Redirect uppercase directories

I'm using Server Admin>Web>Sites>Aliases on Server 10.4.8. I want to redirect web pages for a directory called "/Registration" to "/getting_started/advising/registration" but it doesn't allow me to enter an uppercase letter "R"; a lowercase "r" works fine, but doesn't redirect the uppercase "R".
Apples documentation doesn't address this issue; suggestions?

One option is to create the "Registration" directory, and create a file inside it called "index.php" (make sure php module is enabled on the webserver), which contains the following:
<?php
header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
header("Location: <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://www.yoursite.com/gettingstarted/advising/registration">http://www.yoursite.com/gettingstarted/advising/registration</a>");
exit();

  • Difference b/w PAR & JAR Files

    hi,
i m new to enterprise portal(EP),what is a use of PAR file in portal appl , what is the difference b/w PAR & JAR files, why cant we can use JAR file.
    thank in advance naresh

    Hi,
In computing, a JAR file (or Java ARchive) is used for aggregating many files into one. It is generally used to distribute Java classes and associated metadata.
    1) WAR (file format) (Web Application aRchive) files are also Java archives which store XML files, java classes, Java Server Pages and other objects for Web Applications.
    2) RAR (Resource Adapter aRchive) files, not to be confused with the RAR (file format), are also Java archives which store XML files, java classes and other objects for J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) applications.
3)EAR (file format) (Enterprise ARchive) files are composite Java archives which combine XML files, java classes and other objects including JAR, WAR and RAR Java archive files for Enterprise Applications.
JAR files can be created and extracted using the "jar" command that comes with the JDK. It can be done using zip tools, but as WinZip has a habit of renaming all-uppercase directories and files in lower case, this can raise support calls with whoever created the JAR or the tool authors themselves. WinRAR, on the other hand, retains the original case of filenames.
A JAR file has an optional manifest file located in the path META-INF/MANIFEST.MF. The entries in the manifest file determine how the JAR file will be used. JAR files which are intended to be executed as standalone programs will have one of their classes specified as the "main" class. The manifest file would have an entry such as
Portal applications are packaged in PAR (Portal Archive) files. A PAR file is a standard ZIP file with a .par extension that contains a deployment descriptor, all Java classes, Web resources and other files required to run the application.
Within the portal, the name of the PAR file is the name of the application. The fully qualified name of any component or service defined in the PAR is the name of the PAR file, followed by a period (.) and then the name of the component or service.
A PAR file contains the following files:
The following files are contained files contained in a PAR file are divided into the following types:
    &#9679;     Web resources
All files in a PAR file that are accessible directly via an HTTP request, such as:
    &#9675;     HTML
    &#9675;     Images
    &#9675;     Stylesheets (.css)
Web resource files can be located anywhere outside the top-level PORTAL-INF and META-INF folders.
You can create links to these files directly. For more information, see Creating URLs to Web Resources.
    ·        Java Classes and Deployment Descriptor
Java classes that implement the component and services defined in the PAR file, plus the deployment descriptor (portalapp.xml). The deployment descriptor specifies the components and services contained in the PAR file, and defines the configuration for the application, components and services. For more information the deployment descriptor, see Deployment Descriptor (portalapp.xml).
The PAR file’s Java classes and deployment descriptor are located in the top-level PORTAL&#8209;INF folder
    ·        Manifest
A PAR can also include a manifest file (MANIFEST.MF in the top-level META-INF folder), which provides version information. The folder and file are not required, but are recommended for tracking versions of your application.
in enterprise portal we use mainly EAR as jar files.
to import EAR files you need to follow this steps
    goto
system administration -> Transport -> Transport Packages -> import -> choose client or server on your convinence and browse to this file and press upload and then after uploading press import
for PAR files you need to follow this steps
    goto
system administration -> support -> Support Desk -> in Top Level Areas selcet portal runtime -> in "Portal Anywhere" Admin Tools select Administration Console -> in Upload Archive Specify a Portal Archive (PAR) file and choose 'Upload' to store the PAR in the PCD-> browse the file and press upload.

  • Any tips for upgrading from LR4 to LR5

I am just about to attempt my upgrade from LR4 (student edition) to full-fledged LR5.   Any hints or tips on how to redirect LR4 directories, etc. to LR5?   Other tips for the install?   (Obviously, I've backed up my computer prior to starting.)
    Thanks!
    Rick

Your "full-fledged" Lightroom 5 will be no different than the student version of Lightroom 5, because there is only one Lightroom program. You'll have new features in Lightroom 5, of course. But don't expect anything extraordinary because there is no difference. All you have to do is install Lightroom 5. Since it is an upgrade, it will look for that serial number from your Lightroom 4, and then you will have to enter the new serial number for Lightroom 5. When Lightroom starts it will find your previous catalog and will offer to upgrade it to the appropriate format. The original Lightroom 4 catalog will be left as it was, and completely usable by Lightroom 4. After the upgrade process completes you should be able to see all the images and all the work that you did in Lightroom 4, but you will be using the new program. It's a very straightforward process.

    ICT Remarkables Primary School.

Many Open Directory problems can be resolved by taking the following steps. Test after each one, and back up all data before making any changes.
    1. The OD master must have a static IP address on the local network, not a dynamic address. It must not be connected to the same network with more than one interface; e.g., Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
    2. You must have a working DNS service, and the server's hostname must match its fully-qualified domain name. To confirm, select the server by name in the sidebar of the Server application window, then select the Overview tab. Click the Edit button on the Host Name line. On the Accessing your Server sheet, Domain Name should be selected. Change the Host Name, if necessary. The server must have at least a three-level name (e.g. "server.yourdomain.com"), and the name must not be in the ".local" top-level domain, which is reserved for Bonjour.
    3. The primary DNS server used by the server must be itself, unless you're using another server for internal DNS. The only DNS server set on the clients should be the internal one, which they should get from DHCP if applicable.
    4. Only if you're still running Mavericks server, follow these instructions to rebuild the Kerberos configuration on the server.
    5. If you use authenticated binding, check the validity of the master's certificate. The common name must match the hostname and domain name. Deselecting and then reselecting the certificate in Server.app has been reported to have an effect in some cases. Otherwise delete all certificates and create new ones.
    6. Unbind and then rebind the clients in the Users & Groups preference pane. Use the fully-qualified domain name of the master.
    7. Reboot the master and the clients.
    8. Don't log in to the server with a network user's account.
    9. Disable any internal firewalls in use, including third-party "security" software.
    10. If you've created any replica servers, delete them.
    11. If OD has only recently stopped working when it was working before, you may be able to restore it from the automatic backup in /var/db/backups, or from a Time Machine snapshot of that backup.
    12. As a last resort, export all OD users. In the Open Directory pane of Server, delete the OD server. Then recreate it and import the users. Ensure that the UID's are in the 1001+ range.
If you get this far without solving the problem, then you'll need to examine the logs in the Open Directory section of the log list in the Server app, and also the system log on the clients.

  • Folder Redirection not working on SMB Network Home Directories

I've setup network home directories on a 10.7.3 server. NHDs are available via SMB currently. I'm trying to setup folder redirection via MCXRedirector for both the ~/Library/Cache folder and ~/Downloads and redirect them to the local client. Client is 10.7.3 joined to OD. I'm using Login Redirection and the option to delete the existing folder and create a symlink. I used these instructions to create the redirectors: http://www.afp548.com/article.php?story=MCXRedirector
When NHDs are available via SMB, the folders are created on the local client, but the symlinks aren't created in the NHD. I can switch the NHDs to be available via AFP, and then it works fine. I can switch back to SMB and the symlink stays in place and appears to work with no issue.
Am I missing something here? I can't find any documentation that says I can't use MCXRedirector with SMB shares, and I see a number of posts where it appears that people are using it successfully... so I'm not sure what is wrong? Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

    Hi James,
For folder redirection issues, we can go to Windows Logs\Application in Event Viewer to check if some related error events were logged.  Besides, we can also run cmd command
gpresult/v or gpresult/z to collect group policy result to check if something goes wrong.
Regarding how to configure folder redirection, in my opinion, the following article provides a good guide.

  • Server load balancing on Local Director implementing HTTP redirection

Hi, got an interesting problem when implementing the HTTP redirection method of session persistance or stickiness when balancing a couple of web servers on a Local Director 416. The session persistance works fine but it looks like one of the two servers is getting all the traffic rather than balancing accross the two. The servers are equally spec'd and when it comes to the predictor setting for the virtual, I'm just using the defaults i.e. leastconns/roundrobin. Is there a better predictor setting to use?? Any input would be appreciated.

The “loaded” argument has worked well. Take note that this requires a value to be set with the “weight” command. It gives a specific amount of traffic to one, and then moves to the other.

  • Local Director & HTTP Redirection

Hi, just wondering if anyone has successfully implemented HTTP
redirection on Cisco Local Director 416 running ver 4.1.2 Basically I'm
after any pitfalls to look out for. Current implementation utilizes
generic session stickiness however this has problems for clients
trying to access our load balanced servers if they come from behind
    multiple proxies via their ISP.
Servers are Private IP addressed (Firewall in front of LD performing NAT static
    txlation)
On another point, how does the Cisco CS11000 (Arrowpoint) perform
session persistance/stickiness or what "better" ways does the
Arrowpoint acheive this as compared to Local Director?
Any helpful input would be much appreciated.

  • Weblogic's redirect and Local Director session stikiness.

    Hi all,
We've been facing a very painfull problem in my company. Basically, it relates
to the fact that weblogic 'uselessly' makes a redirect to index.jsp everytime
somebody tries to reach our website.
The redirect itselve is bad, but when we have Local Director configured in front
of our farm, with stickness enabled, the damn think locks for 3+ seconds before
sending the also weird '0000' characters (that I suppose, indicate the page or
transaction was completed). This 0000 comes from Weblogic itself (we notice it
sends that even when we are not behind local director). We are also expiriencing
some premature session timeoffs... very weird.
Did anybody even configured WL 6.1 SP2 as the main webserver under a local director,
and faced the same problem? We are desperate here.
    Thanks,
    Rodrigo

One other thing ... using URL with openConnection we found that we had to
end-pad the stream with two additional bytes (ignored) to get the full
message committed. Could be the same freaky thing.

  • Local Director http probes with URLs and http redirect mode

I am trying to configure http probes on my Local director 430 running 4.2.3
I am using http redirect mode so the Virtual is bound to URLs not REALs with are linked to DIPs which are bound to REALs. So far the probes seem to not actually do anything. Does anyone know if the probes are compatible with URL redirect loadbalancing. And if so how one would go about configuring it.
    Thanks for your help.

keepalive can be used for the probe notification in this case.

  • Lighttpd https redirect for only certain directories

This works great for redirecting all traffic to https on my home server:
    # Redirect all http requests to https
    $SERVER["socket"] == ":80" {
    $HTTP["host"] =~ "(.*)" {
    url.redirect = ( "^/(.*)" => "https://%1/$1" )
However, I'm trying to exclude one directory from this (other people using it, self-signed ssl messages...you get the idea ) and I can't quite wrap my brain around it. Server Fault and Stackoverflow had some examples that were close, but I couldn't manipulate them into doing what I wanted. A gentle shove in the right direction would be much appreciated.
Very simple layout: /srv/http/<dir1> /srv/http/<dir2> /srv/http<dir3> etc. Call it 'foo-dir' that I want to exclude. The server sits behind a consumer router with all port 80 and 443 traffic directed to the server's static IP.  External IP via dyndns.
    Thanks!

  • Folder redirection configured in GPO does not create Documents folder and does not redirect

    Hi
Another Folder Redirect-post - sorry for that, but I could not find an answer for my problem so far: even with consulting many threads here...
We have an existing environment under Windows XP and want to move away from that. Now I ran into troubles with folder redirection...
The following folder- and permission structure exists so far:
\\<server>\<Users$-share>: This is the base folder for all users-directories
-> Permissions: SYSTEM: Full / Administrators: Full / Users: Read&Execute, only this folder
-> Share-permissions: Authenticated users: Full control
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>: base folder for the specific user
-> Permissions: SYSTEM: Full / Administrators: Full / User: Change, all permissions inherited onwards
-> Giving only change permission prevent further problems with self-called "advanced users"... ;-)
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\profil.V2: Profile directory of the user
-> Of course here the permissions are set by the system: override the predefined permission
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten: Atcual Home directory of the user
\\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten\Documents: Suposed Documents directory of the user
Now I am going to Server 2012 and Windows 8.1, configured the GPO to redirect Documents folder into the above mentioned:
GPO - User configuration - Policies - Windows settings - Folder Redirection - Documents:
Setting: Standart - redirects all folders to the same path
Destination folder: Copy to base directory of the user
I apply policy to the user, log out and in - it doesn't work, no folder Documents created in my home-folder, Folder Documents still configured at C:\Users\<user>\Documents
    A very special point:
I also do Redirection of the My Pictures-folder: Define it to follow the Documents folder. Funnily that one works and creates and configures \\<server>\<Users$-share>\<username>\daten\Pictures
-> So in my eyes, it should work!
Then: I want to do the folder redirection without Offline Files, due to the fact, that our users work with dynamically assigned virtual desktops, which are been cleaned everytime a user logs off a machine. Therefore synchronizing doesn't make sense...
I just cannot see, why this redirection does not work :-(
Thank you very much for any help!
    Kind regards
    David

    Hi David,
Before going further, would you please let me confirm the OS version of the Windows Server which you used to
configure folder redirection? Based on your description, did you mean that those users (who will be applied folder redirection settings) logged on Windows XP client computer?
When you configure the folder redirection setting in Document Properties (path:
User Configuration-> Policies-> Windows Settings-> Folder Redirection-> Documents), please check if you checked “Also apply redirection policy to Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 operating system” in Settings
    tab. As below picture shows.
    à
GPO - User configuration - Policies - Windows settings - Folder Redirection - Documents:
    à•Setting: Standart
    - redirects all folders to the same path
    à•Destination
folder: Copy to base directory of the user
Would you please provide a screenshot of those settings you describe? Meanwhile, please summarily describe
that how you configure. For example, where this GPO link to? Or any other. It will help me to understand clearly. Thanks for your understanding.
    In addition, please use
gpresult command to check if the folder redirection group policy was really applied.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
