Reapplying CSS to existing pages

Okay, I should have known better, but now it's too
late...
I inherited some online help files from a predecessor whose
housekeeping wasn't to my liking. So I decided to rearrange some of
the file folders he left me so their hierarchy would be consistent
across all documentation books within the company. Unfortunately, I
did this outside of Dreamweaver and as a result, I think I broke
the link between the style sheet and the the text pages.
In other words, if I look at some of the pages, their styles
are gone (wrong fonts, wrong size, wrong positioning on the page,
etc.) and if I try to re-apply the old styles, I don't see them in
the style field so can't replace them.
So how do I get the pages hooked up with their cascading
style sheet again?

I don't know your folder structure but basically, in each
folder, select a page and re-link the style sheet through the
normal way (attach style sheet in the styles tab) If you only have
a few pages, do this manually. If you have a lot of pages, use find
and replace, change the broken links to the correct link and select
folder and that should do it.
Then repeat for each folder where you have broken links. If
all or most of your folders are the same relative link to the CSS,
you can select multiple folders and then use selected files in find
and replace.
Unfortunately, there is often a lot of manual work when an
old site is revamped. Seems like nobody ever likes the old guy's
structures...

DW Template created from existing page looks fine in IE7,FF,Opera,Netscape but Not IE6

I am working on a website that I want to make certain pages
into templates for re-use.. I have an existing page designed
outside of DW that looked great in IE6,IE7,FF,Opera, and Netscape
but the moment I saved it as a Template and then created a new page
and look at the new page in IE6 the css is off... Not so off that
the CSS is not being used but just not right, but If I look at it
in anyother browser it's fine... Is DW "fixing" my code for me?
I've looked through the settings and all the Code Rewriting options
are unselected or is this a bug and can I get around it...

Adding new elements to a Master Page and sharing them to existing pages

I need to include new navigation elements on the master page
and I want it to show up on pages I've already created. I've added
the new elements on a layer of their own which is part of the
master page, but the Share Layer to Pages... option is dimmed.

OK there are two related as I see it.
Each of your pages consists of a solid, opaque bitmap for a
main image.
Master Pages, by default, are at the bottom of the layer
stack. Your
tabs ARE present, you just can't see them because they are
covered up by
the bitmap.
Assuming you don't have those page images as multi-object
elements,
where you can edit the blue backgrounds, there are still two
things you
can do, both of which are pretty easy.
Go into each page and temporarily reduce the opacity of Layer
1.
Use the marquee tool to draw a selection around the area of
the tabs.
Delete the selection.
Return the lay back to full opacity.
OR
Try dragging the Master page to the top of the layer stack in
each page.
Hide or delete the Master page background.
This option is a little trickier, but I was able to do it.
Wait for the
black bar to appear before you release the mouse. You may
need to try
this a few times before it works.

How do i get rid of CSS on one page only?

I have a website that is being hosted for me. I want to take
a web page and make an ebay auction template out of it. I can't get
rid of the CSS and it's driving me crazy. Everytime I want to
change the text, it reverts back and posts the CSS code in the
page. I don't want that.
The site uses CSS, and I have not done a website in years and
CSS is still a little french to me & kind of a pain in the ***
since I have not much idea of how it works.
How do I get rid of the CSS for a page within a website that
uses CSS, or am I SOL? Does eBay allow CSS?

Do you change it via the property inspector and you end up
with the css
snippet above in the document? How do you change the format,
what format do
you use?
From the portion of the code you've sent I can't see anything
apart from the
style for the font, so that itself won't give you 'red text'.
I can only
assume then, that there is something happening when you
upload the page to
the ebay server or whatever.
Sorry I can't help any further, but I'm stumped without any
further links or
the code for the whole page.

How do I change the paper size on an existing Pages document?

So are your text box set to floating? You can tell that by looking in the Inspector>Wrap Tab when you select the text box.
If I had to guess I would say that the text boxes are floating and when you change the size of paper the text that you have in the main body area is shrinking so that it does require as many pages and you are losing the text boxes at the end. Is that correct? If so, they are still there, you just have to add page breaks to get to the pages that you lost and you should see them again.

Apply Template to existing page problems

I've coinstructed a Dreamweaver Template (dwt) that I want to apply to existing pages in a web site. I have onle two editable regions defined right now, "doctitle" and "propertyinfo". When I try to attach my template to a page, [modify, templates, apply templates to page, select the dwt file, and click select] I get a window named "Inconsistent Regiopn names" which indicates two other editable regions, "document body" and document head". I've tried various combinations to the "move content to a new region" and get bad results in that other areas of my page are replaced.
Is there somethign I have to place in the page to resolve this? I'm very confused by this issue.

You're right on again.
Asking for the "body" and "head" regions threw me off and my tenacity kicked in. I played with that for hours until I came to the conclusion that producing an "empty" page from a DWT, then constructing each page from those was definitely the way to go.

When I edit an existing page in SharePoint Designer to add JavaScript and save, I get a dialog with message
"Content in the embedded form field may be changed by the server to remove unsafe content. Do you want to reload you page to see the results of the save?"
When I click OK it reverts my change. How do I add custom JavaScript to the page?

Try not to push your changes through SharePoint Designer (SPD).
We had severe problems with SPD saving page layouts in SharePoint, so you may use SPD to edit the page but not save it.
To save it, check it out from browser, upload and overwrite then publish it.

Changing MasterPage for existing pages

Hi,
I like to change to MasterPage for existing pages in an document, I found the IMasterSpreadUtils and OverrideMasterPageItem, but it didn't work here. Unfortunately I found no example in the SDK, does somebody have an example for me?
Or is there another (and better) way to change the MasterPage?

Edit existing page with new template

I am using Contribute 4, and am trying to edit an existing
page. it is my index page, and I want to start fresh with one of
the templates provided. However, I can't find a way to completely
delete all of the previous info, and THEN open a new template with
that current page. I have no problems editing the page as it is,
but I want to start new with this template. Any suggestions?

Yes I have got it in the root folder which is called Templates
ROOT FOLDER OF SITE

Hi,
You can do this with Adobe Acrobat.
If you are using Export PDF it is a long procedure.
You need to convert your PDF in word or powerpoint.
Then you can edit the document & again can create PDF.

I have created a new web inquiiry using these two. But unable to modify the existing pages. Unable to decipher the existing flow of pages - regions and how the attributes are laid out.
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Using Native Inspector Very Frequently Breaks CSS on Various Pages Completely Arbitrarily.

Hello, I'm running Firefox 19 on Mac OSX 10.8.2 and I do web development sometimes.
Lately, I became a big fan of the native inspector inside Firefox and I began using it often. At least 100 times a day.
I found that using it this often breaks CSS on random pages, often pages I've never visited before. Around one in every 1000 pages is broken and the same sites are broken over and over.
For example, my hosting's cPanel refuses to fetch the background images for the icons. There are pages where CSS stylesheets don't load at all (even though I can access them via view->source) and sometimes, the inspector itself just breaks and travels with me from tab to tab, site to site (I can't close it, have to close and re-open the window).
I know I could create a new Firefox profile and manually copy over select content like my bookmarks, browsing history, etc. But before I resort to that is there some kind of a proprietary cache that is kept by the inspector that I could reset?
(I've cleared my regular cache and cookies with no results).

Did you check if installed extensions aren't causing this problem?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Pages 5.0 won't open existing Pages '09 docs

Upgraded to Mavericks and updated Pages. However, new Pages 5.0 won't let me open older existing Pages documents saved on my Mac. However, it will open Pages documents saved in iCloud. When attempting to open Pages docs on my Mac, I get the following error message:
How do I get around this? Do I have to dig around and find my old iWorks disk and reinstall Pages '09?

Sorry to be "that guy", but i've done that without an issue, I can now add pages by copying previous ones, but now Pages 4.3 groups a new page which is blank, with page 13. It also adds a the copy of the last page below the two that get grouped together. So basically, I end up with 2 copys of page 13, and the original.
