Redeploy of exploded enterprise app
Hi people
I`m working with WL6.1sp1 on WinNT and Solaris.
I would like to deploy a web application and several ejbs so that:
1 there is no long copying of files when the server starts.
2 web components can use ejb components.
3 everything (html, jsp, servlets, page beans, ejbs) is hot-updatable without
much trouble.
The closest approximation that I have arrived at is using an exploded enterprise
application containing an exploded web application and several pack ejb jars.
I use auto-deploy.
html, jsp, servlets, and page beans can be updated simply by copying the new files
in the right places.
But how can I update an EJB-jar?
I tried simply replacing the EJB-jar, deploying and undeploying the EJB in the
console, and touching a REDEPLOY file sitting in the root of the enterprise application.
Still, clients see the old ejb!

If you are running in the Development mode, then you should be able to update your ejb by
copying a new jar over it and then by undeploying and deploying through the console. or you
can use the weblogic.deploy utility to hot deploy the ejb.
Touching the REDEPLOY file is meant only for webApps.

Enterprise App on Multiple Devices
Hi,
I'm making my first enterprise app intended for both iPad and iPhone. In terms of distribution is it possible to download on just one device and have it sync to the other on the same Apple ID or is this only for apps distributed through the App Store? I know the user can turn off this setting on their device but i've tested it on mine with this feature enabled and it does not seem to sync.
The app works fine on both devices but i'm just trying to figure out the best means of distribution.
It's currently deployed through a plist file. Is there something that needs to be added there?Not aware of other distribution method other than hosting/deployment through your own server/up in the cloud(dropbox). There's no notion of the Apple ID thing since its a private app

Apple Enterprise App Store & DPS
We are a fairly small ad agency with a large corporate client that has an Apple Enterprise App Store they use to distribute iPad apps to their employees. The marketing rep we work with has asked us to create a brochure along with an iPad app using the same content as the brochure. Our first thought was that this would be a great way for us to dive in and learn the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite and use the Single Edition version for our client app. But, despite our best efforts, we haven't been able to get a definitive answer as to whether or not the DPS Single Edition product can create an app that can be distributed with an Apple Enterprise App Store. An IT guy from our client said they need an .ipa file along with a plist file and the app has to be signed with a certificate that allows distribution of apps without the App Store. No idea what all that means but I need to find out if we can do all of that with DPS Single Edition. Thoughts anyone?
Look, I'm not trying to get frustrated, but no matter how you ask the question, the answer is the same. There is no such thing as an enterprise "store." What there is, is the enterprise developer's program, which allows you create an distribution .ipa file, that you can host somewhere (behnind a username and password security portal) for users to download outside of the store.
Here is the Adobe help article explaining how it's done, but again, it can't be done with Single Edition. The license doesn't allow for it. The best you can do with Single Edition is distribute it to 100 iPads by side loading it after provisioning the iPads via the Apple Developer portal. http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/help/creating-enterprise-signed-viewer-app .html
And sorry for getting frustrated, but I answered your question twice and I really do this every day as part of my career. Your question is one that comes up a lot as it would seem like private distribution would be simple, but because of the licensing restrictions, the enterprise license is the only license that will allow the creatation of an enterprise iOS developer signed application. -
Can I distribute an MP4 video through an enterprise app store?
This would be as a standalone MP4 file, not as part of an app. Which non-app content types can be deployed in-house within an iOS enterprise app store (i.e. PDF files)?

Can you have two separate products appear on Newsstand if they live in the same Enterprise app?
A client has two sets of publications - a weekly and a monthly.
We ideally want to build an Enterprise app that houses all their weekly and monthly publications. Both products need to appear in Newsstand.
Is this possible? If so, how do we partition the app so that the publications are separate? I assume we would need a custom storefront as well.

If you want to create 2 separate apps on Newsstand then you need to build and manage these separately. This requires you to create 2 separate App IDs and build separate apps using App Builder.
Remember that folios are always uploaded into a specific application account. This means you'd have to create a separate application account for the other app and only upload the folios you'd like to see in that app.
Do note that apple will probably give you issues if you offer the exact same content twice, so they'll reject the app. If you do want to differentiate between users only getting the weekly vs monthly issues I'd suggest you use an entitlement server.

Currently I cannot find anything official on enterprise app distribution - only third party information. Has something changed, or is this a documentation glitch? Surely wireless OTA enterprise app distribution is still available via the enterprise developer program?

Pushing Enterprise App to different user or goup
We have setup Mac OS X Server as part of our iPAD deployment through profile manager.
We are trying to push our enterprise app to different user through profile manager,which has different version.
Like Version 1.1 to one user or group and 1.2 to another user or 1.3 to our testing ipad.
For some reason MDM only sees all version as one application and start updating all ipads as soon as we upload the .ipa file.
It erase the old version and keep the new one.AS we want to keep both.
App has same bundle id from our developer team.
Please help is there any work around to overcome this situation?

Difficult ClassLoader problems with multiple deployed enterprise Apps

When multiple instances of an enterprise application are deployed, ClassLoader issues are causing ClassCast Exceptions in the instantiation of Stateless SessionBeans. These ClassCast Exceptions are causing the Stateless Session beans to not be created appropriately/correctly, and in turn there is an InvocationTargetException resulting in an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error (mapped to a custom handler).
The setup is SJSAS2005Q2, JDK 1.5, MySQL 5.0, Linux (RedHat 9, and Debian 3.0/3.1)
Below is a typical example:

}When there is one instance of the App, it works perfectly. When there are two instances, one works perfectly, and the other one will have the above issues with the instantiation of Stateless Session Beans (the broken enterprise app is the one that is NOT loaded or reloaded most recently).
Thinking that the problem may be solved by rearranging or repackaging the software, multiple solutions have been tried. (ClassCast Exceptions such as these are typically the result of helper classes being loaded by one class-loader, then loaded by another, compared or casted, and the two are not equivalent). In this case, though, the software is behaving as though each enterprise app does not have its own class loader hierarchy, which is obviously highly undesirable for the situation at-hand. At any rate, bundling all library classes at the app server classpath level, putting all library classes in each jar, and war, and putting all library classes in the ear/lib directory and using MANIFEST.MF classpath entries to point all ear subcomponents at the library classes - none of these potential solutions has alleviated this problem. In addition, the EJB classes themselves triggering the exception(s) are not helper classes but EJBs that are correctly packaged in their respective EJB-JARS.

Can somebody from the Sun App Server team speak to whether or not this is an Application Server issue? Why should the classloader hierarchy from one enterprise app interfere with any other? Are there known workarounds?

I have pretty much ruled out "artifacts" in the Application Server's Classpath, because we already tried reinstalling the Application Server. It is a freshly downloaded SJSAS 8 2005 Q2 downloaded a few days ago with nothing added to the Server Classpath other than a database driver [${com.sun.aas.installRoot}/mysql/lib/mysql-connector-java-3.1.11-bin.jar added to the server CLASSPATH suffix after the PointBase driver(s)].
Yes, each ear has its own name. Once the two enterprise apps have been created/packaged by the ANT build script (they are the same except for the slight differences in deployment descriptors we discussed earlier), one is renamed and we use the SJSAS administrative console to deploy them, both deploy correctly, without errors and begin listening for connections at their respective context-roots. Each enterprise application has two web-wars, one public/customer facing, and one administrative. The first enterprise app listens on /e (public facing) and /a (administrative) and the second listens on / (public facing) and /admin (administrative).
Also, you are correct; each ear has its own copy of the LookupServiceHelper class. Again, there is nothing shared on the App Server Classpath other than that jdbc driver for mysql.

Hi,
I created the IPA file along with the plist, uploaded to my IIS server. From the iPhone/iPad (version 5.x) i was able to view the html that has the link to download the plist using the itms-services protocol. However, when I click on the Download link nothing happens. I read what others (who had the same issue) have done but it still does not work. I even used Apache as the web server but it still does not solve the problem.
I was able to use TestFlightApp just fine so it's not the device. So, what is so hard about this that I'm not aware of? I'm using Xcode 4.4 and there is no mentioning of providing the .mobileprovision. I selected In-House distribution and the IPA and plist files were the two that was created.

In addition, I have a profile that expired Thursday evening that I cannot renew - so all my iOS devices areunable to connect to our MDM which is affecting all of my employees. This is an extremely un-Apple like issue, much more reminescent of Microsoft. I sincerely hope that something will be done about the Dev portal dependency for provision, profiles and OTA Enterprise App delivery.

Ipad enterprise apps update through Profile Manager
Hello,
we are using OS X Server Profile Manager to push enterprise Apps to an iPad fleet. It is working quite fine for the "initial" download : when a new app is made available to the iPads, it is downloaded without any problem.
The problem arise with "new release" of an existing app. For example, the developper (a web agency) release the 1.1 version of an existing app (in version 1.0).
I upload this new version in the profile manager app library. As it is the same app, it appaers under the same name. As we can't have any details on the enterprise Apps in the Profile Manager app library, I can not be sure that the newly uploaded app has properly replaced the old version. And on the iPads, nothing happens, they do not download the new version.
What am I doing wrong ? Is the Profile Manager supposed to be working to "push" new releases of enterprise app ?

when I try to install the 'GOOD for enterprise" app, I am getting error 0x100001 during retireve settings step. I followed the step of reloading the OS to fix this as suggested in another thread but even after that I have the same problem. Please help.

We've been producing Enterprise Apps for a while now. Suddenly however, the viewer apps generated from DPS App Builder won't sideload onto iPads.
We see them in iTunes, and set them to install, but when they sync nothing happens.
We are using a new machine to download the apps, which appear to be signed all OK, and are now a bit mystified on why they refuse to Sync.
Can you help, or offer any tips on what to check?

I have an app running on Samsung Android Devices
I have two version 103 and 110
I can deploy and install without any prompt or click version 103 by using Application policy. I just Selecten "required"
Then I have to updta this app from 103 to 110.
In able to do this, I change apk file in application policy.
But, In afaria client, I see that version 110 is shown in update tab. And waiting for tap to update.
I want to update automatically update 103 to 110.
How?
Maybe first of all I have to run Samsung configuration policy to uninstall 103 and then run application policy to install 110.
But this is complicated.
What I've done?
I run Application policy to install 103.
Then I change apk file 103 to 110 in application policy.
Then create a session to send 110.apk file to device.
Then run configuration polict to update from 103 to 110 from defined file location on devices. (storage/sdcard0/110.apk)
I know it is more complicated.

How to write and check log for windows phone enterprise app
We have developed a windows phone enterprise app for our customer, this app will be deployed thorough MDM solution, that is , being installed automatically after the device sucessfully enrolled into the MDM server.
Our customer required that if this app failed, there should be some log file they could send to us for identify the cause.
So we catch exception in the app and write the exception message into IsolatedStorage as log file , as following:

not able to read the isolatedstorage for the application to get errlog.log due to this application not installed by themselves.
Any suggestions?

JenniferThe easiest way I see to achieve this goal is to provide a feedback page, search on app local storage to find the log file, ask the end user to click button to submit any feedback and post the log file. You can set up a server to receive that file.

Enable social sharing for DPS enterprise APP

My client is trying to use social sharing feature (share the article on someone's facebook wall) in the enterprise app for some reason. I have tried to build the enterprise iOS app from APP builder and the social sharing function didn't work at all ( the error message: unable to share. Sorry, this article is not available for sharing ). I think maybe the enterprise APP is for internal usage and not able to share any content outside the company. Does anyone have any experience about putting sharing feature inside enterprise app? Please advise. Thanks a lot.
