Reading severl files in file adapter sender

Hi all,
I need to read several files and perform checks on there attributes,
like name and date of creation.
and only if the checks are o.k i need to transfer them to, otherwise i need to send an email reporting the error.
I saw in the sender file adapter an option of reading several files, how does it work, how can i perform the checks.
I thing that i can also perform this task using BPM, but from whet I understand it can be problematic when reading big files.
Thanks,
Naama

You are going to pick the files of same types or different types?
If it is of same type: Use below informtion.
file.sourceFileName=<filename>
Specify the name of the file that you want to process.
The name can contain a placeholder (*) at any point, so as to be able to select a list of files for processing.
The following are valid examples for filename:
myFile.txt
my*.txt
*.txt

Names that comprise more than two parts are also permitted.
If the files are of different types the use this approach:

  • Using sender file adapter to read the most current file

    Hi,
in my sender file adapter , i have to read the latest file- all files in  the source directory are named as <filename><timestamp>.txt . I need to read the file with the latest timestamp (i.e. the most current file )
How do i configure this using file adapter.
    thanks

    Hi Sreeram,
thanks for the answer- but i found that the option can only be used with NFS transport protocol. what if i am using FTP ?
alos, by date option means- files are processed according to their time stamp in the file system, starting with the oldest file.
However in my case i only want to read the latest file and ignore the older files.
    Thanks

  • Archiving faulty source files in file sender adapter

    Hi All,
I have configured file to file scenario in which files are read from FTP server & moved to archive directory after processing & new file is created in target directory.
Scenario is working fine with above mentioned case but I want to move faulty source files to different directory (not to archive directory). There is one option available to move it to different directory. But instead of moving faulty files to faulty directory, files are getting moved to archive directory  & I am getting  Mapping Exception error in SXMB_MONI (which is correct).
Does any body know how to move faulty files to fautly directory ..???
    I am using PI 7.0

    hi,
xi does not validate your message
(so it does not know if it's good or faulty)
so you can send anything, even jpg files...
only when you use MESSAGE MAPPING
will the error occure - indicating that
    your message had wrong structure
if you want to validate youself you can
do it inside an adapter module and put it into another folder
this will requiure a little bit of programming but
you will have the files validate as you want

  • Pick up a specific file with File Sender Adapter.

    Hi guys,
I would like to know how I can pick a specific file in a file pool (folder)? I would like to choose this file by name, like FileA or FileB, etc.
I’m asking this because I have an asynchronous file scenario (BPM) with a receiver adapter that put the File with a specific name (variable substitution) in a folder.
And I would like to do something like this:
In another asynchronous scenario (BPM), a File sender adapter picks up this specific file (using the name). The correlation is made trough an IDOC that XI receives before pick up the file, this IDOC has payload field with the name of file to be picked.
Is it possible receives the IDOC, read the field with the name of the file to be picked and choose this specific file? In a Sender File Adapter how I can do something like variable substitution like receiver adapter does.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo.

    Hi,
<i>Is it possible receives the IDOC, read the field with the name of the file to be picked and choose this specific file? In a Sender File Adapter how I can do something like variable substitution like receiver adapter does.</i>
No this is not possible. The only dynamic thing you can do is use wild card characters like *.
So, maybe you can pick a file like . or AA. and so on...

  • File adapter (sender) module throws exception, but adapter proceeds again

    Hello dear reader,
I wrote a module that converts a flat file into XI-XML and tested it within the file adapter. It works fine so far. But if I force the module to throw an exception to handle an erroneous flat file, the file adapter tries to proceed the erroneous file again and again. Not very nice, isn´t it?
Has anybody an idea, how to configure the file adapter to stop the processing of an erroneous file?
    Thank you in advance

It seems to me that the Adapter gets the error of the module, but it is not handled as an error like shown in the blog <a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2005/11/29/xi-how-to-re-process-failed-xi-messages-automatically:///people/sap.user72/blog/2005/11/29/xi-how-to-re-process-failed-xi-messages-automatically.
The adapter tries to proceed the same file again and again, till I delete it from the source directory.
    Any more idea?

    Hi Experts
synchronous file adapter sender side configuration in sap pi
can you explain any one tell me step by step procedure?

    Hi,
You can use RequestResponseBean in the sender file adapter module .

Instead of IDOC_AAE adapter you can use FILE adapter.

  • Reading huge flat file through SOAP adapter

    Hi Everybody,
In one of our interface we need to read big flat file using soap adapter at sender side into xi and we are using java map to convert into xml. but before that i need to split this flat file into multiple files  in the first message mapping. and in the second map we have to write a java map to do the flat file conversion to XMLBut i got struck up in reading this big flat file into XI as i need to declare some datatype to read this entire file. Can anybody tell me how i can do this. is it a possible to do first of all with SOAP adapter .
    Thanks
    raj

    hi vijay,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Due to some reasons i am not allowed to use file adapter . i can use only JMS adapter or SOAP adapter. we tried few scenarios with JMS content conversion but what ever scenario i am asking here is complex at multilevel i can't even use JMS in this case. so we are thinking to read whole file using SOAP adapter and then we are planning to split the file into multiple files, as file can be huge size ,using java mapping and in next level we want to use another mapping to do content conversion. SO I have to do experiements whether this is a feasible solution or not. because when u declare at sender side
    <ffdata_MT>
    <Recordset>
        <ROW>    String type
when u declare like this and when u sent the flat file using SOAP adapter at sender side we are getting whole file which we sent at part of "ROW" as string. but inside java mapping i need to see whenther i can split this in XI ,so that i can use these split files in next mapping for content conversion. Hope i am clear now. I want to know whether it is a feasible solution or not.
I really appreciate if sombody give some idea on this
    Thanks

  • How to transfer input file into XI through sender file adapter

    Hi
I am quite new to XI. Want to know how I can transfer a file into XI through sender file adapter. I dont have any input file, so I have to create a sample input file and I want to transfer that into XI. Can you please advise me of the steps involved in that. I have finished work in design and directory, now I want to push file the sample file into XI. The receiver adapter is an IDoc adapter. And also a very trivial question. How I can place my sample file into my source directory. Thanks

    Hi Rajiv,
If your transport protocol is NFS then you need to put the file in the XI server. Because it becomes the Network File System. For that you can just type the ip address of the XI server in the "run" command or in the browser with "
" then in any of the Folders you can paste your file. But ensure that this is the path you give in your Sender File Adapter.
If your transport protocol is FTP then you need to see that ftp is running in your system. for that go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Components. In that check the IIS server and go to details and see that ftp is also checked. Now ftp is running in your system.
Now open your C:> drive >InetPub>ftproot . and create a folder here and paste your file. In the configuration of your File sender adapter just mention the name of the folder.
For your information, you can create a file with xml tags and namespace and message type manually (or) you can directly get it from the test tab of message mapping and generate source code.

  • Read an xml file through file adapter?

How do i read an xml file through file adapter?

    Hi,
      This is pretty straight forward.
Just configure the sender file adapter without any file content conversions.
    Read this for more information:

  • Read from a config file in File Adapter in SOA Suite 11g

I want to read from a config file in order to determine whether to archive or delete the file after processing using file adapter in SOA Suite 11g. How do i do that.

only part i replied on was the part of how to read a file
but i think in your case you could do the next
use the sync file adapter to read in the file during your process
based on this content you set a variable "myOutputDirectory"
then create a file adapter (write) which will store the file on file system
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_file.htm#CIACICFD
4.3.2.2.5 Specifying a Dynamic Outbound File Name

  • Sender File(FTP protocol) Adapter not able to pick multiple files(eg *.xml)

    Dear Experts,
I have SAP PI 7.0 installed on HP-UX. I installed Guild FTP on my Windows Vista machine.Configured File to File scenario. Sender File adapter(FTP Transport Protocol)is able to process the 'input.xml' file placed in FTP INBOX folder.
I want to process all/multiple XML files. For this I have changed File Access Parameters in Sender Communication channel as:
    Source Directory -   /INBOX
    File Name          -   *.xml
Immediately Sender Communication status went into red with error log messages :
Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server "172.XX.XX.XX:21": java.lang.NullPointerException
Please let me know what is the issue. Thanks in Advance.

    Hi
    It should work with *.xml
Check with the connectivity as well.
If this is still unable to process files then check with the FTP server compatibility.
J2EE File adapter is based on RFC 959 and if GUILD FTP is non compatible to RFC format then exclusion mask may not work.
    Thanks

  • How to send XML file into XI using sender HTTP adapter

I am using HTTP sender adapter to post the XML file into XI. I tried to form the URL by using the following String query , but I am unable to execute file.
    String urlString = "http://<servername:portno>/sap/xi/adapter_plain?namespace=<namespace>&interface=<interface name>&service=<service name>&party=&agency=&scheme=&QOS=BE&sap-user=xiappluser&sap-password=satyam&sap-client=100&sap-language=EN";
How can I execute xml file by using HTTP sender adapter.
Any one with better suggestions, about this idea?
    Thanks in advance for all.
    Ram Raj

    Hi
Just use the following parameter to send xml file using HTTP adapter.
    "http://xiserver:8000/sap/xi/adapter_plain?namespace="senderNamespace"&interface=senderinterface&service=sender service";
    "&party=sender party"&agency=&scheme=&QOS=BE&sap-user=userid &sap-password=password&sap-client=100&sap-language=D";
with the help of this you are able to point out which interface you would like to use.
And in payload pass the xml.
    and thats it
    carry on

  • Sending multiple files using file adapter

The scenario I am implementing requires multiple files of different names to be picked up by my adapter. I dont want to create different file adapters for each file. I tried using the "Additonal Files" option in the sender file adapter in my configuration, but am not able to do the same. Any idea as to how the configuration for multiple files for same adapter isto be done?

    Hi bhavesh
Fundamental of adapter configuration is you have to give valid xml structure to XI, so you will define your configuration according to your requirement.
for .xml you have file as a message protocol while for .csv you have file content conversion as a message protocol.
So you have to define adpater configuration for sender side for one type of structure.
So you need a different communication channel for different extentions.
for diffrent strcutures, having same extention, you can execute this.
Please make me clear that what is your scenario?
why you need to pick all files under a directory with a same communication channel?
