Changing default hardware passwords

When my Fios was setup I tried to access the page to change the factory password on my Westell A90.  When I tried to type in the password everytime I entered 1 number it showed 3 being typed.
I didn't have time at that moment to dive into it and of course never got back either.
I tried today and the same issue is happening and I have never gotten logged into the wifi controls.  I know at some point I read on the Verizon site that this was some kind of security setup but I can't find the document again.
How do I past this?
Solved!

I answered my own question.  Maybe I should have looked in the FAQ first.
I think maybe I had just typed O instead of 0 the first time.
Sorry for wasting everyones time.

  • How to change default admin password on Cisco Aironet 1040

How do I change the default username and password on the Cisco Aironet 1040. There is a default set and I want to change that to secure the device. I've checked the manual and can't seem to find the directions. Any ideas?

    Hi Brian,
If this AP is already registered with a WLC then you can change it via WLC.
In WLC GUI, go to Wireless -> Select the AP -> Credential -> Override Global Credential-> Update username/pw/enable pw
In WLC CLI, you can configure it like this. If it is for all APs, then select all, otherwise AP name.
    (WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username admin password Cisco123 secret Cisco123 ?
all            Applies the configuration to every AP that does not have a specific user name.
Enter the name of the Cisco AP.
(WLC3) >config ap mgmtuser add username password secret
    (WLC3) >save config
Are you sure you want to save? (y/n) y
If it is Autonomous AP you can configure using the "username xxxx password xxx" IOS command

The manual does not provide furthe action to troubleshoot.
    is the device wiht defect?
    Any hint would be appreciated.

    Hello Denmark calling.
    Solution for you’re:
ThinkPad USB 3.0 Secure Hard Drive problem.
In order to set the Admin pass, you will have to do the following
    1. Press 0+OK for 5 sec, enter "12345678" and OK       = BLUE LED   (Admin mode)
    2. Press OK+9                                                                        = BLUE LED flashes
    3. Enter admin code with correct fashion, and then OK = BLUE LED flashes   (and now most important)
    4. Re-enter admin code, and OK                                        = BLUE LED.
This must be done before attempting to change user password. (Obvious reasons)
    For User code change.
This can be changed by accessing the admin mode first = BLUE LED
    And then
    1+OK                                                                                            = BLUE LED flashes
Re-enter user code and OK                                                    = BLUE LED
For User code and Admin code there is not mentioned any reference online reference supplied by Lenovo, which tells the new proud owner the correct way to alter standard codes.
But let it be said that in my humble opinion this is a (almost) great product (SSD would make the difference for me personally)
    Hopes it helps

  • Changing default database and application passwords

    Hi,
We have default passwords for our newly configured Oracle ERP (R12).
I have a concern regarding the changing of default password. Does changing the default passwords will have any effect on normal working of ERP and database.
I know that we shouldn't change default APPLSYSPUB password. What about the following default passwords?
    a) Default accounts having default password in database (DBA_USERS):
    CTX SYS
    OLAPSYS
    DBSNMP
    DMSYS
GL (oracle users .e.g AP, GL, AR)
    APPLSYSPUB
    OUTLN
    PERFSTAT
    SYS
    b) Default accounts present in Oracle Application (FND_USERS) :
    IBE_GUEST
    OP_CUST_CARE_ADMIN
    ASGADM
    MOBILEADM
    APPSMGR
    IBEGUEST
    OP_SYSADMIN
    AUTOINSTALL
    WIZARD
    IEXADMIN
    ASGUEST
    IBE_ADMIN
    ERP version : 12.1.2
    Database Version: 11.2.0.1
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Gaurav

    Hi Gaurav,
Yes as stated by Srini, It's highly recommended that you change tyhe default password in order to safeguard your instance by outside threats.
But please be cautious as you cant change these accounts as "alter user <username> identified by <new password>", but rather use FNDCPASS utility. I advice you to check on the TEST system before implementing on the PROD instance if you dont have prior experience using FNDCPSAS.

  • How to change default Ovi Player store ...

    Hi,
I need help from you people.
I had installed Ovi Player. Whenever I try to open Ovi Player, the default store gets’ open is "India". I change the store location to "Germany". When I do the search for particular music, it will again take me to "India" store instead of "Germany" store. In addition, most annoying is that I have to re-login but my user id and password will not work as its different store. Also when I go via music.nokia.de and try to login, it open Ovi player and since default location is "India", it takes me to India store and my login credentials do not work.
I ask Nokia care on how to change default Ovi Player Store location but they are unable to provide any good answer.
I already un-install / re-installed but won't work. Do any of you have answer to my problem? I want my default Ovi Player location to be "Germany" instead of "India".
More information, my regional settings have location as “Germany” and language as “English”.
    Please help.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had got message from Nokia on how to correct this issue. This had solved the problem. Below is the mail from them ...
    Dear Chakraborty,
     Thank you for your response.
This error is sometimes caused by a corrupted MDataStore.db3 file used by the Ovi Player.  This file will need to be deleted with the Ovi Player closed.  Then open the player and the datastore file will be rewritten by the application:
Close Ovi Music Player and delete the MDataStore.db3 file:
     Vista C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
     XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase\MDataStore.db3
Both of these locations are in hidden folders.  So, to view them users will need to:
Open Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View > Show Hidden Files and Folders
Once Ovi Music is opened again the MDataStore.db3 file will be rewritten to this folder.
After that manipulation try to install the Ovi Player once again:

  • In mail, my mail is saved as an outlook file by default. I want to change default to mail?

In mail, my mail is saved as an outlook file, i want it saved as a mail file? Change default, how?

Thanks, but this is what's happening:
    In Mail, Contacts, Calendarts>Add Account
    Add a MobileMe or Other?
If I choose MobileMe, it asks for my MobileMe account. If I enter that info, it tells me I already have that account set up, which I do.
So I clicked the Create Free Apple ID button on the same screen, below.
This goes to a New Apple ID page
    I enter location and DOB
This goes to a New Apple ID page
I enter all of the information as required, then click Done
    I get an error:
    Cannot Create Apple ID
If you have an @me.com email address, sign in using your MobileMe password
This takes me back to where I started without a solution.

  • How do I change the admin password in SJSWS 7.0?

I've googled this, searched the forums, read the manual, but I haven't found anything that explained how to change the admin password for SJSWS 7.0. So, right now I'm stuck with "adminadmin" as the password, which I think is the default since I don't remember specifying that during install. Clearly I can't use this in production with the default admin password... sorry if this is a rtfm question, but I really didn't see anything in the manual about changing the admin password. Thanks!

You could use the following CLI command:-
    wadm> set-admin-prop --set-password
    More information about the command:-
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3283/set-admin-prop-1?a=view
You could also use Administration console-
    - Login to the Administration Console and click on the Nodes tab
    - In the Nodes page, click on the Administration Server link within the Nodes table
    - Go to "Administration Server Preferences" section in the General page and change the password

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select

  • Default userid/password for Essbase 7.1.5

Hi All,<BR> <BR>I've just now upgraded to Essbase 7.1.5. At the time of installation I gave the 'NAME' as 'James Galt' and system password as 'password'.<BR>Earlier on every upgrade it used to recognize the old security file and I could login to a fresh upgrade using my old id/password. But this time it does seem to recognize the essbase.sec file.<BR><BR>could somebody please let me know the default user-id password for version 7.1.5, so that I can atleast login and try creating some users.<BR><BR>Any help in this matter s highly appreciated.<BR><BR>Thanks in advance,<BR>[email protected]

There's no such ting as a default user ID and password for Essbase. The system user ID and password is the one you create when you install Essbase. IF you want to reset and start from scratch, delete the essbase.sec file and launch essbase.exe from \essbase\bin. You will be prompted to enter a new user ID and password. Hint : it's not good practive to use someone's name as the system ID. BE aware of a couple of things if you do this, any users, filters, applications, etc you had we'll be gone and have to be re-created. If this was an upgrade from the previous version, upon install completion, you would run the essbase.exe and it would prompt you for the existing password. If it's not working, chances are you are using the wrong password. Remember, the system password might not be the same as the admin password. For instance at my location, when I did the upgrade I entered the admin password and it didn't work. I asked everyone and they said that was the only password. After digging little deeper I found that a couple of years ago it was determined the passwords were too generic so they changed them. While they changed the admin password, the system password stayed the same. After digging, I found out what the old password was and sure enough I was able to fire it up. If you don't have existing apps and users to worry about then just start fresh, but if you want to salvage what you had, then you will need to find the right password. One more thing, if you have Essbase running as a service, disable the service and run it in console mode until you get this straightened out. <BR><BR>HTH

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Default Hardware Inventory Classes

Does anyone know where I can find what default hardware inventory classes are set out of the box for SCCM 2012 R2? A vendor setup both our test and production systems and decided to select a bunch of classes (including all asset intelligence classes) based
on his own opionion. I am trying to go back to scratch and then add only what we need.
    Thank you,

I don't believe this exist. What make you think that they change it? What are you not getting that you want to get?
Personally I would leave the defaults along and add those items that you want as extras.

The first thing you should do after acquiring a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc, hold down the C key at the chime.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, it should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
