Redirection causes loss of param/attribute values

Hello I am new to JSF and I have a few questions regarding the same .
I am using (JSf-struts) for a web application in which I redirect a page (in the config class) .I am not able to access param/attribute values in the action class after redirection.
Does redirection cause the loss of param values , if so what should be the remidy.
If I want add an attribute (with session scope) how do I add it in the JSF
can I do something like this ....
<f:param name="datasets" scope="session" value="Master.txt" />

Put in session
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getSessionMap().put(key,
                                                                                   obj);

  • Copying attribute values in xsl transformation

    Hi
    Does anyone know how to copy attribute values in a transfomation generated in a routing rule of a ESB routing service.
    When I inspect the generated xsl (after mapping elements), I can see that the xsl:value-of is used and therefore the element attributes of the original message are lost.
    Specifically when an element contains the xsi:nil attribute, I want to copy it to the target message.
    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Ruud

    Hi Nathalie,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I would like to elaborate a bit on our problem because I feel that we haven't reached a satisfactory solution yet.
    We are using ESB database adapters to perform DML operations on the database. However we expose these adapters using routing services to allow us to use filters, content based routing etc.
    Consider this example:
    I want to perform an update on a row in the database. If my soap call contains an empty element, this element will be ignored. If I want this the corresponding attribute in the database set to NULL then I have to add the xsi:nill="true" attribute to the element in my message. This works great when invoking the database adapter directly but when you place a routing service in front of it, the transformation will wipe out the xsi:nill="true" attribute on the element causing the database adapter to ignore the element instead of updating to NULL.
    We have found two workarounds:
    detectommissions="false" setting in the wsdl of the database adapter. All empty elements in the message will cause an update to NULL in the database. This means that for every update you always have to have all values in your message to prevent unwanted updates to NULL.
    Add a choose / when / otherwise construction in the transformation of the routing service. If the source element is empty we add an empty element in the destination message containing an xsi:nill="true" attribute, otherwise we just copy the value.
    This construction should be added for each attribute that must be updateable to null.
    Both of these solutions are not satisfactory because they eliminate the choice whether an empty element in the invoking soap call should be ignored or used to trigger an update to null.
    We would like to be able to detect the xsi:nill="attribute" on the invoking call and propagate this attribute to the call to the database adapter.
    Kind regards,
    Ruud

  • In Jsp TagLib how can I get the Attribute value (like JavaBean) in jsp

    Dear Friends,
    TagLib how can I get the Attribute value (like JavaBean) in jsp .
    I do this thing.
    public void setPageContext(PageContext p) {
              pc = p;
    pc.setAttribute("id", new String("1") );
              pc.setAttribute("first_name",new String("Siddharth")); //,pc.SESSION_SCOPE);
              pc.setAttribute("last_name", new String("singh"));
    but in Jsp
    <td>
    <%=pageContext.getAttribute("first_name"); %>
    cause null is returing.
    Pls HELP me
    with regards
    Siddharth Singh

    First, there is no need to pass in the page context to the tag. It already is present. How you get to it depends on what type of tag:
    Using [url http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/jsp/tagext/SimpleTagSupport.html]SimpleTagSupport
    public class MyTag extends SimpleTagSupport
      public void doTag()
        PageContext pc = (PageContext)getJspContext();
        pc.setAttribute("first_name", "Siddharth");
        pc.setAttribute("last_name", "Singh");
        pc.setAttribute("id", "1");
    }Using [url http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/jsp/tagext/TagSupport.html]TagSupport or it's subclass [url http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/jsp/tagext/BodyTagSupport.html]BodyTagSupport the page context is aleady declared as an implicit object:
    public class MyTag extends TagSupport
      public void doStartTag()
        pageContext.setAttribute("first_name", "Siddharth");
        pageContext.setAttribute("last_name", "Singh");
        pageContext.setAttribute("id", "1");
    }In each case, this sort of thing should work:
    <mytags:MyTag />
    <%= pageContext.getAttribute("first_name") %>I

    How can I avoid getting nulls in my attribute values when I use the Row.writeXML function? It causes the XSL to choke.
    I'd appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    if this is so, set the iterator in the PageDef file to have its "Refresh"" property set to "prepareModel". Note that we cannot really tell what causes this as we don't have access to your code. I suggest that if you don't get it working with the suggested configuration to file a Service Request with customer support

  • Urgent help ----problem of component id and attribute value

    I want to produce a dynamic menu that compoment id and attribute value will be dynamic assigned when logon to system. That means i have to use id="#{aid}" and value="#{avalue}" in following codes.
    The problem are:
    1. Component id looks only accepts constant (hard code data) insteads of varable. I changed id="ADMIN", and it works. It can be empty, and tag will give me one. Therefore, it is not too much affected me.
    2. The f:attribute value, when value="Value" works. However, when value="#{avalue}", first time works, second time it throws Illegal State Exception. I really need this value be assigned by varable.

    Is the first time one of these files crashes always on one system or another, or is it random across systems?
    It is random and it's not related to a file (one time i can open the file andanother time it cause an InDesign crash);
    It sounds very much like a font problem. Are you using a font manager, and if so, which one?
    We have reproduced the problem also on machine with only system's fonts.
    I forgot to say that the crashes happen only with InDesign files with InCopy files linked in.
    Thanks

  • Clearning attribute values with amadmin

    How can I clear an attribute value with amadmin?
    In particular, I am trying to using ModifyServiceTemplate within OrganizationRequests to clear the bind dn for the ldap authentication module.
    I have tried "<Value></Value>", "<Value/>", and just leaving out the value element. The first two attempts cause the amadmin command to complain when it sends the request to the server. Leaving the value element out causes the document to not be valid according to the dtd so amadmin will not even process it.
    <Requests>
    <OrganizationRequests DN="o=mitre.org,o=isp">
    <ModifyServiceTemplate serviceName="iPlanetAMAuthLDAPService"
    schemaType="Dynamic">
    <AttributeValuePair>
    <Attribute name="iplanet-am-auth-ldap-bind-dn"/>
    <Value> </Value>
    </AttributeValuePair>
    </ModifyServiceTemplate>
    </OrganizationRequets>
    </Requests>

    I think you should use DeleteServiceTemplate:
    <OrganizationRequests DN="o=sun.com,o=isp">
    <DeleteServiceTemplate serviceName="iPlanetAMAuthLDAPService" schemaType="Dynamic"/>
    </OrganizationRequests>
    </Requests>
    If you want to keep the service template but you don't want a value for "iplanet-am-auth-ldap-bind-dn" maybe you can use <Value="">. I don't know for sure, but that would be just like if don't want to show the helptext for a channel.

  • Message Attribute value not getting populated

    Hi,
    We are using the WF_NOTIFICATION.send() API to send a notification. We have some attributes in the subject and body. We are setting the values to these attributes using WF_NOTIFICATION.SetAttrText() API. Notification is sent successfully, but the values for the attributes in the subject line is not getting set (returns blank), but if we use the same attribute in the message body, the values are properly set (returns the value). The values are properly getting updated in the table wf_notification_attributes.
    e.g. We have an attribute NAME, in the subject and body we use &NAME, the subject returns null, where as body returns attribute value.
    Please let us know what is the issue?
    Is there any way of sending notification (using some other standard API), but subject attribute should get updated with actual value?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    See OWF forum message:Re: wfnotificationapi.getsubject() 's return value
    There is a bug related in Metalink: Doc ID = 229566.1
    fact: Oracle Workflow Cartridge
    symptom: Regional settings other than English
    symptom: Statement WFNotificationAPI.getSubject(context, new BigDecimal(125)
    ) always returns null.
    symptom: The method WFNotificationAPI.getSubject returns the subject of the

    cause: Bug 2379277 Oracle Workflow Java Notification API Multilingual
    Problem
    The language is not recognized by WF as an installed language.
    fix:
    1. Follow the instructions for installing an additional language in The Oracle

  • Selections on attribute values in BPS

    Hello,
    I have a issue regarding the selection on attributes values in BPS (data slices, functions).
    If I make a restriction on an <i>existing attribute value</i> of an infooject in a data slice or std function (not FOX nor Exit), everything works as required. Even if this particular attribute value is not in the selection of my level (this seems logic, if the value is not in my selection... it is not selected).
    The problem is when I make a restriction on an <i>attribute value that is not assigned yet to a char value</i>.
    If I run my layout or function, then I receive the following error message :
    <i>Selections for characteristic XXX cannot be determined
    Message no. UPC_FW137
    Diagnosis
    It was attempted to read the selections for characteristic XXX. But no values could be determined. This can have one of the following causes:
    For characteristic XXX, the selection is defined by a hierarchy node, but no values were found for the selected nodes.
    For characteristic XXX, the selection is defined by attribute selections, but no values were found for the attribute selections entered.
    Procedure
    Change the selection for characteristic XXX so that values can be delivered.
    </i>
    ... Well yes I understand it but the attribute will be updated in another process, so I am expecting that if this value doesn't exist yet, the data slice/function does nothing since it has nothing to select...
    The current workaround (but I don't like it at all) is to create dummy values of my characteristic where I put the attribute value I am interested in. Then even if these dummy char values are not contained in my level selection, everything works fine.
    Do you have any clue/idea in order to help me on this?
    Thank you in advance,

    Any idea?

  • How to retrieve attribute value from my JSP?

    My servlet needs to redirect to a JSP. Before that, I set an attribute value.
    getServletContext().setAttribute("filename",templateFile);
    RequestDispatcher rd = getServletContext().getRequest...
    rd.forward(request, response);
    In my JSP, this is how I want to retrieve it:
    <%
    String filename = (String)request.getAttribute("filename");
    if (filename != null)
    %>
    <%= filename %>
    <%
    else
    %>
    it is null
    <%
    %>
    But the value is always null? Do I need any tag or declaration on the top of my JSP?

    Can i set attribute for list and get that list using request.getAttribute() in jsp?
    ex.
    in action
    List plist;
    plist = ...
    request.setAttribute("plist", plist);
    to get this value in jsp
    <%
    List plist = (List)request.getAttribute("plist");
    %>

    I've a task flow that includes an ExecuteWithParams method call activity. Things are set up so it will always return no more than 1 row.
    What i need to do is put some of the attribute values in the row returned by the ExecuteWithParams in PageFlowScope params, as these values will be used later in the task flow.
    is there a way to have an ExecuteWithParams activity set such params based on the returned row? or is there some other way?
    I'm using 11g.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the response. I tried that, but only a null object results as the return value.
    To study what is going on, i defined the pageFlowScope params an object, and then debugged.
    Here's the method call activity definition:
    <method-call id="ExecuteWithParams">
          <method>#{bindings.ExecuteWithParams.execute}</method>
          <return-value id="__142">#{pageFlowScope.p_ExistingDetailsAttrVals}</return-value>
          <outcome id="__20">
            <fixed-outcome>ExecuteWithParams</fixed-outcome>
          </outcome>
        </method-call>Here's the task flow param definition:
    <input-parameter-definition id="__91">
          <name id="__90">p_ExistingDetailsAttrVals</name>
          <value>#{pageFlowScope.p_ExistingDetailsAttrVals}</value>
          <class>java.lang.Object</class>
        </input-parameter-definition>I debugged in a method in a PageFlowScope bean, but this merely returns a null object:
    Object o = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getPageFlowScope().get("p_ExistingDetailsAttrVals}");I know that the ExecuteWithParams query results are for one row, so this is not due to the query params not resulting in any query results.
    So, is there something I'm doing wrong?
    Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I could not find any significant documentation on ExecuteWithParams - for example, does ExecuteWithParams return anything, or is it merely executing a query a la RowSet.ExecuteQuery(). If it does return, what is the data type? etc.

  • Not getting attribute values in IPC routines Scenerio R/3 B2B using AP 7.0

    Hi,
    Our Scenerio is using ISA R/3 B2B using AP 7.0. I have developed IPC routines but when i debug my routines in SM53 I notice that I'm not getting any attribute value except for VKORG.

  • Passing attribute value in session variable

    Hi All
    I need to store one field value from my SIM form as a session variable and pass them to the next page along with my session, using some jscript stuff or else. Does this make sense?
    If it is possible or anyone have any prior experience please reply.
    Thanks in advance

    We have tested a code-snippet that 'gets' attribute-values from the session:
    <invoke name='getAttribute'>
        <invoke name='getHttpSession'>
            <ref>:display.state</ref>
        </invoke>
        <s>attribute_name</s>
    </invoke>You can try 'setAttribute' in the similar way.
    Thanks,
    Adi

    Hi Jaya,
    You want to catch Flexfield values?
    Try below code for catch value.
    OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    if (pageContext.getParameter("queryBtn")!= null)
    OADescriptiveFlexBean dfb = (OADescriptiveFlexBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("flexDFF"); //get the DFF bean
    OAWebBean dffbean = (OAWebBean)dfb.findChildRecursive("flexDFF0"); //get the field that applies to the attribute1 column that is being rendered
    OAMessageStyledTextBean Stylebean = (OAMessageStyledTextBean)dffbean;
    String dtlsItem  = (String)Stylebean.getText(pageContext);
    /*  here creating  the hashmap and calling the page with the hashmap*/
    Thanks,
    Dilip
