Reader 9.1.2 not printing as shown on monitor

The attached postscript file creates two paths of two line segments each.  Ghostscript displays the two paths as expected.  The PS file is converted to PDF using Ghostscript.  Adobe Reader 9.1.2 displays the PDF file as expected.
I print the file (using Reader 9.1.2) to two different printers (a Ricoh and an HP) at my disposal with the current PCL drivers.  Both printers show two extra line segments in the bottom path as shown in the attached PNG file.
A kind soul at the usenet group comp.text.pdf has told me he also gets the extra line segments with Acrobat 9, but not with Acrobat 7.  See the usenet thread "Adobe Reader or printer driver bug?" for that full discussion.
Anyone else here get the extra printed line segments?  Is this an Adobe Reader bug?  If so, are there any patches available (on WinXP) to fix it?
Thanks,
James

> where X = 3 and Y >= 29
Obviously :-) I meant Y= 2 and  X>=29
This very simplified PS code...
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
4.0  setlinewidth
100 400 moveto 200 600 lineto 10000 600 lineto  stroke
showpage
...when converted to PDF, has a comparable effect. It  clips at the (right) edge of the MediaBox (A4) minus printer margin (a few  mm) and draws the 2 unwanted lines.
A similar PDF, directly created  with iText, has the same effect.
It also happens with the HP DesignJet  1050C driver (large size plotter), which gives these results:
- the  wanted and unwanted lines are represented as vectors
- the critical length of  a line is ~ 2 meters (~ 5900 points)
- the selected page size (A4 .. A0) has  no effect; only the "Oversize" versions of these sizes have a slightly  smaller (!) critical length
As the clipping occurs at/near the edge of  the MediaBox and the extra lines come with quite different drivers, I believe  it's a Reader bug that causes
the extra lines.

canon pixma mx850 printer not reading my computer - will not print
I unplugged the cord that went from the printer to the computer to another canon printer to see if I could remediate a problem with a wireless printer.
When I plugged the computer cord back into the usual computer, the printer is no longer talking to the computer even though I have gone in and changed back the settings, and it has been the default printer - that was not changed.
I've tried all the trouble-shooting suggestions to no avail.

    Hi scheideckerj,
Reinstalling the latest drivers for the printer from the Canon USA website may resolve the issue you are experiencing.   Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MX850.  Once on the download page, please do the following:
    1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.
    2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click on the MP DRIVERS file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.
Once the file is downloaded, please double-click on it to reinstall the printer drivers on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Shadow not printed as shown

The same mess again inPages 08 ... When one attaches shadows to boxes or letter they show up nicely, You adjust them until they look well and the You print them: ugly black lines or blocks instead of the adjusted shadows. No idea of WYSIWYG! The situation is the same in Pages 08 like in the former product.
The only way to circumvent this error is: print as PDF - but You have to make many many tries to get the shadow You want. What You see on the screen (Apple Display) is far away from that what comes out on a PDF.
Thanks for good ideas or thanks to anyone who can make Apple to get this long lasting error corrected.

Mac OS X 10.4 has my driver built in. If I export the Pages document to Word, then it will print as shown. It does not print accurately as a PDF.

  • Adobr Reader XI: document will not print: premium presentation paper

I've had no problems with this before today. Adobe Reader XI gives me an error message that "document will not print". I tried it in draft, plain paper, and it printed, without a problem. I switched browsers, from Google Chrome, redownloaded the document (online labels) into IE8, then tried to reprint as premuim presentation paper, matte, color. Same error message. Yet, as a draft, no problem. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, updated drivers on Epson printer (WF2530), same error message. AShould I do a system restore to two days ago, since this is the last time there was no problem? I print product labels.

    Thanks Atul,
Th problem has recently been resolved when my new technician made some adjustmnents. The problem was not the fault of Acrobat. It goes back to my new high definition IPS monitor several weeks earlier. When using Windows Office 2007 I was seeeing green haloes mainly between letters such as" ll, ii, db" etc. where the vertical lines filled with green. In Adobe Bridge, the variable text in control boxes took on a red colour. My technician (at the time) sought help via the Microsoft Help site and found this was a common problem with professional high definition IPS monitors like my new one. The instructions (4 pages from the Microsoft site)  said to turn off the Clear Text Type and replace the font 'SEGOE' with Tahoma. As the technician workede his way through the steps, I watched as he marked them off as he went so as to ensure the changes were correctly made. This solved the problem but it wasn't until a week later when I tried to print a PDF file that my problems with Acrobat began. The PC was taken to another technican fora "second opinion" and this man fixed the problem within a short time by changing the font back to the Windows default, SEGOE. He may have done something else but when I saw the printer dialog panel on his workbench with no other problems either, I was anxious to try it with my new monitor. No more colour fringing/haloes etc and no further problems with Acrobat However, I was waiting a little longer before informing you of the outcome-just in case it didn't work.
It seems that Microsoft may be incorrect in their 'Fix' advice as the font SEGO may well be required for Acrobat to print a PDF file?
This case may now be closed with thanks for trying to help with a problem that in the end turned out to not your fault

  • I just downloaded and installed Adobe Reader X.  It does not print.  It is unbelievable to me!

I just downloaded and installed Adobe Reader X.  It does not send the view to the installed printers.
It is unbelievable to me that Adobe would broadcast a flawed product like this.

  • Adobe Reader 9.0 will not print on Macbook Pro with OS X 10.6

I have the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and when printing labels or other pdf's, Adobe Reader 9.0 just sits there, doesn't even acknowledge that I am trying to print.  When I open the print queue, it says trying to print, loading data but sits forever.  If I print from Preview and other apps, it works fine, so it's obviously an Adobe issue with the new Macs.  Any suggestions for this non-technical person that just wants to print?  Thanks.

If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions or have other problems with updating to update then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Reader 11.0.02 not printing

    Hi,
Im running MAC OSX 10.6.8 and when I try and print the program freezes. Under Activity Monitor it says that Adobe reader is 'not responding'. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing twice and both times to no luck. I originally downloaded the program to print poster pdfs. Any advice would be great. Thanks alot!

I have seen various threads where the same issue is described. It is problem with either MS Outlook or Adobe or Firefox. Download all pdf files and use with Adobe Reader previous edition. Also watch these threads regularly as Adobe will fix the issue very soon (if problem is in reader plugin) and response you back here.
However the need is to export outlook emails to pdf with attachments then you can go for an automated app to view or open pdf files with Adobe Reader independently. The application does not requre MS Outlook any more to export the pst emails.

  • .jsp files opened in Adobe Reader by Firefox will not print on my HP laserjet

I have a vendor site that provides me info in .jsp format, which Firefox on my Mac opens in Adobe Reader. When I send this file to my HP 3015 laserjet it starts spooling the file then locks up. I tried creating a .pdf file in Acrobat Pro, but still encountered the same problem. My Firefox, Adobe Reader, Acrobat Pro, and MacOSX (snow leopard) are current. I do NOT encounter the problem with .aspx files. Appreciate any help here! Thanks

  • Switched printers & Adobe Reader X suddenly does not print at all.

I have had nothing but problems since downloading Adober Reader X, I have Windows 7 Pro and the program crashes, and now it simply won't print.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Reader 9.3. I use my pdf docs every day and cannot afford any down time.  Keep trying.....I saw no real improvements in the program to want to switch from the 9.3 for now.  When its perfected I might consider reinstalling.

  • Reader Plug-in not printing PDFs correctly after InDesign Install on Mac OS 10.9.5

Installed InDesign trial yesterday. Ever since, no matter what browser I use, if I try to print PDFs from a browser, if the pages are in portrait mode, it will display them in portrait mode within the browser, but when I go to print them, the page appears in landscape and the bottom of each page does not print. It doesn't matter whether I select portrait or landscape mode. The page in the preview does not rotate. Some of the websites I use do not allow saving of a PDF, only viewing it in my browser window, so I can't save and use Preview to try to print it.
    HELP!

Are you using Adobe Reader or Apple Preview to print PDFs?
You should not use Apple Preview to do anything with PDFs as it is not a reliable PDF viewer. Use Adobe Acrobat or Reader for PDFs only.
Do you have installed any PDF plugins? On the Apple PDFs are shown without any plugins because their graphic engine Quartz is based on PDF, but it does not support completely every PDF standard, so it is better to use Adobe Acrobat or Reader. (But Apple Preview has been improved in the newest upgrades from Apples OS, so it is much better than before.)

    Dear Raju sir,
I will maintain freight & octroi condition types in conditions tab but I don't want them to come in print preview and need not to add into total price in print preview, i.e. the total price to be shown in print preview should be exclusive of freight and octroi

  • When printing slides with notes, only notepart shown on screen is included

    Hi
I make presentations with really long presenters notes. During presentation I can scroll the presenters notes on screen with U and D, but my problem is when printing the slides with notes, only the part of the notes that is shown on screen is printing, so I sometimes half of the note section on a slide.
Is there a work around, or is it just the way life is?
    Thanks in advance.

I too am having the same issue. I am trying to print out a monthly calendar like I see on the screen. At the most on any given day I have 4 lines of text. It shows on the screen but when I print it puts 3 little dots above that particular day to let me know there is more to it and refuses to print more than 3 items. I have tried with different page set ups and all I am doing is wasting ink. What's worse, is that there is PLENTY of room left on the paper. There is so much room between the month label and where the calendar starts there certainly has to be a way to adjust this. (I would hope!) Anyone please help! Thanks in advance.

HPOfficejet Pro 8600 does not print the page as shown in WORD. I am using win 7, 32-bit OS. How do I fix this?

Sounds like the table is to large to fit on a single page. Have you tried using the "Shrink to Page" option in the Print Preview? Depending on your version of Word, my attached picture may not be 100% similar but it should be enough to give you an idea. Here is the option inside the print preview menu:

  • Printing a PDF in Adobe Reader  v8 does not print watermark

In our office we have PDFs created with Adobe Acrobat Professional version 7 that have a lighten watermark which say "confidential". These PDF documents print fine with Adobe Reader 7.0.8. Our office has now converted to Adobe Reader 8.1.1. When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader v8.1.1 the watermark displays on the screen but when you print the document the document prints without the watermark.
I have checked the knowledge base and can't find this issue. The document has no trouble printing, it just doesn't display the watermark. I have tested Adobe Reader versions 8.0, 8.1.1 and the new version 8.1.2 all display the watermark when you open the Reader, but none of them print the watermark. I have gone back and verify and the watermark does print on Adobe Reader v7.0.8.
If anyone has a similar issue or solution please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Mary Mendoza

I have the same problem. The watermark does not print out even though I can see it in the print preview. Anybody...?
