IQ770 upgrade to Windows 7 64bit Ultimate Edition

Hello Everyone,
I know this is not supported - but I have always been disappointed w/ some of the flaws in the factory installation that came w/ this machine.  I experienced screen flickers and network issues w/ my Media Center Extenders which were connected to my IQ770 since I had this machine.
Finally this weekend I decided to wipe out the factory OS and install Win7 Ultimate 64bit - and all devices were recognized in Device Manager along w/ no more flickers or network issues!!!  Not to mention that I gain access to all 4GB of RAM, which I upgraded several months ago.  So - I'm pretty sure I will be sticking w/ this installation of Win7 64bit, regardless of what I find out here in the forums.
My question(s):
Anyone know of a version of the TouchSmart application that I can download and install on Win7 x64?  I have attempted to download a version for another TouchSmart PC but it will not install on this OS.
Anyone else done this - and have you found alternative drivers which work better, over the Windows drivers that came OOB or via Windows Updates?
Thx ahead of time!

Install this first so the system is stable

As for TouchSmart applications you would need to find 3rd party ones. This model only supports single touch.

  • My iPhone 4 will no longer back up in iTunes after my upgrade to Windows 7 64bit.

I used to have Windows XP 32bit and everything worked fine.
I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit and installed iTunes 64bit (I've also tried running the installer as administrator [in the compatibility properties]).
iTunes will recognise it with no problems and I can drag and drop anything I want to the iPhone, but I can't back up.
Software versions: iTunes v10.4.0.80, iPhone 4.3.5.
When I try to back up, the loading bar with either:
Have a loading bar with diagonal lines forever or,
it will start moving and freeze.
I've tried leaving the process for hours, but to no avail.
While the back up is being attempted, iTunes still retains full functionality.
I would exit by sliding the bar on my iPhone (iTunes will retain the loading bars as if frozen) and then unplug it. At this point iTunes takes a few seconds to drop the loading bar altogether, and the little screen will reset to normal functionality.
I believe this may be a iTunes-Windows thing as I did the following with my old laptop (Windows XP 32bit):
Installed iTunes for the first time.
Went into preferences and disabled the automatic backup option.
Plugged in the iPhone, right-click "back up".
The back up took less than 5 minutes.
I don't understand why my main PC can't back up my iPhone.
    Can anyone help please?
I've tried researching the same problems and I've ended up doing the following:
    Reinstalling iTunes,
Tried changing the iTunes installation folder to "Program Files" instead of "Program Files (x86)",
Deleting all contents from: "C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup",
Deleting the apps from my phone in case there are corrupt apps (doesn't make sense though as it backed up fine on my old laptop).
    I would appreciate any suggestions!
    Kind regards,
    Will

    Hi there,
I have the same issue. Usually hangs after 10K od sometimes after 18MB of backup file.
    Config: iTunes 10.4., Win 7 64bit, iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.3
I tried all of these without success:
    - deleted backups via iTunes / Preferences
    - deleted backups from sync folder
    - created a new admin user and tried to sync
    - reinstalled iTunes
    - ran all Windows updates, restarted, reinstalled iTunes
    - ran iTunes / Diagnostics (says everything okay, only info which is strange: diag says I am not a admin user, which is not correct)
Nothing helped. Who can help. I hope someone from Apple can take care, as I seem not to be the only one. Actually iTunes is the worst part about iPhone. Hope with iOS 5 and Cloud sync to get rid of iTunes.
    Any hints welcome,
    Cheers,
    Miguel-KA

  • Linksys Easy Link Advisor for WRT310N Wireless Router after upgrading to Windows 7 (64bit)

I can't reinstall Linksys Easy Link Advisor for WRT310N Wireless Router after upgrading to Windows 7 (64bit).  When I went to Linksys site for solution for new drivers, it asked me for Hardware Version Number.  This model doesn't show one.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

Sabertooth is right. If you are able to go online from your Router then you don't need to install LELA software on your Computer.

  • Upgrading to Windows 7 64bit

I recently purchased a new Satellite 510 series notebook. I came pre-loaded with Windows 7 32bit. I have my own copy of Windows 7 and I would like to install the 64bit version. Will I be able to do this and still use the computer? Will my Windows 7 DVD contain the drivers necessary to get my computer looking and working like it is now? Also, if I make a mistake, can I use the backup media DVDs to recover my system even if the Windows 7 64bit is installed? I'm a novice at this stuff, but I know there are comparability issues with 32 and 64 bit software. I don't want to completely screw up my computer.

First thing, call Toshiba to ask if computer can handle 64bit operating system. If yes, you can install the 64 bit OS in your computer. Windows will install native drivers for the computer. If you need a specific driver for a certain hardware, you will be able to download it at pcsupport.toshiba.com, just input the model of the computer.
Be sure to download the driver compatible to the model and to the 64bit operating system.

  • P-35 Patuinum XP Pro 32BIT- To Upgrade to Windows 7 64Bit???

Hello and this what I have at present >
MSI P-35 Platinum MoBo/3.3GB DDR memory/Intel Core2 2.4 Q6600 CPU/ Nvidia GeForce PCI-e 8600GT-512MB /500GB Internal WD HDD/500GB Ext, WD HDD/WinXP SP2/ NERO 9/ recently purchased Pinnacle Studio MovieBoard PCI card that doesn't work with XP Pro 32Bit, SP2, that's one of the reasons I'd like to upgrade.
Technology can be expensive. Always changing. I would like to upgrade from XP PRO 32,to Windows 7- 64, granted, I would rather have 8GB memory for my MEM hungry Photoshop CS4, but because of my 32Bit OS, I can not. Is it worth it to upgrade to the 64Bit,then have to upgrade my 8600GT, then buy more Ram (I have 4 sticks @ 1GB each) will have to replace with 8GB.
Can anyone tell me if my optical CD/DVD drive swill be ok, or a non-issue?
    Epson NX300 Scanner/Printer all-in-one? Intel Core2 Quad 6600?
MSI P-35 Platinum MoBo? Will all this be a nightmare....OR stick to 32 Bit Windows7? If I build my own, I was thinking of getting the OEM system build version of Pro 7.
Change is scary...and can be very expensive as well. Took me a long tome to change from Windows 98 to XP, Love XP...will I love Windows 7?
I want to do video editing too. I bought the pinnacle Studio MovieBoard and studio12 software, but having issues with the capture..most tell me to upgrade to fix issues. I'm getting sound capture, but no video using composite connections to analog Camcorder.
I use the MSI Liveupdate utility for my MSO MoBo, but if I want to download drivers and save them on a flash drive to install after the clean install of Win7, I can get them all here @ MSI?
Are there any other peeps out there who just might happen to have my same board and is upgrading from WinXP/32 to Windows 7/64, and is there any thing I need to know?
( I went to download the Nvidia Geforce 8600GT driver from MSI, but under the list my model doesn't even come up?  8600GT #512-P2-N756-TR, I thought it better to get it from MSI since they are the Mobo maker as opposed to going to Geforce.  Does it matter?

Depending on hardware, you can expect somewhere between 2.5 ~ 3.5 GB of usable RAM.  The 32bit OS can address 4GB of address space.  Part of this address space is RAM, but also, the onboard components and VGA are in the address space.  Today's VGAs often have a large amount of video RAM and that eats into the address space.  If you have a VGA with 2GB of ram or a crossfire/SLI configuration, you can expect far less Physical RAM to be available in a 32bit OS.

You need to ask in the Flash forum. However, be sure you have the most current version of Flash for the 64-bit system.

  • The Undock button not appeared when we upgrade to Windows 7 64bit

    Hello,
I have a problem in my laptop LATITUDE-E6410 after we upgraded the OS from Win XP to Win 7 64bit.The problem is the when i trying to undock the laptop from the dock station,Windows goes to freeze and i have to shutdown it from power button. So i want to make undock from start menu but i can not find this option and also there is not Eject option to undock the laptop safely. When i searched for that problem i found that there is an update for the ACPI but i can not find that update in dell website. So is any help for that ??
    Thanks

    Hi Sys Support,
Thanks for the post! I would first suggest making sure the chipset drivers are up to date with the latest released on our support site, as this issue started only after updating your operating system its likely this is the result of a software / driver problem.
To help makes sure all of the latest updates are installed on the system you can use the Dell Command | Update Software HERE, This software should automatically scan your systems drivers and install any updates available from our support site.
We have also released several BIOS updates for this unit, some with improvements to docking functionality. Please find these updates HERE.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Portege R700-17Z - Upgrading to Windows 7 64bit

    Hi,
    I currently have a Toshiba Portege R700-17Z.
I want to increase the amount of RAM from 2GB to 8GB, and as a result I want to run Windows 64 bit. I was planning on running a clean reinstall, but is 64 bit Windows built into this machine? Or will I need a separate disk?
If I need a separate disk, any ideas on how to do this without an optical drive?
    Many thanks!

At first info about RAM upgrade: You are right. You can upgrade your Portege up to 8GB and compatible 4GB modules have part number PA3677U-1M4G.
According notebook specification your Portege was delivered with WIN7 32BIT PROFESSIONAL but it is supported for Win7 64bit. 64bit drivers and Toshiba specific tools and utilities can be downloaded from Toshiba download page.
What is your decision now? If you need some assistance with OS installation let us know.

  • Windows 7 (64Bit) Ultimate: K80 connected via USB stops in the middle of printing

    Hi,
I recently got a new PC with Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. I connected the Printer through USB and all the drivers installed automatically. I was able to print.
However, if I print pages with just a little more data from time to time printing stops right after the first quarter to print and the printer ejects the paper and stops. Windows reports an error in the control panel by showing up the yellow exclamation mark.
HP Printer Installation tool just hangs, HP Print and Scan Doctor finds a prob in the printing queue and solves it after the problem has occured. However, the prob comes back very often, multiple times a day!
Some pages print ok, other (esp. if multiple pages) NOT.
    Any ideas?

    Hi there @OrganicMan
    Welcome to the forums
I read about the printing problems you have been facing with your new Windows 7 system, when printing to your Officejet K80. You mentioned that the Print and Scan Doctor will detect an issue with the Print Queue, and fix it temporarily, so I would suggest that you check the guide below and try out all of the steps it lists, as there may be something else causing the glitch. These steps should catch the problem.
I hope this fixes the issue for you!

  • Windows 7 64bit BSOD issue

I've been recently getting some BSOD on my pc (win7 64bit) and for the life of me I can't figure out what's causing them. I've run memtest and didn't find any issues. One thing I've noticed is that it will sometimes sit at the login screen and just repeatedly
cycle through that and there isn't anything I can do but hold the power button down. It's almost like I entering a password incorrectly and sends me back to the login screen only to blow right past that without allowing me to enter a password.
I've uploaded my minidump file to skydrive. If someone could take a look and let me know what the issue might be I would really appreciate it.
    https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=818BC808CAF94AA7!651&authkey=!AESwFMlAq6xI8DA&ithint=file%2c.zip
    Thanks,
    Jason

I'll answer what I can right now since I'm at work.
BSOD - I can login and use the machine at times without much issue. Occasionally the system will BSOD on me randomly. One thing for sure that happens almost every time is the looping at the login screen. I've got my system password protected so you must
login. Anyway what happens is that if I leave my PC on for any given amount of time and come back to the PC the login screen is looping. What I mean by this is that instead of allowing me to enter a password it appears one was already entered or the system
thinks one has and then quickly goes to the waiting screen, you see briefly it didn't login then back to password prompt without allowing me to enter a pwd and then right back to the waiting screen for the attemted login. It just keeps looping like that without
stopping. Only way to get out of this is to hit the reset button or hold the power button down.
I've re-installed windows multiple times hoping it was something that would be fixed by the install (clean install). This is Windows 7 64bit Ultimate edition.
Graphics - I am not using onboard graphics - I have this disabled.
Memory - The memory that I have is rated as ddr3-1600 but it's only running at 1333 (would need to overclock it to get 1600) - runs at 1333 by default.
I'm currently downloading and installing update to the bios, mb drivers, etc and then will run another test to see if this helps at all.
I'll also look at the memory to make sure it's supported for my MB and CPU.
let me know if I forgot anything.
    Thanks,
    Jason
