Reading data from another clients network connection

I would like anyone who know to direct me to some resources for how one could write code that can read data from a port without "binding" to it. In other words, I have an application running on windows talking to a server. I want to monitor that conversation with a separate java application. This is a simple sort of a firewall.
Is there a java api available, or a part of a package that can do this? So far, I have only seen information on binding to a port, which prevents the client from running at the same time as my java application.

The simplest way to implement this is to create a proxy. The client connects to your proxy and your proxy connects and forward all data. Montioring this is then trivial.
You could snoop the network, but I don't know and easy way to this in Java. Perhaps google has something.

There are a couple of ways to do this. One, you can create an executable on the other non-sap system that you can call from SAP as a system command. So let us say you write a unix script that takes a value as input and returns a flag as output. Within the script you will check that value against this non-sap database. In SAP, you will create a system command in SM69 and then execute it in your program via function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
Alternatively, you can use the RFC route but you need to setup RFC connection between the two systems.
You can also bring this validation table into SAP as a one time or periodically updated table and then do the validations within SAP.

Syntax error in reading data from another DSO

I have written a end routine to read business area from another dso the code is as follows.

    LOOP AT RESULT_PACKAGE ASSIGNING -BUS_AREA = lw_c_wa-bus_area.
      refresh lw_c_wa.
      ENDIF.
    endloop.
but i am getting the following error:
E:"FROM ...", "CONNECTION ...", "BYPASSING BUFFER", "PACKAGE SIZE ...",
or "UP TO ... ROWS" expected after "LW_C_WA".
i am not able to debug this.

Try to debug using DTP. (Goto DTP ---> Execute Tab ---> Choose processing mode as "Serially in Dialog Process (For Debugging).
Or goto transformation -
> Extras --> Display generated code ---> put a break point here and execute the DTP. Then you can debug the code.

Reading data from another cube

Hi All,
I have a cube, lets say with 6 fields. I am getting the data for the 1st 3 fields directly from R/3. I have the data for the remaining fields in some other cube. Now, I have to get the data for the remaining 3 fields from 2nd cube based on the 1st 3 fields.
I know that this is possible but I am not sure how to do this. Can someone let me know the steps to do this.

u can follow the method suggested by dinesh with the help of ABAPer.
There is also few another way. Let me tell you how.
First way :
declare source cube as a export datasource.
create update rule for target cube from source cube and update only required fields.
cons: this method will unnecessarily consume more database.
remedy: u can use multiprovider for reporting which will pull data from all possible required cubes.
Second way:
u can use one infosource to fed several cubes at the same time. With this u can update only required fields into another/target cube.
This procedure will increase loading time as infosource is feeding to several data targets.

Using import script to read data from another location

Hi,
I need to find a way to import, in one location, the data of all other locations (with some additional transformations) using an integration script.
I think I should be able to read from the recordset returned by farsTable, but I need to know how to find the table name that contains the data from my other locations.

First you will need to read the tpovlocation table to get the location key and segment key for each location to be read. You can then either read the relevent tdataseg(index) table where the index is the segment key from the location table, or alternatively you could try to access the data from the View (which i think is Vdata) in which case you you will not need the segment key.

Adobe offline form with capablity to read data from a local data base.

We have customer requirement for a offline Adobe form which will be used by Sales rep, this form when saved to the local hard disk is required to read data from another local data base available in the laptop and prefill a few fields in the form .
Is this requirement technically feasible using Adobe forms?

Well may be it's possible because if you go to the Data View in ALD and create a new Data Connection --> OLEDB database --> Build --> It gives you various options for connecting to different DBs but frankly speaking I have never tried it.

i'm playing a little bit with Windows Azure and I'm blocked with a really simple issue (or maybe not).
I've created a Cloud Service containing one simple Worker Role. I've configured an EndPoint in the WorkerRole configuration, which allows Input connections via tcp on port 10100.

As you can see, nothing special is being done. I've used the RoleEnvironment.CurrentRoleInstance.InstanceEndpoints to retrieve the current IPEndpoint.
Running the Cloud Service in the Windows Azure Compute Emulator everything works fine, but when I deploy it in Azure, then I receive the following Exception:

I've already tried to configure an internal port in the ServiceDefinition.csdef file, but I get the same exception there.
As you can see, the client can connect to the service (the log shows the message: Client connected with the address) but when it tries to read the bytes from the stream, it throws the exception.
For me it seems like Azure is preventing the retrieval of the message. I've tried to disable the Firewall in the VM in Azure and the same continues happening.
I'm using Windows Azure SDK 2.3

hmmm, CTS = cutomizing transport?
If you have a customizing table, there are still two possibilities.
1. customize in DEV system and transport
2. customize right there where you need it.
this depends on how the maintainance view is built. If it is a simple customizing table and you get not asked for a TR when customizing a new record or changing an existing one, you hit possibility 2.

HTTP-500 Error Reading Data from Client!!

I'm trying to create a page where by clients are able to contact us through the portal. So, it's a pretty basic form where I have a text box for the subject, and a text area for the message body.
My problem is when the message body is over a certain size, I'm getting a "portlet cannot be contacted" on my screen. The Apache log comes up with the error:
[error] mod_plsql: /pls/portal/!PORTAL.wwpob_page.show HTTP-500 Error Reading Data from Client!!
I'm not using a windows OS, so the bug that has been talked about previously talked about shouldn't be the problem.
Also, I am using a POST rather than a GET, so I don't think it has to do with the browser (and I have tested this on Firefox and IE 5.5 and IE 6).
Would appreciate any advise.

Are you using SSL? Maybe, it has to do with it. I encountered a similar problem. It turned up that this read error occurred inside Apache and was caused by a nonstandard-SSL-request by Internet Explorer. te remedy was to add this to the Apache configuration:

nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0
It tells Apache to switch to HTTP/1.0 and to never keep open socket connections with MSIE on SSL connections.

When I was talking on phone, suddenly the phone was switched off. i tried to switch it on but it gave the message....connect to itunes for set up. when I connected it to itunes...it gave the message, itunes can not read data from this iphone, restore it

I restored the factory settings....the phone was on recovery mode...it was verified by itunes and all that..but in the end it again said that iphone has some problem and can not function right now.
after that when ever i connect it with itunes, it gives the message, it can not activate the iphone further, try again later or contact customer service.
What to do now?????? Customer service people say..it is hardware problem

If it's a hardware problem, then the phone will need to be replaced.
There is no magic that can fix a hardware problem.

Check any of below methods
Refer thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/171981 where people use IDOCs for master data transfer.
OR
This is done by BASIS team, by client refresh or client copy. Check with your basis team for this and there is some predefined time when they plan this activity, and in most project they do it once in 3 months etc to get production environment in test system which helps to resolve issues of production by creating similar case in test system.

OR
You can download data from one client and upload in another through BDC or LSMW.

How to read data from a connected modem

any one can help me? how to read data from a connected modem. The modem received real-time data from other server. The data is in text format. I can see this text when I used hyperterminal for dial up and the data is accumulated such as:

since it is real-time data, I want to read one line each time instantly when it arrives.

How to read data from a file that is already open by another program

Hey..
I have made IV, where I'm trying to read data from a log file, that is being updated by another program while my IV runs.
To be clear, this program writes data continuously to this file and I want to read from the file in LV at the same time.
The problem is that LV reports an error when I'm trying to read the log file, even if I use to "read only" mode.
I believe that the program that is producing the file, have some kind of lock on the file. I have tryed to copy the file and then reading from the copied file, but LV throws already an error when I try to copy the file.
Has anyone tryed this, and found a solution.?
Additional info: The program that produces the file is STM Studio

when that file is locked by the other program you can't do anything about that - apart from quitting that other program. Probably this isn't an option to you…

Hi,
You can do this thru your program itself, by using
the CLIENT-SPECIFIED keyword in addition to you
INSERT statement.
This addition deactivates the automatic client handling of Open SQL.
If the addition CLIENT SPECIFIED is used,
the client identifier specified in source is taken into account.
Without the addition CLIENT SPECIFIED, the ABAP runtime environment
does not transfer the client identifier specified in source
to the database system,
but transfers the identifier of the current client instead.
