Reader X and Windows 7 Printing Issue

We have upgraded are PC from windows xp to windows 7 64bit. When i try to print a PDF from the internet, sometimes it will print then, most of the time the PDF goes to non-responsive. I have to start the task manager and end the task, which closes the browser only thing i have found to work is if i do a resart of the PC.

Good day,
Could you provide some additional details about both the file and your system's configuration?
What version of Adobe Reader X do you have installed? (Help > About Adobe Reader)
If you haven't updated to 10.0.3, please do so and see if the issue persists.
How was the PDF file you're searching created?  (File > Document Properties > What does the PDF Producer line say?)
Are you experiencing this with multiple files?
Have you installed SP1 for Windows 7?

Ctrl+P usually does the trick... If it's not working for you you'll need to explain what exactly goes wrong. We're not mind-readers and can't help you without more detailed information about your set-up and the nature of the problem.

  • Help me solve color and dark print issue with a new monitor recommendation!

I know, I hate "surveys" too. I'm thinking of attacking my color and dark printing issues w\LR and CS4, by investing in a new monitor. I currently have an 20' early edition Apple Cinema Display. The monitor is the last hardware (software) item in my current upgrade cycle. From those folks who are NOT having color or print problems, what displays are you using (or would recommend)? Ah, and price is an issue. Apologies in advance to those who think this is not appropriate use of the Forum.

Monitor calibration is the first port of call. Sometimes changing one item in a system is enough to show up a colour management issue. You suggest that the monitor is the last item in your upgrade cycle, what all have you changed? Computer, printer? There may also be a setting you have failed to set when you installed the new software, eg. have you remembered to set relative colorimetric with the black point compensation box ticked, disable colour management in your printer driver and put an appropriate colour profile for your monitor onto the new computer? You also need the correct profile for your printer/paper combination set up in Photoshop.
If you haven't calibrated your monitor, that on its own will give you poor prints, but all the other bits are needed also.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.2 Print Issues - Windows Crash Error (2 Sided)

Have recently had issueswith our upgrades from 10.1.1 to 10.1.2 in regards to the following:
When printing 2 sided on a Fuji Xerox Firefly C4400 Atheros, application crashes after printing first 4 pages.
Thus, have tried the patch fix that was recommended on cpsid_92870 however this has not fixed the problem.
Have also tried the solution with the duplexing but still same issue, Windows crashes.
Have also tried solution to remove Windows patch KB4332667 and still same issue.
Screen shots will be provided upon request with the errors.
    Currently running:
    Windows XP SP3
    Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1.2
Printer Drivers are the latest and over 500 users on network. 485 are working on 10.1.1 which do not have this issue.
Is there any solution or 10.1.3 patch release that will address this issue?
Last Adobe user to work on this was Atul.

Sonal2890, thanks for your inquiry and I will try to provide as much information as possible.
    1. What happens if inspite of using 'Print on both sides', you check Duplex setting from Properties dialog (As you do previously)?
The Adobe Reader X Shuts down and is unable to print and displays a message stating it has incurred a problem. Please note, we are running IE7.
    2. What happens if you print with any other application (Word/notepad)
The documents print fine. IT is only when you print this particular document which is enabled in protected mode and double sided. Have tried the patch and the resolution of unticking the duplex methodology and the issue still persists.
Crash Logs have already been submitted already. Have added the SEnd Error Report that was provided when the error occurs. The PDF stopped printing after page 6 of a 236 page document and provided the error above.

  • Windows 7 and Bonjour--Printer issue--Need Help ASAP, Please!

Okay, add my name to the growing list of people with Windows 7 issues. (Actually, add my wife's name. I have a Mac, and I'm glad I do.)
Anyway--she has a new HP laptop with Windows 7 preloaded. We use Airport Express as a wireless router for our 5 year old HP PSC 1350 all in one printer, requiring the use of Bonjour 1.0.6 on her new laptop to print wirelessly. Except it is only printing about 2/3's of a page and quitting. This also fouls up the printing que, meaning nothing else will print on her unit. (I have not tried printing from the Mac while her HP is AFU.)
How do I rectify this, other than taking her HP back and getting the Mac she'd be happier with?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, as she's in school and needs to print a lot of papers.
    Doc

There has been no satisfactory answer to this. So, no, my question isn't really answered.
Instead, we bought a new wireless printer, and I removed Bonjour and AirPort from her Windoze 7 unit.
I'm not so thrilled, but she's happy. And if she's happy, it's okay.
    I guess.

Funny used to print PDF before some Update ???
Was it Windows or Adobe  that broke the PDF printing??

  • Adobe Reader Update causes weird printing issues

I recently updated my Adobe Reader to Adobe Reader X. I have a Toshiba with Windows 7 68-bit I believe. After updating to Reader X, I noticed that when I go to print a document, the print settings in Adobe are default set to Print on both sides. I was only printing 1 page so I ignored this and just hit Print, but what happened was really bizarre. The printer printed a blank 2nd page, and then Adobe prompted me to reset my even-numbered pages in the printer to proceed with double-sided printing. If I uncheck the Print on both sides option, I have no problems, everything prints fine. I understand there's already attention called to the bug in the update that defaults the print settings to Print on both sides and has trouble saving new settings. I don't care about that. This is what bothers me: Adobe and the computer and the printer and whatever else is involved should be able to communicate properly that if only 1 page is being printed, it need not print a 2nd blank page and basically force me through the double-sided print process if there's only 1 page, right? Isn't that sort of common sense? I don't mind having to uncheck the Print on both sides option when I go to print just 1 page, but it seems ridiculous to me that I should have to.
Just so you know, I installed the same Adobe Reader X update on a much older computer with a much older printer and had the same problem.
I am wondering if this is an Adobe problem or a printer problem. Neither of the 2 printers I tried this on do doulbe-sided printing automatically. They both require manual help to print on both sides. Will printers that automatically do double-sided printing also send the page through twice even if there is no 2nd page? Then this probably wouldn't be such an issue, if the printer did the double-sided printing itself, I wouldn't care if it passed the paper through twice.
But given that not all printers are equipped with automatic double-sided printing, this then becomes a real pain if I forget to uncheck the Print on both sides button because I then have to go through this entire 2-page process for 1 page. And my printer is in a common area, not right next to my computer, so it adds a lot of back and forth trying to print just 1 page.
Also I read up on previous posts about the default Print on both sides setting, and read one employee's comment that Adobe simply retains the last default setting used for printing PDFs. This is not true. Since my printer at home does not do automatic double-sided printing, I never ever ever use any double-sided printing setting. Even when I do print on both sides, I print odd pages first, flip them over and reset them in the printer, then send a second separate job to print even pages. Same with my work printer. I understand that by defaulting to the double-sided print setting, Adobe is sort of tricking you into saving paper and that's great and all, but all printers don't do double-sided printing automatically. I ended up wasting double the amount of paper last night trying to print a document last night while figuring this out, so way to go.

    Dear user,
We would request you to check your version from Help-> 'About Adobe Reader X' because we doubt that you are using an outdated version of Reader. Please update it to 10.1.3 because it was a known issue in 10.1.2 which got fixed by 10.1.3.
I would also request you to check your printer side setting from Control Panel-> Devices and Printers-> Right click Printer-> Printing Preferences-> Search for 'Print on both side or duplex printing' option (generally its under 'Finishing' tab)-> Uncheck it there if you are not using it.
Hope this will resolve your problem. Let us know the result.
    Thanks

  • Yet another Windows Printing Issue

I've searched the net and these forums all afternoon trying to resolve my printing issues. I've followed all the common links posted by people who are tired of explaining the solutions to no avail. I do have the Gutenprint 5.1.3 driver installed. It doesn't list the 2100TN, but lists the 2100.
    Gear:
    Windows 2003 Server
HP LaserJet 2100TN Printer attached shared through Win2k computer on the local network.
    PowerBook G4 (wireless)
I've been successful printing in the past with this equipment. I'm not sure what happened, except I do remember resetting the print services on my Mac a while ago. That wiped out all my printers. That must have been because I lost print capabilities to the LaserJet.
Any help is appreciated. This is a work environment and I need to print with my Mac fonts.

    Greg
Thank you for trying to help. The work environment is a Windows 2003 Server, about 10 Windows 2k computers on a single domain. The HP printer is connected via the printer port on a Reception desk computer and shared as 2100TN. Let's call this computer Shubunkin. Shubunkin shares the printer to all on the network, including (hopefully) my Powerbook G4, which is connected via a wireless router. The G4 accesses the network folders via Samba - smb. The IP address of Shubunkin is in the same subnet as the other computers.
Long story short, I have spent many hours trying to figure this out on multiple occasions. The last time I was connected was by a $100/hr tech that helped sort out some networking issues we were having after a move. At the end of the day, I asked him if he could take a look at my Mac and get the printer working. It took all of 10 min., but I'm not even sure he knew how he did it. He's a Windows tech. I do remember the printer showing up somewhere in the printer browser (AppleTalk maybe) on my Mac and choosing it. It was late and back last October.
I want to be concise; I'm just not sure what information you all need to help. I do appreciate any efforts!!

  • Ipod Nano and Lexmark printer issue

    Hiya,
I have a customer who has one of our computer systems with a strange problem with an iPod and Lexmark printer.
We have inspected the computer hardware itself and find that not to be an issue but when discussing the customers problem over the phone and trying various things, it appears when they have a Lexmark printer installed - IIRC it was a Z517, Windows XP is unable to find the drivers for the iPod nano - even with the driver disc inserted into the drive.
If he disconnects the Lexmark printer from the computer, and then plugs his iPod back in, Windows is then able to find the drivers fine.
If he removes the iPod and reconnects the printer, and then reconnects the iPod the problem comes back until the printer is removed.
I was just wondering if anybody had come across this before and if there was a solution for this? I have been unable to find any previous documentation on this issue.
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

    Thanks for your reply.
A bit of an update after speaking to the customer yesterday...
He had his iPod nano replaced under g'tee as he thought there might have been an issue with the iPod itself (this was yesterday). So he got a whole new product package (unit, cables, software...) but he still gets the problem.
Now when we had the computer back for testing, we also had his printer here. I had plugged in my Nokia N80 mobile, my iPod mini (without iTunes, just as disc drive mode), a USB memory stick, the Lexmark printer (Z517) and a SD memory card in the memory card reader - the problem did not arise what so ever - all functions were working correctly... transferring data between memory devices, printing on the printer - these were plugged in different ways around so that all devices were eventually plugged into the same USB controller at least once together. No whether there is a different power requirement for the iPod mini compared to the iPod nano I am not sure – although I would have thought the Nano would require less?!
When he plugs in the iPod, it comes up with the usual “found new hardware” message and asks him to install the drivers – in which Windows quickly replies it is unable to find any – this is with the Lexmark printer connected. Now if he disconnects the printer and reconnects the iPod by itself, again, windows has found new hardware and finds the right drivers for it almost straight away so I don’t think there is a power issue as this happens no matter what port its plugged into
I don’t think it has anything to do with faulty hardware as the printer has been replaced by Lexmark, the iPod has been replaced by the store where he bought it and we have tested his computer tower (at the place of manufacturer) with loads of other devices together and in different port combinations and we have been unable to replicate the fault…
Only other thing I can think of is there is just a general incompatibility between these 2 products and they just do not like each other, but on searching there does not seem enough “help my iPod does not work due to such and such a device” messages to support this theory.
Another theory is that it could be the USB chipset on the motherboard of the computer and when these 2 devices are connected at the same time, they go completely mental and start throwing a tantrum – although the motherboard is using the good old Via USB Rev 5+ chips (as reported by Windows)…
I am at a complete loss!

  • Lion, Boot Camp and Windows 7 Issues

Couple of questions regarding Lion, Boot Camp and Windows 7... I never had issues with Snow Leopard and setting up Windows 7 on my iMac (expcept the dreaded black screen after restart, bu got that fixed)
Let me start off with my specs and then I will ask my questions:
    iMac 27"
    i7 Quad Core (1st gen)
    16GB Ram
    1TB HDD
OS X Lion (Fresh Install - Not Upgrade)
All updates for OS and iLife and other installed software:
    Adobe Creative Suite CS5
    MS Office 2011
    Boot Camp 4.0
    Window 7 Ultimate
    Ok... here are my questions.
When I fixed my black screen issues after installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 - I had to install MacFUSE and Tuxera NTFS in order to delete the the stock ATI driver so the second rebot on the install of windows 7 would work and boot correctly. After rebotting into my mac side I now always get this message from Tuxera.
What does this mean? Now in the finder when looking at the computer drives.. It does not show the BOOTCAMP partition...
However, when I resart i can hold down the ALT key and get this menu:
I know this might seem strange to ask, but why are the Macintosh HD and the Recovery HD text smoothed and the Windows text not? Being a design I see the difference and it makes me wonder why this is. (It is almost like the BSOD icon apple used forwhen connecting with shared PCs)... Anyways, I can boot into windows when clicking this drive.
After getting to windows 7 it will not let me run updated. The OS is activated and I have even installed SP1 manually, but it always tells me that the Update service is not running. When in fact it is. I have checked it and it is set to start automatically. I have reset and shutdown my computer more than 10 times... I can't figure out what the issues are.
    Overview:
Why do I get the Tuxera NTFS error?
Why can I see the boot camp partion when manually selecting it form startup, but it does not show in OS X
I can't get Windows to update? Any ideas?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

These various utilities like Tuxera are incompatible with Lion. Partly because MacFuse is incompatible. You need to remove them completely.
As for the Windows partition you might consider using Boot Camp Assistant to remove it. Then make a new partition and install Windows. Remember to use the Windows formatter to format the Windows partition NTFS.

  • New hard drive and Windows 7 issues

I bought a new 1 Tetra Samsung hard drive for my computer since 150GB was not enough. I did this because I need windows partitioned for school. After I installed the hard drive and inserted the Mac OS disk, it would not recognize the hard drive to install. Since then, I have read previous forums such as: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3322843?start=0&tstart=0
Now, the issue is: I went ahead and installed my Windows XP SP2 because I could not get Mac OS to install. I have also downloaded the Windows 7 Professional update from Microsoft and have a Operating Disk on its way in the mail. I am having some issues with sound and camera and probably others that I don't know about yet, like my graphics card and such. What should I do?
    1. Erase HD and install the Mac OS, because I do want this on my computer. Then download updates for Windows 7 bootcamp and reinstall Windows 7 when I get it in the mail.
    or,
    2. Is there a way to fix the driver issues that I am having without having to reinstall windows. I have not tried to partition yet and install mac.
I think it would be best to:
    Install Mac OS
    Download updates
    Bootcamp and Install Windows 7
What do you think and do you have any advice as how I should go about this. Oh, btw, living in a PC world and coming home to my Macbook Pro 3,1 and realizing that it is not as functional is kinda disappointing.
So, I found this site for the sound: http://www.stuffedcow.net/macbook_audio
    And: http://www.cirrus.com/en/products/cs4207.html
I am not sure how to go about installing a new driver. Do I download and save or do I run a certain .exe?
I found this post and was reading, but I am not certain about the right driver for the sound. If I erase the hard drive and install mac. Then, bootcamp and install windows, will I loose my wifi driver? Windows 7 should have that update, but according to this post, it may not.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2534313

If I were in your shoes I would want to understand why I couldn't install OSX on the internal drive before going any further. Without getting past that hurdle you may or may not be successful in your aims, but you are outside mainstream intended ways of running Bootcamp.
    Just a couple of starters:-
    1. Is your internal hard drive (samsung) formatted with a GUID partition table and HFS+ file system? All done in Disk Utility, booted from the Install disk.
    2. The Apple Install disk (plus subsequent Apple Software Updates) has all the drivers Bootcamp needs, without having to find and download from elsewhere. I run Windows 7 64 bit on two Macs and have never had to go and find a driver. (Of course Windows does it automatically for me for other hardware). Sorry if this next point is insultingly obvious, but just to check that you know you can put the Apple Install Disk in while running Windows and Windows find the installer.
You don't say anything what your MBP is or what version of OSX you are running. I am not fully up to date with the inplications of Lion and Bootcamp drivers as there is no install disk. I believe 2011 MBPs won't run XP.
Your comment "Oh, btw, living in a PC world and coming home to my Macbook Pro 3,1 and realizing that it is not as functional is kinda disappointing" implies that you haven't had a Mac very long. Although Macs are easy to pick up and use, there is a LOT to learn about customisation and using it properly and getting the most out of them. I have a number of relatives who still use OSX "out of the box"....it's like driving a car in first gear, and complaining "this car doesn't go very fast". Not a perfect analogy as speed is not the issue here.
Sorry if some of this post is missing the target...just take on board the bits that apply.

This means that your scanner software or driver is not correctly installed.

ever since installing 10.5.5 i've been having printing issues... like many people are reporting, my InDesign prints at about 400%... i can get around that by exporting PDFs and then printing those.
but, one serious bug i'm having is that my Quickbooks invoices are defaulting to landscape mode in the printer and it can't be changed... even if i export a PDF it's in landscape mode.
    help help..!

I think I was wrong in that statement it looks like 10.5.5 works the same way.

  • Smartforms / Font and Lanscape printing issue

    Hello,
I have developed a smartforms which is in landscape format. When I look at the output which is a pdf the smartform appears to ignore all of the smartstyles that are associated with it so all of the details are printed exactly the same size. Therefore, details as such line items are not appearing in the smaller size fonts I have specified.
What is more confusing is that I have another similar smartform which is in portrait format and the output which is  a pdf appears to work correctly. All the details on the output are in the correct sizes. Both of these smartforms use the same smartstyle and are being output from the same laser printer.
Is there some known issue where the fonts are ignored when being output in landscape by a laser printer?
    Thanking you in advance!

I'm assuming you are using the SAME fonts/sizes (not different ones as the other poster mentioned) and that's the reason for the confusion.  This is usually due to device type configuration and there are a couple of things you can check (or get the Basis Admin to help you out):
    - Set your default printer in Windows appropriately and then print the spool or spool preview to LOCL.  Does this work?  If so, you've definitely got an SAP device type config issue.
    - Go to SPAD and look at the device type assigned to your output device.  Then look at the page format assigned to your device type.  Is your landscape page format assigned (it should be, otherwise you would get an error when printing)?  If so, compare the two page formats assigned to the device type - are they the same?  Do you have any initialization sequences assigned to one and not the other?  Or are the sequences different?
    - If all else fails, double-check that the devices and user IDs used for the PDF conversion are the same

Hi I am using Adobe Reader X with Windows 7 enterprise when reading a 8000 page document when I do a search I notice that the memory on my machine starts to creep up typically 1Mb per search this will continue to rise to over 300Mb as the document is used until it reaches a point that it freezes the machine, The only way to recover is Ctrl-Alt-Delete and cancel the task. • Adobe Reader  2002 and Windows Mobile 6

    Hello,
has anyone experience with Adobe Reader and Windows Mobile 6?
I'm using an E-Ten M700 and the Reader (I tried ARM-Version and 2.0) installed itself perfectly but when started the loading icon appears shortly and nothing happens.
Is the Reader no good with WM 6?

    >>> Will the pocketpc for win 2003 work on a win mobile 6 device and does it reflow PDF documents. <<
In general, all ppc apps will run on current winmobile _ppc_ devices (must have touch screen) so, the answer is yes unless something such as a locked device disallows installing apps.
As for reflow, that is an issue of the pdf files... they must be "tagged" in order to allow reflow on the ppc.
The sync process attempts to tag synced pdf files, but, this will only happen on the sync pc which installed acrobat reader.
Full Acrobat also has the ability to add tags (advanced/accessibility/ make accessible) but some pdfs may not allow tags to be added due to protection levels or those which have any tags anywhere in the document or those where the text is a scanned image.
