Referencing a Class from a Variable

sorry I also forgot to mention that I'm putting in values for _gameModel.scroll_Vx, and Vy from another class, the scroll class. When I try to reference the var from other classes it works but not the FirstEnemy Class.

  • Referencing utility classes from a war file

    How do you reference a utility class from a war file? I tried adding the class to the deployment plan descriptor, however I still get a ClassNotFoundException.
    Thanks,
    Will

    To use the utility classes from a war you have to place them under the web-inf/classes directory.
    webApplication(WAR directory)--->WEB-INF--> classes (put your utility classes in this directory)

  • Referencing main class from created instances

    The quick setup:
    My Main class creates a JFrame and adds a few custom JPanels. One of the JPanels has a mouse listener and responses to the mouse clicks, and it works great.
    I'd like to know if there's a way to have that JPanel invoke public, non-static methods from the Main class (the class which created it) without passing a reference for the instance of the Main class to the JPanel when it's (the JPanel) is created. Or is that the way you're supposed to do it?
    A (sort of) similar question: can a component invoke methods of it's parent container? If so, how?
    Thanks so much,

    Hi Rhesus21,
    A (sort of) similar question: can a component invoke methods of it's parent container? If so, how?Yes, simply this way :
    public class MainFrame extends JFrame {
        private MyPanel panel;
        panel = new MyPanel(this);
    public class MyPanel extends JPanel {
        private MainFrame frame;
        public MyPanel(MainFrame frame) {
            this.frame = frame;
    }

  • Referencing host class from a thread?

    Hello, I need some help with the logic of this. How would I reference the host class (the class that created the thread) from the thread. I want to send a string from a thread (where it is grabbed from the command line) to the class which made the thread.. Thanks!

    Just like when any object of one class needs to access another object. Somewhere you'll have to pass the "host class" (actually "host object reference" is more close) to the thing that implements Runnable or extends Thread (however you designed it), so that the object can hold and use a reference to it.

  • Accessing a variable defined in one class from another class..

    Greetings,
    I've only been programming in as3 for a couple months, and so far I've written several compositional classes that take MovieClips as inputs to handle behaviors and interactions in a simple game I'm creating. One problem I keep coming upon is that I'd love to access the custom variables I define within one class from another class. In the game I'm creating, Main.as is my document class, from which I invoke a class called 'Level1.as' which invokes all the other classes I've written.
    Below I've pasted my class 'DieLikeThePhishes'. For example, I would love to know the syntax for accessing the boolean variable 'phish1BeenHit' (line 31) from another class. I've tried the dot syntax you would use to access a MovieClip inside another MovieClip and it doesn't seem  to be working for me. Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks,

    I would approach it in much the same way as you would in java, by making getters and setters for all of your class variables.
    Getters being for returning the values, Setters being for setting them.
    So you would make a get function for the variable you want to access ala:
    function get1PhishBeenHit():boolean {
         return this.phish1BeenHit;
    Then to access the value of that variable from outwith the class:
    var result:boolean = ClassInstanceName.get1PhishBeenHit();

  • How to read static variable defined java class from flex?

    This is a beginner question. If I use remoteClass to map a java class and a flex class, how can I access a static variable defined in java class from the flex code?
    Thanks!

    Static propeties are by default ignored in the blazeds for serialization. You can try using another global property in the java bean which maps to the value stored in the static property( Hopefully it should work)
    eg,
    public String instanceValue = ClassName.staticValue;

  • Error-- Referencing classes from project 1 in project 2 using libraries option

    Using JDev 9.0.3
    I'm struggling with an error that's occuring that I know should not be...
    I have two projects (SessionUtils & TradingSumStruts).
    SessionUtils has 4 java files all of which have a package name of: com.arca.sessionutils.
    TradingSumStruts has 3 java files all of which have a package name of: com.arca.tradingsum.
    One of the java files in TradingSumStruts imports a class from SessionUtils
    import com.arca.sessionutils.SessionUtil;
    In TradingSumStruts project I have created a new user library and called it: SessionUtilsLib. This lib points to the classes directory of SessionUtils, and the src directory of SessionUtils in the same workspace.
    I've shut down the oc4j server, deleted any existing class files for the above two projects, and recompiled both projects. When I run the app, I get the following error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/arca/sessionutils/SessionUtil
         void com.arca.tradingsum.TradingSumInfo.<init>(javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest)
              TradingSumInfo.java:67
    when I attempt to call SessionUtil.xxxMethod().
    I have double and triple checked my spelling, my library entries, my class files, and even re-booted my machine.
    ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Don't use libraries for this. Define a project dependency for your project using the project properties dialog. This will automatically include your project classes without hardcoding the path into a library.

  • How to call a Java class from another java class ??

    Hi ..... can somebody plz tell me
    How to call a Java Class from another Java Class assuming both in the same Package??
    I want to call the entire Java Class  (not any specific method only........I want all the functionalities of that class)
    Please provide me some slotuions!!
    Waiting for some fast replies!!
    Regards
    Smita Mohanty

    Hi Smita,
    you just need to create an object of that class,thats it. Then you will be able to execute each and every method.
    e.g.
    you have developed A.java and B.java, both are in same package.
    in implementaion of B.java
    class B
                A obj = new A();
                 //to access A's methods
                 A.method();
                // to access A's variable
                //either
               A.variable= value.
               //or
               A.setvariable() or A.getvariable()

  • How to load a class from a jar not in the classpath

    I have a gazillion jars of class files that I want to access dynamically in an application. I don't want to list every jar. The jars also contain images. With images you can explicitly point to the jar with and load the image with createImage....
    "jar:file:/C:/myjarlocation/myjar.jar!/pathtoimage/image.gif"
    Is there a similar string you can use when creating classes on the fly in a classloader with getClass().forName("classname") ??

    Hm, if you are not in an EJB container or some other environment that won't let you create a classloader, you might create a new URLClassLoader with a path pointing to those JARs. You will probably want to use your normal application class loader as the parent loader, so any referenced common class definitions are found during the load.
    Note that - in order to make use of the classes - you will normally need to know that they implement some interface (or inherit from a common base class) to which you can cast their instances. These Interfaces/base classes will have to be packaged for normal loading by your application class loader; else the cast will trigger an error during compile time. After this, loading them dynamically during runtime is no longer an option since they are referenced directly in the sourcecode.
    Alternatively you might do away with interfaces/base classes and call methods of dynamically loaded classes also dynamically: via reflection. But I guess this is too cumbersome for what you might have in mind. Also it has more invocation overhead, less type safety and handling all these exceptions wrapped in InvocationTargetExceptions can quickly become a nightmare too...

  • Importing a class from another context?

    Hi JSP techies,
    Im using RESIN and having a simple problem of figuring out how to import classes from another context, if Im using the right word.
    ie.
    My .jsp files are under $home/resin/doc/test dir. And in the jsp file, I would like to import a servlet class or a plain java class. But the servlet classes and all other classes are located under $home/resin/webapps/project/WEB-INF/classes/a/b/c
    Hence when I say
    <% page import="a.b.c.*" %>
    I get an error saying "a" not found.
    1. When I say "servlet classes are in a different CONTEXT", is that right? or is it just another directory?
    2. How can I make the jsp file import the classes from the servlets class path?
    Note: Ofcourse, when I copy the package to the
    $home/resin/doc/WEB-INF/classes dir, everything works fine. But thats simply not an efficient way to get around. Could anyone clear my doubts on this regd.?
    Thanks in advance.
    Arun

    Oh... I get it now. I'm sorry, I had you poorly misunderstood. You are trying to import servlets from another web app or servlet context. I would suggest you put servlets that are common to all web apps in the system classpath and not tie them to any particular web app. In other words create a package directory structure from the system's root directory or any where outside of any web apps and point the system classpath to the beginning of that directory structure. I have a similar thing going with Tomcat. I have a folder in my root called Java_Class which is in my classpath. I build all common utilities in this directory. So I have a com/craig/web structure that holds my AppServlet which is in package com.craig.web. This servlet is visible to all web apps via the Windows classpath. Servlets particular to an application like say an MusicOrderProcess servlet would reside in a package under the webserverhome/webapps/MusicStore/WEB-INF/classes directory where webserver home is the home directory of the webserver you are using. I've tested this across webservers as well (orionserver and Tomcat) and it works.
    From the prompt you include in your posts I am guessing that you are running on UNIX. Move your common servlets out of their respective web apps and into a common directory structure. Configure the UNIX $CLASSPATH (or is it $classpath?) environment variable to point to this sturcture and you'll be on your way!
    Post again if you have more questions!

  • Can't import class from SWC

    I have created a swc file.  I can import most of the classes from it in my project, no problem.  One class, though, simply won't import.  I've tried copying the swc directly into the project, referring to the source folder of it, etc.  No dice.  The swc builds just fine so there's no error in the class.  The first few lines of the class look like this:
    package com.thismoment
        import flash.events.Event;
        public class TakeEvent extends Event    {
    I should be able to do import com.thismoment.TakeEvent; right?  It doesn't work.  I keep getting "1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: TakeEvent."
    How do I find out what's going on?  Is there a way to dump out all the classes in a swc?

    Jason San Jose wrote:
    In package explorer you can expand the SWC under the "Referenced Libraries" node. That will show you the classes in the SWC (except any that or overridden by other SWCs in the library path).
    A few more things to check:
    - Is build automatically on? Try cleaning the library project?
    - Is the class selected in the project properties > flex library build path > classes tab?
    Jason San Jose
    Software Engineer, Flash Builder
    What is "package explorer"?  I can't find a reference to it in the documentation.  I'm using Flex Builder 3 on Mac OS X if it matters.
    Build automatically is on.  I've cleaned every project multiple times.
    I don't have a Flex Library Build Path -> Classes tab.  I have a "Flex Build Path" entry in Project Properties, and on the Library Path it shows my library added to Build path libraries, link type: merged into code.

  • How to call a method in IMPL class from one context node

    Hi, I´ve been only study the posibility to access a method in the IMPL class  from one context node class...CN## without using events, is there a way to call it ??? I don´t have it as requierement just learning thanks !.

    Hi,
    Try this by following this you can get the custom controller instacne in the view context nodes, for your requirement you can keep the view implementation class instance instead of cuco..
    To get the custom controller instance in Context node getter/setter method:
    1. Declare Cuco instance reference variable in ctxt class..
    2. Set this cuco ref. in the Create context node method of ctxt class:
    try.
    gr_cucoadminh ?= owner->get_custom_controller( 'ICCMP_BTSHEAD/cucoadminh' ). "#EC NOTEXT
    catch cx_root.
    endtry.
    you can avoid this step as this is not needed in case of view isntance
    3. Assign this instance to the respective context node Create method using:
    BTStatusH->gr_cuco ?= gr_cucoadminh.  " here assign the view implementation ref. " me" instead of gr_cucoadminh
    Here gr_cuco is the ref. variable of custom controller in the respective context node for eg. BtstatusH
    Sample implementation of this can be found in
    ICCMP_BTSHEAD/BTSHeader ->context node BTACTIVITYH-> attr ->GR_CUCO(instance of cuco)
    Cheers,
