Refine edge and edge detection serious issues, getting blurred and lots of contamination
Hi guys :)
a few months back I bought a grey background after being reccomended as being easier to do compositing, I was really pleased but now I have run into some big issues and was wondering if you could spare a few moments to help me out. so I've taken the image of my model on the grey background, the model has white blonde hair, simillar to this image here, http://ophelias-overdose.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=192#/d393ia7.
Now what I have been doing is using the quick select tool, then refine edge, when I get to refine edge that's when the issues start for me, when I'm trying to pick up the stray hairs around the model to bring them back into the picture, I'm finding that the hair,when it does come back into the picture is quite washed out and faded, and almost like it has been re painted by Photoshop CS 5 instead of being brought back into the picture, when I paint over the areas with the edge detection tool. Also, even if I check the decontaminate colour box, it doesn't make a blind bit of difference!!
I'm on a bit of a deadline and am so alarmed I'm getting these issues with the grey background, how are these problems occurring?? can you please give me some idea, I would be really greatful. I have been you tubing, and going over tutorials and reading books to NO avail :(
I just keep getting this issue, even when I have tried editing a test picture from a google search of a model with brown hair! Still getting this issue.
this tool is supposed to be amazing, I'm not expecting amazing but I'm atleast expecting it to not look like a bad blurred paint job, with contamination.

Im working with high resolution photos in NEF, I am trying to put the model into a darker background but i havent even got that far as I cant even cut her out.
Decontaminate doesnt seem to be working at all to be honest, it makes little difference when i check that box.
Im getting nothing close to the image of the Lion, thats brilliant!

And this is what I keep getting results wise, see around the hair there is still rather a lot of grey contamination and the hair literlly looks painted and smudged.

Yoga 13 Bluetooth (and Wi-Fi) serious issues
Yoga 13 Bad Wi-Fi and Bluetooth – almost giving up (and giving back)
I have purchased the Yoga 13 a week ago, and everything was fine. EXCEPT, I experienced problems to connect to the public Wi-Fi. I get 5 seconds of Wi-Fi connected, and then 5 seconds of "limited connection", and again "connected" for 5 sec., "limited" for 5 sec., and so on. I convinced myself it was because of the large number of people connected at the place I have been at. But now I am sitting here, with just a few people, and it seems they are all connected well, and only I get the 5 seconds cycle.
But it wasn't for this issue that I started to feel frustrated with my 1 week old Lenovo Yoga. It's the Bluetooth issue that really bothers me. I am trying to use Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth 5000 mouse. I have to use it, since I have to use both USBs for other devices. At first it worked fine. Just the random disconnections everyone on the net are talking about. I tried everything: I set the power management of the realtek rtl8723A chip so it won't be able to turn off the BT. I also set the BT to automatically search for devices under services.msc management, which supposed to help reconnection after sleep. Each time it seemed like the problem was solved, until the next time it randomly disconnected.
So I have updated my machine. First, I've updated the BIOS from CN52 to CN55. I don't know if it's relevant, but I mention it anyway. Them I've updated the realtek drivers, according to the recommendations I found in Lenovo support forums. Things only got worse.
Now the PC either (1) can't recognize the mouse at all, although it recognizes my cell phone, and my cell phone recognizes the mouse; (2) or it recognizes the mouse, and then asks me to pair with the mouse using a code (!!) as if the mouse is some kind of a laptop. Even then, if I press Next (using 0000 or 1234 as a code results with nothing), the PC starts some driver installation, calling the mouse HID compliant, and usually the process terminates itself before it finished. Only once for a dozens of attempts, does the PC recognize the mouse properly, installs it and the mouse works – only it became incredibly laggy, barely usable. It is hard to believe it worked fine from the beginning, and any update just made it less usable.
Now, trying to downgrade the Realtek driver results with the same problems. I tried various versions of this driver – no success. I also made a system restore once, to get back to the point before updates, but the same result: no mouse recognition / all sorts of problems I mentioned above.
I am frustrated. I bought this computer for an urgent work, and already spent 5 or 6 hours just to make it work, and still no success. I am just a moment from giving up. Any ideas?

eg:
1) Accept my UK iPhone in India courier it to Purchased Place (Repaired it)
2) Accept my UK iPhone in India Take some difference assign me India iPhone.
3) Accept my UK iPhone in India give me any option to ugreade to iPhone 5 (Indian).
4) Accept my UK iPhone in India give me some Receipt (Courier me My new iPhone from UK).
5) Approve my VISA for going to UK again as it not easy for INDIAN to go there with some kind of this Reason.
6) Give the Postal Address where we can send our APPLE to get only Service and they can send it back to us if it got reparied.
As no one would like to go UK only to Purchase APPLE..
There are some personal reason they have to go to Other countries for ... and If some one is FAN of APPLE like me would do the same mistake that I have done..

Serious issues with icontrol and garageband 09
i have to admit i'm pretty peeved right now. after reading the comments on this thread:

i decided to buy an icontrol off ebay and look forward to full functionality with garageband 09.
now that i have the unit i'm not sure what the posters on the previous thread were smoking as the unit has major problems under G09 which none of them mentioned. here's a list to get started and that's after only playing around for an hour or so:
1. no control over EQ with rotaries!!
2. pan adjustment on certain tracks makes the playhead jump around the screen!
3. holding SELECT and pressing Effect 1, 2 EQ does nothing (its supposed to enable/disable effects)
4. using rewind on the scrub wheel will automatically start playing the track (makes positioning impossible)
5. sometimes the wrong track is selected and does not correspond to the LEDS on the unit.
so that's just for starters. if there's something i'm doing wrong here please jump in as i'm about to repackage the thing and send back.

The standard Visual EQ works fine. The 4 regions are controlled by the 8 rotaries. R1 controls left to right and R2 controls up and down for region 1. Region 2 is controlled by rotaries 3 and 4 in the same manner, as is the reminder os the regions and rotaries.
Further to this, if I insert the 31 band AUGraphicEQ, all of the sliders can be controlled by my iControl. To cycle through all of the sliders you have to use the up/down arrows (Track/Parameter) arrows on the iControl.
However, if you switch to the 10 band version, nothing works. This seems to then affect the 31 band view when you switch back to it. I have not figured out how to make the 10 band view the default view. If this is possible it may make a difference.

I have never had this happen to me. The only time the pan knobs do not work are with some of the synth preset sounds that appear to have panning automation attached to them.

This is actually an incorrect use of this feature. Once you have selected a track, you push the Track info button on the iControl. Once pressed you will see a range of the selection buttons light up which will correspond to the effects you have loaded. Its then that you push the sel button to enable or disable the effects. The full list is printed in the manual. There is one bug however, and that is that sel 5 does not toggle the EQ as stated. You can fill all of the effect slots and you will have control of enable and disable via the sel buttons EXCEPT for the preloaded VisualEQ.
What does NOT work is holding the Option button while pressing the EQ button which is supposed to enable or disable the EQ, as well as Effect 1 & 2. This 'Option' button seems to change its behaviour at times though...... another bug.

My jog wheel does not work like this. If I spin the wheel while its in play then it continues to play from the new position. If I stop play then rewind, I then need to hit play to listen from the new position.

This has never happened to me. Mind you, I hardly ever use more than 8 tracks. How many tracks do you have going when this happens?
There are definitely bugs with the iControl, but I cannot replicate some of what you encountered. All of the main functions work fine for me..... I am still glad I got the unit as it has helped a lot with the right arm dominant use pain I was getting. I am annoyed that its not FULLY functional, but when I do encounter the odd AU that does not align the screen sliders with the iControl's rotaries, then its no biggy to grab the mouse.
As an aside, I could not find any up to date info on how the unit fits with the latest versions of GB. I might have a crack at this and post it here or get someone to host it for me. Let us know what other issue's you have.

I have been using LPX for a few weeks now and I have run into a large number of issues, some of which are completely game-breaking. I was shocked to see that there is no support contact at Apple for Logic Pro- I was simply redirected here.
My issues include-
Logic's visual meters lagging while 3rd party AUs cope just fine
Several severe instances of automation triggering late, particularly and somewhat cripplingly involving the gain plugin (and yes I do have sample accurate automation on the correct setting)
Inconsistent behaviour playing back samples in library (samples will sometimes not play at all and I have to press keyboard shortcut again, or sometimes will play after a 1-2 second delay)
Windows simply disappear after changing desktop 'spaces' and must be maximised by right-clicking icon in dock
Plugin windows are sometimes unresponsive and must be closed and reopened

It seems this very experienced user has done some thorough testing and discovered massive problems with Logic's automation and plugin delay compensation. Not good.

I have been using iTunes for years to connect to the radio and just recently tried to tune in and an error sign pops up stating " A error occurred while contracting the radio tunning service. Check your internet connection or try again later." There's no problrm with my internet service so what's up?
You are probably using an old version of iTunes with which the stream link service seems to have stopped working for many users of older iTunes. No, Apple makes no comment about this kind of thing. It may reappear, it may not (it has been dead for over a week now). Your solution is to upgrade the operating system version on your computer from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 so you can run a newer iTunes, or live without. You can still open streams if you can get the URL, and you can then save them as playlist items.

Hello PC users! I have installed iTunes on my laptop confirmed correct installation by Apple tech and iTunes will not connect. Pswd and user I D have been confirmed, no error messages it just says connecting to iTunes store and it never does. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling using Apple downloads. Still nothing? any clues?

What happened is it got wet. Water and electronics don't go well together. You need to switch it off and bury it in bag of dry rice for a week at least. This may or may not work - but continuing to try to use it in its current state will kill it for sure. You can enquire at an Apple store about out-of-warranty replacement, depending on where you are.

I was able to get my Apple TV working again by downgrading the firmware following the instructions in this message:

In case that message disappears, here's my translation:
1. Connect your Apple TV to your computer via USB. Don't plug in the power cable.
2. Download the older 5.0.2 firmware from Apple here:
5.0.2 (Apple TV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (Apple TV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3. Open iTunes and select the Apple TV. Hold down the option key and press the restore button at the same time.
4. In the dialog that opens select the firmware that you downloaded.
5. The restore process will take a few minutes. Once it's done plug your Apple TV back into your TV. If the date and time message persists just press the menu button to skip it. This got mine working again. -

Hello, i have a power pc g5 running 10.3.5 i have a issue not being able to get the correct display to show. When it start up it comes up with a screen size of 800x600, which i can not change or select the main display, also the computer computer does not shut down or restart unless you hold the power button. I recently installed Mavericks and now my computer refuses to lock after sleep. Instead of a box that asks for a password to access the computer again, it just opens up back to where it was before sleep. In fact, I can't even get my screensaver to work. I have the screensaver set to one minute (to attempt to get it to work) and it wouldn't even come on. The sleep/lock screen is set to ask for password as soon as it's woken. Same goes for when I open my laptop after it's last use. No password, just instantly on. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how can I fix it? Thanks!

This is beyond frustrating. I just wasted 70 dollars between a new battery and gas for my ipod 80gb classic. It was having major issues syncing and freezing with itunes. I tried everything possible and noticed that a lot of people have been having the same issues with their ipod classics as well. I must have restored it several times and now it just totally bit the dust. Now I have to shell out 130 dollars to send it in to apple to be rebuilt/fixed. This is nonsense and I just cant believe apple isn't doing anything to address this issue. My ipod was doing great for about nearly 5 years and now this. I even down-graded to itunes 10.7, but by the time I had it set up to try, that's when my ipod totally failed and will not even come on. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.
