Hello experts,
I'm looking for reference model for procurement, particular for process model and business object model. I hope to find EPCs and the business objects associated to the process in this epc`s. If I understand correctly, what process model is.
Can someone help me?
Thank you

• High level process model for a Pulp & Paper Industry

Hi:
Someone can help me?, i'm looking for a organizational reference model for a pulp & paper company, under the alignment for best practices in to SAP R/3
I need know what is the best model for this kind company (chain value, macro process, business process, sub process...)
Thanks in advance
Omar Perea

hi,
thanks for yor points.
at that time it was opened.for me also it was warning the same, any way iam providing some more info on it. pls have a look on it.
Pulp and paper industry facing IT modernisation needs
Today most pulp and paper industry companies face serious financial challenges to increase return on investment and improve capital utilisation.
Companies are working to improve the efficiency of their supply chains and thereby reduce working capital, increase transaction velocity and improve inventory turnover. Mergers, acquisitions and alliances are reshaping the pulp and paper industry. Although the pulp and paper industry has invested heavily in IT systems, a large variety of old systems is often complex, inflexible in regard to integration and difficult to operate. As they reflect past organisations and business models, the streamlining of business processes is difficult.
Mega trends in the pulp and paper industry IT.
The pulp and paper industry is stepping into a new phase of business evolution driven by consolidation of industry, globalisation and ever-increasing competition. These market drivers are forcing the pulp and paper industry to put a greater focus on cost efficiency. These focuses are creating totally new challenges for the organisation, specifically in the IT area.
IT is increasingly becoming a commodity. This is a result of product standardisation and the popularity of off-the-shelf-products that facilitate the economies of scale. This phenomenon is also supported by increasing utilisation of competence resources in low-cost countries.
Managing change becomes more and more difficult. Very often companies face the need for new changes before they have seen the benefits of the previous ones. The cycle of change is short and the transformation environment becomes very complicated. On the other hand, IT becomes the tool in forcing business changes to happen. Often the only practical way to roll out new processes and practices is through the modernisation of information systems.
Like many other industries, the pulp and paper industry is concentrating on providing digitalised self-services as part of their business development.
Industry background
Since the consolidation and globalisation of the pulp and paper industry, there has been increasing pressure to continuously improve both its internal and external efficiency. In the large pulp and paper mills, production management systems typically consist of several different systems, which might also be from different suppliers. Systems are often isolated islands, which are successful in managing information of their own area but they lack the comprehensive information exploiting and sharing. This has resulted in a complex and inflexible architecture of legacy systems. These legacy systems are expensive to manage and difficult to develop to meet business requirements.
This pressure has led to massive IT investments and a continuous rebuild of the IT environments in order to meet efficiency challenges. Although many pulp and paper mills have invested a lot in building up their business supporting IT, especially Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, the return on investment is often difficult to measure. There is a lot of potential to improve usability of systems by harmonising business processes and integrating the systems more efficiently in order to better support actual business needs.
Most pulp and paper industry companies have thus come to a point where a more radical rebuild and renewal of the entire IT and network environment is required. Fortunately, the conditions for this have improved over the last few years, due largely to an increasing range of commercially available application platforms adopted for the pulp and paper industry, the acceptance of common industry standards, and the evolution of refined integration and migration methods.
Renewing and harmonising the company’s operations and IT systems is still, however, a demanding undertaking. Securing continuous operations, while at the same time replacing the core systems and processes, requires a high level of expertise in pulp and paper industry processes and information technology. To complement the in-house competence, the pulp and paper industry will need to establish partnerships with outside solution providers and system integrators. To minimise risks and keep control of business-critical technology, new delivery models will be a necessity.

• Dif between Industry Reference Model & Process Integration Pack (PIP)

What is the difference between Industry Reference Model & Process Integration Pack (PIP)?
As I understand PIP is the prebuild integration solution for a busines process like "Order to Cash". Then what Industry Reference Model is?
From some of the AIA architectural diagram, I found Industry Reference Model is one more layer on top of AIA PIP reffering same business processes like "Order to Cash", "Procure to Pay" etc.
Like other key AIA components, does Oracle provide any artifacts/library for Industry Reference Model to customer?

Industry reference model is an optimized business process view of a business and technical analyst(s). The optimization could be focussed to meet the requirements of a particular domain (industry specific or vertical solution) or the solution could be horizontal (across the domains). This model would be generic and independent of the participating applications of an integration solution.
PIP is the pre-build integration solution for a business process between two or more systems that implements the industry reference model (could be vertical or horizontal).
For example:
(1) "Order-To-Cash" PIP is a horizontal solution (independent of the industry/domain) bridging the Siebel CRM & E-Business Suite applications. If we have to develop another PIP for the same business process between two other participating applications, we would use the same Industry reference model because Industry reference model is independent of the participating applications and domains/vertical.
(2) Similarly "Order-To-Bill" PIP is a vertical solution (for Telecom domain) bridging the Siebel CRM, Oracle BRM & E-Business Suite OM. If we have to develop another PIP for the same business process for another vertical, then we should have another optimized industry reference model targeted for that vertical.
--> We are delivering the industry reference models along with foundation pack : FP 2.2.1 onwards (look at the chapter-10 of the installation guide. This would explain the location of BPMs and procedure to view those diagrams).

• Create a VC Model for BEx queries with Cell Editor

Hello All,
I am trying to create a VC Model for BEx queries with Cell Editor.
BW Development Team has created a BEX query with complex restrictions and calculations using Cell Editor feature of BI-BEX.
The query output in BEx analyzer is correct where all values are being calculated at each Cell level and being displayed.
But, while creating VC model, system is not displaying the Cells. Thus, no VC Model can be created.
I have executed below steps:
1. Created a VC Model for BEx Query - ZQRY_XYZ
2. Create Iview -> Create a dataService -> Provide a Table from the Output
In the Column field system is not showing any of the Cells (present in Cell Editor)
Please help me to solve this issue.
Thanks,
Siva

Hi
If 'Cell Editor' is been used then that query must have the structure in it. You have to select that 'structure' object in your 'VC Table'.
If you select that then you will get the required result in the output. This structure will be the structure where 'cell reference' is used in BI query, You have to select that structures name.

• Physical Data Model For GL

Hi Experts,
I am new to Oracle Apps, I need Data Model for GL tables..from wherer we can get it.
Please suggest !
Regards
S

Hi,
As you aware major part of GL is based on Chart of Account, Calander (GL Period) and Currency, you can check all tables related to these.
You can use below query to get those tables :
select from all_tables where table_name like 'GL%' and owner='GL'*
and table_name not like 'GL_ALLOC%' and table_name not like 'GL_CONS%'
Please do refer the doc suggested by the other expert in this thread..
Regards,

N.B : We believe you put a GL question in a wrong folder/Thread (Procurement) :).. you could have received a better response had it been in Finance folder.. :)

• Issue with CIF Integration model for Transaction data

Hi Gurus,
I have activated the Integration model for PO & PReqs by location wise and i assumed that transaction data is online and we need not to re activate for any new Product / location combination got created in system.
But the issue is that every time a new material got created, we need to deactivate and activate the integration model for Transaction data to get the transaction data into APO.
Is there any way to avoid the following exercise as it is taking very long time for activation.
Please guide me as it is very urgent.
Thanks for help in advance...
Thanks & Regards,
Jagadeesh

I assume 1,60,000 location products are spread around different locations.
Rather than one Integration Model it is better to have multiple Integration Models.
For example: one for each region like North America, one for Europe, one for Asia (assuming you have countries spread across the world). Or create Intgeration Model by Country.
This way you reduce the number of Products in an Integration Model.
It is very important to have manageable set of Integration Models. Let me give an example - you have some problem hence the single Material Master Integration Model is down (inactive). At that time any PP or PDS transfer will not have the Header or COmponent products transferred to APO (in effect PDS/PPM cannot be transferred). If you are creating or converting Planned Orders they will not transfer to R/3 (as Header product is not part of active intgeration model).
But if you have country spefic or region specific Integration Model - only that country is affected not all.
In fact you should have other integration model (like PDS/PPM, Procurement Relationships, Planned / Production Orders, Sales Orders, Stocks) in same manner i.e. either Country(s) specific or group of countries by region. The risk of models getting inactive or taking too much time to activate after regeneration easily outweighs management of more number of Integration Models (compared to one Global integration model per object).
Hope this gives you some direction.

• SAP Business Workflow and The Workflow Reference Model

Hi Experts,
I try to map the Business Workflow with the Workflow Reference Model of WfMC.
Interface 3 represents the communication of SAP's Workflow Engine with "Invoked (external) Applications".
My Questions are:
- which applications, tools can be invoked (Webservices, Group Ware Products)
- and which component realizes Interface 3?
(can I say that interface 3 is realized with different steps like web-activity,
or the normal activity-step (WebFlow Service Handler) ? )
Or is there a certain technology that is representative for realization of interface 3 ? e.g. WfXML or SOAP?
Thanks in advance

• Lot Size Planning for Procurement

Hi guys
In our company we work with minimum lot sizes for procurement, and we need to configure minimum lot sizes for procurement in the SNP optimization run. It´s posible to do it in SNP, pls can someone tell me how to configure this in SNP?
David

Hi David,
I am glad to hear that.
Regarding your performance issue: it is very usual to have long runtime when using discrete model.
The complexity of this model is much higher than a linear problem; so the optimiser takes time to find THE optimal solution.
However there is a lot you can do to make it better:
1. Split your model: instead of running 1 big optimiser, run serveral smaller one in parallel.Ensure your model are all independant (e.g. no common product or resource)
2. Use decomposition: (product/ time/resource; based on your scenari) to simplify the porblem, hence speeding the solution.
3. Set a maximum time
You do not have to wait for THE optimal solution. The optimiser can sometime very quickly find a very good solution; the last hours are spent "fine tuning" it. Potentially, you might not be able to see the difference between a 4h job and the 15H one).
Hence SAP advises to set a maximum runtime when working with discrete model.
The question is how to define this maximum time to optimise the ratio solution quality / runtime.
Answer: test it, check the result. Be aware that perfomrance testing for the optimiser can take a while.
4. fine tune you optimiser setting
There is a couple a finetuning that can be done to improve performance, especially for discrete model.
I will not be able to help you woth that.
As far as I am aware only the SAP optimiser team has the expertise to help here.
I strongly recommand to contact them; their help is often invaluable. They will also help you to define the 3 first points.
I hope this will help you.
Thanks and Regards

• Reference text for PS CC

Is there a link for the reference PDF for Photoshop CC?

Well found Pierre. Most of the CC Reference manual PDFs seem to be in Help > What's new, but I hadn't been able to track down the Photoshop CC version. There's a lot of CC learning material available, I'm pleased to say. For all the negativity we've had around CC, it's actually a very nice package. There was even a rumor floating round yesterday, of an Adobe rethink with the full CC subscription cost coming down to just $30 a month, with CS6 owned for life after three years:

• Use of Aris models for Guided Procedures or VC possible

Hi,
I know that Aris can export BPEL for importing to XI.
What are the capabilities of using Aris for NetWeaver to model for more UI-oriented processes. Is it possible to use ARIS models for GP or Visual Composer?
Thanks.
Dick

Hi David,
The answer to your 1st question is NO. Till NW 7.1, there is no clue on this.
To your 2nd question, there is no noticable enhancement on the GP side in NW 7.1. You can refer to the Developers Guide -> Developing and Composing Applications -> Designing Composite Processes with Guided Procedures section in SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment Library for further reference.
Hope this helps.
Finally I fully agree with you regarding XI and GP.

• Datawarehouse model for purchasing

Hello Experts
I am implementing BI reporting for the Procurement business (Purchasing and Accounts Payables). So on the Purchasing Side, I plan on the following data warehouse model
1) EDW layer - 1st layer of ODSs with the straight mappings from the extractors - Purchasing header, purchasing item, schedule line, account assignment, requisitions etc.
2) Data mart layer - 2nd layer of ODS with PO doc no, PO item no and schedule line no as the key which combines data from the header, item and schedule line ODS into one ODS and then I will also look up other acct assignment and requisition fields from the the corresponding EDW layer ODSs in the end routine
3) Reporting Layer - InfoCubes and Multiproviders designed for reporting requirements.
What do you think? Is this the right way to go about the data model for Purchasing
Appreciate your response
Thanks,
