Recognizing new file to trigger event

Is it possible to trigger an event in SAP once a file is posted in a certain folder? This event will then be used to trigger a background batch job.

This event is best being triggered from outside SAP using the "sapevt" command. Whatever process copies the file can probably call a shell script (or similar) containing that command after a successful copy.
Alternative is a polling job in SAP that runs every x minutes and checks for new files.

  • No "before new record saved" trigger event in workflow definition ?

    Hello,
    I have following problem: I have to make a simple integration, where products have information about available quantity of given product . Assume we have field - it is called "Available amount" and it tells how many products are on stock. Now suppose we have created an opportunity, and we want to add Opportunity Product Revenue - we're selecting product and then quantity. I want to make OCOD to display message and prevent from adding opportunity product revenue, when its quantity is greater than "Available amount" field which is present in associated product record. I've created small C# application and used workflows to create Integration events. It works - but not exaclty how I want it - when I add a new record the workflow generates integration event - but I'd like to generate integration event before a record is created, also I'd like to show a notification from OCOD. But for "revenue" we do not have a trigger event called for example : "before new record saved" - we have only "when new record saved" and "before modified record saved".

    Hi,
    From your requirement, it seems you, want some kind of check. Did you try puting this validation on field level, i guess you would need to join fields and compare in field validation. So, whenever user creates a new record this validation kicks and user is notified of the error.

  • Can i write information in file on trigger event.

    Dear Experts,
    I want ot store information in file on particular Trigger event.
    Is it possible? if yes then how?

    We can write to files using the UTL_FILE PL/SQL package. Please read the documentation on this: the security model in particular seems to trip up many newcomers.

  • Trigger automator script when new file created

    I want to create an automator script that will recognise when a new file is created (with a name that matches a particular pattern and in a certain directory) and mail that file to a predefined address. Is that possible?

    yes, this is possible with a folder action. you can attach a folder action to the folder in question. it will watch this folder for new files and trigger when a new file is added. you can create an automator workflow and save it as a folder action plugin.

  • Trying to move my iTunes Music and other media from the main drive on my pc to an external hard drive but iTunes is not recognizing the new file location?  Ideas?

    Trying to move my iTunes Music and other media from the main drive on my pc to an external hard drive but iTunes is not recognizing the new file location?  Ideas?

    Hello there, Underwriter.
    The following Knowledge Base article provides in-depth instructions on how to migrate your content to an external drive:
    iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
    Particularly of note for your situation:
    External drive
    This option requires more work than Home Sharing, but it creates a backup of your iTunes library on the external drive in addition to moving your content.
    Notes before you start:
    You can use most iPods as an external drive.
    Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). Because of this, you can't use a Mac-formatted iPod or external drive to move your music to a Windows PC. See iPod: How to determine iPod's hard disk format if you're not sure how your iPod is formatted.
    Mac OS X can read Windows-formatted iPods and drives. This means there are many ways to migrate your information from your old Windows-based PC to your new Mac.
    Mac OS X: To be sure external drives appear on your desktop, choose Preferences from the Finder menu. Be sure the options for "External disks" and "Hard disks" are enabled.
    Part 1: Locating and consolidating the iTunes Media folder
    Part 2: Copy iTunes folder from the old computer:
    Part 3: Get iTunes ready on your new computer
    Part 4: Back up any music that's already on your new computer
    Part 5: Copy music to your new computer
    Part 6: Add preexisting music that was on the new computer back into the library

  • Event handler if new File added in current folder

    Hi folks,
    I'm just trying to write a little jsx script for Bridge CS6.
    How can I implement an event handler that will react if the user adds a new thumbnail (new file) to the current folder in bridge.
    I've tested it with this code, but it doesn't work:
    app.document.thumbnail.watch ("children", function(id, oldVal, newVal) {
         $.writeln (oldVal + " to " + newVal);
         // some code here
    Thanks. Greetings

    Beautiful. Works as advertised. Thank you for pointing it out to me. Unfortunate that a basic subset of this extension's behaviour doesn't ship with Thunderbird out of the box, though.

  • Extra empty groupName in TDMS file when using DAQmx Start New File & stop DAQmx while waiting for trigger?

    I wrote a VI that listens to an external trigger coming from a PFI line and saves a user-defined number of pretrigger+posttrigger samples into disk, and then the DAQmx restarts to wait for the next trigger. I used the DAQmx Start New File.vi to change the filename of each of the next file. However, I found that for each of the resulting TDMS files, there is an additional group that is added in addition to the real data. For example, if the groupName is set to "task_voltage", then there is an additional groupName called "task_voltage #1".
    I suspect that this is because the program preallocate diskspace using the old filename for the pretriggered samples, but when the trigger happens and the samples are ready to be written into disk, an actual new file is opened and saved. The reason I think this might be the case is because, say each file would be 50kB and I already have 1 file triggered and saved, before the second trigger comes in, I can see that the file size of the first file is twice as much as it should be (100kB), but the file size will return to noraml (50kB) after the second trigger happens and a second file is created.
    Does anyone know if this is really the case? Is there a way to configure the task so that this doesn't happen?
    Another question I have is that the program currently set up so that the VI will wait until a trigger happens to return the values. However, this means that if a trigger doesn't happen, the VI waits indefintely, and the "stop" button in the while loop is useless. I have to use the "Abort Execustion" button on the tool bar to stop the VI. Is there a way to interrupt and stop the DAQmx task even if the trigger doesn't happen?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    I don't believe there is a way to programmatically change/delete the group name in a TDMS file. What you can do however, is convert between TDMS and TDM using the VIs found in the Data Storage palette and then perform whatever modifications you need using the TDM utilities.

  • Need to add date/time stamp to file name without time change creating new files

    We have setup our application to save data once a trigger event occurs. We also need the date/time stamp as part of the file name. We used Format Date/Time String and concatenated it into the file name. It all works good, but as the time changes (seconds, minutes, etc.) it causes the Write to File to create a new file with the new filename. Is there a way to create the file and save/latch/buffer the time in the file name so that it doesn't create a new file for every second?
    I've attached a shot of the relevant part of our VI. It's all in a big while loop. The data save is in a case/switch so that when it is triggered it starts saving. (The for loop is to split the data up
    into 4 different files). Like I said, it all works except new files are created every second as the time changes instead of just putting it all in one file with the initial time in the file name.

    I need a loop in order to use a shift register. I cannot stop the outer while loop (because it would stop the hardware from collecting data), and I cannot add loops inside which bogs down the processor to where the app stops. I've attached a simpler version of my VI which illustrates the problem. While the button is pressed (the trigger) it should save the data (in this case just cycle numbers) into one file with the initial date/time. But, you can see that it creates 1 file/second. I tried using shift registers, but without adding extra loops I can't see how to do it. Thanks

  • Tracking trigger event.

    Hello,
    Now, I am debugging on my trigger event. So I want to know is there a way to tracking trigger event on log file or table?
    a sample of my trigger as follow
    create or replace trigger insertInvoicetrigger
    after insert on invoice
    for each row
    begin
    update customers set COM_BALANCE = COM_BALANCE + :new.INVOICE_TOTAL where tid = :new.com_id;
    end;
    /Thank you!

    You can create a procedure with AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION pragma and do your logging in to table in that and commit. AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION pragma ? what is that? I am no knowledge about this, please give me some more information....
    set serveroutput on
    then
    dbms_output.put_line
    this should be the easiest way to debugging for me, but can it be works on my programming application (visual basic 6)?
    I means run and fire trigger(s) from my app, then show it command prompt or somewhere else?
    Thanks
    ;)

  • Bootsplash trigger events

    on the bootsplash webpage it says to
    trigger events during bootup
    we suggest that you add a function to your init scripts that is called every time an init script is started. This can either be done in the runlevel scripts themselves or by the script/program scheduling it (i.e. /etc/init.d/rc)
    function rc_splash()
    test "$SPLASH" != "no" && test "$_rc_splash" -eq 1 && /sbin/splash "$1"
    progress=$(( $progress + 1 ))
    when adding the rc_splash call to your runlevel script scheduler, do it
    about like this:
    for i in $runrc/S${rex}*; do
    # send information to bootsplash handler.
    rc_splash "$i start"
    done
    but where is the archs program scheduling file., as i dont seem to see a /etc/init.d/rc, im tying to get the  Default Linux theme at bootsplashes webpage to work.. i got everything to work except silent mode to display the silent Jpeg and gradient bar
    thanks
    -bolero

    I have now gotten the progress bar to work. After trying a couple different approaches, this is my best shot. In /etc/rc.d/functions I extended stat_busy(), stat_done() and stat_fail() to look like this:
    stat_busy() {
    echo -ne "$C_OTHER$PREFIX_REG $C_MAIN$1$C_CLEAR "
    deltext
    echo -ne " $C_OTHER[${C_BUSY}BUSY$C_OTHER]$C_CLEAR "
    [ "$BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS" -a "$BOOTSPLASH_DELTA" ] &&
    BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS=$(($BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS+$BOOTSPLASH_DELTA))
    stat_done() {
    deltext
    echo -e " $C_OTHER[${C_DONE}DONE$C_OTHER]$C_CLEAR "
    [ "$BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS" -a -w /proc/splash ] &&
    echo "show $BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS" > /proc/splash
    stat_fail() {
    deltext
    echo -e " $C_OTHER[${C_FAIL}FAIL$C_OTHER]$C_CLEAR "
    [ "$BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS" -a -w /proc/splash ] &&
    echo "show $BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS" > /proc/splash
    The idea is that $BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS holds the current value of the progress bar (which is in the range 0 - 65535) and $BOOTSPLASH_DELTA is the amount to increase the progress counter with on each stat_busy. These values are initialized in rc.sysinit like this:
    [ "$BOOTSPLASH_SYSINIT" ] ||
    BOOTSPLASH_SYSINIT=`grep -c -e stat_busy -e status /etc/rc.sysinit`
    [ "$BOOTSPLASH_LOCAL" ] ||
    BOOTSPLASH_LOCAL=`grep -c -e stat_busy -e status /etc/rc.local`
    BOOTSPLASH_DAEMONS=`echo ${DAEMONS[@]} | sed 's/![^ ]*//g' | wc -w`
    BOOTSPLASH_ALL=$(($BOOTSPLASH_SYSINIT+$BOOTSPLASH_LOCAL+$BOOTSPLASH_DAEMONS))
    BOOTSPLASH_DELTA=$((65535/$BOOTSPLASH_ALL))
    BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS=$((65535-$BOOTSPLASH_ALL*$BOOTSPLASH_DELTA))
    I put this right before the point where local file systems are mounted, because the progress bar can't be updated before /proc is accessible. Another option is to initialize these variables in the beginning of rc.sysinit to make earlier stat_busy calls get counted, but the updates won't be visible before /proc is mounted anyway.
    Because there is no way to export these variables from rc.sysinit to init's environment, rc.multi has to calculate them from scratch. Also the loop that starts daemons has to increase the counter because the daemon scripts can't export the new values. My full rc.multi script looks like this:
    . /etc/rc.conf
    . /etc/rc.d/functions
    [ "$BOOTSPLASH_SYSINIT" ] ||
    BOOTSPLASH_SYSINIT=`grep -c -e stat_busy -e status /etc/rc.sysinit`
    [ "$BOOTSPLASH_LOCAL" ] ||
    BOOTSPLASH_LOCAL=`grep -c -e stat_busy -e status /etc/rc.local`
    BOOTSPLASH_DAEMONS=`echo ${DAEMONS[@]} | sed 's/![^ ]*//g' | wc -w`
    BOOTSPLASH_DELTA=$((65535/($BOOTSPLASH_SYSINIT+$BOOTSPLASH_LOCAL+$BOOTSPLASH_DAEMONS)))
    BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS=$((65535-($BOOTSPLASH_LOCAL+$BOOTSPLASH_DAEMONS)*$BOOTSPLASH_DELTA))
    export BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS BOOTSPLASH_DELTA
    # Start daemons
    for daemon in "${DAEMONS[@]}"; do
    if [[ `echo $daemon | grep '^[^!]' | wc -l` -eq 1 ]]; then
    /etc/rc.d/$daemon start
    BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS=$(($BOOTSPLASH_PROGRESS+$BOOTSPLASH_DELTA))
    fi
    done
    if [ -x /etc/rc.local ]; then
    /etc/rc.local
    fi
    Like I mentioned in my previous post, it's hard to know how many steps the bar is going to need. Especially rc.sysinit is full of conditional stat_busy statements. Therefor I made it possible to specify $BOOTSPLASH_SYSINIT (number of steps in rc.sysinit) in rc.conf. With the current rc.sysinit script this value is calculated as 19, but on my system rc.sysinit only executes 8 of the steps after the point where /proc is mounted.
    The code presented here doesn't display text for the different stat_busy calls. I kind of had that working as well, but the texts were written on top of each other (old text wasn't erased) and you had to source the bootsplash-theme to get the text's font and position - it wasn't pretty.
    I hope somebody finds this useful, and I might make a bootsplash package that includes the splash utils, an Arch theme and patches for the init scripts.

  • Adding new files to the existing Keyword Collections

    Hi,
    I have been using Keyword Collections as folders when importing files - not sure if there is a "normal" way of creating folders for clips/audio/other files?
    Anyway, when I start a project and import a folder with a few files, I create  Keyword Collection. Later on, when I add more files into that folder in Finder and try to import the same folder as keyword collection again, the "new" files will not be assigned with that keyword collection. They're thrown straight into the event and the keyword collection only shows files from the first import.
    In other words, having a Keyword Collection created when importing a folder - is there a way to assign more files to it later on? Sorry if it's a stupid question.
    Thanks,
    Kamil

    YYou can drag them into the keyword collection once you've imported them. Another simple way is to pick up the files in the Finder, use Cmd-tab to switch to FCP, and drag them directly to the collection. The clips will import using your import preference.

  • Automator and applescript to copy new files in a folder with same name as parent folder

    I have an iMac with a pictures folder (Finder folder) containing several subfolders with pictures. As per now, all these subfolders are imported into an iPhoto library (and the structure of the Finder pictures folder is thus maintained: The iPhoto events are named the same as the Finder subfolder). I.e. I have not created any albums in iPhoto.
    I have also set up a workflow, where new iPhone photos are automatically being synced to specified Finder folders within the iMac pictures folder. So what I want to do is to make a workflow to import potential new photos from week to week into the existing iPhoto structure. I know iPhoto has this Autoimport folder, so this one is unpacked and "mapped". So, this is what I´m hoping to do:
    Automator (iCal - want to do this on a weekly basis):
    - Get specified Finder items -- set to target folder = iMac pictures folder
    - Get folder content (with subfolders)
    - Filter Finder items
         - Items from the last 7 days (which then would be any new files created last week)
    - Applescript/shell script loop(?)
         - Get folder name for each file´s (from previous step) parent folder
         - Create new folder with same name as the file´s parent folder (if not already existing) under the iPhoto Autoimport folder
         - Copy the given file into the folder from above
    - Run iPhoto application (Automator task), which then should just auto import the new photos according to the Finder folder structure
    Whith the workflow above, I aim to maintain the existing iPhoto structure, and just import new photos into the existing structure. Creating folder names under the Autoimport, similar as the existing Finder folder names / iPhoto events should make it possible to have the new files imported under the existing event, right?

    Anyone?
    I have now switched to Aperture (from iPhoto) due to Aperture´s capability to handle Finder folder structure, and due to the possibility of having the pictures within Aperture as referenced files to the pictures within the Finder folders (i.e. possibility to delete pictures from both library and Finder folder at the same time).
    So I have a superior Finder folder called "Album". Within "Album" I have several subfolders (sub albums) containing pictures. The "Album" folder with subfolders are imported into Aperture as "Projects and albums", and the pictures are uploaded within the Aperture structure as referenced files. So for now the Aperture structure is more or less a direct mirror of the Finder folder structure, whereas "Album" is the project.
    And this is my current workflow in Automator, but I´m searching help with my Applescript:
    - Get specified Finder items (target folder = the superior Finder folder "Album")
    - Get Folder content
    - Filter Finder items (to look for potential new files to import into Aperture)
         - Kind is not folder
         - Date created last X days
    The output files from this task enters an Applescript
    on run {input, parameters}
           repeat with f in input (**Loop**)
                   tell application "Finder"
                          set fileName to name of (f)
                          set parentFolder to name of container of (f)
                          tell application "Aperture"
                                 tell library 1
                                        tell project "Album"
                                               if (exists album parentFolder) then
                                                 ** I then would like to check if fileName already exist within the existing album**
                                                 ** If not existing, I would like to import file f into the existing album as a referenced file**
                                               else if not (exists album parentFolder) then
                                                       make new album with properties {name:parentFolder}
                                                ** I then would like to import file f into the new album as a referenced file**
                                               end if
                                        end tell
                                 end tell
                          end tell
                   end tell
           end repeat
    end run

  • In Reports what  is the difference between the AT NEW and ON CHANGE Event

    Hi,
            Could you tell the differences of AT NEW and ON CHANGE events in Repors

    Hi raghava,
    The Major Difference is :
    a) When AT NEW occurs,
    the alpha-numeric fields have ******* in their value,
    b) where as in case of ON CHANGE,
    the alpha-numeric fields have their corresponding value,
    of that particular record,
    where the Event gets fired.
    Other differences are :
    ON CHANGE OF can be used any where in the program..
    on change of differs from at new in the following respects:
    1.It can be used in any loop construct, not just loop at. For example, it can be used within select and endselect, do and enddo, or while and endwhile, as well as inside get events.
    2.A single on change of can be triggered by a change within one or more fields named after of and separated by or. These fields can be elementary fields or field strings. If you are within a loop, these fields do not have to belong to the loop.
    3.When used within a loop, a change in a field to the left of the control level does not trigger a control break.
    4.When used within a loop, fields to the right still contain their original values; they are not changed to contain zeros or asterisks.
    5.You can use else between on change of and endon.
    6.You can use it with loop at it where . . ..
    7.You can use sum with on change of. It sums all numeric fields except the one(s) named after of.
    8.Any values changed within on change of remain changed after endon. The contents of the header line are not restored as they are for at and endat.
    while
    AT NEW can be used only within a loop of an INTERNAL TABLE..
    5. Sample program to get the taste of it
    (just copy paste)
    6.

  • Webutil crashes while calling Function in when-new-item-instance-trigger

    Hello !
    I use Oracle AS 10.1.2 and webutil 1.0.6 and Oracle Forms Developer Version 10.1.2.
    When I call the webutilfunctions within a when-button-pressed or post-change trigger, everything works fine.
    When I call the webutilfunctions within a when-new-item-instance-trigger i get an error message:
    oracle.forms.webutil.file.FileFunctions bean not found.
    CLIENT_TEXT_IO.fopen will not work
    What are the reasons for this behavior ? How can I solve the problem ?
    PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!

    I think that this is well explained in the webutil documentation(pdf).
    You cannot use the functions in the initialisation phase of the form, including triggers like When-New-Form-Instance, When-New-Block-Instance,etc...
    The workaround is to use a timer to wait the necessary time for the beans to instantiate themselves.
