Red Giant Colorsuite II confict with PP7

This is the first program I've Color Corected with Colorista and MBL & after putting finishing touches on an hour program Friday, I shut down for the night.  When I restarted Sat morning, Premier CC crashed and I couldn't get it to open my finished show project.  Tried opening two different autosaves of same project with no success, even got one off my time machine and it too wouldn't open.
The only thing that would allow me to open the project was to uninstall the Color suite.  The project opens fine without Colorsuite II installed.  I reinstalled Colorsuite II, project would not open, so I uninstalled again and now must go through an hour show for color correction using the standard PP color correction tools.
Has anyone run into this before?  Is there a solution other than that I've tried?  I really like the controls and options I get in Colorista II and MBL.
thx...jw

Mine were working fine too, until I shut down.  Walt Biscardi opined that it was MLB that was causing the problem because he has had a lot of grief with MBL in PP 7.  I disabled everything but Colorista II and was able to open my project which had retained my previous Colorista II work and I'm able to use it which makes me very happy.
MBL will not play in this project.  I'm starting another program on Tuesday and will try MBL again, but I think there's a bug in MBL, particularly since you can't use it on an adjustment layer now, or at least many with a MAC cannot.
I saw a work around for Windows on the MBL forum, but when I tried a similar workaround for Mac it didn't work.  I really like the MBL program, it's quick, powerful & easy, so hopefully they'll have an update soon.
Have you been using MBL on long form programs?  All of mine are 1 hr television shows, so i have no experience with MBL in shorter for programs.  I think Walter's experience is more in the long form as well.
thx..jw

  • Red Giant Denoiser II not working with certain clips

    HI all,
I have a 25 minute wedding video that I have been unsuccessfully trying to export and sign off on nfor the last week and the problem seems to lie with Denoiser II.  There were some clips that were corrupted by me using Denoiser on them so I had to take the effect off.  However I am also having a problem in that the denoiser effects seems to 'flicker' during clips - ie it works for a second, then stops so noise appears, then works again for a second, then stops etc etc.  The footage was shot on a dslr, 24fps.  I shot a short film with the same clips and used denoiser a few weeks previously with no problems.  The only thing that differs is the amount of other effects I am using with the footage - Colorista II, Mojo and Magic Bullet Looks.  Could the problem be that I have too many effects running?
I can't view my footage in Premiere as my computer can't play it due to the effects I have on it so can't comment on whether the problem is happening in playback and export, or just when i export
I have tried exporting in h.264, mpeg etc. I have also tried exporting through Encoder rather than Premiere, again with no difference and am getting so frustrated.
Im on Premiere Pro cc and Windows 8
Any advice would be much appreciated
    Thanks!
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
Make sure you have installed the most recent version of that plug-in. You might also want to contact Red Giant Support: http://www.redgiant.com/support/

  • Does FCE 4 work with the red giant software?

Wondering if the new FCE4 will work with red giant software? prior to it's release it only worked with FCP.
if not what company would anyone recommend for similar film effects? bleach, cool blue, etc.
    thanks

not a bad idea.. you do mean a red giant demo, i assume. however - I have a g5 non pentium (prior to isight) (imac) and i am told that i couldn't run the new FCE4 with that. so it isnt installed yet.
i think today i may purchase a new 24 in imac today... they are 100.00 off online!
    thanks
    i'll try the demo.

    Hello there,
i've got the following Problem: I am having Premiere CC and used the Red Giant Plug-In Denoiser II on my last project, when i import this project to the Media Encoder and select Quicktime for output, the Media Encoder won't render the clip with this Plug-In. i always get the original files out, without the denoiser.
    thx

  • Red Giant Plug-ins won't load in Premiere Pro CC

I have been unable to get certain Red Giant plug-ins (frames and denoiser 2) to show up in Premiere Pro CC. Others, like LUT buddy and Looks work fine. I have tried countless things with the people at Red Giant, but we can't seem to figure it out. Anyone???

was able to finally figure it out with the help of Wenzel - an extremely courteous tech from Ueberschall - who was able to show me the couple of little tweaks I'd needed in order to get everything up & running - but thanks to anyone else who would have answered me -

  • Red Giant's DeNoiser II in Premiere CS6?

I usually use Neat Video but I do not own the Premiere version so I thought I'd give Red Giant's noise reduction a try.  I'm impressed with the quality but find that with a few instances of the plugin on clips Premiere slows so much that just making changes to the plugin settings is not very functional without long pauses.  I tested the Neat video limited version and it does not have this problem.  Am I doing someting wrong?  I have an i7, 12gb of ram and a 570 card. Other Red Giant plugins like Colorista and Looks work fine for me.
    Thanks,  Marc

I played around with it some more and read about other people having the same issues.  It's slow as molasses not just during rendering but even when trying to make adjustments or turn the effect on and off.  I ended up buying a Neat Video license for Premiere which seems to work with no problems.

  • Has anyone tried Red Giant Denoiser II in Compressor?

    Hi
I hope you can help me out. I've started using denoiser II and find it works great in FCP, although it does slow it down a bit. The issue I'm having is in compressor for a one and half hour project, it might take 6-7 hours to encode but when I've used denoiser II on 12 mins of that 1hr and half film, it has increased the encode time to over 27hours? (still encoding so not sure how long it is going to take). Have I done something wrong? Or why is it taking so long to encode? Can anyone help?
All clips are Apple pro res442 1080HD. I use an imac, OSx 10.6.8
    Many thanks
    Kaylee

    Hi Russ
Yes, all that's right. Sorry, didn't give enough information. It's the Red giant Magic Bullet denoiser plug in which I bought and downloaded to my FCP a couple of days ago. I was editing a project which had about 12 mins of noisey footage at the end. All the clips are apple prores 422 and I send it to compressor from FCP in drop down menu send to> compressor.
In compressor I use 'DVD best quality 90 mins', which i use as standard and it finished last night after taking around 33 and a half hours to turn into the video and audio files I then put into DVD studio pro. It usually takes me about 6 hours or so for this paticular process so I'm wondering if I've done something wrong with this plug-in? Or if anyone has used denoiser II and gone through this process before?
I use a Mac OSX version 10.6.8. Memory is 8GB. The processor is 3.06 Ghz Intel core 2 duo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

  • Red Giant Trapcode plugins no longer work after updating to Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (v8.1)

I'm not sure why but after updating Premiere Pro CC to 2014.1 none of my previously installed Trapcode plugins work. I tried uninstalling Trapcode and then re-installing the latest Trapcode update (12.1.6) but it didn't fix the problem. I'm also running Windows 8.1.
I checked the plugin loading log file (\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\8.0\Plugin Loading.log) and noticed all the Trapcode plugins had the message "The plugin is marked as Ignore, so it will not be loaded."

First ... have you checked that these are all updated to work with the CC versions? I'd check with the makers of each plugin, the software has MANY differences.
Next ... if say you removed all but one, do any of them work? It might be worthwhile to remove them from the folder, then add one by one until you find one that is crashing things. That would at least get you part way forward.
And ... you might list which ones you have, in what versions. Folks around here might be able to help just seeing that.

  • Red Giant Looks not showing preview on Premiere Pro CC ?

We used to use the Looks on Premiere Pro CS6 since last year and it was the best color grading tool for us.
Now we just got the update for CC and installed.
Looks installed and showing on effects panel. But the main thing is missing!
THE PREVIEW to apply the looks.
Earlier it used to show the preview of video cursor and it was easy to apply from that preview.
But now the preview is missing.
    See this screenshot,

    Am I missing something ?

Have you checked out Red Giant support?

  • CODEC Support - Red Giant Bullet-Proof Understanding Ingest-Export Sequence Choices?

I shoot with a Canon EOS C100 that records AVCHD internally. I also use a Ninja Blade to record DNxHD at 220 Mps. I find no built-in support for either of these formats in Bullet Proof and Premiere Pro. Is there a reason for that?
I'm trying to understand why the default export is MJPEG. For some reason, I thought that was an old codec no longer used. And it takes forever for Bullet Proof to export it. I have a very fast computer with an X99 2011 v3 chipset and 64 GB RAM, an Areca 12G RAID controller with a 16TB RAID 5 attached. And SSD for backup storage.
I don't mind editing MJPEG. I just don't know if it is the best I could do, or if it's better to edit the original AVCHD. In other words, If I ingest AVCHD footage, is it best to transcode it to MJPEG or another format for editing? Since there is no preset for AVCHD, what then should my edit settings be?
I also still do not understand the reasoning for the complex folder structure coming off the C100. I have read that it is important to leave that structure intact, but I don't see the benefit. Premiere has no use for it, it seems.

with the constant changes to adobe's software, its helpful to know which version we are talking about. alot of people ask questions here with older versions of the software...
if premiere doesn't get your footage right when making a new sequence, then choose one that matches the footage the best by resolution and fps. you can also click on the settings tab, when making a new sequence, to customize it exactly to your needs. you can even save this as a preset that will show in the first tab with the default presets, so if you plan on using these media alot, you wont have to remake the custom sequence each time.
im not exactly sure what all you do in bulletproof, so i hinted at prelude since it does let you transcode to alot more codecs. prelude is an ingest program, you can trim clips (but only if transcoding), add metadata & markers, and have it export to multiple locations as the original and/or in different formats. prelude will only show presets when transcoding, so if you need a different one you will have to open adobe media encoder and make a new preset in there. then it will show in prelude. i like red giants software, but bulletproof export codecs seem rather limited. if the pass-through option just copies and doesn't re-encode then that might work for you.
when exporting from premiere you can also choose a preset close to your media and then customize it to your needs. you can even save it as a preset to recall later. i would stick with dnxhd for export, especially if you plan on bringing it back into premiere. dnxhd is very high quality if choosing its high bitrate format. there are several options for dnxhd 220, one should match your Ninja Blade. these are found under the quicktime format and video codec as avid dnxhd. its also available in mxf format.
adobe's presets try to cover a wide range of cameras and media but can only cover so many, new ones coming out all the time... in sequence settings and export you have full control to customize it to your media and needs.

  • Does Red Giant Software, (Look Suite) use CMYK graphics?

    Hello friends,
I am trying to color correct my FCP project with FCP and Look Suite from Red Giant, but it continues to give me the "out of memory" error when I try to render. Is this because Look Suite is using CMYK graphics? Also does the new upgraded "LOOKS" use it as well?
    Clever Wolf

Not familiar with Look Suite but It's fairly well known that FCP does not like CMYK graphics and will give memory errors and crash when it has to deal with them. So if you know that you are getting CMYK from LS, I'd say that's the problem. It does sound odd though that a program made to run with FCP would work in CMYK.

  • Red Giant Instant HD Ver 6

    Hi Gang
    I'm using FCS 6
Had a copy of Red Giant Instant HD 6 which I haven't tried until now.
Installed it, followed directions to reset the summary tab in Audio Video settings. Brought some 24P footage into a project (ALL of this footage is 720x480 Standard Def).
Tried dragging the HD plug in on clips - seems the plug in, or something causes FC to crash repeatedly. Sometimes can't save a project after render.
Removed the plug in from FC - removed the HD plug in from the clips, and FC appears stable again.
    Have read here;
    [http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/review_instant_hd_douglas.html | http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/review_instant_hd_douglas.html]
Apparently this software is not a good choice when converting all SD footage to HD. Unless I'm missing something, Ken Stone indicates this software works best when incorporating a few converted clips into an HD project.
    Anyone have experience with this?
    Thanx
    Mike
    <div class="mcePaste" id="_mcePaste" style="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;" mcestyle="position: absolute; left: -10000px; top: 0px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;"></div>

Obviously I don't know the finer details of your project or where you intend to display it but here are a few thoughts.
    1. I believe all your footage is 4:3 so there is no way you can get it to the 16:9 apect ratio of HD without either cropping, which would further reduce the effective quality, or stretching which would create distortion.
    2. It is dealing with events in the 1940's when 4:3 was the accepted shape, therefore keeping the project like that will add verisimilitude.
    3. Most TV broadcasts throughout the world are viewed in standard definition and few people are dissatisfied with the quality.
    4. I imagine that the intended audience is composed mainly of the remaining veterans and their families, school/college students and historical societies. These people are not going to be looking for ultra-modern super quality results. They will be more concerned with the poignant and dramatic story that is being told.
So I wouldn't be too concerned about altering it from 4:3 SD, but as I said originally, I don't know exactly what plans you have for it.

  • Nattress, Red Giant or Boris?

I am researching a technical issue for a doc I've been asked to edit. Most of the film will be split screen with 23.98 Canon 5D talking head footage in one half and archival video ripped from DVDs on the other. I am planning to cut in FCP7 in a 23.98 1920 x 1080 Apple Prores 422 sequence. Canon has a plug-in to convert the H.264 to Prores that I've used and liked. Should I rip the DVDs to Prores? What software should I use for that? Should I then try Boris Image Restoration Unit options, Nattress's G Film Converter V2.5 or Red Giant's
Frames as filters in FCP? Will the filters or FCPs interpolation grind my system to a halt because I'm sharing the screen with mixed frame rates?
We have some money to convert the footage, but probably not the budget it would take to fix it in a Teranex or something hardware based, especially for offline editing.
Any workflow advice you have would be appreciated.

I was going to say about the same thing...your call. But I'll add each of these pathways, and there are many if you look at permutations and variables, create a slightly different look and feel. Your decision about filter packages needs to be based on your director's stylistic vision and which will help you achieve that. If you buy one package, you're stuck with its controls and options, however numerous and robust they may be.
One more thing...your director cannot rely on an effects package for anything except effects.

  • Sorry Red Giant, You thread great now in AE

Well to my suprise after doing some testing for a client looking at a system the Red Giant Plugins are threading great. In the past I had said those were not but that is not the case anymore. However PNG is not threading well on export so avoid PNG export when possible. Other Quicktime codecs such as uncomrpessed are threading fine.

I really wish they would hurry up with Colorista update. It's getting annoying having to make so many AE compositions just for color effects. The Looks update helped, but Colorista is more important for me at least.
