Recent move from US to UK...Should I update account?

I recently moved from the US to the UK.  I have a US iTunes account and US credit card.  If I change my account to UK, will all my purchased music still be there?  I know people have had trouble with apps transfering, but I don't have any apps.  My new iPad will be arriving tomorrow and I figured it would be easier to change my country on my account info (I have a UK credit card), but I've collected music on my iTunes for several years while I lived in the US and I'm completely freaked out about losing some of it.
Also, if I decide to just keep my US iTunes account, will the iPad recognize that I'm not in the US???

Apps are country specific (so you don't).
Download everything from the cloud before you switch. You will still be able to play your music and run your apps, but you'll have issues with updates.

    I just want to make sure I have your question correct, you rented a movie on a computer and you want to download it to another computer?
    I believe because its a rental you can either stream it to your Apple tv or watch it on the computer you purchased the rental on, I dont think you can download it to another computer but you may be able to watch it on the other computer by homesharing, If you click on the library on the other computer thats in the homesharing section on the left pane it may work to stream it to the other computer to watch but not download
    I could be wrong but I think because its a rental it has restrictions

    I recently moved from mobileme to icloud without difficulity. However, I've noticed after I read and delete emails, they return. I've check preferences and have verified the "store deleted messages on the server box" is unchecked as it should be.
    Is anyone else having this problem/do you know how to fix it?

    Well, unfortunately I don't have a single solution.
    However, my apple mail account seems to have "fixed itself". I had already deleted the icloud account in apple mail preferences and set it up again (twice), but that was not the fix because it continued to save all deleted emails in the inbox.
    Almost two days later I woke up one morning and started deleting emails thinking it wasn't going to work and to my supprise it did.
    All I can say is if this is the only problems us three are have for the moment we've gotten off pretty easy. Just give it a little while longer and hopefully it will fix itself.
    I appologize for not being much more help.

    I to would love to know if anyone has found a way to do this.... I purchased several bluray dads, and normally the software gives you the option to use the "ultraviolet" streaming and/or download a copy to iTunes, but these all seem to be Flixter or nothing. I contacted the folks at "UV," "Flixter" and Warner Bros as well, and they all told me "tough luck" on my request to get iTunes versions. Flixter even went so far as to tell me, "...we cannot provide digital copies in every media format for certain films for a variety of logistical reasons." which is total BS, and they know it.
    The problem I have is that SOME of these bluray DVDs offer the option of iTunes and other do not, but this is NOT specifically identified on the package -- you really don't have any way of knowing until you open the package and attempt the download. Some will offer you the choice, others will not, but the package, in my experience, never says, 'This will NOT work with iTunes."
    This really should be the foundation for a class-action lawsuit against the studios who do this BS "bait and switch" to try to force you to use a less then desirable format or poor quality 'streaming' service. I realize the studios want to make more $$ and that means screwing over Apple/iTunes and by default the consumer, by forcing a shoddy product they make more profit on.... No different than an electronics store pushing you to purchase 'brandX' because it has a higher profit margin for them... except that YOU HAVE THE CHOICE.
    Apple could make a killing by accepting their codes for discounts on the iTunes versions... say half-price... just a thought.
    But seriously, to all those out there, this really should be put into a class action suit..... I would be on-board.

    I was looking for "The curious case of Benjamin button" in the German store, but I only find it in the us store. My question now is: how can I download a film from the us iTunes Store to my German iTunes account? I currently life in Germany and I use itunes very often.
    Can I change my German iTunes Store to the us version? Or do I need to open an account set in English (US)?

    Thank you for your quick reply.  I'll give it a try.  Another workaround I figured out last night is to right click the video, click show file, and then double click the file. Quicktime the plays the video.

  • How about some recent observations from a user who completed an update to iOS 5.0.1 on their iPhone 4 on Nov. 10, 2011?

    1) Battery was fully charged after update, and just under 6 hours later with no owner interaction (sleeping), the battery level was down to 9%.
    2) Discovered on the Usage screen, that both usage and standby were exactly the same at just under 6 hours. (How was the phone in use when I was sleeping?)
    3) Both iCloud Backup, Location Services, Automatic Time/Date setting, and Bluetooth were all turned off, and WiFi was enabled, an Alarm was set, but no apps were open or running.
    I grabbed screenshots of the Usage and About screens if those would be helpful.
    Any idea on how to resolve this battery drain issue?
    Prior to the update, my battery was lasting almost 3 days on standby running iOS 5 with iCloud Backup, Locations Services, Automatic Time/Date setting, and Bluetooth turned off. Thank you for your support, time and attention.

    Yes, I would upgrade, you will just fine. After you upgrade, you will see some new things. not sure what you have now, but you'll be alright.

    I have a new IPad and am trying to download my first movie from Itunes.  It takes all my account info and then won't download.  I thibnk my wifi connection is OK--I get mail and have downloaded a few games.

    Where are you physically located?  Although I haven't heard of specific instances, if you read the store terms of use they do reserve the right to use technologies to monitor your physical presence in the store's country when making purchases.  Even if you have a functioning US account, you are also supposed to be actually in the USA when doing the downloads.

    you should starting with copying the iTunes folder from your old laptop to the new one.
    the iTunes folder is in your user profile Music folder.
    it should go to the same location on the new laptop.
    Provided that you have your media, music and movies in the default location, and you sign in to your apple ID and authorize your new computer (all in iTunes)
    you should have all intact.

    - Go here and see if you can redownload the movies. If you can then delete the movie and redownlod it.

  • HT5772 How do you delete a movie from a local computer without deleting it from the library?  This should be such a simple procedure, but it's not. And while we're at it, why is iTunes NOT one of the dropdown product choices?

    All Apple support says about deleting movies from a computer is that you "should" be able to re-download it if you live in the right area.  Well, I'm in the U.S.A. and just deleted one of the movie extra features exactly as described in the support directions.  According to Apple I should be able to re-download this from the cloud at any time, but now I no longer even see the title listed.  That's why I wanted to test their support statements with a Movie Extra instedad of a real movie.  This should be the simplest of tasks to manage, yet they make it extremely difficult.  Why?  I own the movies and I want them to stay in my iTunes library basically forever.  Makes sense, right?  But, I only have so much room on my laptop to store movies that I want to have with me on long trips, etc.  So if I only have the space to store 3 or 4 movies on the disk, shouldn't I have the ability to every once in a while delete one of those movies from my local computer ONLY, NOT my library, so that I can download a different movie?  Yet the first thing iTunes does when you hit the delete key is tell you that it will remove the movie forever from all devices and the library.  So why does support say you can download again any time from the cloud then?  The worse part is, the calamity doesnt stop there.  Wait until you see the message you actually get once you say that yes, you do want to delete the movie (but only because you assume that you really can download it again sometime).  Here is the exact 2 messages you get from Apple, in the same popup box.
    Do you want to move the selected movie to the Recycle Bin, or keep it in the iTunes Media Folder?
    Only files in the iTunes Media Folder will be moved to the Recycle Bin.
    [Cancel]  [Move to the Recycle Bin]  [Keep File]
    Is that the most confusing popup or what?  Who develops this kind of software?!?!?! 
    I have tried it both ways and the only difference is that the file shows up in the Recycle Bin or doesn't.  But in both cases the file name no longer shows in the movie list, so I don't know how to re-download it from the Cloud.  Better hey, if I clicked "Keep File", where is it?  I can't see it anywhere, so where is it kept and what can I actually do with it?
    I have to be honest, I love my iPhone and some of the neat features, but when it comes to iTunes, I have never seen a more difficult piece of software to use in my life... and I'm a software developer.  Your Support documentation is actually more confusing than the softwae itself, it's almost as if you don't want people to use the software, just simply buy stuff and listen/watch it, but nothing else.  Seriously, this is the most cumbersome, unfriendly piece of software I've ever seen.  What does it say about Apple iTunes when everyone has to google solutions for how to do something rather than using Apple support documentation.
    Seriously disappointed in Apple iTunes and it's never really gotten any better over time.  This is one of the primary reasons I have never moved all of my recording studios and office operations over to an Apple platform.  Hardware and phones are awesome, but your software is either grossly incompetent or intentionally designed to make it all but impossible to use.  Either way, it's worthless to me. We're talking about software that does nothing else but manage media that I already own on multiple devices.  That should be one of the simplest things in the world to do.  Sad... very sad.
    While we're at it.... why isn't iTunes listed on the product dropdown below?  Maybe it's not even considered a product, which would explain it's goofiness I guess.

    iTunes prefs > Store > Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases.
    This will show all your iTunes purchases in your library with a cloud icon down arrow. Click the icon to redownload or click on Play to stream without downloading.

    The extension is usually .mov, .m4v, or .mp4.   But you can't just change the extension.  The movies have to be encoded in a particular fomat.  Anything downloaded from iTunes or plays in Quicktime player will be fine.
