runtime expressions.
    <%
    String cust_id = request.getParameter("cust_id");
    String selectString = new String("r.ccar_id = c.id AND c.cust_id = " + cust_id);
    %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/tlds/DBTags.tld" prefix="db" %>
    <db:MultiColumnSelect columns="c.id, c.po" name="ccar_id" table_name="ccar_headers c, ccar_rmas r"
    selectString="<%= selectString %>"/>

  • Using javascript variable in spry if statement

    is it possible to put a javascript variable in to the spry if
    statement to test?
    like <div spry:if="javascriptvar == {ds_RowNumber}"....
    thanks.

    Hi rogerfreak,
    When the region processes a spry:if, it simply takes the
    value of the spry:if attribute, replaces all of the data references
    in it with real values from the data set and then evals the result
    (executes the string).
    So you can do something like:
    <script>
    var ds1 = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("foo.xml", "/foo/bar");
    var gMode = 5;
    function GetMode()
    return gMode;
    </script>
    <div spry:region="ds1">
    <ul spry:if="gMode == 5">
    <li spry:repeat="ds1">{name}</li>
    </ul>
    <div spry:if="gMode == 12" spry:repeatchildren="ds1">
    {name}
    </div>
    </div>
    In the example above the list markup will be written out if
    gMode is 5, but if it is 12, it will write out the div markup.
    You can also call functions:
    <div spry:region="ds1">
    <ul spry:if="GetMode() == 5">
    <li spry:repeat="ds1">{name}</li>
    </ul>
    <div spry:if="GetMode()== 12"
    spry:repeatchildren="ds1">
    {name}
    </div>
    </div>

  • Using XPath variable in standard tags

    Hi all.

    <img src="???"/>How to do? I correctly parse my xml document, and using x:out I'm able to display portrait content (http://.. etc) but I have no idea about how to use it in another tag.
    Can anybody help me?

    Please try giving the XPath expression as given below:
    /p1:ValidateUserRequest [string-length(Businesspartner) = 6]  system1
    /p1:ValidateUserRequest [string-length(Businesspartner) != 6] system 2

  • Using Javascript variable in JSP

    I m setting a variable named btn to the value of the button which was clicked but the problem here is that i m nt getting its value whn i want to set it to a request.setAttribute() method.

    > Yes... nw i get the prob... thanx yaar .... bt cn u
    suggest me wht cn i do fr this situation
    My first suggestion, beyond all others, is to use real words. Your writing is practically unintelligible.
    Please make the extra effort to write out words such as "now", "problem", "thanks", "but", "can", "you", and "for" (I have no idea what "yaar" means). The extra keystrokes won't cost much in the way of time, and the enhanced clarity will be appreciated by those communicating on a forum with international readership. Also, it will give the appearance that you take your question seriously, which will in turn make your question look more interesting to answer.

  • Is it possible todeclare primitive variable by using JSTL tag

    Hi friends..........
    I have to use jstl tags in my project , so i have to know how to declare primitive variables with jstl tag. Is it possible with <c:set > jstl tag........
    Hope i get the answer...........
    Thanks in advance...............

    JSTL variables are attributes in the page, request, session and application scopes.
    As such, they can only be objects, because you can't store a primitive value as an attribute.
    However you shouldn't need to declare primitive variables. You should hardly need to declare any variables.
    JSTL is not a programming language. It is a language to aid the display of a JSP. Therefore most of its attention is geared towards outputting things, with a much lesser concern on setting them.

  • Using EL variable in struts bean:message tag(not struts EL tag)

    Is there any work around to use an EL variable inside struts bean:message tag as key:
    I have like this:
    <bean:message key="${bean.keyName}"/>
    which is throwing error , I know this can be resolved by using struts-el tags but i cannot use them for specific reasons.
    I dont want to use bean:define tag to define my 'bean' and then use like this:
    <bean:message key="<%=bean.getKeyName%>"/> (this actually works, but i want to use EL variable)
    Is there any work around to use EL variable and make the message display on the jsp.
    i tried multiple ways like scriplets and jsp:useBean but nothing worked, Please let me know..
    Thanks in advance

    Im pretty sure that EL does not work in the normal struts tag unless its struts-el tag.Have you tried it?
    As I said, in a properly configured JSP2.0 container you can use EL expressions anywhere you could traditionally use a standard runtime expression <%= expr %>.
    What server are you using? What JSP version?
    The Struts-el tags were written so that you could use EL with struts in JSP1.2 containers.
    The c_rt tags were written so you could use runtime expressions with JSTL tags in JSP1.2 containers. Their use was discouraged even then. Now I consider their use absolutely unnecessary.

    Looks like you haven't imported the taglib:
    JSTL1.0: <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    JSTL1.1: <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    You use JSTL1.0 in JSP1.2 containers (eg Tomcat 4)
    You use JSTL1.1 in JSP2.0 containers (eg Tomcat 5)

    Is it the optimal time to load or it could be improved?

    Hi Evnafets,
    Thank you for the response.
    Here are the tasks I am doing to display the data on JSP.
    0. We are running on Tomcat 5 and the memory size is 1024MB (1GB).
    1. Getting the data - I am not performing any database queries. The data is stored in the static cache memory. So the server side response is so quick - less than a milli second.
    2. Using Java beans to pass data to the presentation layer (JSP).
    3. 10 'if' conditions and 2 'for' loops and 2 'choose' statements are being used in the JSP page while displaying the data.
    4. Along with the above, there are 4 javascript files are being used.
    5. The jsp file size after rendering the data, is aprox. 160 kb
    Hope this information helps you to understand the problem.
    Thanks,

  • Use JSTL tags for ATG droplets and beans

    Hi,

    <c:out value="${json}" />
    but instead of using dsp tag is there a way for accessing ProfileFormHandler using JSTL tag
    Also how can we use droplets in ATG like ForEach using JSTL tags only
    <dsp:droplet name="ForEach">
    <dsp:param name="array" param="catalogItems.rootCategories"/>
    <dsp:param name="elementName" value="categoryItem"/>

    I am trying to display profile values in a JSON object in jsp.
    <dsp:getvalueof var="json" bean="ProfileFormHandler.ProfileJSON"></dsp:getvalueof>
    <c:out value="${json}" />
    but instead of using dsp tag is there a way for accessing ProfileFormHandler using JSTL tagIn the <dsp:importbean> use var to give an EL variable name to the component you are importing.You can also set its scope attribute to page, request, session, or application with page scope being the default. You can then access it as a page scoped attribute. So this should do:
    <dsp:importbean var="profileFormHandler" bean="/atg/userprofiling/ProfileFormHandler" />
    <c:out value="${pageScope.profileFormHandler.ProfileJSON}" />In case you change the scope in importbean you can accordingly use pageScope, requestScope, sessionScope or applicationScope.
    Also how can we use droplets in ATG like ForEach using JSTL tags only
    <dsp:droplet name="ForEach">
    <dsp:param name="array" param="catalogItems.rootCategories"/>
    <dsp:param name="elementName" value="categoryItem"/>Any ATG droplet is nothing but a servlet which is also a Nucleus component. So essentially you want to call a servlet from JSTL which as such shouldn't be done in a well written script-less JSP. You can probably try to use the droplet as a bean and use JSTL on top of it but since ATG droplets also have different types of parameters like input, output and open so you will have to specially handle those.
