Recipients are not encoded correctly

Question

Hi!
When I set the recipients of a new e-mail with
message.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, "Stephan Windmüller <[email protected]>");the name is not encoded correctly. The same applies for setFrom, but not to setSubject. According to MimeUtility, manual encoding should not be necessary when using setRecipients.
However, when I am trying to encode the address with MimeUtility.encodeText it also looks garbled. What am I doing wrong?

Again, the address string you're working with is not a valid RFC822 address.
If some software is constructing it on the assumption that it's creating a valid
address string, that software is broken. You can't just put that address string
in an email header and expect it to work.You are right. But according to the JavaDoc of MimeUtility I assumed that the mail API will take care of that.I should update the javadocs to clarify that the address string is an RFC822 format address,
as passed to the InternetAddress constructor.
