Redeploying classes and EJBs into a running, external WeblogicServer6.1 application

Is it possible to debug, edit, compile and deploy the new class and/or EJB using
jBuilder5 on Win2k and WeblogicServer6.1 on Solaris WITHOUT restarting the app
server? Is there solid documentation, where? I can debug, but the 'documentation'
concerning re-deployment on an external WLS application server is vague at best.
For example, from Borland...."If the EJB already exists in WebLogic Server, it
may be necessary either to use re-deploy or to remove it from WebLogic Server
before deployment." From BEA, "...create an empty file named REDEPLOY in the directory
where the exploded application resides. ... After copying the new files, touch
the REDEPLOY ...."

I think i figured this one out. Thanks to everyone who looked at it. Have yourselves a good one.

  • Domain Class and EJB Component

    Hi,
    I have defined a set of domain classes(with get/set methods) and a set of EJB Session Beans for the business logics.
    The question is, where do I locate the domain classes?
    Create a package for it (e.g. com.mysystem.domain)?
    Or distribute it into the Session Bean packages (e.g. for account related domain classes, place it into com.mysystem.ejb.account)?
    The problem for placing it into the domain package:
    1. I have too many domain class ( >200). It's hard to maintain and perform analysis. (Imagine >200 classes in a class diagram)
    2. All session beans need to import the "com.mysystem.domain" package in order to reference the domain classes. Therefore, all session beans will have the dependency to the domain package. Is it what component based development (CBD) does?
    The problem for distribute it into the Session Bean packages:
    1. Some domain classes are heavily depends on other domain classes (e.g Address class has association relationship with the Customer class and Staff class) If I have a session bean for Staff Management(StaffBean) and Customer Management(CustomerBean), where should I put the Address class?
    1. Some domain classes are abstract classes. e.g. Person abstract class have a generalization relationship with the Customer class and Staff class. Similiar to point 1, where should I put the Person class?
    It is appreciate if anyone can clear my mind of component design.

    I have the same confusion, but I think we should place them in a separate packages , a package for each related bundle of domain objects, the logic behind this is that domain object should not know that you are using EJBs or any other technology .

  • Getting the ejb error while running the deployed application

    Application Server : OC4J(JDeveloper11g)
    We are getting the following exception while running the deployed application.But it is working fine in embedded OC4J. We are using the views tables and while inserting the data to view table
    We have used to actual table sequence( that is in other schema) in the view table by giving the grant permission. and we are inserting the data into the view table. But it is working in embedded OC4J. After giving the grant permission to the sequence table and while we were working in the newly deployed application we getting the following error.

  • Safari quits unexpectantly and your system has run out of application memory

    I recently had the Apple Store rebuild my powerbook and they fixed my video and also replaced many other parts. Now my laptop seems fine except that I keep getting these two problems that only resolve if I force quit all my applications and restart the computer. The current OS IS 10.9.
    2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. 4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM. Toshiba 500 GB SATA hard drive wiped by the Apple Store and OS 10.8 installed.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

    Step 2
    In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report — they're very long and not helpful.

    How can I do a dependency injection of and EJB into a jsp?
    When Iu2019m trying to used it (see below), It doesnu2019t work, What Iu2019m doing wrong?
    Also I tried to do a lookup, but I canu2019t do a cast because the classe returned by the lookup is some Proxy class and the only way that Iu2019ve find to access the EJBu2019s methods is through reflection.

  • Running and restricting unsafe code within a safe application

    My application (actually a web application) will do the following:
    - Obtain Java source code from an untrusted source. One such piece of source code will be a JUnit test class (and another will be the class(es) it is testing).
    - Compile the source code in memory, storing the compiled classes into byte[] arrays, using the JSR-199 compiler.
    - Load the JUnit test class that was just compiled, using a URLClassLoader.
    - Run the JUnit test (using the JUnitCore core class in JUnit 4.4) and report the results to the client.
    Since the source code is untrusted, it may do malicious things that I want to prevent. I have wide flexibility in limiting the permissions of the code; for example, I can disallow file reading and writing, network access, etc. However, I do not want to restrict these permissions on my own application, or the JUnit code itself (such as the class JUnitCore, which runs the JUnit test). So the flow will go like this:
    1. Allow unrestricted security policy initially.
    2. Obtain source code.
    3. Compile source code.
    4. Apply restricted security policy.
    5. Load compiled classes and use JUnitCore to run the JUnit test class. (Loading should be restricted so that static initializers in the unsafe code cannot do harm.)
    6. Remove restricted security policy.
    7. Report results (in particular, violating the security policy means, "Test failed").
    However, my very basic understanding of the security policies in Java is that permission granting within a call stack seems to go the other way; untrusted code is run with a restricted security policy, but it may make a call to a system library, for instance, that runs as a privileged block and has extra permissions that the unsafe calling code does not have. I want to flip that around and say, "My code is okay, but when it executes the method JUnitCore.run, restrict the access of that method". Or, to be even more fine-grained, "My code, and any code from junit-4.4.jar such as JUnitCore, is okay, but somewhere in the bowels of JUnitCore.run, some unsafe code will eventually be called, and I want its access restricted."
    I don't even know if this is possible the way I have stated it, and if so, I am having trouble mapping the abstract concepts of a codebase, code signers, etc., on to the specific pieces of code in my project. Someone on another forum suggested that the URLClassLoader used to load the unsafe classes would somehow play the role of a codebase, so that I could state that anything loaded with that class loader should be restricted, but I have not seen a syntax for expressing this in the documentation. Plus, I don't see how using the URLClassLoader used to load the unsafe classes would play a role, since permissions are granted, not denied. It seems that I need a way to map a codebase to the safe code, not the unsafe code, and then grant permissions to the unsafe code.
    It seems like it could be as simple as creating a policy file (say, unsafe.policy) with the contents
    grant codebase "My Application + supporting classes I wrote + any class in junit-4.4.jar" {
        permission java.security.AllPermission;
    };and running java -Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.policy=unsafe.policy MyApp, except that I don't really know how to specify the codebase, or if it is possible to draw a box around my code + junit-4.4.jar in that way.

    I'm sorry to be so slow, but I don't see how to use the two classes you mention for my task. I assume that the only reason I need AccessController is to call AccessController.getContext() to get an instance of AccessControlContext, since the other methods of AccessController don't seem to be what I need. AccessController.checkPermission presumes I have successfully written the security policy already, which is the problem I am trying to solve, and the various AccessController.doPrivileged methods appear to grant extra privileges to code that is called, which is the problem I mentioned earlier: I want certain code that I call to have fewer privileges, rather than more.
    Similarly, I do not see any methods in AccessControlContext that could tell me whether the current executing code is trusted or not. It, too, has a checkPermission method that will work if I set up the security policy correct, which is what I cannot figure out how to do in the first place, and a getDomainCombiner() method. A DomainCombiner has only a single method, which assumes that I already have an array of ProtectionDomain objects. To create a ProtectionDomain, I need to specify a CodeSource, which is, as the documentation indicates, an extension of "the concept of a codebase". It is at this point I get completely lost in the abstract and generic nouns such as domain, codebase, code source, context, and I do not see how to connect them to concrete nouns that I understand such as class file, package, method, etc. Is it the case that I need to create a CodeSource representing the trusted classes? Is there an elegant way to create a CodeSource representing all the classes in a a project (say, under a given directory, or contained within a given jar file), short of enumerating them or digging into directories and jar files doing a search? And once I create this CodeSource within my program, what do I do with it to specify that I want my security policy to allow all permissions for the classes represented by the CodeSource, and restricted permissions for all classes outside the CodeSource, regardless of call order? (since trusted code will call untrusted code, and I do not want the permissions of the trusted code to be inherited by the untrusted code)
    Again, I am sorry to be so ignorant, and I appreciate the help, but I am simply having trouble connecting the concepts described in the documentation to the specific concrete aspects of my application.

  • Load-balancing and fail-over between web containers and EJB containers

    When web components and EJB components are run in different OC4J instances, can we achieve load-balancing and fail-over between web containers and EJB containers?

    It looks like there is clustering, but not loadbalancing available for rmi
    from the rmi.xml configuration. The application will treat any ejbs on the
    cluster as one-to-one look-ups. Orion will go out and get the first ejb
    available on the cluster. See the docs on configuring rmi.xml (and also the
    note below).
    That is a kind-of failover, because if machine A goes down, and the
    myotherAejbs.jar are on machine B too, orion will go out and get the bean
    from machine B when it can't find machine A. But it doesn't go machine A
    then machine B for each remote instance of the bean. You could also specify
    the maximum number of instances of a bean, and as one machine gets "loaded",
    orion would go to the next available machine...but that's not really
    loadbalancing.
    That is, you can set up your web-apps with ejbs, but let all of the ejbs be
    remote="true" in the orion-application.xml file:

    of the other nodes in the cluster.
    port - The port to transmit and receive cluster data on. The default is
    9127.
    username - The username configured for cluster access. Needs to match that
    of the other nodes in the cluster.

    i<b> could not able to get MEl.jar and jasper.jar.</b>  In the path it is showing that we find it in download\lib but to my suprise there is no lib folder in downloads.  Then i removed MEl.jar from my application and exported to WebConsole .  After login to Webconsole it is asking Mobile Component name, Version and some mandatory fields.There i got stuck up.
    so please guide me with necessary steps and help me to run my first application.

    In Order to deploy an APPLICATION in MI client perform these methods:-
    1. Login in WebConsole which you already done.
    2. Click on upload mobile component.
    3. Fill the entries like - component type as application,mobile component as the name of the application,Description any thing you want to describe about your application.Runtime enviroment as AWT.And then browse your applications.
    4.After uploading click on administration and then add entries and then fill all the entries.
    5. After adding go to ur MI Client and then Login and synchronize

    And the Question is, Shall I use HttpSession and EJB 3 Statefull session in same application?

    if it is a Web application you need the https session anyway and the two are different kind of beasts, one handled by teh EJB container, the other by the web container.
    The question is why you ned stateful session beans - which seems to be a rare usecase? Usually state is persisted and tracked in the business service.
    However, without an error message its hard to tell what going wrong here

    The best way to run the java application would be to dynamiically load it within the same JVM. Look thru the class "ClassLoader" and the "Class", "Method" etc...clases.
    The problem with exec is that it starts another JVM and moreover you dont have the interface where you can throw the Output directly.(indirectly it can be done by openong InputStreams bala blah............). I found this convenient. I am attaching part of my code for easy refernce.

  • How do I fix message "computer has run out of application memory" even tho all apps are closed

    Since loading Mavericks my iMac 27-inch (2009) 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 stays almost out of virtual memory and often pauses all apps and messages "computer has run out of application memory." I have run spindump, but no significant difference is made.

    Spindump is a diagnostic tool used by Apple. It doesn't fix anything.
    There is excessive swapping of data between physical memory (that is, the memory chips on the logic board) and virtual memory (one or more files on the startup volume.) That activity is relatively slow and causes the whole system to be less responsive. It can happen for two reasons:
    A long-running process with a memory leak (a kind of bug)
    Not enough memory for your usage pattern
    Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
    When you notice the swap activity, open the Activity Monitor application and select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if it's not already selected. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
    View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
    If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
    The process named "Safari Web Content" renders web pages for Safari and other applications. It uses a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider it a prime suspect.
    Another process often implicated in memory leaks is "inkjet4" or "inkjet8," which is a component of the HP printing software. If it's present, force-quit the process in Activity Monitor to solve the problem temporarily. Empty the print queues in the Printers & Scanners preference pane (which has a slightly different name in each recent version of OS X.) If you don't use an HP printer, remove the software. Otherwise, if the problem is recurrent, update the software (which may not help) or contact HP support.
    The System Memory tab of the Activity Monitor window shows how physical memory is being used. "Wired" memory should be a small part of the total. That memory is not swapped, but it makes less physical memory available which may then result in swapping. If you have a lot of wired memory, that's usually an indication of a memory leak in a third-party program that modifies the operating system at a low level. Ask for guidance in that case.
    If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
    The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command: 
    sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
    where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

  • Using Timer and TimerTask classes in EJB's(J2EE)

    Does J2EE allow us to use Timer and TimerTask classes from java.util package in SessionBean EJB's ( Statless or Statefull )?.
    If J2EE does allow, I am not sure how things work in practical, Lets take simple example where a stateless SessionBean creates a Timer class
    and schedules a task to be executed after 5 hours and returns. Assuming
    GC kicks in many times in 5 hours, I wonder if the Timer object created by survives the GC run's so that it can execute the scheduled tasks.
    My gut feeling says that the Timer Object will not survive.. Just
    want to confirm that.
    I will be interested to know If there are any techiniques that can make
    the usage of Timer and TimeTask classes in EJB's possible as well as reliable with minmum impact on over all performance.

    Have a look at J2EE 1.4. I think they add a timer service for EJBs there...

  • Spark Classes and Skins not being included when running FlexUnit task via Ant

    I have a series of unit tests that run on a spark component. This spark component has a custom skin defined for it, and that is working beautifully.
    Inside that component is a spark list... By default, after digging into the list code, spark lists should use a default skin called "BorderContainerSkin". When I run the application that uses this component directly (whether compiled via FlashBuilder or via Ant/Hudson), the component itself runs and looks exactly like I would expect. When I run my unit tests in the browser (via Run As Web Application command on my TestRunner), the unit tests all perform as expected.
    However, when I run the FlexUnit tests via Ant (either through windows non-headless, or linux headless), an exception is thrown with the following error:

    The issue is that the "BorderContainerSkin" class isn't ever getting imported along the way. I did several things that worked to "fix" the problem, but they are all hacky and don't explain the root problem:
    1- If I explicitly import that skin into my test file, then everything works great.
    2- If I add the <includes> directive into my mxmlc task in the Ant file, and again specifically call out that skin class, then again it will work.
    However, how would I know what skins from the spark library are going to get included and which aren't? How would I know that a default skin isn't included or where to find it or even what it is?
    It seems like either I'm missing something in my Ant file or there is a serious bug here with the FlexUnit task. Can anyone shed light on if this is a known issue, any permanent fixes (that don't involve keeping track of a long list of strings of class references), or anything that I might be missing?

    Guessing the ant tasks aren't forcing the include of the spark skins libraries... which is a little silly. I would assume the compiler would take care of this but it is something we can investigate...
    Not 100% sure as to why, but this is what it sounds like.

  • Help newbie: in running sample CORBA and EJB

    I am trying to run the samples that come along with the http
    server for 8.1.7, all the examples work except for these two,
    for the CORBA,I am able to load and publish, and works
    perferctly from the client (used runit.bat) but when i try to
    run from the web, it gives me a "class hell.Hello not found in
    import",
    and in EJB,
    while i run makeit.bat it gives me an ora error which tells that
    i am trying to insert a value too long for oracle, this comes
    when trying to use loadjava.
    can anybody help me out, any help is appreciated.

    use Oracle9iAS - OC4J, Oracle Containers for J2EE. It is a
    robust, fast and a suggested environment for developing J2EE
    based applications. Oracle database JVM should be used only for
    deploying Java Stored Procedures. OC4J can be downloaded from OTN
    , small footprint, easy to download and install and much easy to
    configure. You will know it yourself once you download it.
