Recompiling on the server

I am looking for some advice to speed up moving all the forms to the application server running on Unix.
I noticed that because unix is case sensitive I have to convert all fmb´s to fmt by hand, check that all the attached libraries are in lower case and then recompile eveything otherwise I run into problems at runtime.It´s also the same for libraries and menu´s. I can write unix scripts to convert all the files to text files and also to compile from text files it´s changing all the attached library names to lowercase that´s costing so much time.
..or I am doing something wrong in design time ?
Any suggestions.
Thanks
Dave

Dave,
It is a pain in S..... But if you feel the number of file name case mess-up is not that many, then you may in unix vi each source file to scan out the form file name in open/go/new_form() calls, then compare with the relating source file names, to see if there is case difference. If most of them are matching the same case mix, then you can dirctly compile the source files. If not, you do your convertion.
As of the menu, lib, the above way is not feasible. But form may be the big chunk of your work, hope this idea may help reduce your convertion work a bit.

  • Reloading JavaBeans in a JSP without re-starting the server

              The JSP will get recompiled but the bean is already sucked in by the server. Even if you break the session by doing reqest.getSession.invalidate() at the end of your JSP - it still persists. Even try removing your bean class and you will still see that the page is working. That proves it doesn't use .class anymore. However when you touch your .jsp at this time and try to re-display it in the browser you will get compilation error because .class cannot be imported. When you put a new class and repeat it, it compiles against that new class but still executes with the old one. Until you restart the WebLogic server...

  • Dynamically load the content without re-starting the server

    Let me explain the scenario.........
    I have a JSP in which I call a method written in a different class( java file).
    Now, when I change the content of the method in the class and compile it, how can I get the updated stuff in the JSP without re-starting the server.
    Even though I have to re-deploy the changed class, I need to re-start the server to get the updates effective.
    The env set up is on Tomcat
    fun_one

    FUN_ONE, I am using Tomcat 5.0 (though not 5.5), and have a Test application that I do not use WARs to deply. The Context is set with reloadable="true".
    I have this simple bean:
    package jsp.beans;
    public class ItemBean implements java.io.Serializable
         public String getjunk() { return "Hello"; }
    } And this JSP
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
    <html>
      <head>
      </head>
      <body>
        <!-- Display the session ID for this user -->
        <p><c:out value="${pageContext.session.id}"/></p>
        <!-- Get the junk string from the ItemBean -->
        <p><jsp:useBean id="it" class="jsp.beans.ItemBean"/>
        <c:out value="${it.junk}"/></p>
      </body>
    </html> I run the JSP, then change the text returned by the bean, recompile it, then reload the JSP (force reload). The session id remains the same, and the text changes. Does this work on your system? (note, you do have to restart your server once after you set the Context to be reloadable="true")

  • Pre-compiled JSPs getting re-compiled by the server

    For our project we are using wlappc to pre-compile JSPs and generate EJB classes. We are using the split directory format, so this is what the task looks like -
    <target name="appCompile" depends="init" >
    <delete dir="${ear.dist}" />
    <mkdir dir="${ear.dist}" />
    <wlpackage srcdir="${ear.src}" destdir="${ear.build}"
    toDir="${ear.dist}" />
         <wlappc source="${ear.dist}" verbose="true" classpath="${classpath}" />
    </target>
    After this, we are using wldeploy to deploy the application to another server.
    This is how the task looks like -
         <target name="beadeploy" depends="init" >
         <wldeploy action="deploy"
              source="${src.dir}/dist/myapp.ear"
              name="myApplication" remote="true"
              user="${deploy.username}" password="${deploy.password}"
              verbose="true" adminurl="t3://${deploy.host}:${deploy.port}"
              upload="true"
              debug="true" targets="${deploy.target}"/>
         </target>
    The problem that I am facing is that, even after re-compiling the JSPs, they get compiled again by the server when accessed for the first time !
    We using Weblogic 8.1.2.0. Can you please provide a soplution for this ?

    Hi,
    The following steps help you troubleshoot why you may be having problems with JSPs recompiling:
    1. When invoking jspc, your classpath must contain the same release, service-pack, and any temporary patches as the servers you wish to deploy on. Otherwise, the Server will read the JSPs as being compiled on a different version of the WebLogic, and will recompile them all.
    2. You should invoke jspc from the root directory of your open-directory exploded) WebApp or specify -webapp) and use the -d option to deploy the generated classes to the WEB-INF/classes directory. You can then archive these JSP classes into a JAR if you wish from the WEB-INF/classes directory.
    3. The JSPs should then be deployed either individually to the WEB-INF/classes/jsp_servlet directory or in a JAR file under the WEB-INF/lib directory.
    4. One other thing that could cause JSPs to be recompiled is if the timestamp of the class is different from that of the source.
    Also, if your ant classpath is different from whatever WLS-related classpath entries you use to run WLS, this may cause problems, too.

  • Dynamic Proxies - being forced to recompile client if server changes

    all,
    I am using WLS 6.1 sp 2.
    I have a bean deployed on a particular instance of Weblogic.
    This bean is being accessed by a bean from a different instance.
    The calling applications ear contains a jar containing the Interface classes, Helper Classes, Stub classes (included since I have read server does not allow dynamic download of stubs), XML (I guess from 6.1 onwards weblogic uses dynamic proxies).
    The problem is that every time my server implementation changes just replacing and redploying the client jar doesn't work. I have to recompile my calling application with the new client jar.

    What's that test for? That method only returns null if you write a null. Are you doing that? or are you expecting a null at EOS? You won't get that, you will get an EOFException.The tutorial that I read from said that if the server closes before the client that the client will read a null before it can close. So it throws a EOFException instead of a null at the EOS? How should I modify it then so that it checks for end of file yet still reads the input?
    ejp wrote:
    That should work unless there is something else you haven't shown us. Only other things that I can think of is that both the server and the client are on thier own threads because it is a multi-client server, that is not my actual code from my program (I just removed the parts that won't effect whats going on and are fluff), and that this would be the second time that I am sending that Object to the client. Once when my program starts and then the next in the code example I gave you. But thats pretty much it. I pass other Objects fine between the server and clients, I am just having trouble with this guy. Also, this Object implements Serializable and all Objects contained within it also do as well.

    Hi All,
    I have a strange problem when i query all records and navigate between the record then the form show me the error frm-92100 your connection to the server is failed------------- it came on the particular record but when i query that record manullay then no error came.
    I m using the oracle 10g XE and application server 10g rel.2 .
    when i run that form on the 6i then it gave me no error.

    Verify the following:
    1. Recompiled all modules related to the application. This includes FMB, MMB, and PLL files. Be sure this is accomplished on the machine from where the executibles will be deployed.
    2. networkRetries=5 in formsweb.cfg. By default the value is 0
    3. iAS has been patched to 10.1.2.2. If the installation is on Windows or Solaris, you must also install a required follow-on patch (see below):

    *Adding new items/removing orphans*
    Try iTunes Folder Watch or iTunes Library Updater. Folder Watch is much faster on the adding files front, can be set to run in the background and includes a useful exclusion feature, however it’s slow at removing orphans. iTLU is better for this although doing it manually after looking at a list of proposed removals generated by Folder Watch is probably faster still. iTLU can also be set to update iTunes when you've used 3rd party tools to change tag info.
    You may need to amend the list of file types these programs look for. My list includes:
    .mp3 .mp4 .m4a .m4b .m4p .m4v .mov .wav .aif .mid .ipa .ipg .ite .itlp .m4r .pdf
    Note the last 6 types may not be recognised as already being in the library so should either be omitted from the search or you can add (at least for Folder Watch) individual exclusions for files you know are already in your library.

  • How can I set up a new account without auto deleting messages on the server?

    Ive got accounts on COMCAST.NET (are those imap accounts?) and when I created a user account on Thunderbird for one of them the autocreate process immedaitely started downloading messages from my server before I was able to set the "keep messages on server" flag. (Its been a few months, forgive me if I am not using the exact right option text but you get the idea.)
    How can I create a Thunderbird account that will download all the message on my server (comcast.net) and leave them all there?
    That's the only thing keeping me from switching to Thunderbird. Please help - comcast's online web client is not the most bug free thing in the world.
    (Note, I am setting up a new win7 system, had been using OE 6 on winXP. I assume I am better off trying this than running OE in XP in a virtual window - and even if I moved my old message bases from XP I still need to create an account that won't immediately start downloading/deleting messages from my server before I can configure it not to.)
    Any help appreciated.

    Comcast only offers POP accounts, and one way to set up the account and enter all the settings before it connects to the mail server, might be to do it Offline:

  • How do I stop iCal from changing the server path of CalDAV accounts?

    I'm using Davical as a calendar server for our family. Some may wonder why I use Davical and not iCloud. I do for one reason...there is no way to disable getting other users' alarms on the iPhone. I want to be able to view my wife's calendar but not get her alarms and have her be able to view my calendar and not get my alarms.
    So, now onto the issue with server path setting changing in iCal. We each have our own calendar set up within our own accounts on our Davical server. We each have read access to the other's calendar. Within iCal account settings I have her account set up on my Mac with my username/password (jason/****) and, under server settings, the server path points to her calendar /caldav.php/juiper/). After a few days, sometimes just a few hours, suddenly I will have duplicate events throughout my calandar in iCal. Going to preferences I will see that the server path for her calendar will have been changed to the location of my calendar (/caldav.php/jason/). I'll correct the server path, restart iCal and then the calander will be correct for a while unitl the server path is automatically and incorrectly changed again and I must manually correct it again.
    Thanks!

    My coworkers and I use DavMail to share access to a shared Exchange calendar, authenticating with our own ADS credentials. We also see the behavior where iCal will reset the CalDav calendar path to the username (our own) that is authenticating to the CalDav service. In Lion this wasn't a deal breaker for us. While very annoying, the work around was simple. Update the path via preferences, and restart iCal. However in Mountain Lion, the issue has become a lot more difficult to fix. It's no longer a matter of updating the path via preferences and restarting.
    In Mountain Lion the solution to change the CalDav path back to the original path requires you to edit the file ~/Library/Calendars/<somehash>.caldav/Info.plist
    Contained within this file is a value "CalendarHomePath", simply update the string to your desired path, clear out the 'Calendar Cache' file for good measure, then restart iCal.

  • How can I create a fIlter to delete only "junk" from the server?

    One of my E-mail accounts is that of a major client. I handle their customer service online. Normally our protocol is to always leave all messages on the server, so for that one Thunderbird account, I have it set to never delete messages on the server.
    But the account recently started getting a lot of junk messages. Thunderbird is doing a remarkable job at marking those and placing them in the junk folder for that account. I would like to create a filter that could remove them from the server, preferably those more than "x" days old so I could monitor the activity to be sure that no important message are removed.
    I did notice that in "Filters" I can create a custom filter from a header of my choice, but can't seem to create what I want which is:
    - after mail is marked as Junk by Thunderbird to delete those messages from the server if they are older than "X" days (my choice of "X").
    - not delete any other messages from the server for that account

    I believe that did it! Thank you. I am running those changes on a secondary E-Mail address for the same job and server and it appears to be working properly.

    I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
    Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
    many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
    How do I connect to my Local DB?
    Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
    instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
    I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
    I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
    May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
    Some of the things I have tried:
    From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
    net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
    net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
    on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

    Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

    It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
    Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
    If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
    name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
    is the instance name you set during install).
    You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
    recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

    Unlikely.  Based on the complete lack of detail of the issue provided it is entirely possible the same issue would occur.
    Unless and until the user provides some actual details of the problem, there is nothing the indicate that the issue is with the iPhone.
