Readin IDM database from ABAP

Hello,
I would like to know where could I find an API description how to communicate from ABAP to the IDM database. IDM is said to be opened, so other system can read from it. That should mean ABAP too. Can anybody point me to such information source, provide a link to an example code, something to start from?
Thanks Otto

I have the similar requirement. Please help me.
The IdM (7.2) has been directly connected to ECC clients via Jco RFC (No VDS). But for the other business suit clients (CRM, SRM, ..), it is connected via VDS.
Here is my requirement. Due to the security reasons, we have decided to maintain some translation data in the IdM instead of SAP tables. Translation data is very simple. It will have two columns with ZID and EID.
Forward Translation is from ZID to EID
Reverse Translation is from EID to ZID
We would like to use these translations in the interfaces and conversions. During the execution of interface/conversion, if the program encounters ZID, it should be translated to EID using some methods. Since the data is not in SAP tables, we have to get it from IdM.
Since there is no VDS, do I need to read the IdM database directly? What are the steps involved in this process from ABAP developer point of view and also from IdM team? It would be great, it you suggest some examples.
Thanks for reading and your help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Accessing MsSQL Database from ABAP

    Hi Guys,
I want to connect to an external MsSQL Database running in a window environment from an ABAP Report program where the SAP instance running in a Linux OS with DB2 as a Database. I tried all options suggested in all public forums like maintaining DBCON table entry & placing compatible dll files. I need answers from individuals who have done it in the recent past with this environment not beating bushes.
    Thanks in advance.

Q4: My SAP System runs under Oracle (DB2, SAPDB, ...) and I want to exchange data with a non-SAP Microsoft SQL Server directly from ABAP. A4: The establishing and use of connections from an R/3 system to another non-SAP database (from the same vendor or not) is called multi-connect and is described in note 178949.
But you must have a specific application server running on Windows if you want to connect SAP to your Microsoft SQL server with DBCON.

  • Querying an SQL Database from ABAP

Is is possible from within ABAP in R/3 (or NetWeaver) to query a non-SAP database? For example, can I write ABAP code which will go after data in say a non SAP DB2 database at some remote location?
    Kevin

    Hi
Connecting to an External database from SAP
Step 1: Create an entry for the External database in DBCON table using Trxn: DBCA.
Table: DBCON (Description of Database Connections)
Field Name Description Value (For: E.g.:)
CON_NAME Logical name for a database connection RAJ
    DBMS Database system MSS
    USER_NAME Database user <username>
PASSWORD Password for setting up the connection to the database <pwd>/<pwd>
    CON_ENV Database-specific information for a database connection MSSQL_SERVER=depotserver MSSQL_DBNAME=HOF_INDORE
DB_RECO Availability type for an open database connect
Step 2: Now you can write code to connect to the external database…
Your Sample code can be something like this……
    DATA: BEGIN OF wa,
    c_locid(3),
    c_locname(50),
    c_locstate(5),
    END OF wa.
    EXEC SQL.
    CONNECT TO 'RAJ' AS 'V'
    ENDEXEC.
    EXEC SQL.
    SET CONNECTION 'V'
    ENDEXEC.
*- Get the data from MS-SQL Server
    EXEC SQL.
    open C1 for
    select
    loc_id,
    loc_name,
    loc_state
    from ho_loc_mast
    ENDEXEC.
    DO.
    EXEC SQL.
    FETCH NEXT C1 into :wa-c_locid, :wa-c_locname, :wa-c_locstate
    ENDEXEC.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
    PERFORM loop_output.
    ELSE.
    EXIT.
    ENDIF.
    ENDDO.
    EXEC SQL.
    CLOSE C1
    ENDEXEC.
    *& Form LOOP_OUTPUT
    Output
    FORM loop_output .
    WRITE: /5 wa-c_locid, 10 wa-c_locname, 65 wa-c_locstate.
    CLEAR wa.
    ENDFORM. " LOOP_OUTPUT

  • Constraints in shifting UME from portal database to ABAP

    Hi All,
We want to move our UME to ABAP and checking for the problems and constraints in this process.I have read in the below link that due to ABAP engine constraints User can change his password only once in  a day.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/EN/84/10594aecd3e1408845e66c432b955e/frameset.htm
We want to give the option for the user to change the password more than once in  a day from EP . Please suggest me that Can we overcome this constraint in any way or is it unavoidable? Please tell me if there are any other constraints in shifting the database to ABAP. Please help.

    Dear Sharath,
Due to the security policy of the AS-ABAP system, users can change their passwords only once per day. However, if the administrator provides a new password, the user can and must change his or her password the next time he or she logs on.
This is fixed in the system and cannot be changed.
Another important constraint is that once you have chosen this data source configuration, you cannot change to any other data source configuration.
For other constraints while using ABAP as data source, please refer to this link:

  • Call IDM Rest API from ABAP

    Good day experts,
We have a requirement to add privileges to users in IDM via a call from a SAP GRC system
Does anyone have example code of such a call in an ABAP function module?
    Thanking you in advance,
    Johan Kriek

    Martin,
    Thanks for your reply.
I tried the Web Service way of doing it, seems to be working alright but again it comes with all the security issues and all around the Web Service.
I am exploring the use of JCO RFC Service provider, to call a JAVA program from ABAP. Hopefully that should work.
    Thanks again.

  • Passing data from abap-program to mssql database table thro native sql

    Hi,
To pass the data from abap-program to mssql server,i have created database connection through dbco t.code.
now i am trying to get connection thro native sql but am not able to get it .Am working in ECC 5.0.
Could anyone help me on this.Did i miss anything?
i have tried Native-sql like this.
DATA: CON_NAME LIKE DBCON-CON_NAME VALUE 'BIW'.
    EXEC SQL.
      CONNECT TO :con_name AS 'C1'
    ENDEXEC.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Trying to do the same here, only using Oracle DB.
DATA:     dbc TYPE DBCON_NAME VALUE 'BI'
    TRY.
      EXEC SQL.
        CONNECT TO :dbc
      ENDEXEC.
      IF sy-subrc NE 0.
        RAISE EXCEPTION TYPE cx_sy_native_sql_error.
      ENDIF.
    CATCH cx_sy_native_sql_error INTO oref_native_sql_error.
      sql_emsg = oref_native_sql_error->get_text( ).
      MESSAGE sql_emsg TYPE 'I'.
    ENDTRY.
I keep getting the message 'Native SQL exception has occured' (because of the RAISE statement, I wonder how we can get a meaningfull error description).
Of course this can be a result of a number of network issues, so I'm trying to resolve this together with my BC admin.
I suggest the same to you..
In the meantime, if anyone can help out, it will be appreciated.

  • Tracing queries from abap to a custom database via dblink

I' m connecting to a database by dblink (name magiap).
I would like to know if somewhere I can trace all the queries from abap to oracle in this specific session , to dbs ='MAGIAP'.

    FROM "T040PARTY"
WHERE "CODPARTY" = '305142941' will be stored some where (in a file??).
I would like that parameters - w_CODPARTY- will be substituted and stored in the trace file with the value (305142941), as shown in the previous
Here is the piece of code ..(a very short example of course)..
    DATA : dbs LIKE dbcon-con_name,
    v_CODPARTY(15),
    v_DESPARTY1(60).
    data : w_CODPARTY(15) value '305142941'.

    Hi Silvana,
The SQL statements have been stored in the SQL Cursor Cache, on the database and they will be available until they have been invalidated. You can access the statements at the 'MAGIAP' side and see the last executed queries in the cache.
You can access bind variables by query on the V$SQL_BIND_CAPTURE table, also.
    On the other hand, you can activate the trace by the statement, below;
    ALTER SYSTEM SET sql_trace = true SCOPE=MEMORY;
Then, the sql statements will be available in the usertrace file. Please note that you should execute and investigate all the statements that I noted above, at the remote side. Plus, as far as I know that it is not able to distinguish the records by the "dblink name". You should check all the statements and try to figure out what queries have been executed remotely.

  • Is it possible to read a mySQL database from an ABAP report?

We have some information stored in a mySQL database which is now required on ABAP reports.
Is it possible to read the mySQL database from an ABAP report? I'm still a bit confused on that.
So far I have setup DBCO with information about the mySQL server using MMS as the DBS because mySQL was not an option. I have made sure we have the latest dbmssslib.dll installed.
When I try to run the following code
    EXEC SQL.
        CONNECT TO :con
    ENDEXEC.
I get error: SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
Then I have tried to connect using the function CHECK_CONNECTION_SDB.
I get the following messages in the return table:
    1     OS-AppServ:Windows NT
    2     dbmcli_neg: no_client_software
    3     dbmrfc_c_neg: no_client_software
    4     dbmrfc_s_neg: no_client_software
    5     sql_neg
    6     work_proc: 1
Does anyone know what I need to do to connect to the mySQL database.
    Thank you
    Karen

Thank you for your reply. I've gone through all the documentation you sent and much more and I'm still not sure what the problem is.
One thing that concerns me is that this all relates to MS SQL server and I'm trying to link to a mySQL database. Is this even possible?
Some posts talk about changing Oracle settings and having J2EE installed. Is this necessary to connect to a mySQL database via ABAP?
Which user should I enter into DBCO? Is it the mySQL server user or a SAP user? Does the person in charge of the mySQL database need to add any permissions for SAP to access the database or is that done by the user in DBCO?
Does anyone have any more advice?
    Thank you
    Karen
Also, does anyone know what the messages from the CHECK_CONNECTION_SDB function mean
    1 OS-AppServ:Windows NT
    2 dbmcli_neg: no_client_software
    3 dbmrfc_c_neg: no_client_software
    4 dbmrfc_s_neg: no_client_software
    5 sql_neg
    6 work_proc: 1

  • Logical Database in Abap Objects

    Hi to All
I want do it a program report using a Logical Database.
Is this possible ??? But when I make a GET <node>, occurs the following error:
             "" Statement "ENDMETHOD" missing.  ""
    I'm doing the following:
    CLASS MONFIN IMPLEMENTATION.
           METHOD TRAER_DATOS.
                   GET VBRK.
           ENDMETHOD.
    ENDCLASS.
Please, somebody tell me how I use the logical database in Abap Objects.
    Thank you very much
    Regards
    Dario R.

    Hi there
Logical databases whilst of "some use" are not really part of OO.
If you want to use a logical database in an abap OO program I would create a special class which just does the get data from your DB and pass this either at record or table level.
Techniques such as GET XXXX LATE aren't really part of any OO type of application since at Object Instantiation time you should be able to access ALL the attributes of that object.
As far as OO is concerned Logical databases are a throwback to "Dinosaur Technology".
Since however modules such as SD and FI are still heavily reliant on relational structures (i.e linked tables etc)  then there is still some limited life in this stuff but for OO try and solve it by another method.
If you really must use this stuff in OO then do it via a FMOD call and save the data in a table which your method will pass back to your application program.
You can't issue a GET command directly in a method.
    Cheers
    Jimbo

Should 1  database  in ABAP  have one DBMS &  one KERNEL&BASIS SERVICES?

    Hi,
Each database server in SAP will have one DBMS only.  You can navigate from sap ABAP easy access screen through the menu   System--> Status
Besides the navigate there will be yellow arrow mark [ System: Kernel information].  Here you will get the details of your dbms, kernel release and other related details.

  • Consuming Sharepoint webservice from Abap

Hi, I have a need to access a Sharepoint database from SAP.  I am using the search.aspx webservice that sharepoint offers, or at least trying to.  I set up an abap proxy from the WSDL that sharepoint supplied (which was not the best WSDL).  From my ABAP I need to call the sharepoint service and I am having a little difficulty getting a result back.
Here is the ABAP code I have so far:
DATA: gr_query  TYPE REF TO zgms_cycletimeco_query_service,
          gs_input  TYPE zgms_cycletimequery_soap_in,
          gs_output TYPE zgms_cycletimequery_soap_out.
DATA: oref   TYPE REF TO cx_root,
          text   TYPE string,
          oref2   TYPE REF TO cx_root,
          text2   TYPE string.
    CREATE OBJECT gr_query.
    CONCATENATE 'get_text( ).
    ENDTRY.
I am trying to retrieve the record that contains HE2009-0624-084648 with no luck.
The error message I get says no results found.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?  Do I need to specify the field in sharepoint that contains this data?
    Thanks in advance,
    René

Thanks for your reply.  I actually tested today in SE80 on the proxy, and the request was formatted as:
    <n0:Query xmlns:n0="urn:Microsoft.Search" xmlns:prx="urn:sap.com:proxy:PLD:/1SAI/TAS4ADD6B94366302A825F7:700:2007/10/04">
    <n0:queryXml>This is a string 6</n0:queryXml>
    </n0:Query>
When I execute it, the reponse is:
    - <n0:QueryResponse xmlns:n0="urn:Microsoft.Search" xmlns:prx="urn:sap.com:proxy:PLD:/1SAI/TAS4ADD6B94366302A825F7:700:2007/10/04">

      </n0:QueryResponse>
I don't really know what the format would be in between the queryXml tags.  If anyone knows, please help!
    Thanks.

  • Connecting to IDMS database via JDBC

Has anyone successfully set up JDBC connectivity to generate reports using data in an IDMS mainframe database containing multiple schemas, where several schemas may contain tables with the same name?
We have no issues when using ODBC to connect to the various schemas in this IDMS databases, but we need to convert the connectivity for existing reports to JDBC.
When I open the JDBC connection, I see the expected hierarchy of schemas and tables in the Database Expert window.  If I try to select a table I get the following error message if a table of that same name exists in other schemas:
Failed to retrieve data from the database.
Details:  SQL exception: [SQL State:]  42000  [Error message:]  DB002046 T11094 C-4M347: Duplicate table ids for ASISCHEM.SR-ACT and CORPCHEM.SR-ACT in area CORPDB.ACTIVITY-AREA [Database Vendor Code: -4]
So although we can connect to the database via JDBC, we can't use the connectivity because Crystal  does not appear to correctly resolve that I'm selecting the table from within a specific schema.
Can anyone advise on how to make sure the table name selection is qualified by the correct schema name?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Try running the query outside of CR to verify the JDBC driver is passing the fully qualified name also.
Then look in the Designer and Show SQL to verify it's there as well as Set Table Location. You may be able to fully qualify it in that UI.
    Thank you

    Hi You Nakamura,
We are facing the same problem during AS ABAP - initial load with the same error message.
I downloaded the msvcp71.dll file and placed it in System32 folder. But the problem remains the same (even after server restart).
The system log shows the same error message and no entries in job log.
Please let me know if you had followed any different way to install the dll file.

  • Current Security Context Not Trusted When Using Linked Server From ABAP

    Hello,
I am experiencing a head-scratcher of a problem when trying to use a Linked Server connection to query a remote SQL Server database from our R/3 system.  We have had this working just fine for some time, but after migrating to new hardware and upgrading OS, DBMS, and R/3, now we are running into problems.
The target database is a named instance on SQL Server 2000 SP3, Windows 2000 Server.  The original source R/3 system was 4.7x2.00, also on SQL Server 2000 (SP4), Windows 2000 Server.  I had been using a Linked Server defined via SQL Enterprise Manager (actually defined when the source was on SQL Server 7), which called an alias defined with the Client Network Utility that pointed to the remote named instance.  This alias and Linked Server worked great for several years.
Now we have migrated our R/3 system onto new hardware, running Windows Server 2003 SP1 and SQL Server 2005 SP1.  The application itself has been upgraded to ECC 6.0.  I performed the migration with a homogeneous system copy, and everything has worked just fine.  I redefined the Linked Server on the new SQL 2005 installation, this time avoiding the alias and referencing the remote named instance directly, and it tests out just fine using queries from SQL Management Studio.  It also tests fine with OSQL called from the R/3 server console, both when logged on as SAPServiceSID with a trusted connection, and with a SQL login as the schema owner (i.e., 'sid' in lowercase).  From outside of R/3, I cannot make it fail.  It works perfectly.
That all changes when I try to use the Linked Server within an ABAP application, however.  The basic code in use is
    EXEC SQL.
       SET XACT_ABORT ON
       DELETE FROM [SERVER\INSTANCE].DATABASE.dbo.TABLE
    ENDEXEC.
The only thing different about this code from that before the upgrade/migration is the reference to [SERVER\INSTANCE] which previously used the alias of just SERVER.
The program short dumps with runtime error DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR, exception CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR.  The database error code is 15274, and the error text is "Access to the remote server is denied because the current security context is not trusted."
I have set the "trustworthy" property on the R/3 database, I have ensured SAPServiceSID is a member of the sysadmin SQL role, I've even made it a member of the local Administrators group on both source and target servers, and I've done the same with the SQL Server service account (it uses a domain account).  I have configured the Distributed Transaction Coordinator on the source (Win2003) system per Microsoft KB 839279 (this fixed problems with remote queries coming the other way from the SQL2000 system), and I've upgraded the system stored procedures on the target (SQL2000) system according to MS KB 906954.  I also tried making the schema user a member of the sysadmin role, but naturally that was disastrous, resulting in an instant R/3 crash (don't try this in production!), so I set it back the way it was (default).
What's really strange is no matter how I try this from outside the R/3 system, it works perfectly, but from within R/3 it does not.  A search of SAP Notes, SDN forums, SAPFANS, Microsoft's KnowledgeBase, and MSDN Forums has not yielded quite the same problem (although that did lead me to learning about the "trustworthy" database property).
Any insight someone could offer on this thorny problem would be most appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Matt

Good news! We have got it to work. However, we did it in something of
a backwards way, and I'm sure you'll laugh when you see how it was done. Also, the solution depends upon the fact that the remote server is still using SQL Server 2000, and so doesn't have quite so many restrictions placed upon it for distributed transactions and Linked Servers as SQL Server 2005 now does.
At the heart of the solution is the fact that the Linked Server coming FROM the remote server TO our SAP system works fine. Finally, coupled with the knowledge that using DBCON on the SAP side to the remote server also does actually provide a connection (see Notes 323151 and 738371), we set up a roundabout way of achieving our goal. In essence, from ABAP, we set up the DBCON connection to the remote server, at which point all the Native SQL commands execute in the context of the remote server. From within that connection, we
reference the tables in SAP via the Linked Server defined on the remote
server, as if SAP were the remote server, selecting data from SAP and inserting it into the remote (but apparently local to this connection) tables.
So, to spell it out, we define a Linked Server on the remote server pointing back to the SAP server as SAPSERV, with a SQL login mapping defined on the remote system pointing back to a SQL login in the SAP database. We also define a connection to the remote server from SAP using DBCON, using that remote SQL login for authentication.
Then, in our ABAP code, we simply do something along the lines of
    exec sql.
       set connection 'REMOTE'
    endexec.
    exec sql.
       connect to 'REMOTE'
    endexec.
    exec sql.
       insert into REMOTE_TABLE
          select * from SAPSERV.SID.sid.SAP_TABLE
    endexec.
    exec sql.
       commit
    endexec.
    exec sql.
       disconnect 'REMOTE'
    endexec.
This is, of course, a test program, but it demonstrated that it worked,
and we were able to see that entries were appropriately deleted and inserted in the remote server's table. The actual program for use is a little more complex, in that there are about four different operations at different times, and we had to resolve the fact that the temp table SAP_TABLE was being held in a lock by our program, resulting in a deadly embrace, but our developer was able to work that out, and all is now well.
I don't know if this solution will have applicability to any other customers, but it works for us, for now.
SAPSERV, REMOTE, REMOTE_TABLE, and SAP_TABLE are, of course, placeholder names, not the actual server or table names, so as not to confuse anyone.
    Best regards,
    Matt
