Reducing Quick Time File Size

I want to reduce QT videos for e-mailing to clients. My files coming out of Final Cut are in the 1gb area and the video in question is 1 minute 30 seconds in length. Under File>Export> I'm choosing "Movie to QuickTime movie" and want to know under the "Options" button, the best combination of settings to create a file that is under 6 or 7mb with the best quality given the desired size.
Thanks!

Given the stated conditions, you can use an audio-video combination having a total data rate on the order of 533-622 Kbps. An H.264/AAC file would normally provide the highest level of quality for a given data rate/file size. For example, an H.264 video encode with a 512 Kbps data rate and AAC mono audio at 64 Kbps and 44.1 KHz sampling rate would fit your stated requirements. A 320x240/320x180 version with these specifications should provide good to excellent quality while a 640x480/640x360 version might be only fair to good quality depending on the source content. If working with HD content and demanding high quality or longer playing times, your best bet would be to post your files to a server and either send the URL or a QTL/Reference file in the E-Mail (assuming the recipients have high-speed connection for viewing/downloading).

  • Quick TIme file size is huge!

I was trying to see what is eating up space on my hard drive and downloaded Disk Inventory X .0 which works great. But is showed that my Quick Time folder had 16GB excluding the 32GB of videos in another folder. What could the QT files be?
    Thanks!

Impossible for anyone here to say without more details. What are the files named?

  • DVD Studio will not encode my quick time files!!

Okay, so I know that I can run my files through compressor and make MPEG2's to burn in DVD Studio Pro. But it is just an extra step for what I do because usually we need a quick time file also to post to our website. When I drop any .mov file into DVD Studio it gives me an error while encoding... What can I do? are my codecs wrong? HELP!!!

Okay, the dimensions on one of my files is 720x480.
the codec i am using is DV/DVCpro - NTSC, Integer
    (big endian), timecode.
The frame rate is most likely 29.97 or whatever
digital video is. It is not 24fps.
Well, your frame size is OK. Check the frame rate to make absolutely sure it's 29.97 (since you said it's not 24 fps) and not something slightly different.
Having your disc project set to PAL instead of NTSC shouldn't cause the error, even if you bring in NTSC assets. At least, it didn't cause errors on DVDSP 4 when I tried it just now.

how to reduce a PDF file size under Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. The size is now 23MB; I need it to be less than 4MB. thanks

I've found in Pdf's many time when you go to Optimize a PDF and look at the font list there are often up to a 1/2dozen copies of a given font, say Helvetica, then that many Helvetica Bold, or Arial or Ariel Italic
What I do ie remove from list all but one copy of each different font. often dramatically reduces the size. also something lese is Flattening images will in some cases reduce a file size. I have run into a case where it actually made a PDF Larger.

  • How do I reduce a Pages file size so I can create a pdf for e-mailing?

I recently upgraded from Tiger to OS X Leopard. In Tiger, I was able to reduce file size and create a 700 to 800kb file by going to print/color sync/quartz filter/reduce file size/save as pdf. But in Leopard those options can't be accessed from my pages print menu. Any suggestions? Thanks TH

    Hi t.h.leeds,
    Welcome to Pages discussions.
Another way to reduce the PDF files size is: Print > PDF, Compress PDF. As I create a PDF for e-mailing that's what I do, works well. 99.99% of folks don't print PDF's, they either file in a folder or delete. Viewing on their monitor that Compress PDF appears as it should.
A side note; by using this discussions Search feature in the box that reads "Search Discussions more Options" you could have found the answer to your question. Doing that would be faster than awaiting for an enduser as yourself to respond.
These Discussions are user helping user, not Apple employees answering the question. Questions will be answered when a user such as yourself finds time, desires to, knows the answer along with the time to respond.
Again, welcome to Pages Discussions, have fun here.
    Sincerely,

Thanks for your solution, it wasn't quite what solved the problem but i remembered that i had a bit of salt water on my phone recently and spraying the charging port with an anti-oxide spray solved my problem, do you mind if i ask, how is the charging port related with the volume or/and speakers?

How to Reduce AI Vector file size: An Adobe illustrator Tutorial
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5m3TKrXE3g
My AI file size was not going under 1 MB even by deleting extras so what I did is I opened a raster small image of 100 kb with Adobe Illustrator. then deleted the image and saved the file as AI. Then I Copied the whole vector content of original AI file that was bigger then 1 MB with ctrl+c command and pasted it in the new file created with raster image. and saved it. Wow the new file size is only 137 kb now.

anyone who has any idea why ps cs 5 doesn't open quick tim files , please tell me.
    thank you

PS doesn't deal with compressed files that well. Try to convert it in an external tool like Quicktime Pro or one of the gigazillion free video converters based on ffmpeg....

How can i reduce the pdf file size? I need to send via email, at the moment its at 10mb

Reducing PDF file size or Optimizing PDF is the feature that is supported only by Acrobat Pro (desktop app that is not free).
    Optimizing PDFs (Acrobat Pro)
Free Adobe Reader products (Reader XI desktop, Reader for iOS, Reader for Android, Reader Touch for Windows 8, etc) do not offer the capability.

  • How do you import a Widescreen Quick Time File captured by Final Cut Pro?

    Hi
Here's my workflow: I captured HD 1440X1080 footage in Final Cut Pro. FCP creates a folder of Quick Time Files in a Scratch Folder. A month ago, I had no problem importing the Quick Time files into IMOVIE HD 6 and preserving the widescreen format.
Now, for some reason, when I import the same files into IMOVIE HD, it is squashing the image (stretching it vertically) and leaving a gray bar on the left side of the screen.
Can IMOVIE HD import Widescreen QT files created by FCP? If so, how?
    All help appreciated.
    Phil

iDVD does everything automatically for you. With DVDSP and Compressor, all steps must be done correctly. The trade off is that you achieve better quality using Compressor over iDVD.
    1. First thing to do is export your sequence as an uncompressed interlaced 25i 720 x 576 16x9 Anamorphic QT.
    2. Determine your optimal bitrate by using a bitrate calculator. Here's a good one. Remember you need to account for all video on the disc, including motion menus.
    http://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm
    3. Bring your down converted QT into Compressor and use the manual settings set your bitrate. Also encode out a Dolby digital AC3 file. These files take up less bandwidth than uncompressed audio. Also remember to match your upper fiiled dominate filed order as well in Compressor. This must be consistent throughout the export and encoding stages.
    4. bring your encoded video and audio files into DVDSP and author

  • Importing a Quick Time file  into FCP 5.14 file is not recocnized

Hi, I purchased a stock footage in quick time format from istockphoto. Importing it it gave me an error that the file was unrecognized. It plays OK on me desktop using Quick Time. I exported as quick time file, using DV NTSC... no luck.
Than I exported as AVI with DVD NTSC compression, and it solved the problem.
Why FCP reads AVI (Windows format) but doesn't read his own... I am puzled!
If anyone knows the answer, I will appreciate.
    thanks,

First of all thank you all you guys for your help! Secondly Apple webmasters should fix the problem with solve and helpful buttons. It gives an error.
iMovie has no problem to read this file.
Yes Final Cut Pro is a sensitive tool. This is not the first time I am running into this kind of issues. Last week I created a particle Illusion effect as HD mov file
Importing into FCP it showed me only 1/4 of the screen. I fixed this by creating the AVI file. The conclusion is (I am maybe wrong) that Apple should work on the quick time issues.
    Thanks again!

  • Quick time file disappeared

Does anyone know why my Quick time file just disappeared off my iweb page. When I click on the quick time file the amount of time of file shows but no video media? This happened a couple of weeks ago but I inserted a second file and it worked. Now even my desktop file will not play, however all other quick time files do play?

It's possible the desktop file is corrupted. Try a simple restart and/or repair permissions & then restart your computer.

  • Reducing a SWF file size / creating "instance names" for website loading time improvement

Im hoping someone clever can help...
What i have done so far:
    1) Created a flipbook using indesign CS5.5 that contains approx 25
images (embedded PNG's), these need to be good quality as this is a
portfolio - I'd also like to keep the 'page curl' effect. This makes the SWF generated cira 25MB.
    2) created a Flash website "wrapper" to hold the above flipbook and add
features such as "bookmarks", links to other sites and forward/backward
    page navigation buttions.
The issue we have is that because the flipbook SWF is 25MB the site
    load time is slow.
What can be done to speed this up without compromising the image
    quality?
    1) Is there a way to make the indesign SWF smaller?
    2) is there a way in indesign to properly give each page an
"instance name" so that they can be controlled from flash and therefore
I can load each pages image as and when needed.
    any other ideas?
(If you'd like to visit the website to view the loading issue http://www.lizblackdesigns.co.uk)
    Thanks

these need to be good quality as this is a portfolio
The approach to your portfolio website seems very outdated and will not help you in the near future. Flash is being used less and less with the increase in Mobile Devices being used to access the internet - a large chunk of which include Apple's iDevices which don't support Flash. This alone is a reason not to do it, however there are a few other big issues with the method you have chosen.
There is no "content" on your website for any search engine to find. No text. No meta data. No image alt tags. No titles. Nothing. In other words, your website will not be found by the people you are trying to attract. I would imagine for a portfolio site, you may want to re-think this approach.
The way the Flash file was created is the worst possible way to add Flash to the web as you have only embedded image files - and this is your entire site?! You could have included some text, which would have been viewable by search engines, and used color shapes to increase quality but lower filesize.
The filesize meant it took me over 1 minute to get off your home page. The average internet user will leave your site if you do not keep them interested after 5 seconds. In other words, you should have content of interest viewable within 5 seconds of load time.
If you are set on keeping the Flash setup for your website, re-build using as much text, color shapes and lines as you can (vector work in other words) and do not rasterize/export as image. This will drastically reduce load time and increase quality. You will also want to divide your file into sections and create more than 1 HTML page so that the browser only loads a bit at a time. You might also want to set a maximum size container for the Flash file as on my browser, it looks extremely pixelated and is very large, but unclear.
I would suggest looking into HTML5 if you are keen to create a website that can be viewed by around 98% of the web surfing people and it will also mean you can use an image slider (or similar) to show good quality images of your work. This will aid your site in being found by search engines but will also allow you to update sections of the site without re-publishing the entire Flash file.

  • Turning a quick time file into a downloadable fild

I recently created an audio book as an mp3 file using iTunes and audiobook builder. Love the final result but the large size of 63 MB makes it not practical to post (takes a ton of time) and then to have users download.
iWeb returned a suggestion of exporting the file in quick time which I did. I now have two files: one for dial up connection (8.5 MB) and low broadband (20 MB)
The problem is that when I go to the web pages where these files live, I am given the choice of playing them in real time as opposed to downloading the files.
Any suggestions on how I can post as downloadable files in mp3 format?

You have probably not optimized your .mp3 file and an export to other formats could drastically reduce the file size.
Remove "stereo" from your file and you cut the file size in half.
Reduce the bit rate from 128 (standard) to 64 and you cut the files size again by 50%.
Use the AAC audio codec (.m4a) instead of the ancient .mp3 file format.
You can use iTunes / Advanced menu to reduce the file size and a text based link to its URL which your visitors can then right click to download.
