Reference query variable with space in it

We are trying to display the results of a query where we have
no control over the query to be able to do any aliasing. One of the
query variables is called"Mail List" and has a space in it. >:-(
Is there a way to have ColdFusion resolve that variable within
pound signs like normal? I thought maybe #[Mail List]# but that
didnt work. I know I can alias this out in the query but like I
said we cant. Is this even possible?

can you post your code?
you did replace "yourquery" with your actual query name,
didn't you?..

  • BW Authorizations - Query variable with processing mode as "customer exit"

    Hi,
    Iam new to BW authorizations and have not yet worked on customer exit before. I was going through the documentation at various sites but I could not get the end to end description on how the query process( when using a variable for an InfoObject) works in case of customer exit.
    Let's assume that I am using  a query variable with processing mode as "customer exit" and at the exit I  write some code to extract user's authorizations from a z table. if this is the case, then when an end user runs a query,how will the the system know what value needs to be filled in the variable for the requesting user. Are the user details  also sent to the code along with the query variable? If so how. If I mis-understood the process then forgive me and let me know the correct process.

    Hi!
    welcome to SDN!
    customer exit variables need programing by user. so if you create a customer exit variable, you got to right a program which extracts values into this variable. we can do what ever we want in program, SAP will not deal anything ´with customer exits.

  • Connecting Query variable with Table Values

    Hi all,,
    I'm trying to connect a query variable to table column contents. The problem is, there is an additional Date as input which is single value. As a result, the query does not get executed. It gives an error that it expects a single value for the date field.
    Am I doing something wrong. Please guide.
    Regds,
    Srinivasan.

    Hi Srinivasan,
    Sorry but i didnt got exactly what you are trying to do? You have query to which you are passing multiple values from a table. or are you selecting a single row in the table and passing it to the query? How is the variable defined in the query?
    Thanks,

  • READURL Call on Macintosh, won't pass variables with spaces???

    Here is my code and the problem. I am trying to passing a
    tablename and a classname with READURL and the PHP script takes the
    info and returns to me my classid. This works wonderfully on the
    PC, but on the MAC, when I click on a classname with a space I get
    back a empty string as my return value.....here is my code from AW
    and PHP......If you can help I would readlly appreciate it.

    http doesn't like spaces in URLs.
    This clicking on a classname -- is that happening on a web
    page, or in AW?
    Either way, you should urlencode the link. Replace any spaces
    in the URL
    with + signs, either manually on a web page, or by using the
    replace
    function in AW [replace("", "+", string)]. Then, in your PHP
    script, you can
    change the $_classname assignment to include urldecode:
    $_classname = urldecode($_GET["classname"]);
    This should return it to the multi-word format.

  • How to call a variable with a loop count in it

    First - I have a variable called "stages" this is a number
    that can vary. Because it can vary I want to run things in a loop
    based on the number that comes up as the stages variable amount.
    Second is a loop
    <cfloop index="riderCount" from="1" to "9">
    Next, I have a query
    <cfquery name="getPts" datasource="#application.dsn#">
    SELECT *
    FROM fantasy_racers
    WHERE proName='#pro#''
    </cfquery)
    ** Note: variable pro is set before the query **
    I have colums in my table: pts1, pt2, pts3, etc. all the way
    to pts25 for each pro in the table.
    Now to the heart of the matter
    I want to get the amount in each column. EX.: #getPts.pts1#
    but since the number of stages can vary I don't want to hard
    code for 25 outputs when there may only be 7
    so how can I call the column amount but utilize a ridercount
    in place of the number
    #getPts.pts
    ridercount#

    You can reference query variables in an array-of-structures
    notation:
    myQuery["MyColumn"][row]
    so you could do something like this:
    #getPts["pts" & riderCount][1]#
    Combine that syntax with Query.CurrentRow and
    Query.recordCount and you should be able to put a loop together
    that solves your problem.

  • BEx: How to change a Query Variable that is not visible in Filters List?

    Hello Experts,
    Good day, I'm currently editing an old query, I am changing the Query Variables with new ones, but I found one variable that I cannot replace.
    Please see the screenshot below, in the Query Properties Window [Variable Sequence Tab (right side of picture)] the Variable that I am trying to replace (Unit) is visible. But when I look for the variable in the "Filter Tab" (left side of picture) under Characteristic Restrictions, it doesn't exist in the list.
    How can I find this Variable and replace it with a new one?
    Other reports are still using this variable so it will impact the other reports if I simply edit the variable. So I need to replace it with a new variable instead.
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi,
            SInce you are searching for a variable for Unit, look into below screenshot and navigate to the variables.
    First click on drop down and select 'Entry for variable' then you will get lisl (after you click on drop down in 'Target Unit' drop down option.
    Normally these type of variable called 'Formula Variable' try editing any of the formula and locate the option as shown below,
    Hope it helps! don't forget to update the final solution and mark the correct/helpful answers.

  • Currency Translation not working with "Time Reference from Variable"

    We have created several Currency Translations using RSCUR with a fixed "Key Date".  All have been working fine until we got the request to allow a variable date for the exchange rate date.  I have built a variable on 0DATE which I am putting a default date value into using user exit.  This default date is the SAME date as the fixed "Key Date" which we have been using.  Unfortunately when we use the "Time Reference from Variable" option and use this new variable, no currency conversion is taking place, instead it only shows the original currency values.  I am 100% sure that my variable is getting a value and it is the same date we are using for the fixed "Key Date" value so both methods should be using the exact same exchange rates.  The documentation that I can find states:
    ●      Time reference: The time reference for the currency translation can be either fixed or variable.
    If the time reference is fixed, the time at which the exchange rate is determined is independent of the data. You have the following options:
    ○       You can establish that the time reference be determined upon translation.
    ○       You can select the current date.
    ○       You can specify a fixed date as the key date.
    ○       You can specify any variable that exists for InfoObject 0DATE.
    ○       You can establish that the query key date be used. This is determined in the query settings.
    In my case I am only switching from option "You can specify a fixed date as the key date"=(Key Date) to "You can specify any variable that exists for InfoObject 0DATE"=(Time Reference from Variable).
    What am I missing?  Any help is appreciated.

    I neglected to mention that we are calling this currency translation through a WAD button using the SET_CURRENCY_TRANSLATION command.  I did do a test by applying the currency conversion within query key figure.  This seems to work.  So it appears the issue is with how the WAD is processing the variable, not the query.  When I display the variable in a drop down item within the WAD it does have the default value that I have assigned in user exit.

  • Replacement Path variable with query

    Hi all,
       I have a replacement path variable in a query that use the result from other query (a pre-query), both of them use the same variables, exactly the same, although the query ask me for the values of the variables twice (for the query and for the pre-query), is possible that the query ask me for the  variables only one time (re-use the same values for both queries)?
    Thanks,
      Javier

    If possible use only the variable with replacement path on the query. Since the Pre-query has all the same variables as the main query, the user would enter all the required input on the pre-query one time. The result of the pre--query feeds the main query. If the main query has no other selection variables except for the replacement path, the selection screen will not pop up again.
    Thanks

  • Error in query " Value '' of characteristic  is not a number with  spaces "

    Hi Gurus,
    I am facing an error in a query with the description:
    Error
    Value '' of characteristic  is not a number with  spaces
    System error in program SAPLRRK0 and form RSRDR;SRRK0F30-01-
    Description
    This error is occuring in Production system only, the report is running fine in Development environment.
    The error is also visible when I execute it in RSRT, I am not able to find the cause of error through RSRT.
    Can anyone please help me with the possible solutions.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Juergen,
    thanks for the input, I tried to run the report after loading the master data but still there was no improvement.
    I am not sure why this kind of problem is rising, some of the similar reports on same infoprovider are running fine.
    Please let me know if you know anything about the cause of error.

  • Query variable : selection option with no interval

    Hello,
    Is it possible to define a query variable as selection option, with no interval (like in abap).
    I am in 3.X version.
    Many Thanks in advance,
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,
    This should be possible through multiple single value variables, but to ensure that the user has not in input the same charateristic value for exclusion and selection you may choose to write customer exit at the background.
    I think interval and select option would allow 'To values'.
    So I was wrong in what I said before. SORRY
    However multiple single value would not allow exclusion, I think.
    Your scenario would only be possible by excluding multiple single values in variable type select option and process the variable using customer exit, to trmove all to Values.
    But you are right, you cannot have your scenrio handled , I think.
    ( ie multiple exclusion in from values with no To Values )
    One more way is restrict your characteristic by two input ready variables, one select option for exclusion and have a customer exit to delte all inclusion that were input accidently and one multiple value ready for input variable.
    But, all in all, there would be no straight drive through this I think.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Sunmit.

  • Query variable for InfoObject with texts

    Hello experts,
    In the BW I have an InfoObject of type NUMC 19 that stores tasks master data and does have texts, we assume that the InfoObject is called Z_TASK. The texts represent the multi lingual task names. I need to build up a query that filters on the task names, e.g. all tasks between A* and C*.
    When I use a variable in the query, the variable takes the key field values (NUMC values of the InfoObject Z_TASK).
    My questions are:
    1. Is there a possibility to solve this problem using query variables?
    2. Other solutions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
    one possibility would be to create a ods object and post the master data to that ods. Include the text (description) into the datafields of the ods. Enable BEX reporting for the ods. Create a Query on it with a variable selection on the text. Now go back to your other query and create a variable for your task infoobject. Use the prequery on the ods as replacement path for z_task. That should do the job.
    kind regards
    Siggi

  • Using collections / Bind variables with a PL/SQL functio returning a query

    I have this code, which is supposed to assign collection variables as column names
    FOR i in 1 .. Collection_count -1
    LOOP
    SELECT c002 into :P341_M1 FROM APEX_collections WHERE collection_name = 'MA_SKILLS' AND seq_id=i;
    SELECT c002 into varholder FROM APEX_collections WHERE collection_name = 'MA_SKILLS' AND seq_id=i;
    vQuery:= vQuery || 'SUM(decode(label, ''Aware'', product_'|| i || ', ''Expert'', product_' || i || ', ''Proficient'', product_' || i || ', ''Advanced(Demo)'', product_' || i || ' )) as ';
    vQuery:=vQuery || varholder || ', ' ;
    END LOOP;
    I've tried &P341_M1. , :P341_M1, ':P341_M1', varholder
    When I try '&P341_M1' it returns the whole SUM(decode... line as the label
    Basically Im having a hard time using bind variables with the PL/SQL returning a query...anybody?

    Ok so working through this problem more I have realized that the problem is using the for loop i as an index value
    This will get a value:
    SELECT c002 into :P341_M1 FROM APEX_collections WHERE collection_name = 'MA_SKILLS' AND seq_id=2;
    But this won't
    SELECT c002 into :P341_M1 FROM APEX_collections WHERE collection_name = 'MA_SKILLS' AND seq_id=i;
    I'm in the for loop, and use the i variable in other places within this loop...Is there a reason why I can't compare seq_id to i?
    My new code as follows:
    FOR i in 1 .. Collection_count -1 --apex_application.g_f01.COUNT - 1
    LOOP
    varholder:=i;
    SELECT c002 into :P341_M1 FROM APEX_collections WHERE collection_name = 'MA_SKILLS' AND seq_id=2;
    SELECT c002 into varholder FROM APEX_collections WHERE collection_name = 'MA_SKILLS' AND seq_id=4;
    vQuery:= vQuery || 'SUM(decode(label, ''Aware'', product_'|| i || ', ''Expert'', product_' || i || ', ''Proficient'', product_' || i || ', ''Advanced(Demo)'', product_' || i || ' )) as f';
    vQuery:=vQuery || :P341_M1 ||i||', ' ;
    END LOOP;

  • Troubles with linking subreport with an SAP Query variable

    Hi there
    I have a main report mith a subreport placed in the detail section.
    Both reports base on an Bex Query and have Query-variables. While linking the subreport i can not select the parameter which is based on the Bex variable in the subreport.
    While connecting other parameters /variables i learned, that Crystal cannot determine the type of data of a Bex variable, right?
    Because of that i built formulas which convert my values into strings and these strings can i connect in the subreport linking.
    Unforntunately this does not work with this on variable. In Bex this is a Number. I tried to link with the corresponding field in the Detail section (which is a number, too) and i tried with the string, but both does not work. I can not select this Parameter.
    Any idea how to determine the datatype of this Parameter (based on Bex Variable) i have to provide?
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

    Hi Ingo
    Well, i knew that thing with the same types already, as i mentioned it in my post.
    In this problematic case I want to connect a field of the detail row to a prameter in the subreport. This Parameter is coming from a Bex Variable. I treid with values of oll types - it doesn't work. How can i determine the type that Crystal assignes to the Be variable?

  • SQL Query not working for column names with spaces

    Hi People..
    We have a strange situation wherein, the column name in the database table has a space inbetween like "Constant Name". While we write a JDBC statement code with the select query we get an exception for invalid syntax. It will help us in a great way if you have anything to inform us on this..
    Thanks
    Prabz

    Using case sensitive names and names with spaces in it is not a good practice.
    However, I believe the SQL standard accounts for this with quoted identifiers. I believe the syntax is
    . select "My Field1", "My Field2"
    . from "My Table'
    Have also seen the following although it might be MS Access specific.
    . select [My Field1], [My Field2]
    . from [My Table]

  • How to work with space stored in variable?

    hi
    Im trying to store a file path in a variable and then use that variable to execute with PS
    for ex: if o would like to list "c:\Program Files\common files\"
    I use this
    $IR = "dir $([char]36)Env:ProgramFiles""\common"+$([char]32)+"files\"""
    i have also tried
    $IR = "dir $([char]36)Env:ProgramFiles""\common files\"""
    no matter what syntax i use when i run
    "Start-Process powershell.exe -ArgumentList $IR -nonewwindow"
    i get error "dir : Cannot find path 'C:\Program Files\common' because it does not exist." so why does PS not understand my attempt to use " to enclosure filepath with space? filepath without space works great to list with this.
    thx in advance
    Edit:
    gv ir gives me
     dir $Env:ProgramFiles"\common files\" and a copy and paste in PS with that works just fine
    Mr

    Hi Mr,
    If you want to execute .exe file in command, please refer to the script below which use cmd psexec as example:
    Start-Process -FilePath 'powershell.exe' -ArgumentList '-command &"$Env:ProgramFiles\''My test\psexec.exe'' \\computer ipconfig /all"' -NoNewWindow
