Read all in a folder

Hi. I want to read all files in a folder.
For example: if in a folder I have the three next files
file1, file4 and file13. Of course in the beginning I don't know
which is its names because this is random. I need open all and then
add its names in a list.
The result should be:
myList = [file1, file4, file13]

You can use getNthFileNameInFolder() to figure out what files
are in a
folder.
I prefer using FileXtra4 (not using D11)

Reading All Files inside folder codeBase, Applet!

I have an applet, placed in a Jar file.. everything is ok,,
I have a resource folder outside the Jar, which has some files.
how can I read what is inside the resource folder, which is located outisde the Jar, without having their addresses before hand!!
in short, I would like the applet to open the resource folder, get an array of all files in the folder, and then reads them.
I tried encapsulating the getCodeBase().toURI() with a File Object.
But when I call the file.list() it throws an AccessControlException

I'm having problems initializing a java.lang.String as ora_java.jobject.
I was able to import in forms my class ,(wich works ok when tested like standalone java class,it returns all the filenames from a folder),a package was generated on the form for it.
But,I've got to pass it the folder name as a String.
I've imported java.lang.String as ora_java.jobject,and a package was generated on the form.
When I try to call string.new('c:\work');
it won't compile,it says invalid reference to variable String.
What should I do?Is there any predefined Type in ora_java package for java.lang.String?

Reading all the files from Application Server in a specific folder

Hi,
I want to read all the files present in a folder on Application Server ( AL11 ). My problem is that I do not know the name of the file but I know the folder path where files are present.
I need to go to this folder and pick up all the files present in this folder and then process these files in my program.
Can any one help me in this!

Read all the files in a folder over and over again

I want to develop an application that reads all the files in a folder, and once its done reading those files it reads all the files again.
The purpose for this application is to read all the files in a folder that are continuously being stored in that folder, so that when a new file is created, that file is also read by the application. I then need to compare the date and time in which the file was created to the actual date and time of the system, so that way I can get the most recent file, and then I will do other operations with this file.
The thing is that I know how to read all the files in a directory, but I don't know how to cycle through those files again, in order to look for the most recent one, and I don't know how to make the comparison of the time stamps, because I need a precision of one second in the system time and the time the file was created.
Can someone please help me?

I think that I just went the wrong direction.
What I wanted to do in the first place, was to rename and overwrite every new file in a directory with the same name and file extension, so that every new file overwrites the old file. The thing is that the list folder only lists the files the first time and then keeps on telling me there are no files to be read even though there are new files.
What I need now is a way to overwrite the old files with the same name, and keep searching for every new file that is going to be stored in the directory.
I will leave the code that I have right now, so that you can tell me what do I need to modify in order to read every new file that's going to be created in that directory.

How to Read all files inside resource Folder inside Jar?

I have a Jar file,,,, The program reads for resource files in the resource folder inside the Jar. I want my program to read all files inside this folder without knowing the names or the number of files in the folder.
I am using this to make an Applet easy to be updated with spicific files. I just want to add a file inside the resource folder and Jar the program and automatically the program reads what ever is in there!!
I used the File class to get all file names inside the resource folder. it works fine before Jarring the program. After I jar I recieve a URI not Herarichy Exception!!

First get the files in application server using the following function module.

Here loc_fdir contains the application server path.
int_filedir contains all the file names in that particular path.
Now loop at int_filedir.
OPEN DATASET int_filedir-name FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT MESSAGE wf_mess.
MESSAGE wf_mess.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
      DO.
        READ DATASET pa_sfile INTO wf_string.

How to: Sender File Adapter to dinamically read all subfolders of a folder

Here is the scenario:
-Interface: A file to file interface.
-Objective: The idea is to move files from a file server to another file server.
-Master Source Folder: ...\OUTPUT\
-Master Destination Folder: .....\INPUT\
Interface example
-Source Folder: ...\OUTPUT\INTERFACE1
-Destination Folder: .....\INPUT\INTERFACE1
The idea is that the PI interface must read all the subfolders inside ..\OUTPUT\ and then move the files found to the corresponding folder in the target.
What we want to achive is to be able to add a new source folder i.e ...\OUTPUT\INTERFACE2 without having to modify the sender File adapter.
Actual status: Dynamic determination of the destination folder is already done, but source folders are statically defined in the sender file adapter.
Can this be done? Perhaps using a Bean Module or something?

This is great! In the off chance anyone else is trying to do this, this is also useful if you have Papers and you want to switch to Mendeley. Papers keeps PDFs all organized by year and then author so the PDFs are all nested in subfolders. If you option-click the triangle next to the Papers folder, it will then show all the PDFs. Select All and then drag over the whole thing into Mendeley. I just imported my entire collection in under a minute. Glad I looked this up!

In the File I/O>>Advanced File Functions Palette is a function named "List directory". This function will give you two arrays. One contains the names of all subdirectories the other the names of all files. If you want to sort them by name use the array sort function. If you want to sort them by another attribute use the File/Directory Info function to get more data. Use a cluster which contains the attribut to sort and the original index of the name. Then sort this array.

I use this SQL to read data from a file in FTP site. utl_file.fopen('ORALOAD', file_name,'r');
But this need to fixed file name in a directory. However, client generate output file with auto finename.
SO do we have any way to read all file by utl_file.fopen('ORALOAD', file_name,'r');
We need to read all file info. because client claim for security issue and does not to overwirte output file name,
we must find a way to read all file in output directory.

Read All Files in a Folder

I have a large set of data. Many don't have similar names at all. They
all have the same data form (a 100x2 array for example).
Is there a way to have a VI read all the files, one after another,
automatically? It's a lot easier when the files are the same name, but
ending/starting with different ID numbers. If they're all different,
what can I do?
Also, is it possible to create a VI, so that a file 'dropped' onto the
VI's icon, will cause it to process the data? I'm not sure if this is
a Labview or MS Windows problem.

You can simplify this if all your files are in the same directory. Check the example attached that read all .jpg images in a directory and display them in a picture control. Enter the directory path before running.
As for your second question, it can be done, but I think (I might be wrong) that you must convert your vi into an executable. Check the following example:

Cloud backup restored photos and documnets to the wrong folder and all in one folder

I used the cloud backup to backup and restore my photos and documents because I was told to fix my problem I would have to do a hard reset. When I restored the photos and documents they were all restored to the wrong place and all in one folder. Please help. Is there any way to fix this or is their cloud backup program just stupid and I am screwed?

Let's get to the bottom of this and get your pictures and documents backed up correctly. What phone do you have? Did you restore every all at once? Try removing the files and doing the restore again. Did you do the restore from the phone or desktop app?
