Recent document in template menu

I am having an issue with being able to choose a recent keynote document out of the templete box that firsts opens with the application. This issue has started since 10.6

I'm having the same (or similar problem). The recent files menu in the template box is empty as is the recent files list in the File menu.
I tried deleting the .plist file (com.apple.iWork09.plist) but that didn't help.
Suggestions for solutions would be appreciated!

If you are Safari - look at your preferences -
When that dialogue box appears on your screen it has several headres
General, Appearance, Bookmarks, Tabs, RSS, Autofill, Security and Advanced
Go to AutoFill - and click off other forms -

Repair for missing "open recent" documents option in my File Menu?

Can someone suggest how to repair a missing "open recent" documents option in my File Menu? I'm using CS5 Indesign.
There's no option for it greyed out or otherwise. It originally had dissappeared while using CS4. I gave up on it. Installed CS5 and hoped it would come back: nada. I did the Ctrl-Alt-Shift thing and deleted prefs file: Still no recent docs option. VERY IRRITATING.
There's got to be a way. But I'm not informed enough. Help, please?

This is easily fixed...took me a while to find out how.
Go into Preferences, click on File Handling...you will then see a page with 'Saving InDesign Files' in the middle section (See attached screen grab). You'll see a box next to 'Number of Recent Items to Display' which I'm assuming will be '0'...change this to any number up to 99. Click OK. Close InDesign. Reopen InDesign...Open a file, close the file...you will now see the 'Open Recent' link when you click on file.
Problem solved.

Workflow - document from template step not working properly

Hi All,
We are creating a document from the step "Document from a template" in our workflow .
This document is then given to the user as an attachment to a user decision step where he modifies that document.
These modifications to the document are stored in the workflow.
However if i want to give the same document to another user in another user decision, it gives only a read-only copy to him. Is this how a document from a template works or is there some bug in my coding or a possible workaround

Hi Amit,
Have you tried option from menu Document -> load other version , when user opens work item for document from template?
I think this should serve the purpose of making document editable for other users.

Missing recent documents in TextEdit/Preview - File

This issue happened after merging a new Tiger OS with an encrypted home directory (File Vault). I can see my recent docs and apps if I switch them on within the System Preferences. Other apps like BBEdit or Microsoft Excel for example are tracking my recent docs also correctly. But the menu recent documents in the applications TextEdit and Preview remain empty independet how many docs I open and save. I therefore tried another user with the same OS without File Vault and everything behaves like normal. If I make a new document within TextEdit and do save it I can see it in the menu File as recently opened documents. Does anybody have an idea? Please HELP!

The recent documents lists for TextEdit and Preview are contained within their respective preferences files. Try deleting these files and see if that solves the problem:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.plist
(Where the "~/" is your home directory.)

Create Dynamic Document Library Templates

I have the following scenario within our IT Org
1. PMO office maintains a "Standards" library, to which they publish all standard templates that need to be used for Project Management.
2. Each Project Manager would like to create a document library within their "project site" based on all the documents within "Standards" library.
My question is, would it be possible to create a document library template whose contents are dynamically pulled from another library?

Based on your description, my understanding is that each Project Manager
creates document library with the same template, but what they need is that their document libraries have different content type with others.
There isn’t an out of the box method to create document library templates dynamically.
For your issue, I suggest each Project Manager create one document content type with the document template which they need, and add the content type into their document libraries.

Create document from template without launching Adobe Bridge (InDesign CS4)

When I select "New Document from Template... while using InDesign CS4, Adobe Bridge launches instead of a search menu.
It's much harder for me to navigate through Bridge than it is with a standard New menu. How can I get InDesign NOT to launch Bridge when this happens?

Just use File > Open... and navigate to the template you want to use.

"Open recent..." menu always empty

Hi,
since i run Mac OS X Leopard the File > "Open recent..." menu is always empty although i have set the number of Recent items to 15 in System Preferences.
I thought this could be due to permission problems but Disk Utility claims that everything is alright.
I highly appreciate any ideas to solve this, because this is really annoying.

IIRC, you have to set that within each application, using this Terminal command:
*defaults write com.XXXX."name of app" NSRecentDocumentsLimit YYY*
where XXX = company, "name of app" = self explanatory, and YYY is the desired integer value. E.g., for TextEdit, I used:
*defaults write com.apple.textedit NSRecentDocumentsLimit 30*
Relaunching TextEdit and you'll see File->Open Recent->shows last 30 opened documents.

"Recent Documents"

There is a system folder somewhere on my Blackberry named "Recent Documnets". It has opened several times when I closed a document, but not every time. When it is open, its own menu has an option to clear Recent Documents. I seem to be unable to return to the folder Recent Documents when I want to. Using the Search function is not successful in finding the folder. How can I find the folder Recent Documents?

No recent documents

In all my iWork apps, the "Recent Documents" is always blank. Is there a setting somewhere that's keeping that from working? I do have it set in System Preferences which shows my ten most recent documents (from any app) under the Apple menu, but nothing shows up in the applications themselves.

Under Snow Leopard the Open Recents feature behaves flawlessly.
If it doesn't on your machine it's that something is wrong on it.
To clean the beast, it would be useful to run a maintenance tool.
Cocktail is now 10.6 aware but it's not free.
Onyx is free but at this time there is only a beta version which run under 10.6.
I don' feel free to tell you: use this version.
Maybe there is a free trial version of Cocktail.

Here is the solution that I received from the chat line.
When you update applications like Pages it usually keeps both versions on the computer. So what most likely happened is it didn’t put the new version on your dock. So to fix this, open a finder window. And go into applications which should be listed on the left. Scroll down and you will see Pages listed in here. And the icon should look different. You can drag that icon down onto your dock.Open that and you then can access your documents
