Reconfiguring Database connection procedure.

Hi All,
If my database server name and IP address change, to reconfigure database connection of P6 we client,
I need to run dbconfigpv.cmd.
After running this file and entering all details of new databse at next stage what to select between below two options:
1. Existing Configuration
2. Create New configuration
Do i need to do any other change ?
In P6 Optional client, I simply need to create new configuration?

Hi,
Once you have run through dbconfigpv.cmd it will update BREBootstrap.xml file with the new database details.
When you run adminpv.cmd it will look at this and connect to the new database.
After you've logged into adminpv.cmd you will want to update the following:
Configurations->Primavera P6 Configuration->Database->Instance[1]->Driver Class & URL->URL
You might have a slightly different name to 'Primavera P6 Configuration'
You might have more than one Instance[x] under the configuration - check the URL for all of them.
BTW to edit a field either triple click or highlight it and press F2.
Regards
Alex

  • Database connection pooling in ADF causing db procedure calls to use different transaction or session

    We have developed an application using JDev Version 11.1.2.1.0 and the database is oracle 11g EE.
    We have many database procedures or function calls from the model (AMImpl.java, VORowImpl.java) and the commit does not happen in the database and it happens from ADF. The database procedures are called in some valueChangeListnener and these procedures use the same transaction or session database session when called and update some records in some tables that are displayed in pages.
    We started using connection pooling recently in our ADF application,  -Djbo.doconnectionpooling=true -Djbo.txn.disconnect_level=1. When using connection pooling, we noticed that the database procedure calls use a different trasanction or different database session and the data or records that these procedures update is lost.
    After removing the connection pooling, we noticed that the procedures again started using the same transaction or same database session and was working fine.
    I want to know why this connnection pooling caused this issue and is there any fix for this when using connection pooling?

    Take a look at
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31974/bcampool.htm#CIHCHHEA
    What You May Need to Know About Database User State and jbo.doconnectionpooling = true
    As you can see:
    "At the end of the request when the application module is released back to the application module pool, that application module pool releases the JDBC connection it was using back to the database connection pool. It follows that with jbo.doconnectionpooling set to true the application module instance in the pool may have a completely different JDBC connection each time you check it out of the pool"
    So, the best you can do, is to revert jbo.doconnectionpooling to false.

    It's not the same how you implement the programs in java or .Net to create DB connection. It's different over here. You have use the DataBase Links in order to make to connection with another DB and use that Link in the stored procedure or function where ever its necessary as per your requirement.

  • Export to PDF from populated c# Dataset without Database connection

    I have Crystal Reports Developer Full version 11.5.12.1838, all versions of Visual Studio and about 100+ reports targeting printed paper.
    They were developed over the last decade with the Developer Designer (and it's predecessors) and are based on SQL Server Stored Procedures. In the past, they were produced at runtime using a MS Access VBA application that either printed them or exported them to PDF files. I have successfully converted that application to C#, however a few problems: despite loading a populated dataset and setting all parameters, the runtime still wants to refresh the dataset. That works for 95% of all reports, but some just use null values for the parameters (despite having set them correctly), others mix the sequence of the parameters (despite querying them correctly) and some don't use the provided credentials. But that is not the main problem.
    Now I need a way to produce (export to PDF) these reports at runtime based on a populated C# Dataset without database connectivity for the Crystal environment. The structure of the data in the Dataset is identical to what the stored procedure return in the development environment.
    The question is: is that possible and what do I need in terms of version, SDK etc. Any advice (sample links) would be much appreciated.

    Hi Ludek;
    Thanks for the hints. After many many hours of research and trial and error here are my findings:
    Assigning a dataset to CR does NOT work - seems CR is just ignoring it completely. What does (partially) work is assigning a DataTable, however, if you try to do that with a main report and more than ONE sub-report, it fails with likely unrelated error messages (not yet implemented).
    I took one of my reports and deleted all sub-reports. Assigned a DataTable at runtime - works fine. Added one sub-report that has a single field (picture) and loaded at runtime with a DataTable. No problem.
    Removed that subreport and added another subreport that has a single text field. All good.
    Now: having both sub-reports and having both subreports loaded from a DataTable fails. It works if one of the datasets is empty. It also works with 2 sub-reports returning text into their single field.
    The DataTables are populated from the exact same stored procedures (and data source) that are embedded in the report from the design (CR XI) - essentially this should be a swap from internal to external fetch with no consequences.
    I tried assigning using subDocument.SetDataSource and subDocument.Databas.Tables[0].SetDataSource  - no difference.
    The background of this: all my reports work just fine using VBA (Access), but that app will be retired and replaced by something C# based. In the meantime, the same report file has to work with both engines.
    If I cannot get the DataTable assignment for sub-reports to work, there is a plan-b type possibility: replacing the stored procedure for some sub-reports at runtime - which works using SubReport.Database.Tables[0].Location.= "newSPName" as long as the new sp has no parameters like the old one.
    The problem is that the new procedure has 2 parameters and I did not find a way to add them to the parameters collection (not allowed in sub-reports)
    Anything that comes to your mind ?
    Any help will be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Rolf

  • Bc4j.xcfg, database connections and deploying ADF apps to oc4j

    I'm trying to understand how to enable custom database connections on a JDeveloper ADF application deployed to a stand-alone instance of OC4J.
    All entity objects were created as ADF Business Components.
    I looks like the db connection information used by the application is stored in a file named "bc4j.xcfg".
    How would I change the database connection information between different environments, changing the server, port and password information from an OC4J instance?
    I'd like to use an OC4J defined data-sources.xml file, but am looking for the simplest approach for now.

    Tomato tomaato, call it what you will, we now have to spend time (money) figuring out how to change from using the recommended use of a "connection" from Oracle tutorials and in Oracle Press books.
    Plus, neither I nor our client can get JDeveloper ADF 10.1.3 to work on OAS 10.1.2.
    Oracle has been of little help, other than stating to follow documentation. We followed the documentation at least a dozen times and on three different install of OAS 10.1.2.
    Why doesn't JDeveloper have a check-box or button that reconfigures the application to run on 10.1.2 (J2EE 1.3), there is a check-box to change JDK versions (1.4)? This is suspect to me.
    We are going to be speaking with the client this week, and have to state the ADF application works, but NOT on OAS 10.1.2.
    Does ADF work on OAS 10.1.3, absolutely, but the client is in 10.1.2 and can not upgrade at this time.
    I've read in blogs where lots of developers have the same issues without resolution and Oracle should just come out and state that 10.1.3 does not work on 10.1.2.
    So my experience has been a mixed bag with ADF, both in terms of the software and customer support from Oracle.

    Hi Satish
    It could be an issue with the driver.
    You can try with the OLEDB n Oracle native connection to test if the issue persists.
    Also you can refer to the [Troubleshooting Database Connectivity for Crystal Reports|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d05b3bb7-0f28-2c10-4ea3-84dbdc4e414e&overridelayout=true]

  • How can I get Connection(Database Connection)on my backing bean

    hello guys!
    How can I get the Database Connection on my managed bean?
    I want to use this connection for my reports.
    thanks a lot!
    alvin

    Alvin,
    You can access the data provider through ADF the binding. The data provider represents the business service you use. Once you have a handle to this you can get the connection.
    You don't mention the business service, so I cannot help you more than this. If it is ADF BC, have a look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/toc.htm and the stored procedure section. Steve Muench explains a trick to access the "real" JDBC connect used by ADF BC

    I want to fetch some table data in Oracle_2 from Oracle_1 database Stored procedure/functions through query staments and cursors. How to establish the Oracle_1 DB connection in Oracle_2 DB stored procedure/function. Is it possible?
    It's not the same how you implement the programs in java or .Net to create DB connection. It's different over here. You have use the DataBase Links in order to make to connection with another DB and use that Link in the stored procedure or function where ever its necessary as per your requirement.

    HELP ME!

    Hello,
    I used our sample Xtreme.mdb to test this and it works for me. I am using RAS to make the connection though.
    Here's the code on how:

  • Database Connection Error: Cannot obtain error message from the server

    I have a SQL statement that wants to add a temp table to the database.   The SQL statement works fine but when I try to add it via 'Add Command' feature in Crystal XI R2, I get the following error message:
    Database Connection Error: Cannot obtain error message from the server
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Zack H.

    Hi Raghavendra,
    I am using this in the 'Add Command' feature but I get the error message displayed in the subject line:
    CREATE TABLE #TibetanYaks(
    YakID char(4),
    YakName char(20) )
    INSERT INTO #TibetanYaks (YakID, YakName)
    SELECT  LastName, FirstName
    FROM      Employee
    WHERE      EmployeeID between '2000' and '3000'
    I haven't tried to add this as a stored procedure but I imagine it will work as I have no problems yet with stored procedures.  I simply want to be able to use temporary tables for the sole purpose of that session and not creating anything static in the database.
    By the way, even though I get the error message, when I look on the backend database, I see that the temporary table was successfully created...its just not brought across correctly in Crystal.
    Any ideas?
    Zack H.

  • Changing Database connection on webservice deployment

    Hi All,
    I am having a problem changing the Database connection when deploying a PL/SQL generated webservice.
    What I have done is to use the WebService wizard to create a webservice based on a database Pl/SQL procedure. During this you have to specify the database connection (which initially is our dev server).
    When I come to deploy the service to our production platform I want to change the database descriptor name to point to an existing App Server data source.
    This is the problem - the Database Connection information is protected in the properties of the webservice - which means I cannot deploy to our production platform with the connection names I need.
    I can change the names of the Connections defined in the Connections tab - but then I cannot access the webservice in JDev.
    Everytime I deploy to our production platform I keep getting the development data sources created.
    Basically I need to develop a PL/SQL webservice using a Development connection (with a unique connection name), and then deploy to a production application server (10g AS) with a different connection name that points at our production env.
    I could create generic names, but that then would make my development system very confusing with the potential of messing up the production platform.
    Anyone got any ideas????
    Thanks and Regards
    Neil

    When you deploy the web service to the app server, if the connection to the other database is available from JDev at deployment time, the data sources xml file should be set up correctly with the db connection info. Otherwise this will have to be modified by hand on the app server to contain the connection details for the other DB.
    There are 3 files that will also have to be hand modified to reflect the different db connection details. 2 deployment descriptors, web.xml and oracle-webservices.xml which have references to the connection's jndi name, and also one of the JPublisher generated classes (the one whose name ends in 'Base') also has references to the jndi name (to look up the connection from the data source file) which will have to be modified, recompiled and redeployed.
    The simplest way to change the connection would actually be to leave everything alone and just modify the data sources xml file on the server such that the same jndi lookup points to a new connection, but it looks like the customer wants to change the name as well.
    An alternative to all this hand editing is to regenerate the service against the producion DB connection, test & then deploy the service.

  • How to use sql request with Jdev and database connection

    Hello,
    I have a login page with simple username and password inputsecret text and a button validate! I would like, when the user click on the validate button, to check in the database that the user and password matches. I've done the "Method BIndind..." with the commandButton_action and the database connection works fine.
    How can I use an already existing procedure, say authenticate, wich is stored in the database to authenticate my user ?
    Do I have to create a jdbc connection in java even if I've done the connection with the "create new database connection" wizard ?
    String s1 = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@address:1521:ORCL";
    System.out.println( "Connecting with: " );
    System.out.println( s1 );
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver());
    this.conn = DriverManager.getConnection( s1,"user","pass");
    thanks for your help

    Creating a connection to the DB in JDeveloper doesn't mean that your application is now connected to the DB - so yes you do need to create a connection to the database using JDBC.
    One note - if you are trying to do a database user authentication the following is probably the better way to go about it:
