Reference external library movieclip in library with AS3

Hello, i am able to load at runtime a library asset in flash
cs3. i do this by setting up its linkage property and setting its
base class. for eg
Class: MyButton
Base: flash.display.MovieClip
then in my document class, say i had
com.kofi.InitializeTemplate, my class looks like this
package com.kofi
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import MyButton;
public class InitializeTemplate extends MovieClip
var testButton:MyButton;
public function InitializeTemplate():void
trace("the button class has been called");
testButton = new MyButton();
addChild(testButton);
however, once i bring in an external library asset(which i
have already exported and set it base class etc), i am unable to
call this shared library asset with as3. anyone know what i am
talking about?

Hi Sigiswald,
well it seems SAP also considers that a bug, if you go to the Service marketplace -> Support Packages and Patches -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S -> Entry by Component -> Development Infrastructure, there is a SAP_BUILDT SP09 Patch 1 referring to note 993799 which says:
"Jar files, especially from development components with type "External Library" are not assembled into the WDA archive for Web Dynpro development components."
Are you using the original SP09 version or this patch?

Marc

  • ADF application unable to reference external jar deployed as library

    I am using jdeveloper 11.1.1.3.
    My problem is as folows : I have a JAR deployed in weblogic 11g as a library and i want my ADF application to refer it as this inhouse developed library has some utility methods in it.
    In my ADF application i have referenced the library in weblogic-application.xml as below..
    <library-ref>
    <library-name>beansCBB</library-name>
    </library-ref>
    But still my my jsps are failing to compile
    Please guide me on how to provide library reference while deployment.
    Zeeshan

    Hi Zee,
    Try to select the "Deployed by Default" option on the Library.
    Just to see if the application is working on the server.
    If It is working, it seems that the application can't find the library.... on the weblogic server.
    Then unselect the "Deployed by Default" option on the Library.
    And try to add
    <library-ref>
    <library-name>beansCBB</library-name>
    <exact-match>false</exact-match>
    </library-ref>
    in the "weblogic.xml" file
    Please confirm that the name of the Library (on the server\Deployments) is "beansCBB".
    When you have deployed the library on the weblogic server, did you select the same "server" (when asking to Select deployment targets) ???

  • Unable to load external image into iOS app with AS3

    Just trying out Flash Builder for iOS app development and have run into a problem right off the bat with loading an external image into an iOS app.  The actionscript is very simple (this was basically my Hello World attempt), and I'm hoping someone here can explain where I'm going wrong.  This code works in Flash Pro, and works when launched on the desktop from Flash Builder, but doesn't work on my iOS devices.
    Here's the code:
                                  var container:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
                                  addChild(container);
                                  var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
           imageLoader.load(new URLRequest("http://www.google.ca/intl/en_ALL/images/logos/images_logo_lg.gif"));
                                  imageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, startListener);
      function startListener (e:Event):void{
                                                 container.addChild(imageLoader);
    Any thoughts on why this won't work would be greatly appreciated!

    I had the same issue, and modified my domain policy file as specified  in http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/fplayer9_security.html#_Configuring_URL_M eta-Policies but the loader is not loading the file. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

  • PC to Mac with external drive as main library

    I recently switched from PC (Dell Inspiron) to Mac (MacBook) and am having some serious difficulties getting my iTunes to cooperate.
    I used an external drive as my main iTunes library on my PC. I would like to continue doing this with my new Mac because my library is quite large. I know it is not as simple as pointing to the folder on the external HD from within the Mac. I have read all the posts out there and none of the address my issue specifically.
    To reiterate, I currently am using an external HD with my PC that contains my iTunes library. I am now using my Macbook as my main computer and want to continue using the same external drive because my library is too large to import to the internal HD. How do I get the iTunes on my MacBook to read (point to?) the external drive where all of my media (music, podcasts, TV, Movies, Games, etc) reside without losing any information and/or files?
    Please help...thanks!
    Brian

    I pretty much did the same thing (switched from PC to Mac) and had the same issue and this is how I set it:
    go to preferences then click on the advanced tab, then on general
    then for the folder just click 'change' and set it to be what your folder with all your music is on (on the external). I unchecked the 'copy files to itunes music folder...' as well (not sure this is needed, but didn't want to experiment it copying everything again)
    then I went to File > Add to Library, selected the same folder and done. It will take a bit as it goes through the whole library. I guess after this you could go back to preferences and check that copy to itunes folder so any future additions get put on the external.
    I hope that helps.

  • How do I create an External Hard Drive iPhoto Library

    How do I create an external Hard Drive iPhoto Library? Will it remember faces and places, and the camera settings?  I have over 20k photos. Most pictures are already stored in files on my external hd, but everytime I need to edit, I need to import the pics back into iPhoto. Is there an option for "editing software" outside of iPhoto? I do not want to store pictures on my computer, but I do like the "faces" feature! Please help!

    Sure it can be UnDone in the same way it was done. By Copying the iPhoto library back to the original location or any other location on your internal drive and then Repointing iPhoto to use that Library as you did when you moved it to the external.
    Have no idea about the thumbnails being blurry as I only use iPhoto for testing and helping others. I find iPhoto lacking in many ways and I already own Adobe Lightroom so I use that on my Mac.
    I wouldn't think the thumbnails wouldn't be any different. They are the same files and even if the external is slower the Thumbnails should display the same way not differently.
    I also do not allow any of the "i" programs, Photo & Tunes, to Copy my image or music files into their folder structure. I have them set to Leave the Files where they are, as I copy them to my hard drive where I want them Not where Photo and Tunes want to put them, and then just create a Library Database of them. So if I wanted to I could have just the actual image files on an External drive and then have iPhoto just create a Library database reference to them.
    One Note though.
    If you move the Library, including the actual image files, to an external and then start iPhoto without that external connected iPhoto will then Create another Library in the normal Default location that is blank and then you will need to point it to your original that is on the external once you reconnect that external.
    That is one reason I don't care for iPhoto. Apple has made it fairly easy for novice users, placing everything in their User folder but IMHO that is not always the best way to do things.
    Also at any point in time, even with the external connected, iPhoto will lose that association to the external Library and create another in the original Default location. Which will look like all your images are missing.

    Thank you for responding. I understand. After reading quite a bit about this procedure, can it be undone? So many out there have stated that everything slows way down and the thumbnails are blurry. What is your opinion?
    Do I first create a New File on the EHD and name it "iPhoto Library"? Then paste?
    Most pictures are in folders on my EHD, how do I move them to the new library?
    Thanks!

  • Using an external HD for my library

    My laptop's 60 GB HD is full with my library. I have the whole library backed up on an external HD, how do I make iTunes reference the external HD for my library?

    Thanks for replying Rick, the answer is both. I've been using the ext HD for backup, but now I'd like to remove the library from my laptop, keeping the iTunes software on my laptop, but have it reference my G: drive (external HD) for the music. Is that possible? If I remove the library from my laptop's HD will it default to the external?

  • Adding Movieclips from Library

    Hi, I want to add 20 Moviclips at a time by Loop, from
    Library. so can any body tell me how could it possible.
    I can add one MovieClip just by as:
    var mc:Movieclip = new MovieName();
    But i need some string type method which can add multiple
    MovieClips from Library at a time.
    in AS2 there was a method for attchMovie, in which we can add
    Linkage name with Name0, Name1, Name2 as 'Name'+i.....
    So is it also possible in AS3 or not?

    Hi NedWebs,
    Atleast now i found the solution of adding multiple diffrent
    MovieClips from Library by AS3 code:
    Code is like this
    package com{
    import flash.display.*;
    import flash.utils.*;
    public class Main extends MovieClip {
    public function Main() {
    for (var i=0;i<3;i++) {
    addMovieFromLibrary('Sample'+i);
    function addMovieFromLibrary(mcIName:String) {
    var tMC:Class = getDefinitionByName(mcIName) as Class;
    var newMc:MovieClip = new tMC() as MovieClip;
    newMc.x = 1+Math.random()*170;
    addChild(newMc);
    For above code you just need to place Smaple0, Sample1,
    Sample2 in library.
    Nothing is impossible :)

  • How can I synchronise my iTunes Library on my iMac with the one on my MacBook?

    How can I synchronise my iTunes Library on my iMac with the one on my MacBook?

    Carolyn:
    I have almost 10,000 songs/cuts in my music collection and, because of the poor quality of iTunes music, very few of those songs/cuts come from iTunes.  My music came from me ripping it disc by disc over hundreds of hours. I would like to be able to add a disc and have both the iMac AND the MacBook music files (plus an external backup) be updated.  Surely there is an intelligent, relatively easy to implement procedure for doing this. Perhaps I am missing something but your response doesn't seem to address the sync issue with all its implications...

  • ITunes are not seeing my external drive as the library

    Hi, I'm struggling to get music on my iPhone.
    All our music is stored on an external hard drive that we use with our iPods. My wife and I recently got iPhones and we're trying to put some music on them.
    iTunes is setup to get the music from the hard drive but for some reason I can not access it any more. My problem is that iTunes are not seeing my external drive as the library.
    Here's how I've set my iTunes up:
    Edit - Preferences - Advance
    iTunes media folder location: J:\Lacie_iTunes (that's where the music is stored)
    Now this worked perfect with our iPods but for some reason iTunes is not seeing the music anymore.
    In iTunes, if I click on Library and then Music all I get is a screen to either download music (with tutorials) or import CD's (with tutorials).
    I'm using iTunes 9 and Windows 7, the iTunes version on my wife's laptop is an older version but I do not think that that is the problem.
    Any advice would be MUCH appreciated!

    Setting the iTunes Media folder in preferences only moves the content to the external drive. The library database files will still be at the default location of ...\My Documents\My Music\iTunes. When you move the portable drive from one machine to the other you'll have access to the content, but not the database hence you get an empty library and the prompt to add some content.
    See this recent post for pointers on how to rearrange the database & media folders so that everything is truly portable. I don't have time just now to rewrite the instructions for your specific drive & folder names but if it's not clear I'll pop by later and write them out again.

  • PC to MAC, external hard drive, getting library recognized

    I purchased a new MAC Powerbook Pro (new mac user). I disconnected external hard drive from PC with all my music on it, plugged it in to the mac and told iTunes on the mac to point to music directory on the external drive. Nothing happened. So I drag the hard drive over into the itunes area (when itunes is launched) and it begins copying music (to itself?) and organizing music. Seems all my music is now recognized on the mac version of itunes but all of my playlists, purchase history, play history and everything is gone. Can I get that from my pc to mac version of itunes? How?

    Go back to your PC and get the ITL (itunes library database) file from it. Put it on the Mac.
    Right-click on change the properties so it will open using itunes.
    Hold the Option key down while starting itunes and choose that ITL file. It should have all your metadata....assuming the organizing stuff didn't mess up the paths.

    Now I am trying to upload music back to a new Windows XP computer - I have new itunes version.
    First I moved/copied the itunes directory whole to the new computer - then opened itunes and the library.itl and library.xml reverted to 5 and 11kb
    Then tried just moving those two files - still nothing
    Help - as I have over 28MB of music I am trying to recover.
    Thanks,

    The "missing file" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
    Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. I can provide a step by step guide if you give me the two paths.
    Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.
