Red background

why are some pictures shown in finder and other apps with red/pink background?

If you open that pic in say Preview, does it still show red//pinkish?
Long shot, but...
Go to System Preferences > Universal Access and down in the Display: section make sure that the Enhance contrast: slider is all the way to left to Normal, or more to the right for less Contrast.
Can you post that original picture it by itself so I can inspect it, like not a screen shot of it?

How to edit red background color of Informal Newsletter templates in pages

How do I edit the color of the red background in the Informal Newsletter template? I've been able to edit sections within but the background red section appears to remain locked. Any help is much appreciated!

You are in Pages '09, always useful to know.
Click on the red background > Menu > Arrange > Unlock
It is an image fill, you will have to replace the image with something else.

Printing with red background

Hi,
I have adobe acrobat 8.1, and it is printing everything (logos, pictures, etc) with a red background. It seems like several people have encountered this before, and the only solution that I could understand is to install Acrobat 6.0 for printing purposes. Is there any fix out there that actually solves the problem with acrobat 8.1? I am printing to HP Color Laser Jet 2550.

Then why did they post the 8.1.1 update saying that it should fix the problem when it doesn't? And the Tech Note itself says that, "Acrobat 8 has a problem" as if to say that it IS an issue for Adobe to resolve or at least provide a workaround for, which they did.
Anyway...
Solution #2 does not work in this case because we are dealing with Adobe Reader and not Acrobat Pro. The Tech Note specifically says that #2 is for Pro only. However I checked anyway to see if the option is available and it is not.
That rules out Solutions #1, #2 and #4. I have tried Solution #3 and that DOES work. So that is at least something.
I looked for the latest HP drivers for the HP Color LaserJet 2820 and the newest Tiger drivers are from July 31st 2006 (v8.1). I tried those and they did not work. There is also a Leopard driver v8.2 from March 17th, 2008. I downloaded and installed the v8.2 Leo update, and that seems to fix the issue at least for the first print. After that the printer wouldn't even see any jobs sent to it after that. So Leopard users might be ok with just a driver update...
I then downloaded and installed a Firmware update for the HP printer. This brought the firmware version from 2005 up to 2007 (the newest). FYI the Firmware updater app requires a Tiger machine and will not work on Leopard.
After installing the latest firmware, I printed the pdf test page using Adobe Reader 8.1.2 on Tiger 10.4.11 and it finally worked. So now Tiger users can print again too. I tested from Leopard again and that seems to work fine now too. I am still waiting for feedback from the users to see if any other pdfs give them problems. If they do have more red printing issues I told them to just use the Print as Image option or to print to a different printer.
I think Adobe should update their Tech Note to include Solution #5: Update the firmware of the printer.

Why do all h3 tags have red background on all websites?

Sometime today all of the h3 tags on any page, any website began appearing with a red background color applied. When I check the element with Firebug, it shows the color being applied from file html.css <System>.
Checking same pages in Internet Explorer, Opera, Chrome and Safari -- all in Windows -- this doesn't happen.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

You can also try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.

Fuzzy Dark Objects Against Bright Red Background

For as long as there have been digital cameras (Canon ones, at least, which are the ones I've looked at more images from), there's been a tendency to blur bright red objects - sometimes severely. Ever take an image of a car and notice missing detail in the taillights?
Let me say at this point that Camera Raw seems to do this less than most. Thank you for that, Adobe!
I understand how de-Bayering works, and that with a Bayer pattern camera there's really only half as much information directly measured for the red and blue colors as for green, but what I'm talking about seems if anything only indirectly related to that... Note that you don't really see the same issues with Blue objects. It seems to be more related to the transitions between colors.
Here's a sample image converted in Photoshop... Felt letters on a cloth background. Note that the dark letters look significantly fuzzier against the bright red background than do most of the lighter letters. You might have to blow the image up by clicking on it to see this clearly.
All noise reduction, sharpening, and lens distortion correction were turned off for this conversion.
I thought of the possibility that the dark letters might be just merging more with their shadows more than the lighter ones... But I don't think this is the entire issue here. There are really no shadows visible behind most of the letters near the top, yet the dark ones are still fuzzier than the others at the top as well. Visually things just don't look quite right, and this is an extreme example.
From what I have been able to see, the 2003 process blurs the dark letters very slightly less than the 2010 process does.
I'm not really complaining about ACR's performance in this area - in fact I find I can recover more detail in red objects than with other converters. I'm just curious.
Your thoughts?

Yes, you've made the point well about the need for the green channel to show fine luminance detail, and to be fair the violet letter on red background in the image above is pretty fuzzy (red and blue data, but little green data).
I've always also suspected, however (and you touched on it with your comment about selective sharpening), is that the red channel may be more noisy and subject to more noise reduction - in Canon cameras at least - because the light levels reaching the red-filtered photosites are somewhat suppressed by the Antialiasing/IR suppression filter (which is blue-green colored), and thus the measurements must already be boosted to compensate.

Compund path or white text ona red background with a drop shadow

I have had business cards printed before with white text on a red background & the white wasn't 'punched out' (compound path) of the red so the white didn't print - the solution I was given was to create a compund path in illustrator before saving the PDF to punch the white out of the red & that worked fine ...
I now have dilema in that we want to get some flyers printed that have red starburst with white text over them but they also have a drop shadow behind the red star burst so if I punch the white text out of the startburst the drop shadow then appears through the starburst & the text is no longer white it is the drop shadow gradient from the background - i do not know how to get around this???

As long as your white text isn't set to overprint, you should be fine. Just place your text in front of your starburst and look at your attributes panel to make sure that overprint fill and overprint stroke are not checked.
I'll bet if you go back and look at the file that gave you trouble in the past, overprint fill is checked.

Ffu in a red background, appearing in the taskbar for a short time, is this Firefox updating?

sometimes for a very short time three letters: Ffu on a red background appear in the taskbar. Does this have something to do with firefox updating? I just noticed that new symbol next to my other icons and it disappears very quickly.

Its actually ffd your seeing, probably only pops up when you use vlc mediaplayer or another offbrand media player, its just saying theres some sort of error when reading a codec, i actually get it constantly, dont worry tho its not a virus.

Iphone shows up with red background. what's wrong?

I have no idea what happened. One minute it was working fine and then all of the sudden it showed up with a red background. It is odd because everything really works normally(other then turning of randomly) but there is a red background. Any idea what's wrong?

First time I recall seeing a report like this here.
I suggest doing a Restore with iTunes. Be sure to sync your iPhone immediately before restoring to update your iPhone's backup if needed.
If no change after a Restore, I suggest calling AppleCare (800) 694-7466, or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

Entering Type/Copy - Red Background/White Type

I don't understand. I'm getting a red background when entering type/copy in my photoshop file. See below.
No matter what I do I can't seem to get rid of the red background/layer. In addition, when I do add copy it only can add it in white. When I try to change the color to black. It says I can't do this because of a program error. When I exit it asks to commit to a layer or not.
What am I doing wrong. It was not doing this before while building this file.

Looks like you're in an adjustment layer.
What happens if you use ESC key? Or simply use History panel to back out of whatever you did.

Weird red background

Hello,
I have set up a web site using templates developed in
dreamweaver and sent out connections keys to 2 people. When they
pull the pages up in Contribute to edit the editable regions, the
text are has this awful red background everywhere, but it is just
the main content area, no other editable region has this red
background. The people working on the pages would really like to
get rid of it but I can't figure out how...
Can someone help? Did I set somekind of preference in the
connection key? I cannot find anyway to change this either through
administration in Dreamweaver or on their local versions of
contribute...

You might have an error in the css code or wherever you
specified background color. Browsers are more forgiving of errors
than edit mode is. Check the color specification and see if the
syntax is correct.

Need Red background with white lettering?

I'm trying to create a document A4 with a complete RED background - no margins etc just as a borderless print - i then want to print some large text onto the RED background in White text.
I cannot for the life of me find out how to do it - any ideas please

Place a rectangular object onto your document, and size it the way you'd like. Open the Inspector and choose the Graphic tab. Change the color to the shade of red you like. Select the Text tab in the Inspector, click in the object with your mouse and type your text. Finally, change the color of your text to white

CP 7 Red Background

I've got graphics that are disappearing and being replaced by a red background, which isn't even within the file. What could be causing this issue in the output? We are running from a basic web site. Thoughts???

Check the slide quality, it should Optimized (normally default for CP7) or High.
Uncheck all compression settings in Preferences, Project, SWF Size and Quality.
When publishing: check the option 'Force republish...'

All of my links on websites show up with a dark red background which makes it difficult to read. why?

Where ever a link shows on any website, the background of the link is red and the text is blue. It's difficult to make out the text. How can I change the background to white like it is on all other browsers.

If the background of links is red then that is probably caused by an extension like SEO or SearchStatus that has the option set to highlight noFollow links.<br />
You can check the options of such an extension.
You can click the icon on the Status bar to open the SearchStatus options and un-tick "Highlight NoFollow Links"<br />

Red Background Squares When printing from Acrobat 8.1.2 (Leopard)

We are 5 to use Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 in the office on Mac OS10.5. When we print to HP Laserjet from Acrobat, we get red square backgrounds on items in the page. When printed from Preview, or older Acrobat, this does not happen. HP does not have a clue.

Photo rendering issue: Yellow Caution with red background & star

In FCP X 10.0.1
When I changed the playback settings in preference to original media from proxy, the program rendered from 24 hours. The edit is about 15 minutes long. I've used many hi-res photos from iPhoto - maybe 100. The photos were taken over a weekend using the same camera and quality... there about 5 mb each... After the day long render, about 15 photos have not rendered.. there is a orange line in the timeline above the photo. The image has been replaced by a red frame with star and orange triangle.
I've found the original photo in the event browers which is fine. I can drop and replace the photo on to the unrender photo, but this doesn't retain the settings and animation created. Thus, i would have to reedit these sections...
I know working with hi-res files increase rendering times, but I had to used them at that quailty becuase some files were increased by 300%. I don't want to recreated the sequence... as the proxy version of the piece has been approved.
I have a year old 27" iMac, 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3, ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB
Is there an upgrade to ram or graphics card i need?

Photos are RAW files in iPhoto.. I guess a little warning before using them would help like with the warning you get in Motion.. this is a video program cabalble of handling larger video files... but i'm not an software engineer...
The frame size is... opps... 4096x2800 and 16 mbs... i guess too big.. but what are the restrictions.. would be nice to know in advance...
However, 90% of the raw photos used at the above pixel sized worked great... rendering too 24 hrs so I wouldnt' do it again this way... Still, not sure why a handful got kicked out... further, when the project was in proxy media mode.. working with the raw photos was seamless... work great infact.. loved the option to blow up 500% percent without loosing image quality... thats a feature I'm glad this has... .
I think it's a mistake that when replacing media, all the files parameters are lost. It would be an easy fix to replace the problem photos with lower res versions, but now I've got to redo all the animations... Unless there's a techniques to preserve the animation parameters...
