Reader 9.3 MUI ACW-built package causes client to stop receiving add'l advertisements

Send out an Adobe Reader 9.3 Advertisement via Microsoft's SCCM - And after it successfully installed, no successive advertisements will ever be received by that client.
I posted some details of this case in the Native Mode forum, but I've since narrowed the cause down to the successful advertisement and installation of Adobe Reader 9.3.
Without going into details yet, which I will include below, I set up an unattended package/program of AR 9.3.0 and pushed it to a number of test clients. Thereafter, Reader worked fine. I concluded that program was a success. I went to test two other package/programs, both of which were quite simple. They were 7zip and Paint.NET applications, and both were using simple msi installations. Both were never documented as being assigned in the client's execmgr.log Likewise, we did find an error in the PolicyAgent.log of the client, once we assigned an advertisement to that client after the installation of Adobe Reader.

We are having a helluva time trying to figure out what it is about the Adobe Reader 9.3 installation that would cause a certificate/signature snafu for all subsequent SCCM packages. We've already set the installation options to near-default and the changes we did make are innocuous in my view.
I tested a "consumer" installation of Adobe Reader 9.3, and then successfully pushed Office 2007 via a known-good package/program and it did succeed. Apparently the issue is either with the method of deploying AR, (via SCCM) or the configuration differences between the consumer version and the package I created, however subtle they may be.

In my case I'm using Adobe Reader 9.3.0 MUI that calls a transform created by the Adobe Customization Wizard 9. To troubleshoot this issue, I make precisely 3 changes to the default transform, using ACW9. Functionally, the result should approximate your command line; though I don't know what your MST may have within it. It appears to be irrelevant. The changes I have made to mine from the default are:
1) remove AIR share desktop shortcut and AIR share program menu shortcut, using this reference: http://www.appdeploy.com/messageboards/tm.asp?m=46707
2) Under Registry in ACW9: fix the browser plugin issue, adding quotes around a registry entry in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe (the default was [AS_HKCR_EXE] now "[AS_HKCR_EXE]" ) This fix was not implemented during the first test deployment, which also broke future advertisements to the target clients.
3) Under Installation Options in ACW9 selected "Run Installation: Silently" for obvious reasons.

Launching External programs from an addon cause Client to stop

Hi.
We have an add-on that allow via configuration to launch other programs/files from SAP (Remote desktop, PDF-documents, etc.).
Launching other processes from an add-on is easy with the System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(file, arguments);
This has worked since SBO2004A, but since we began working with SBO2005A SP01 launching external programs cause the SAP Client to freeze every 5-10th time or so...
Nothing except stopping the add-on-process works.
When the add-on is terminated the Client "Wakes up" to inform that add-on has been disconnected.
Anyone else have had a similar problem?

Regarding the thread, I whought about it, but since it is a process.Start, it a whole different process and threads should not have anything to do with it...
As always, yes I've created a message for this.... And got the normal response from SAP Support "We cant reproduce the issue... please send sample code"... sigh.... Hate random error that can't be reproduced... and sample code is hard to produce when you have created a whole framework above the SDK... I almost never do any "Core" SDK...

Reading an XML file from a package .....

I m trying to read an xml file from a package. The XML file is located on desktop (not on unix system). if i mention the path of the file in a package, is it sufficient ???. OR do i need to CREATE DIRECTORY in oracle and mention the file path in this directory ???
I have granted CREATE directory permissions...
If not any suggestion or advice is great ???

Reading Data From a Different Planning Package in a Exit Function

Hi,
Is it possible to read data from a planning level / package other than the package that the exit function was executed with? I want to read data into an internal table from another package and use that data in combination with the data in the current package to create new records. If this is possible sample code for how to read data from a different package would be appreciated.

Hi,
As an example lets say you have restricted 0calmonth in your package to 6.2007. In the planning layout to fetch values for 5.2007 (read only), you can take 0calmonth in data columns, and for this column restrict it as 5.2007.
Similarly in Planning functions, you can mark 0calmonth as field to be changed and fetch data for 5.2007.

Reading image url from a different package.

When I'm trying to read image from a jar with a package structure different from the reading class, the getResource(<image name>) returns the url as null.
For ex: Say I have hello.gif in a jar under
client/resources and also the ResourceHandler in a different package
say client/utils it does not work.
Code for ResourceHandler is as follows:

URL url = this.getClass().getResource(imageName);

return new ImageIcon(url);
The url printed is null. But if I have the ResourceHandler in the package client/resources it works. I believe that the class loader tries to load it from the path relative to this class. Any idea why this behaviour. I would also like to know why just being in the classpath is not sufficient.

It needs it because the location of resources (like an image) is independent of that of the java code (resources are not .class files).
To look for resources strictly from the syst classpath, you can use the methods getSystemResource() and getSystemResources() . These methods use the system ClassLoader to locate resources.

I was talking with a friend today and out of the blue he asked me "Besides select, insert, delete, updates and e.t.c which is common in Oracle PL/SQL, what Oracle in built packages have I used?" I did not have an answer.

There are some wonderful documents - in Oracle9i titled "Supplied PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference" and "Supplied Java Packages Reference" that provide details about the packages Oracle has made available.
In addition, every function you call in a SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE - such as trim, to_char, substr, etc. is part of package STANDARD

1. The Packages are "Wrapped" - meaning that you cannot see the code & hence you cannot change it.
2. You should never change the standard objects in your MetaData Repostiry - this will put your Product in what the Oracle Support popularly terms as the "Unsupported Mode". Hence, you should not do it.

[bug report] Built in email client: charset is alw...

I have to repost this bug report (originally submitted to http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117995 ), since no one replied.
My Nokia E50's built-in email client incorrectly displays multipart messages, i.e. plaintext+html. The program prefers html part over plaintext, but always displays it in ISO-8859-1 codepage, regardless of the "Content-Type: text/html; charset=CHARSET" modifier in the message. For languages other than English this causes total message garbling. Such plaintext+html multipart messages are very widespread.
I guess that all Nokia Symbian smartphones are affected.

Its funny that you mention BCC'ing because thats the only semi-solution I could come up with as well using the default email client. Also, Mobile Documents is a good 3rd party solution. It has its own limitations, but it will sync to the proper folders. I use it when I don't feel like going through the convoluted BCC process.
If anyone from Nokia programming can see this, full IMAP sync functionality would certainly be a welcome addition in future updates to the email program. Those of use using the same email account on many different devices consider it a necessity.

And have you updated your video card drivers from the GPU maker's website? (most crashes on launch are due to bugs in out of date video card drivers)

I think it has something to do with the way the value of the check box is exported, but I'm not sure. With nothing being exported to Data5, Data6 displays the sum of Data1-4 rounded down to the nearest whole number and updates automatically as Data1-4 are updated.
Right now, assuming Data1-4 are 0, where data 5 is the output of the second example and any box is checked, "1" is displayed in data5 but nothing is added to data 6. Selecting any other check box or deselecting that check box will cause data6 to add 1 even if data5 displays "0". By way of example:
Selecting Check box 16 results in Data5 displays 1 and Data6 displays zero.
Then, if any or all of Checkbox17-20 are selected, Data5 displays 1 and Data6 displays 1.
Then, if any or all of Checkbox17-20 are deselected, Data5 Displays 1 and Data6 displays1.
Then, if Checkbox16 is deselected, Data5 displays 0 and Data6 displays 1.

You can not access the backup directly.
Did you restore your replacement from this backup?
If so then you already have everything in the backup on your device.
If not, you can wipe the device and restore from this backup:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings

             I'm not sure I have the answers to all your questions. Although I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively, I'm not a 'techy'.
My system;
Packard bell imedia S2885
1TB hard drive
500G RAM
Windows 8.1   64- bit
Intel core i5 4440
If I open Photoshop cc14 without opening any image, I still get an error message that reads: 'Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware'.
There is also a link to the Adobe help site, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be downloading from there.

(1) They are not HTML buttons, but links stylde to look vaguely like buttons. HTML buttons can be used just as easily, see [Launch JNLP App - launch style|http://pscode.org/jws/launch.html] for an overview of different launch styles.

IWeb's built in ftp client won't upload new files

iWeb's built in ftp client is mad at me, refusing to upload new files. No doubt because last Sunday I asked GoDaddy to change my domain name (same site, name changed). They did. Immediately nothing would upload. GoDaddy said "Well some FTPs are picky." Problems continued so I said OK, please change the domain name back to its previous name, and all would be put right again. I thought.
No so. iWeb's ftp client seems still offended for having been disturbed. I make a change. Save. Click Publish Site Changes. Get the window saying Content Rights. Click Continue. The blue line scrolls nicely, "Publishing will continue in the background" shows, then **"Your site has been published"**...
...but no changes or files have been uploaded. The old page is the same.
Looks like I permanently po'd iWeb’s ftp. Should I give up and rebuild my site in a new folder? Try Fetch?
I shouldn't have done that stupid thing last Sunday. Live and learn.

The root folder on the server is the top level one that you upload your files to.
You publish your website files to a local folder on your Mac. This produces an index.html file and a folder with the same name as your site in iWeb.
An FTP application transfers the files on your Mac to the root folder on the server using File Transfer Protocol.
Unlike Cyberduck, most shareware FTP applications will show both the files on your Mac and those on the server in the same window so its just a question of browsing to the folder containing your website files on your Mac and dragging them across to the icon of the root folder on your server. The application will take care of the rest.
The process really is just about as simple as dragging files from one folder on your Mac to another as long as you have the FTP application set up correctly.
