Read local XML with FileReference

Hello,
I have a problem triying to read a local XML file.
I have this code to get the file from my hd, the file is uploaded correctly, but I don´t know how convert it to XML or String variable.
The code:
    private var fileRefSave:FileReference = new FileReference();
    private var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    private var xmlFilter:FileFilter = new FileFilter("xml", "*.xml");
     * Click Send buttom
    private function onClickSave(e:MouseEvent):void
      fileRefSave.browse([xmlFilter]);
      fileRefSave.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, selectedFile);
     * File selected
    private function selectedFile(e:Event):void
      fileRefSave.load();
      fileRefSave.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaded);
     * Loaded
    private function loaded(e:Event):void
       // Here I had the proble, I need convert FileReference in XML o String. I try with loader class but doesn´t work.
thanks. regards.

Why are you using FileReference? You need only use this if your application is browser based. It sounds like you are only working with local files, so here is an example using the File class instead.
var file:File = new File();
function fileSelectHandler (event:Event) : void
     //get the selected File
     var selectedFile:File = event.target as File;
     //do stuff with the file now, such as read the xml..
file.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, fileSelectHandler);
//open file dialog to select file with
file.browseForOpen("Select an XML File",[xmlFilter]);
If you really need to use FileReference (i.e. you must have a browser based application), then you should be uploading the selected File to a specific URL, which your example does not seem to do. Please see http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/FileReference .html#includeExamplesSummary for more information on this.
Once you have uploaded your file to some URL, your application can then work with the file as it knows where to get it from (the URL where it was uploaded to).

  • Flex Photoshop Panel won't read local XML file

    I've created a panel for Photoshop which reads an XML file to populate some controls. When run from Flash Builder 4 through the web browser it works just fine, but when run from within Photoshop the XML file is not being read. Uploading the XML file to a web site and referencing it via URL in the panel works sucessfully in both the web browser and from within Photoshop, suggesting some type of security issue.
    The Panel Developer's Guide FAQ talks about giving the Adobe Flash Player trust permissions by creating .cfg files that reference the folder the panel is running from.
    I have created these .cfg files and placed them in both:
    /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashPlayerTrust
    and also in:
    USER/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#Security/FlashPlayerTrust
    but the problem remains.
    Environment:
    Mac OSX 10.6
    Photoshop CS5
    Flex Builder 4
    Flex SDK 3.5
    Any help/suggestions appreciated.

    I had the same issue but I got it to work. I figure I update this thread in case somebody is trying to do the same. I didn't need to use javascript in order to load the XML. Just create the XML object:
    <mx:XML id="myXML" source="data.xml" format="e4x"/>
    Remeber to use e4x. The in the AS3 code I bound it to a var:
    private var _XML               :XML;
    _XML = myXML;
    then....
    private var _itemsXMLList      :XMLList;
    _itemsXMLList = _XML.node;
    Don't forget to add "-use-network=false" to the properties > Flex compiler > additional compiler arguments.
    Hope that helps.

  • B2B - Email with XML attachment - Error in reading the xml file

    Hello,
    We have a requirement where an application sends an email with an xml attachment to a Lotus Notes (IMAP) mail box. I have configured the Partner, Agreements and Listening Channel to pick up the file from the mail box. Looks like when B2B is trying to read / store attachment, it errors out, there is no instance in B2B created. Looking at the logs, the file content is not read as XML, instead it seems like a text. When B2B tries to read the attachment it is not xml, there are no error messages as well.
    The "Content type" in the Listening Channel is set to blank, so B2B can decide appropriate content type. Should this be set?
    Could some one tell me what is wrong, not sure what is missing in the configuration.
    Thanks,
    Venkatesh

    Thanks Anuj,
    After setting the property, I am no longer receiving the error, however, still fails with a different error, "Exception occurs in conversion from mail to TransportMessage. Please make sure the message sent is in correct format." and "TransportMessage cannot be created from mail. Skip this mail."
    The error appears after / while, executing, IMAPMonitor.saveAttachment():
    Is this a problem with the attachment or the email?
    here is the log,

  • How to select variable filename from local directory with fn to load xml

    I would like to select a specific xml file to load from a local directory. The file name is composed of “Title” + “number sequence”.  I know the Title (in this case its XLink07), but I need to select the latest number sequence or the latest by date stamp.
    For example, the local directory has the following files:
    XLink01[36735298100].xml
    XLink02[36735298100].xml
    XLink02[36735298101].xml
    XLink07[36735298100].xml
    XLink07[36735298101].xml
    In this example I need to select file XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml where XXXXXXXXXXX is the highest number within the XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml files.  Title is Xlink07 and function should return Number sequence [36735298101]. Files with higher number sequence have later date stamps than files with lower number sequences. I need to select the highest number or the latest date stamp for the file that begins with XLink07….
    My action script to load the local .xml file without any function to select the correct file is:
    Security.allowDomain("*", "*")
    var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("XLink07[36735298101].xml"));
    xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, showXML);
    function showXML(e:Event):void {
    XML.ignoreWhitespace = true;
    var Innards:XML = new XML(e.target.data);
    tweet_name.text = Innards.XLink01[0].screen_name;
    tweet_1.text = Innards.XLink01[0].text;
    tweet_date.text = Innards.XLink01[0].created_at;
    Thanks for the help if anyone can script that function for me if its possible.

    If you develop for Flash browser plugin (not AIR), there is no way to read directories.

  • Readding and writing with currect enties of xml into config file?

    Hey dear Developers,
    i ask about xml file for config.xml.
    If you change line of config.xml than application air will to read sometimes xml structures...
    Example:
    <config>
    <app>
      <lang>langde</lang>
      <style>default</style>
    </app>
    </config>
    If i change to this:
    <config>
    <app>
      <lang>langen</lang>
      <style>default</style>
    </app>
    </config>
    Than Application Air will to load currect ..
    If you change with failure or problem...
    <config>
    <app>
      <lang>langen
      <style>default</style>
    </app>
    </config>
    What does it happen while you changed this failured enties of config.xml. When Application Air will to load error message or create again new xml file?
    I have been tried i have problem of my writeconfig():void ...
    Thanks can you help me ?

    Its likely that there is an ADF deployment listener that is adding the skeleton faces-config.xml to the web application because it did not find one in the project in the standard location. OJDeploy simply invokes the JDeveloper deployment in headless mode to an archive that is the same as what you would see when deploying to an archive from within the IDE. You can verify this by deploying the same module from within the JDEV IDE.
    You can either move your validator to the JDev standard location WEB-INF/faces-config.xml or use Ant to do your build entirely. (if you don't need JDev specific deployment behavior). If this does not work for you, you could open a bug to see if it is possible to stop JDev from generating the skeleton file.

  • Working with local xml file

    Hi, I would like to work with a local xml file, but I don't want to point to a strict location as I would like my application to run on a few different machines.
    Is there a special place within Netbeans project structure that I can place such files?
    Say if I try and load a file "somefile.xml" - where is it going to look first?
    I have a <default package> with my settings.xml in there. How can I reference this within my app?

    Is there a special place within Netbeans project structure that I can place such files?dunno Netbeans project structure at all but I'd sugest maven project structure wich is widely used: http://maven.apache.org/guides/introduction/introduction-to-the-standard-directory-layout.html
    There you would place such a file in the <tt>main/resources</tt> folder
    Say if I try and load a file "somefile.xml" - where is it going to look first?I'ts going to look for it where you tell your program to.
    When created as <tt>new File("somefile.xml")</tt> it will bee searched in the <i>currend working directory</i>. The problem with that is that it is unreliable what this will be at runtime (once your Program left your IDE...).
    You should better get it via <tt>getClass().getResource("somefile.xml")</tt> But in this case the file must be present in the classpath in the same package as the Class aquireing it. Adding a <tt>'/'</tt> in front of the file name expects it in the root directory of a classpath entry.
    I have a <default package> with my settings.xml in there. How can I reference this within my app?<tt>getClass().getResource("/settings.xml")</tt>
    But in case you include it into the delivery jar file it will not be writable. Also you cannot expect the installation folder of your App to be writable. On startup of your program you should copy your (default) settings to a writable place like <tt>new File(System.getProperty("user.home2),".myApp/settings.xml");</tt> and modify it there.

    l_nl := dbms_xslprocessor.selectNodes(dbms_xmldom.makeNode(indomdoc),'/Datenexport','xmlns:xiz="http://www.bvl.bund.de/Schema/2010/xiz"');

    But i haven´t find the right function.
    Could anbody help me?

    Still not using XMLTable for this? ;)
    OK, using DOM, for example :

    I could not found what is wrong.
    Two things are wrong :
    1) Lack of namespace declaration
    2) You're trying to project repeating nodes into a single row
    This should work :
    SELECT x1.ReportCreated
         , x2.*
    FROM XMLTable(
           XMLNamespaces(default 'http://www.post.ch/schemas/dfu/2006/20/Report11')
         , '/ROOT/Sender'
           passing xmltype(:xml_response)

             ReportCreated varchar2(30) path '@ReportCreated'
           , items         xmltype      path 'Provider/Data/Item'

       , XMLTable(

  • Read an XML file with java: Document to Node conversion

    Hello,
    I want to read an XML file and convert data into a Node instance because I need this for an XForm application.
    My code is:
    private Node workstationType;
    public Node initModel() {
    try {
    //This one will hold the results
    Document document;
    //loading from XML File
    String fileName="C:\\documents\\iniForm.xml";
    FileInputStream inXML = new FileInputStream(fileName);
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inXML));
    document = XMLLoader.loadFromStream(in);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.err.println("ERROR:" + e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace(System.err);
    //Create the node for the root, 'typeOfWorkstation'
    workstationType = document.getDocumentElement(); //A
    //Return the root node
    return (workstationType);
    The problem: I can convert Node instance to Document instance (line A)
    The error message is: "document cannot be resolved".
    How can I do that??
    Thank you
    Sylvain

    Here is my XMLLoader class:
    public class XMLLoader {
         public static Document loadFromStream(Reader reader) throws Exception {
              //Build a DOM document with the reader
              //prepare DOM document
              DOMImplementation impl;

                   DocumentBuilderFactory factory =
                        DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
                   factory.setNamespaceAware(false);
                   factory.setValidating(false);
                   builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
                   impl = builder.getDOMImplementation();
                   //Read and parse the XML input stream into a DOM document

  • Issue with creation of SSIS package - reading from XML

    Good Morning,
    having a slight difficulty here and more than this, am afraid solution is pretty straight forward. I am trying to read an XML-file and save the rows to a CSV file (late ron it should be sent to SQL-database).
    Am having this input XML
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
    <DataSet>
    <xs:schema id="NewDataSet" xmlns="" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:msdata="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-msdata">
    <xs:element name="NewDataSet" msdata:IsDataSet="true" msdata:UseCurrentLocale="true">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded">
    <xs:element name="ROW">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="COLUMN" type="xs:short" minOccurs="0" />
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:choice>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>
    <diffgr:diffgram xmlns:msdata="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-msdata" xmlns:diffgr="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-diffgram-v1">
    <NewDataSet>
    <ROW diffgr:id="ROW1" msdata:rowOrder="0">
    <COLUMN>1</COLUMN>
    </ROW>
    <ROW diffgr:id="ROW2" msdata:rowOrder="1">
    <COLUMN>2</COLUMN>
    </ROW>
    </NewDataSet>
    </diffgr:diffgram>
    </DataSet>
    but when running the SSIS-package, I get this
    no errors are shown, but also no rows are written/processed.
    Why is nothing read here?

    by the way, when I split the schema and the XML data, having those 2 files
    data.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <NewDataSet>
    <ROW >
    <COLUMN>1</COLUMN>
    </ROW>
    <ROW >
    <COLUMN>2</COLUMN>
    </ROW>
    </NewDataSet>
    schema.xsd
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <xs:schema attributeFormDefault="unqualified" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:msdata="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xml-msdata">
    <xs:element name="NewDataSet">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" name="ROW">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element minOccurs="0" name="COLUMN" type="xs:string" />
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>
    then result is fine

  • Getting a local xml document to populate a listview works in "Live View", but fails in browsers

    I'm am extremely new to this so if there is a link or tutorial that explains what I should be doing, please direct me there, however I was unable to locate one on this site.
    Challenge:
    I'm trying to build a mobile app to read a local xml file and populate a listview.  Everything works perfect in the 'Live View' mode of CS5.5, but when I go to preview in Safari or Firefox all that is generated is the  listview container with none of the xml loaded content.
    I'm reading the xml file as text and then running it through parsexml.
    I am sure there is something glaring that I am missing, but I've seen many posts on other sites (not dreamweaver specific) which have shown people struggling with how to accomplish reading a local xml file and using it in a mobile app.
    Any Help, insights, suggestions or examples of how to make this work in more than just the 'Live View' will be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance!
    XML and Code is Below
    XML:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Components>
         <Component Id="1" Name="TermOne" Description="Definition of term one.">
               </Component>
            <Component Id="2" Name="Term Two" Description="Definition of term two.">
               </Component>
    </Components>
    CODE:
    $(document).ready(function(){
               $.get( "jquery-mobile/dictionary.xml", function(xml) {
                         var xparse = $($.parseXML(xml));
                        var xlines = [];
                        xparse.find('Component').each(function(){
                                  var name = $(this).attr('Name');
                                  var description = $(this).attr('Description');
                                  xlines.push('<li>' + name + ': ' + description + '</div></li>');
               $('#Dictionary').append(xlines.join(''));
               $('#Dictionary').listview('refresh');
               },"text");
    Is there any dreamweaver expert out there who knows why this code will only render in liveview and not on the browsers?

    Thanks Murray!  viewing the source code, copy/paste worked!
    I tried to use the insert image object for the next rollover button...but then got another error message (thankfully just one).  I know that I could simply copy the format that you did for the first button, but since this site will be image rollover intensive, I'd like to try to fix this error so I can use the design feature.
    Here is the message from validator:
    Line 73, Column 443: required attribute "alt" not specified
    …me="familytrees" width="105" height="57" border="0" id="familytrees" /></a></p>

    The attribute given above is required for an element that you've used, but you have omitted it. For instance, in most HTML and XHTML document types the "type" attribute is required on the "script" element and the "alt" attribute is required for the "img" element.
    Typical values for type are type="text/css" for <style> and type="text/javascript" for <script>.
    I checked the document and both types have been entered - very confused.  Have any recommendations?
    BTW - do you think it is a good idea for me to get css/html and or javascript for dummies?  Do those books really help novices, such as myself?
    Your patience and help is great appreciated!

  • Write data to local xml file

    Does anyone know if there is a way to write data to a local xml file using the Connection refresh Button??

    Hi there Glenn,
    That's tricky...
    Are you using SP1?  You need to have at least SP1.
    The XLFs were generated with an internal build newer than SP1, but they should still work in earlier builds.
    If you changed the HTML file, that might be the cause.  The SWF references in the HTML file must be exact.
    Also, the range names must match as defined in the XLF/SWF.  The bolded lines following should match.  It's easiest if they all use the SWF name.
    else if (hasRequestedVersion) {
    // if we've detected an acceptable version
    // embed the Flash Content SWF when all tests are passed
    AC_FL_RunContent(
    "src", "consumer",

  • BUG: ADF BC read-only VO with no Key attrs + af:table

    Hello all,
    I've got a bug to report - quite easily reproducable with the HR demo schema. To see it:
    1). Create a new application from the ADF BC + Faces template
    2). Create a read-only VO, use "SELECT employee_id, first_name from employees" and order by "employee_id" - take the defaults for everything - do not set any key attributes.
    3). Create an AM, add the VO to it's data model. Turn off AM pooling in the configuration.
    4). Create a JSPX page. Drag-drop the VO from the data control palette as an ADF read-only table - with selection
    5). Bind the actionlistener of the "submit" button to a backing bean method that just system.out.println's something.
    Now, run the app. Try selecting an employee from the first page (records 1-10) and clicking submit - it works. Now, scroll to the second set of records, select one and click submit - no message appears - the action listener is never called. No errors are thrown.
    Workaround: ensure the VO has employee_id selected as a key attribute.
    My code is at the bottom for reference.
    Cheers,
    John
