Reading variable value via exit

Hi folks,
    I have a problem while reading a variable value for a lead colum.my layout as follows,
header : Cost center
Lead Coloum : Functional location
Lead Coloum : Equipment
Data Coloum : Budget proposal.
Here, I have written a exit for both lead coloum. Actually i want Functional location based on Costcenter and <b>Equipment based on Cost center and Functional location.</b>
But Equipment variable is getting read before selecting the Functional location, So I am not getting the Equipment variable value based on Functional location.
Note : I am running layout in the  Web.
Please suggest.
Thanks and Regards,
Meiy

Dear Meiy,
Try using characteristic relationship. Use two steps. In the first step, use exit to select the Func location. In the second step, use exit to select the Equipment.

    How to set variables values via VBA in workbook. SAP Netweaver 2004s.

    Pass variable values with VBA and BI 7.0 funtions to Query
    At first a remark u2013 Iu2019ve read a lot of threads saying that passing values to a query can be done by using VBA code only. Iu2019ve tested it but Iu2019m not sufficient with the new BEX 7.0 API and therefore I use a mixture of BEX 7.0 funtionality and VBA. I create a BEX 7.0 design item button passing the values to a query u2013 I hide this button somewhere on the sheet or on a hidden sheet and I then raise the event to click the button from VBA code. Works fine and the maintenance is easier if something changes in the API in the future again.
    How to start:
    Switch to design mode in BEX Analyzer:
    Implement a BEX 7.0 design item u201Cbuttonu201D
    Click on the button to implement the properties
    Make the input for the commands
    data_provider = dataprovider_1
    cmd = process_variables
    subcmd = var_submit
    No comes the part with the variables u2013 Letu2019s assume a query has 4 variables but you only want to change 1 with the button u2013 an organizational unit for instance.
    Make a range somewhere in the excel with the following structure:
    Name    Index   Value
    VAR_NAME_1      1       Variablename
    VAR_VALUE_EXT_1 1       variablevalue
    Value should contain the name of your variable of course and u201Cvalueu201D the value of your variable
    Set a name for this range with EXCEL functionality but without the header:
    Back to the properties of the button: Insert the name of the range with the variables in the field Command Range:
    If you have more variables to process you can of course enhance your Filterrange!
    In the left upper Corner you have a name for your button:
    Now you can raise the button-click in vba like this:
    Application.Run "'" & ThisWorkbook.Name & "'!Sheet2.BUTTON_35_Click"

  • Transfer variable values via ABAP betweenn planning areas

    Hello,
    I'm using an ABAP-coding (BPS How-To 'variables type user-exit) for transferring variable values between planning areas. It works fine for single-, multi- and interval-selection, but not for single hierarchie nodes.
    I don't want to transfer the values beneath the nodes but the node itself. Has anyone experience with that or changed the ABAP-Coding.
    Note, I'm using a variable type hierarchie as destination and get always a dump, when the ABAP is executed.

  • Read variable value knowing only name

    Is there a way to read a variable value from only knowing the label name? I have Labview 11 and am reading a text file with a list of variable labels and trying to read the value without having to create a case structure of hundreds of variables.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    My first answer was going to be "No", but then I started to think about it.  I'm assuming that the Variables are controls or indicators that are part of the VI or Project of interest.  You could do the following (but it could get messy) --
    Use the AllVIs property of the current Application to get an array of all VI names in memory.
    For each VI name, get a VI Reference, use that to get a Front Panel Reference (property), use that to get Controls[] (property).
    For each Control, get its Label (property).  At this point, I think I'd make two arrays, one of the Control References, the other of the Labels.
    Once your arrays are built, you can use the Array functions to find the index of the variable you want in the Labels array, and use that index to pull the Value out using the appropriate indexed Control Reference.  Note that this doesn't tell you the "Type" of the variable -- this will be left as an Exercise to the Reader.
    Let me know if this works, and is worth the effort.

  • PLSQL: Reading variable value from keybord

    In default cursor it is possible to use:
    ACCEPT variable PROMPT "Enter value: ";
    I got a problem while I try to have the message depend on a constant eg. language:
    DECLARE
    v_DATA VARCHAR2(10);
    v_TEXT VARCHAR2(10);
    c_language CONSTANT VARCHAR2(2) := 'PL';
    BEGIN
    CASE c_language
    WHEN ('PL') THEN v_TEXT := "PODAJ DATE";
    ELSE v_TEXT := "ENTER DATE";
    END CASE;
    ACCEPT v_DATA Prompt v_TEXT;
    END;
    Can anybody help me how to properly enter values within PLSQL begin-end statement.
    I suppose it is quite simple but still... :-)

    THX a lot
    And there is another thing.
    In your example the question is asked always in English and is always the standard one "Enter value for ..."
    I need to support 4 language versions and have to ask question in different languages depending on a value of c_language variable, without the "Enter value for ..." :-)
    English user would see (c_language='EN' ):
    Enter the receipt date: {here cursor waiting for entering date}
    Polish user would see (c_language='PL' ):
    Podaj date przyjecia: {here cursor waiting for entering date}
    So now it looks as follows:
    set serveroutput on
    set verify off
    DECLARE
    v_DATA VARCHAR2(10);
    v_QUESTION VARCHAR2(30);
    c_language CONSTANT VARCHAR2(2) := 'EN';
    BEGIN
    CASE c_language
    WHEN ('PL') THEN v_QUESTION := 'PODAJ DATE';
         ELSE v_QUESTION := 'ENTER PO DATE';
    END CASE;
    dbms_output.put_line(v_QUESTION);
    v_DATA := '&v_ENTERED';
    dbms_output.put_line('Entered value:'||v_DATA);
    END;
    Result:
    Enter value for v_entered: 28-08-05
    ENTER PO DATE
    Entered value:28-08-05
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

  • Set a value for a variable of type exit

    Hello,
    I am filling some variables with multiple values in user exit.
    Now, i would like to place some of these characteritics in Header area. It's of course impossible because there is multiple values but ...
    I will put dropdown box in the web application for these chars. The problem is that by default, any value is assigned to the dropdwom ( any variable value is set).
    Do you know how i can set a value for theses variable after filling all values by the user exit. SO that only one value is selected for the header and all others values available in the dropdown ?
    Regards,
    Jarod

    Hi,
    Off late, this seems to be a usual requirement.
    Just create a Z program to call the FM API_SEMBPS_VARIABLE_SET and then call the FM API_SEMBPS_POST.
    you should be preparing the content/set value to pass to the FMs. check the whereused list to see how this FMs can be used/called.
    finally, run this program for your variable, after the loading/filling the exit variable. Please note that to set 'exit' variables, the sourcing variable's content need to be read/set first before setting the exit varible.
    HTH,
    Regards,

  • Using variable values form parametrized URL in Customer Exit in i_step = 1

    Hello BW experts,
    I call a parametrized URL to a Web Template that has a Query with the variable VAR1:
    http://XXX?...&CMD=LDOC&template_id=TEMP1&VAR_NAME_1=VAR1&VAR_VALUE_EXT_1=2006
    Then I try to access the value of VAR1 in i_step = 1 in the Customer Exit for BEx variables in order to determine the value for a customer exit variable VAR2:
    WHEN 'VAR2'.
        IF i_step = 1.
          READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO var_range
            WITH KEY vnam = 'VAR1'.
          fl_var_range-sign = 'I'.
          fl_var_range-opt = 'EQ'.
          fl_var_range-low = *some operation with var_range
          APPEND fl_var_range TO e_t_range.
        ENDIF.
    The problem is that VAR1 contains either the default values (if the variable is set to have default variables) or is empty (if there are no default variables defined). It does not retrieve the value in the URL in the Customer Exit, but displays it correctly in the variable screen.
    Is there any way I can acces the URL parameter in the Customer Exit?
    Thanks for any answers in advance.
    Michael

    Gili,
    thanks for your answer. The problem was, though, that the first value determines the behavior of the variable screen by setting the value of a customer exit variable.
    My goal was to have two variable screens. In the first a date is chosen and in the second a node of a time-dependant hierarchy is chosen. If one enters the date in the same screen as the hierarchy, the valid hierarchy for the date is not displayed.
    I solved the problem now in following way:
    <b>1. Saving the value in SAP Memory as a parameter.</b> The parameter has to be defined in SE80. A Dummy Web Template with a query on the same Infoprovider with just the two InfoObjects (Year/Month) displays a variable screen for Month/Year. In addition there is a Dummy Customer Exit variable that is needed in order to pass the variable values (month/year) into SAP Memory. Using JavaScript in the Dummy WebTemplate the second Web Template with the actual query is called without displaying anything else than the variable screen.
    WHEN 'DUMMY_CUSTOMEREXIT_VAR'.
        data: w_date like sy-datum
        IF i_step = 2.
          READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO var_range
            WITH KEY vnam = 'VAR1'.
        do your peration
        i.e.  w_date(4)+2 = var_range-low.
                 w_date(6)+2 = var_range-high.
          SET PARAMETER ID 'ZBW_PARA1' FIELD w_date.
        ENDIF.
    <b>2. Retrieving the value from SAP Memory</b> Before displaying the variable screen, the chosen date is retrieved from SAP Memory and used to set the date for a customer exit variable for the hierarchy validity date.
    WHEN 'VAR2'.
        IF i_step = 1.
          GET PARAMETER ID 'ZBW_PARA1' FIELD w_date.
        do some operation with
          APPEND fl_var_range TO e_t_range.
        ENDIF.
    It is quite a comlex construct, but it works....

  • Read the value of user input variable during calculation of virtual char

    Hello
    Virtual characteristics is populated in custom BAPI based on values specified by user in the variable screen.
    How to read the value of user input variable outside the user exit for custom variables?
    The one way is to create faked user exit variable, read the value of user input variable in corresponding FM and insert it into table. Then value of this variable will be derived from the table.
    Thanks

  • Can we Pass two variable values in to one Varaible which is Cust Exit?

    Hi all,
    Can we pass two Variable values to a Variable which is Custexit?(For Example posting Period and the fiscalyear in to the FicalPeriod )
    Regards

    Hello,
    For that example you had to "convert" both post period and fiscalyear into fiscalperiod, and yes it is possible, but not throwing up the two values, you had to do it yourself in the user exit code.

    Hi
    We are populating the variable with the exit function module and I am using this variable as an user restriction of values. When my user opens the input box to select the values of this variable, there not able to see the attributes that are there for that characteristic as well as description of the master data values. The only thing that they are seeing is the key values that are populated by the exit. Can you please let me know what is the reason for this behavior and we are using web excel interface and using BW 3.5 version
    Thanks,

    Hi Guys
    I have solved this. I had to select the Planning level in the variable component to populate the text in the variable of type exit.
    Thanks,
