Read cursor position in document

I've already asked this question in the PS-SCRIPTS forum and gotten 2 answers.  I wonder if anyone else has some other ideas on how to do this.
Is there a way I can have the user click inside the opened document and have the X,Y coordinates, where the user clicked, returned to the script while the script is running?
Larry

Hi Larry,
After your other post I tried again to come up with a way for the user to pick a point while the script is running. I stll don't think it can be done with just a click but I have come up with a way to get a user defined point while the script is running.
It's not pretty but it was the best I could come up with. Have your script alert before hand that it will bring up a transform and they need to press any arrow key once then move the crosshair that in normally in the middle to the point they want. They have to nudge the layer, just setting the crosshair does not return the needed transform descriptor. And they must move the crosshair or its not in the descriptor.
The function below makes a selection, brings up the transform in dialogmode.all, after the user confrims the trans it undoes the move and deselects and returns an x,y array where user moved the point.
function ftn1() {
     app.activeDocument.selection.selectAll();
    var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
        var ref = new ActionReference();
        ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('Lyr '), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
    desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
     try{
          var desc = executeAction( charIDToTypeID('Trnf'), desc, DialogModes.ALL );
          executeAction( charIDToTypeID('undo'), undefined, DialogModes.NO );
          app.activeDocument.selection.deselect();
          var point = desc.getObjectValue(charIDToTypeID( "Pstn" ));
          var x = point.getUnitDoubleValue(charIDToTypeID( "Hrzn" ));
          var y = point.getUnitDoubleValue(charIDToTypeID( "Vrtc" ));
          return [x,y];
     }catch(e){}
Note that this is a CS4 version and the ruler must be set to pixels as this doesn't check the unit value. You may need to change  getUnitDoubleValue to getDouble with older versions. Or let me know and I can change it to return a UnitValue instead of double.

  • ITunes 6.0.1.3 "forgets" last cursor position in the library

    Hi there,
    I've a minor issue with my iTunes library. When I'm comfortably browsing my library using the "Browse"-Button, switching to e.g. my CD in iTunes and after that returning to the library the last cursor position with selected title and/or album is lost. So anew I've always to navigate manually to the previous selected album which it's bit annoying especially when you've to manage a larger library.
    Any hints?
    Thanx!

    DEZ3124,
    I want to change the default location of the music libary, so I went through the edit | preferences | consolidate library processes...which seemed to work fine.
    This method will change the location of the iTunes Music folder but the the iTunes folder itself will be left behind in its original place: C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\My Music. This makes iTunes (and by extension will also make you) much happier and in this case you'll be well-advised to let it have its way.
    Note that all the actual music files you now have, as well as those you will add in the future(which take up the bulk of the space on your hard drive), will be in the new location. The iTunes folder will be left behind with the iTunes Library files which don't take up much space at all ... if that's a concern.

  • [ADF Faces] set cursor position to the first column input text in ADF table

    How do i set the cursor position to the first column input text when i Insert a blank row?
    My idea is to implement using javascript. document.setfocus() but how do i do it from the backing bean code? or how do i install custom js to call document.setfocus()?

    Did you try by iterating the selected row?
    Bind the table with the managed bean and then try with below code:
    RichTable empTable;
    RowKeySet selectedEmps = getEmpTable().getSelectedRowKeys();
    Iterator selectedEmpIter = selectedEmps.iterator();
    DCBindingContainer bindings = (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding empIter = bindings.findIteratorBinding("EmpView1Iterator");
    RowSetIterator empRSIter = empIter.getRowSetIterator();
    while(selectedEmpIter.hasNext()){
       Key key = (Key)((List)selectedEmpIter.next()).get(0);
       Row currentRow = empRSIter.getRow(key);
       System.out.println(currentRow.getAttribute("Ename"));

  • Select All Keep Cursor Position

    Is there a way to have Dreamweaver keep current cursor
    position when I use Select All (Ctrl + A) instead of moving all the
    way down to the end of the document.
    It's very frustrating.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I think there is a bug in the new forms version.
    When a timer goes off, focus is switched to
    a block to clear block, then focus is given back to
    the text field is highlighted and the cursor goes
    to the beginning of the text field!
    This is unacceptable if a user is typing in a text
    field and in the 'background'-unknown to the user- the timer goes off....goes to a block, performs clear block,
    and returns focus to the text item. The text the user has typed will be overwritten if even one keystroke
    is performed by the user when the text is highlighted.
    AND, now the cursor is at the beginning of the text
    field, not the end!
    I have create a PJC for a text field that SORT of works <see code below>
    What is does is when the text area is 'selected' perforsm
    a keystroke of VK_END. The problem arises when the user tries to use the arrow left key.
    The CursorPosTextArea might not work. I'm not exactly sure what forms is doing wrong...I'll look at it though. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Cursor Position without Tool Suite?

    Hello,
    I was wondering if anyone knows whither or not it is possible to determine the current cursor position of the current tool without using the Tool Suite.
    In other words, I want to know the position of the cursor - regardless of the currently selected tool - not that of a custom tool. I hope it is possible, but I was not able to find anything...
    I greatly appreciate any tips.
    -jeshua

    It is not possible, but it's quite easy to tap into the OS & use the AIDocumentViewSuite to translate global coordinates into document coordinates. We do something like this in our product so I can tell you it works. You just need to make sure you 'hook in' to the correct window -- namely the document window you'd like to track mouse movements in.

  • How to get the current cursor position in word report?

    I am generating a word report. But I would like to keep the table in one page. However, I did not find the way to do it in labview. Somebody would give me some suggestions? I appreciate a lot.
    One way I think I can do is to find the current cursor position. Since I know the table size so I can figure out if the left space in the current page is enough to hold the table. But I do not know how to locate the curent cursor position in word document in labview programmatically. I appreciate any suggestions on this question.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    when you insert data in a word document you have to refer to bookmarks rather than cursor position.
    If you are using the Report Generation Toolkit for Office it is explained in the manual chapter 3-1.
    See also the example: Generate Report From Template (Word).vi included in the toolkit.
    If you aren't using the toolkit, you still have to refer to bookmark as reference points to insert and/or fetch data.
    The principle is:
    - First create a document in which you insert bookmarks where you wish and save it as a template
    - In LV open your template document and insert in it your data referring to bookmarks as insertion points
    - At the end save your report with another name, so you still have the template
    I hope I have been clear enough, if not just as
    k!
    Good luck,
    Alberto

  • Accessing cursor positions on Tek TDS3052 oscilloscope

    Hello,
    I'm trying to program a LabVIEW application using a Tektronix TDS3052 digital oscilloscope that I access via GPIB.
    I have a got most of it running using the tkds30xx driver library that came with LabVIEW. However, I am missing one function: I need to query the user cursor positions set by the user on the scope. What I'm looking for is pretty much what the "TekTDS read cursors.vi" from the vi lib for the older Tek scopes does. I didn't find its equivalent in the TDS30xx lib, and unfortunately these routines cannot be intermixed.
    Does someone know whether that function exists at all and, if yes, how to access it (where is it and what its name?)?
    Thanks in advance for your help!
    Best regards

    Hello,
    For horizontal cursors try:
    CURS:HBA?
    The instrument should give a response in this format:
    Horizontal Pos1;Pos2;Delta;Selected Cursor;Units
    For Vertical try these:
    CURS:VBA:HDELT?
    Returns horizontal difference
    CURS:VBA:HPOS? x = 1 or 2
    Returns value of vertical bar ticks
    CURS:VBA:UNITS?
    Return measurement units
    CURS:VBA:VDELTA?
    Returns value difference between the bars ticks
    If you are using the IVI driver, use the write to instrument and read from instrument VIs. If you are using the LabVIEW native one, VISA write and read should do the trick. Hope this helps.

  • Inserting text into a field at the current cursor position

    Does anyone know how to insert text into a field at the current cursor position? I would like it to work similar to the Syntax Palette in Forms. I cannot figure out how to retrieve the current cursor position in order to manipulate the text.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    If the button and the textfield are on in the same subform then this code should work in the click event of the button
    (This is JavaScript code so make sure the code is set to JavaScript and Client on the drop downs in the script window)
    (assuming the name of the textfield is TextField1)
    TextField1.rawValue = "some value";
    If they are in different subforms then you have 2 options
    Please note in both these options it is easier if the subforms have names ( I am assuming this to keep samples simple)
    option 1 -
    use the parent object to move up the tree till you are at the same level as that of the subform that contains the textfield
    e.g.
    (Click Event of the button)
    this.parent.subformname.TextField1.rawValue = "some value";
    option 2 -
    Use the resolve node to make your way down from the top level of the form
    xfa.resolveNode ("form1.subformname.TextField1").rawValue = "some value";
    Hope this helps
    Malcolm
    p.s. I am making assumptions as the image/file you attached did not appear for me.

  • How to assign values to textbox automatically when cursor position changed

    I want to get values based on the values entered in the one textbox when we change the cursor position the value to be automatically loaded in to other text box is it possible please help me .....

    You still haven't explained what a text box is.
    Repeating what you've already said in "BOLD" text doesn't make the question any clearer.
    What does the changing cursor position have to do with anything. I can use the arrow keys to move the cursor without changing the text.

    I have reproduced the bug mentioned here:

    I've reproduced this bug (?) in Labview 8.5, with an XY graph doing
    much the same as Jack. The attached zip file contains a stripped down
    version of my program (originally written by my coworker, Andrew
    MacDonald). Run "RENA3 Data Viewer.vi" and follow the instructions.
    As Jack said, changing Cursor.PosX to Cursor.Index solves the problem.
    I did not find this bug mentioned anywhere other than the above link.

    Hi Karla,
    Sorry if that wasn't as obvious as I thought! :-)  Hopefully the attached image makes it clear.  On the front panel, 'Cursor Channel' is inputted.  This is directly wired to Histogram.Cursor.PosX.  Immediately following, Histogram.Cursor.PosX is read and wired to the front panel indicator 'Cursor.Cursor Position:Cursor X'.  There is always a difference of 15 or 16 between the two values.  If there was no bug, these two values should be identical!  I can only conclude that Labview is doing something funny...
    As I mentioned before, changing Cursor.PosX to Cursor.Index fixes the problem.
    A bit of background:  my FWHM function outputs the peak channel, and the cursor is supposed to go through the peak so you can have a visual check that it is analyzing the right peak.  I noticed that the line would never go through the peak; the line would always have an offset.  After wasting a couple of hours, it became clear that I was wiring the correct value into 'Cursor.PosX', but something was going wrong beyond that.
    Cheers,
    Fraser

  • How to get the cursor position in the text edit box?

    Hi, all.
    I want to get the cursor position in the text edit box
    to insert some data.
    But I don't know how to get.
    Can someone give me some advice?
    BestRegard.
    Miya.

    Hi Miya,
    Write your own textSelectionSuite for this.
    and use ITextTarget->GetRange() function.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • How to get the cursor position on a picture?

    I'd like to show the cursor position on a picture
    which is 400 by 400 pixel size and located at
    (0, 0, 400, 400) on a panel. So suppose that the
    cursor is at (50, 50), how can the java code know?
    Thank you.

    I am thinking about this, and use something like
    JPanel.setFocusable(true). Thank you.
