Rear Camera taking grainy low-quality pictures -- help?!

I just bought an Iphone 4 3 days ago. I've started using the camera but all of the pictures seem to come out really low quality, grainy and blurry and when I upload them to flickr they have 765 x 1024 resolution. I've seen lots of pictures other people have taken with iphone 4s and they look really sharp and crisp and have much higher resolutions (2592 x 1936). Is there a way to adjust settings? Do I have a defective camera? Here is a link to the pictures I have taken with the rear camera: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scmarvelli/

Have you taken the protective film off the back?
There is no adjustment regarding the size of the photo. How are you getting them off the phone? If you drag them off using Camera/Scanner Wizard they will be full res

Rear camera was working great for months. Suddenly all pictures are blurry/fuzzy. No damage at all to iphone. Front camera is ok. Is there a software fix? I hope so because I'm thousands of miles from home

  • Low Quality Pictures

    Hi,
I have spent several hours working on an iPhoto book.  Several of my pictures are pictures I scanned into iPhoto from a traditional photo.  Anytime I use these pictures, a yellow trianlge with an exclamation mark comes up.  It says the quality of these pictures is low.  Will it look okay if i print the book anyway?
Removing all the pictures isn't really an option since they make up more than 50% of my book.
Thanks for any and all responses!!!!

Looking OK is a personal opinion - no one other that you can make that judgement
What we can say is that if you have the low quality warning the photo quality will not be as good as if you had a higher resolution photo that did not get the warning
In cases where I wanted a photo and had no ability to get a higher resolution photo I have used them
Your best bet would be  scan the photos again using a high enough resolution to have at least 200 DPI for the final print (the warning comes on at either 150 dpi or 180 dpi - there is some confusion about that)

  • Iphoto low quality pictures

I'm making a photobook and it says a few of my pictures may print at a lower quality. I'm just wondering what lower quality means: its a little pixelated or completely blurry. Any suggestions?

You can create a PDF of the book according to this Apple Document and check it to see if the image will meed your expectations: iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture
Not actually a good test as a 72 DPI image looks perfect on a display screen but prints terrible - best to go by actual printed DPI rather than screen display since a screen is a totally different anminal and both colors and resolution work completely differently for screens
Apple's suggested minimum pixel dimensions for disserent size prints are in the link I provided
doing the calulation I recommended is the best idea
the basic rule is that photo smust be 150 DPI or more for good prints - so you divide the pixels in each dimension by the inches being printed in that difection - if the answer is 149 then things should be fine - it is is 25 then things will be very bad

  • [4S] Replaced what I thought was faulty rear camera, still getting black screen! Help please?

I will try to describe the problem as well as I can; I've seen quite a few posts about this problem already but I am yet to find anything that really helps.
Basically, I thought my rear camera had a hardware problem as when I opened the camera app all I would get was a black screen. Despite this I was still able to use the front camera without a problem. Thinking it was the camera I ordered a replacement which I have since installed and I am still getting the same issues as with the old camera.
I'm comepletely stumped, I've looked at many forum posts etc. about this and have yet to see anything that is helpful.
    Is this a software issue?

Nobody here would know. You took it unto yourself to repair a non-user servicable item instead of going to an Apple store or authorized servce provider when you had the original problem.  Your best bet now is to go and do a Google search or take it to a third party (unauthorized) service shop. Apple will never touch that phone.

  • I want to run Photoshop and Light room on my mac, but I'm worried that osx only running eight bits of color will lead to lower quality picture results. Should I stick with Windows?

The headline sums it up. Will running the programs in Windows result in better pictures? Do professionals do touch ups on Mac? Thanks for your responses! I'm new to this.

"Deep colour" - meaning a 10bit colour driven display - can only be achieved in hardware with a screen and a graphics card that support both. The average Windows system does not support this - few do. Only Windows workstation level graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia support this option. These are generally more expensive than consumer cards of the same caliber.
Many screens with so-called 10bit support often fake the extra colours by introducing dithering - true 10bit displays are only manufactured by companies such as Eizo - and they are expensive: prices range to around almost $2000 for a 24" 10-bit screen from Eizo. You also need a special HDMI cable, I believe.
Also, the software must support a 10bit workflow. These are far and between. I believe even Lightroom still does not support this - Photoshop does from version CS5 and up.
If you have a hard time understanding all this: no worries. The reason why you are confused and worried is because you lack the know-how, and, subsequently, reading all that "10bit colour is unsupported on Macs" made you anxious.
In reality, while Windows does support this (and Macs do not), almost no-one uses it currently (beyond high-end film/FX work, cad/cam, and a couple of high end Photographers). Any generic consumer and even most workstation level Windows machines will not support it unless all the hardware and software is properly set up. And it is very costly. Colour management becomes even more intricate with 10bit displays.
In a nutshell: much ado about nothing. A Mac is great for design work, as are well equipped Windows machines. By far the majority of professionals in Photography, Graphic design, Video and Effects editing, and so on, currently work without 10bit hardware, and produce outstanding work.
Unless you are spending at least around $2000 on screen hardware, and limit yourself to a very small group of applications that also cost an arm and a leg, you are not going to be able to use 10bit on Windows either.
You can forget what you have read - it is of no consequence to you. (or if you are interested, learn the technical backgrounds.)  Perhaps in 10~20 years the situation will have changed.

  • No audio when i record video on my iphone 6plus using the front... the rear camera is doing fine.. pls help

no audio when i record video on iphone 6plus using the front... but the rear or back camera is workin fine... pls help

    Hi ria05,
If you are having issues with your iPhone not recording sound when using your front camera, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • 17 Inch G4 iMac displaying low quality grainy graphics on web pages

I'm having a very sudden problem with my iMac. Images on web pages are displaying very grainy and low quality. This is not an issue with images on my iPhoto or new images I upload from my digital camera. I have tried loading web pages on Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome and any web page I pull up is displaying fuzzy, grainy, low quality images. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I'm sorry no one has jumped on this in two days. I think you have us stumped. I've tried changing some video settings on several of our G4 Macs but that either affects all image apps or doesn't simulate the problem.
Can you post an image? If you host the image or upload it to a image storing/sharing site, you can insert it in a post by using the instructions in this user-contributed yip:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121950&tstart=0
Help me here--You say this problem persists in *Google Chrome*. My understanding is that Chrome has always required an Intel processor and OS 10.5 or later. 10.4.11 and a G4 iMac don't cut it. Is this a typo or is this problem associated with a Mac other than the G4 in your equipment line?

  • [ Helix ] Rear camera picture malformed, but video is fine. Software or hardware problem?

Hi, it's is my first post here, so  welcome everyone
I've just purchased Helix 3702-3LO (i7, 8GB, 128GB, Win8Pro 64bits upgraded to 8.1) and today found some problem. Pictures taken by rear camera are malformed. The picture looks like:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5MpmFU1Jqq8Ym5ucGt6WDhUQXM/edit?usp=sharing
But at the same time video taken by the camera is perfect. So how do you think, is it software or hardware problem?
I've already tried refresh drivers, update what was possible to update, but still no imrovement, I still want avoid sending the computer to the service. It looks like some part of the image (bottom) is paste in the middle. Looks like codecs problem???
But now I'm not sure if it is only software problem or may be some how hardware (video is recorded is fine).
    Thank you.

Thank you kroe, you were absolutely right!
I rolled back the driver and it's fixed now, I should think about this in first place! :-)
"Device manager" > "Imaging devices" > "AIT Webcam" > Right Mouse Button Menu > "Properties" > Tab "Driver" > "Roll back driver" > OK
and now I have, like you wrote, "Integrated Rear Camera" instead of "AIT Webcam"
And the photos are perfect now :-) Thx again.
    So.. problem SOLVED! Thx

  • Low Quality Video and Photo on iCloud

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 6, in doing so thought I would take advantage of the iCloud facility.  What a great idea until I replayed the video back, talk about grainy low quality same for the photos.
Is there a fix for this or am I the only one with the issue?  All items play back on the phone perfectly.  iCloud is useless unless I can get my pictures backed up and uploaded to the iCloud in their original format.
Can anyone help with regards to this issue.
    Thanks

    Hello Double24,
Lets start with taking a look at the articles below so you can get your photos to show up on your PC. Make sure that you have installed iCloud for Windows and make sure the Photos option is enabled which it should be by default. If you are not seeing all of your photos, keep in mind that it will not sync photos past 30 days and has a maximum of 1,000 photos that can be stored on your My Photo Stream. You may just need to import the photos to your computer if you have not been able to get all of them for that reason that I just stated. Let me know if this works for you.

  • Showing lower quality photos in slideshows

I'm trying to create a slideshow that has a mix of high-quality pictures that look good full-screen and others where the quality is much less and shouldn't be viewed at full screen. I cannot figure out a way to show the low-quality pictures in a slideshow at less than full screen. Is there a way to restrict their size to the optimal viewing size rather than spreading them to full screen where they become grainy and blurry?

    writeguyfla:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is no way to create a slideshow with a smaller image on the screen than the options in the Setting pane.
There's a 3rd party slideshow application, PhotoPresenter, that has some wonderful themes that do not require the photo to fill the screen that might work for you. You can try it in demo mode before deciding to purchase. This is one of their fancier themes.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IPod 5th generation rear camera not responding

If i click on the camera app and it's already switched to the rear camera, it shows a black screen. sometimes it even takes away the flash option. If I use the front facing camera, it lets me take pictures, but if I try switching to the rear camera, it sorta blurs the picture of the front camera and freezes. The microphone is working fine, because I've talked to Siri and used the microphone to type for me. I've only had this iPod since last Christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions?
