  • Adobe Flash CS6 corrupted the .fla file that I made. Can someone from Adobe support recover my file?

I work on a brandnew Macbook pro with lot's of HD and memory, Yosemite version.
I bought Flash CS6 for 700 dollars. It hangs, it unexpectedly quits, but worse, it  corrupts the file i have been working on for an entire day. It makes it 981kb and then says it fails to open it.
I want to know where can I get some customer service from Adobe. I paid for this software and I want to be able to send a ticket to the the support so they can figure out what went wrong and if they can recover my file. The file didn't even have 70 frames yet. But each frame had a drawings with pencil that are very detailed. So hence my frustration

    1.  periodically save your fla file with an appended version number so that never happens to you again.  eg, yourproject_01.fla, yourproject_02.fla etc.  that policy (saving frequently with appended version numbers) is a good idea with all software, adobe or otherwise.
    2.  to prevent future crashes/hangs, reset your flash pro preferences, Re-create preferences.
    3.  don't force the termination of a flash save unless you have little to lose.  you should allow, at least, 2 minutes or you're likely to corrupt your fla by doing that.
    4.  you may be able to recover your fla by renaming it to a rar and using winrar to repair it.  that's a long shot but occasionally works.
    5.  adobe support's not likely to offer you much help, but if you want to try contact adobe support by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

  • Error opening fla file.

    Hi,
I am a relative newcomer to the world of Flash, so I apologize if this issue is a bit mindless for the veterans.
I am working with Flash CS6 on a Macbook Pro and recently encountered a problem when trying to open a file. An error message pops up, saying 'there was an error opening the file...'. No further details are available.
Looking at the file information, there is still data there, as the size is about 300MB.
I've tried some amateur sleuthing online for a solution, mostly involving changing the .fla extentsion to .rar and repairing the file that way, but nothing I have tried has resolved the issue.
Am I essentially out of luck, or is there a reliable solution for this kind of problem?
    Thanks for any help!
    Boots

Wow, thanks for such a quick reply, kglad.
I had actually previously zipped and unzipped the file and ended up with a folder full of stuff that I didn't know what to do with. Again, this is where my amateur understanding comes into play.
In the unzipped folder, there are 'bin', 'library' and 'meta-inf' folders, as well as a 'DOMDocument.xml' file, a 'MobileSettings.xml' file, a 'PublishSettings.xml' file and finally a file called 'mimetype'.
Should I be encouraged by this?
I'm pretty clueless at this point about how I might proceed from here. I see that the 'library' folder contains all the sound files for the project (it's a soundboard), but is there a way to go from this point to recovering the project as it was before this issue came up? Or am I stuck with starting the project all over gain?
    Thanks again for the help!

  • Flash CS5 crashing when opening fla file

Flash is immediately crashing when I try to open an fla file created by a student. She has two copies of the file; neither will open. I'm hoping she hasn't lost all her work. The crash is happening on more than one machine. Does anyone know of any way to get the file opened?
    Tery

If it's a Flash CS5 or CS5.5 file, you can try to rename the file's extension to .zip, and investigate the XML files inside.
If you're sure it's in CS5+ format but it can't open as a ZIP file, try repairing it with recovery tools for ZIP files.
It'll need quite a lot of detective work, but the file being saved as zipped XML means it's possible to recover faulty files. This trick works for any format that's XML-based - recent versions of Office files, Audition CS5.5 SESX, etc.

  • Flash fla files corrupted by CVS

    Hi,
I have saved my Flash fla files with Eclipse CVS and some where on the way, I set their ASCII\BINARY value to ASCII and now my files are totally corrupted.
Does anyone know of a way to fix fla files that were saved as ASCII in CVS?
    Thanks for your help.

Well, I'm not quite sure what kind of cards am I using. The SD card is a common one, one of those you use for digital cameras. It's a 2GB SanDisk, quite new. The flash drive is an 8GB Data Traveler...
And, yes - the AVIs are quite big (biggest one is around 700MB, and they're about 5 or 6 with 500MB)
Anyway, I'm totally sure the files are extremely corrupted because I didn't save them on a HD... I've tried in VLC, DivX... They simply wont open the files (I mean, I don't get soundless blank screens or other kind of synthom you usually read in AVI help threads). I even went to my university's media lab and one of the teachers told me that I did wrong when I transferred the files directly from the SD card to the flash drive, without saving them on a hard disk first.
The camera isn't the cause of the problems, because yesterday I've made new videos with it and I emptyed the SD card directly to my own Mac with no problems on those AVIs at all.
In addition to all this, the flash drive presented life signs at the media lab's iMac -- the archive containing the AVI files turned unrecognizable (had that icon like a black card with green "exec" letters); when we opened it on a Windows, a lot of archives appeared and their names were in constant change.
Worst of all is that I've already format the SD card twice ^_^" (I didn't know the AVIs were corrupted - I just thought I needed QT Pro). All my hopes are relying on the flash drive.
Today I've tried recovering the flash drive's files with Data Rescue and StellarPhoenix software (all of them very limited demos) but it was all useless.
Sorry for the word labyrinth; thanks for your help..

  • FLA file is screwed up.

Okay so I'm making an animation that is 1280x720, 30 fps, and it was to be exported as a jpeg sequence so there's not swf file. Out of nowhere Flash crashes and now whenever I reopen the Timeline will not appear, it's just blank, All I see is the frame number, frame rate, and the seconds as if the marker was on frame one and the scroll bar. Other than that no timeline. I can still access the library. If I try to create a new scene the program crashes. If I try to export as a swf, says there's not frame to export from or something along those lines.
Is there any way to recover my animation? The way I animated I may be able to recreated it with the library in a new file, but it would be a huge hassle. Thanks.

First, try using Save and Compact.  This eliminates the historical information from the file.  If you added and deleted content, Flash still likes to hang on to the memories of it, so using Save and Compact is a brainwashing process.
If you don't realize much in the way of savings doing that, you may want to try recreating the file via copying the timeline into a new file.
Also, if you have unused stuff in the library, getting rid of it will trim the file size down as well.
While the swf file will normally reflect the fileweight of the content you have in it, the fla will always be larger than life, but the 103 MB is larger than that, so you are likely just carrying alot of excess baggage.

  • After Mavericks update, i am not able to save flash files (fla) to the server.

After installing OS X Mavericks, i am no longer able to (resave) any flash files (.fla) to any of our servers or local storage devices.
When saving the file the first time all seems fine, trying to save the same file again results in the error message bellow.
The error message : "Unable to save the documents as '/volumes/content/users/brian/test.fla' Please try saving to a different filename or ta different location"
Saving a file locally doesn't give me these problems.
Im currently running Flash CC 13.0.1.808 on a iMac.

    Hi,
The December 2013 update(13.1.0.226) already resolved the buzzing sound issue on Maverics. Please update your Flash CC for that fix.
Save issue is under investigation. While this issue is being fixed, you can recover the corrupted files by following the below steps
    1. Change the file extension of your corrupted fla to zip eg: corrupt.fla to corrupt.zip
    2. Extract the zip file
    3. Open the xfl file from the extracted folder in Flash CC(you will see the file is of up to date and non-corrupted)
    Other trivial work-arounds:
    1. Save your file as .xfl(uncompressed fla) instead of .fla
    2. Connect your shared location via afp protocol on Mac 10.9 whereever-possible
    3. Use Mac 10.8 or lower versions if-possible
    Thanks!

  • Flash crashed and now I cannot open my fla file.

I was working on a final project for school and Flash tried to auto save. It said it couldn't auto save and asked me to save a different way. When I clicked file to save as to the desktop it just crashed. I had made one change at this point and didn't care if I lost progress, but when I went to open the file it said it couldn't be opened.
I need to recover this file because I only have a much earlier version saved on my computer at home and this project is due in a week. Please help me!! I am using CS6 btw on a mac if it makes a difference.

This is a very well known issue. I suggest you look in these existing threads and follow some of their suggestions. Ultimately, unless the repair archive method works, it's probably not able to be recovered. Saving iterations of Flash files is workflow you should get used to (File.fla, File_v2.fla, File_v3.fla, etc).
Try saving your file (once you get some working version) to an XFL file. This is an easier format to manage if you have a repository (SVN, git, etc).

  • Recovering file?

I was working on a flash animation and allmosssttt had it
complete... Been working on it non stop for about an hour and a
half. But of course, my stupidity gets me every now and then - and
I didnt save it at all. Right when I was going to, Flash
"encountered an error" and had to close. Is there any way at all I
    can recover my lost flash?
    Thanks in advanced,
    Koori.

    start over.
Awh, sorry. Anyway, I have had to start over before and the
2nd version is always better than the first one.
This time when you open Flash, the first thing to do is to
put file, Save As... and put it in a special folder just for your
    Flash
projects. Name it with a number like this..
    animation1.fla
Work on it for awhile then save it. The go and save again as
    animation2.fla
Change the name of it every hour or so. That way you will
never lose more than an hour's work. It's something I learned to do
    over
the years after losing too many hours from file crashes and
hard drive malfunctions and computer viruses. Really important
    business
stuff gets saved onto a thumb drive that's plugged into a USB
port. Then it's transferred at the end of the day to another
    computer
as a backup. I know it's no consolation but that's how most
of us learn this stuff.. through bad experiences like you just had.

  • CS5, corrupted .fla file

I recently got Flash CS5 a couple days ago. I moved a large .fla file that I'd been working on in Flash 8 into CS5 yesterday and I've been working smoothly with it since then. (I converted it to CS5 format of course)
Suddenly, today, CS5 crashed when I tried to copy/paste a symbol into another file's library. The file I had been working in is now corrupted, since CS5 crashes every time I try to open that file.
I have been working with flash (Flash 8 professional) for four years, and I have never once experienced anything like this. Crashes, sure - but flash8 never corrupted an fla file. Four years, no problems. Two days with CS5 and all of my work in the program is down the drain.
This is very frustrating. Is there anything I can do to save my .fla file, or is this something that I just have to learn to work around?
    Thank you for help/suggestions.

If you have any kind of backup arranged for your machine, see about restoring the file.  If you don't have any kind of backup, then for the future make it a practice to save older versions as backup on a somewhat regular basis.
When you start editing files try to make it a habit to save new copies rather than sacving over older files.
When you have files that involve customers, value, or extensive effort, you should keep multiple copies on different media/storage devices.  Every so often I save files and whatnot to dvd data disks.
As far as recovering the file that keeps crashing, try entering some terms like "restore corrupted file" in the top of the forum where it says Ask a Question and see if any results come up that lead to some help.  I remember someone recently talking about renaming files or some such thing and opening them, though you'd need to find it to try it properly.

  • Panic - Restored .fla´s does´nt open

I´m in a bit of a panic here...
Does anyone know of a Recovery Tool that actually works with
    .fla´s???
    Yesterday I deleted a number of .fla-files.
Yes, I know, it was my mistake!!!.
Now I´ve tried several software recovering files deleted
    by accident.
But none of them restores .fla-files so I can open them in
    Flash 8
    File-icon is OK
    File-information is OK
    Files size is OK
But when I try to launch the file....
Unexpected File Format is the message.
I tried to open in an older version of Flash with the same
    result.
    Running Windows 2000
    Flash 8 Professional
    zenkert

Ah, I tried the one you sent, but it failed...
I made a manifest file called mainClass.txt with these contents (including pressing enter after)
    Main-Class: tictactoe
then I used the command prompt to do this..
    jar cvfm classes.jar mainClass.txt *
classes.jar was the jar I wanted (which was created) and mainClass.txt was the manifest file
Sadly, the thing will still not run, and it is driving me insane!!!!
    anyone have any comments......?

  • HT1688 I have a damaged I-Phone and I need the contents of my calendar off of it. I did not have Mobile me at the time.  Can I swap out the sim card from the broken phone to a new phone and recover this calendar?

I have an older I-Phone (3G) that for some reason the body of the phone has split in two.  This phone was a business phone and it had a lot of important information on it. I have a second phone that is also a 3G.  On the broken phone there is a lot of important information that I need in my calendar. Im not worried about anything else but the calendar.  I didn't have the Mobile Me account at that time or I would be having this problem. Does anybody know if I can ust switch out the sim cards. I just need to recover the old calendar, so im hoping that the calendar will transfer when I switch the sim card into the good 3G. If that doesn't work does anybody know of anyway that I can retrieve this information off of this phone?

Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone.  If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events.  Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.
