Refresh database table

Hi,
I've got to find out if a table is being refreshed daily. Apart from looking for scripts that could be doing the refresh (which I've not found), is there a data dictionary view that could tell me and if so what column in the view do I need to look at to tell me if it's been refreshed today or when was the last time it was refreshed.

Since you are on 10g, you could potentially use the ORA_ROWSCN pseudocolumn. That gives you an upper bound of the last SCN (system change number) that caused a change in the row. Since this is an increasing sequence, you could store off the maximum ORA_ROWSCN that you've seen and then look only for data with an SCN greater than that.
By default, ORA_ROWSCN is actually maintained at the block level, so a change to any row in a block will change the ORA_ROWSCN for all rows in the block. This is probably quite sufficient if the intention is to minimize the number of rows you process multiple times with no changes if we're talking about "normal" data access patterns. You can rebuild the table with ROWDEPENDENCIES which will cause the ORA_ROWSCN to be tracked at the row level, which gives you more granular information but requires a one-time effort to rebuild the table.
Another option would be to configure something like Change Data Capture (CDC) and to make your OCI application a subscriber to changes to the table, but that also requires a one-time effort to configure CDC.
Oracle can watch tables for changes and when a change occurs can execute a callback function in PL/SQL or OCI. The callback gets an object that's a collection of tables which changed, and that has a collection of rowid which changed, and the type of action, Ins, upd, del.
So you don't even go to the table, you sit and wait to be called. You'll only go if there are changes to write.
It's called Database Change Notification. It's much simpler than CDC as i mentioned, but both require some fancy admin stuff. The good part is that neither of these require changes to the APPLICATION.
The caveat is that CDC is fine for high volume tables, DCN is not

The below ABAP code is fetching WorkItem Id from the table SDOE00D00000.
But the problem is , when i execute the script for the first time, it gets me the old data and when i execute for the second time, it fetches the latest data from the table.

After REFRESH, the cached object is not consistent with the database table. Why?
I created a JDBC connection with the Oracle database (HR schema) using JDeveloper(10.1.3) and then I created an offline database (HR schema)
in JDeveloper from the existing database tables (HR schema). Then I made some updates to the JOBS database table using SQL*Plus.
Then I returned to the JDeveloper tool and refreshed the HR connection. But I found no any changes made to the offline database table JOBS in
JDeveloper.
How to make the JDeveloper's offline tables to be synchronized with the underling database tables?

Once you create an offline table, it's just a copy of a table definition as of the point in time you brought it in from the database. Refreshing the connection, as you describe it, just refreshes the database browser, and not any offline objects. If you want to syncrhnonize the offline table, right-click the offline table and choose "Generate or Reconcile Objects" to reconcile the object to the database. I just tried this in 10.1.3.3 (not the latest 10.1.3, I know), and it works properly.

MV Incremental Refresh on join query of remote database tables

I am trying to create a MV with incremental refresh option on a join query with 2 tables of remote database.
Created MV logs on 2 tables in the remote database.

Primary Key is on EMPNO for EMP table and DEPTNO for DEPT table.
Actually, I have been asked to do an feasibility test whether incremental refresh can be performed on MV with join query of 2 remote database tables.
I've tried with all combinations of ROWID and PRIMARY KEY, but getting different errors. From different links, I found that it's possible, but cannot create any successful testcase anyway.
It will be very much helpful if you can correct my example or tell me the restrictions in this case.

Hi,
After displaying ALV report output, if you want to update database table based on your selected record, then use the below logic in your User_command subroutine.
You will get the index of the selected record in rs_selfield-tabindex. using this index read the respective record from the internal table and move corresponding field to the table fields and then update.

How-To "Refresh a table of data after inserting or deleting"

I'd like to say a word on the how-to article "How to refresh a table of data after inserting or deleting a row using ADF".

I spent a lot of time on it because I needed help in implementing simple CRUD functionality on a table, using JSF-ADF-TopLink technologies.
While the the article does provide correct steps, it is in one important place not specific enough, so the reader may easily get stuck. In section "Refresh the data table", point 1: when you double click on the removeEntity() button, in Structure window, then you do not get the required dialog. You get CommandButton Properties dialog.
You must click on the removeEntity() button in Editor's Design view. But even there you may get the CommandButton Properties dialog, not managed beans dialog.
You may resolve that by going to JSF configuration file, faces-config.xml, and switch to Overview view. This will show you the managed beans that you have.
Then, you may already have a backing bean for the page. You can use that and avoid creating a new managed bean.
I could understand what the operations mean only after very careful reading of "Creating More Complex Pages", section "Overriding Declarative Methods" in JDeveloper Help (or in ADF Developer's Guide PDF document).
In general: I believe that "ADF bindings" need more conceptual explanation, maybe in form of an article. Grammatical form "bindings" may create a false understanding that "bindings" are just references. But they are not -- ADF bindings are active objects that handle traffic between UI components and Data Controls. It seems that "bindings" even communicate among themselves. Maybe it would be more understandable to differentiate strictly between "binding objects" (or "binders"?), binding object definitions and binding object references.
It would be very helpful to have a diagram showing grahically what specific binder objects are created in a small apllication (2-3 pages using 1-2 tables), with whom they communicate and what type of data is passed on.

My second question is, why when you use refresh button in IE (I know is not recommended as You said, but sometimes user do it, so I want prevent situations that I will describe here) so when I press refresh button in IE exactly after removing one row by clicking my button, refreshing by pressing IE button is doing the same --> is deleting next row. How to stop deleting row, when for example user would press IE refresh button after pressing remove button for table. If I change selection in table after deleting row, and press refresh button in IE, instead of deleting row, I got error message: JBO-29000: JBO-35007: and
JBO-35007. So where Im doing wrong. Maybe I should do sth with postback ? Could You help me? Thanks in advance

How to refresh a table with multiple joins

Hi,
First at all, I'm newby in ADF, and my english is no so good, sorry for that...
I'm using JDeveloper 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.3.0). I have a table created from a view object that have multiple joins with other entities. When I insert a new row programmatically in one of the entities of the joins (not in the entitiy of the view object itself), the new row is created in the database correctly but the table don't show it. What can I do to refresh the table to see the new row created?

You have to update the iterator the table is based on for the ui last. You do that by executing the query on the iterator again.

How to restrict the entries of a database table based on the user name

Hi All,
I have created a Database Table. Table maintenance generator is generated for the table.
UNAME(user name) is one of the fields in the table. whenever the user creates a new entry, the field UNAME will be populated automatically with SY-UNAME value. I have used Table event '05' to do this.
My requirement is...
When a user tries to maintain the entries of the table using SM30, when 'DISPLAY' is chosen, all the records of the table should be displayed.
When 'MAINTAIN' is chosen, only those records which have UNAME = SY-UNAME(User Logged in) should be in EDIT mode. and rest all the records should be in DISPLAY mode(greyed out). It should allow to edit only those records which are created by the user logged in.
Could you please tell me how to do this..? Thanks in advance.

In table main. gen there are number of events , try to select one event like 05 for the Sy-uname.
For the requirement:
In that event write the code like
this is basic idea not the code:
Case ' Sy-ucomm'.
when 'display'. " button
Nomally for the display button it will show all the records, but we need to write a code like this.
select all records frm the table.
( Need to write the code in case if the user first maintained the data then again press the display , list has to be refreshed.)
when ' Maintain'. " button.
Fetch the records that are with SY-UNAME and find out the edit function and implement it on each and every record.

Not updating database table after editing using theADFapplicationJdev10.1.3

I created the Sample Browse and Edit JSF JSP page oracle ADF application as explained in the cuecards in Jdev10.1.3.
After editing the department table rows in browser i am checking the database tables for the changes.
But my table are still with the old data.they are not updating with the values i changed in the browser.
i followed the steps correctly as explained in cuecards.
where i am going wrong.
What i have to do to commit the changes in to database in my ADFApplication.Did i need anything to add my code.

In Jdev 10.1.3,there is no operations folder directly under the Application data module control.
there is only constructors,merge entity,persist entity,refresh entity,remove entity and findalldepartments(),findallemployeeas() nodes under the application data module control.
In findalldepartments,findallemplloyees the operations node is there.under that i don't have the commit .i have only create,execute,first,previous,last,next,delete,removerowwithkey,setcurrentRowWithkey,setcurrentRowWithkeyValue under the operation node.
so how can i commit the operations in database.

i need your help in identifying the database table where the MRP Run results are saved , this is needed for creating a custom report similar to MD45(but for entire plant) where i can look and pull the sum of all the receipts and issues, ATP Quantity for a given material in a particular plant

Refresh database structure

I'm using VB.net 2013 , Entity Framework 6 , SQL server 2008R2 and SMO.
I have the application that use the database.
But sometime I make changes to database structure , and I want to add to my application a "Refresh Database" command.
Let's say that I have a database model called "Model" ( as a .bak file). The refresh command should compare the current database with this model and after make all the changes needed to make the current database up to date according to model.
How this can be done using SMO ?

Do you think that creating a new database and migrating data it's more easy ?
Let's get an example :
The new Model.bak contains only a new field in one of the tables comparing with the current database.
Do you think that only for 1 field , I should create a new database and migrate thousand of records ? After that of course I should make additional work to make this "New database" connect with my program because I use Entity framework that
is created with wizard on design time with the database ( that have a specific name ) , and the new database have another name.
So I think is more easy to add this new field to the current database ( so make a "Refresh" ) and end of the story.
what do you think ?

For such a scenario adding only one more field, what you should do in the upgrade is neither to restore nor to "refresh", the only approach is to run the ALTER table script to add the column when your upgrade wizard fires. This approach should be
applied to the cases that there's not much modification in your "model". For the cases which are more complex, the restore and migration is the option.

Why you don't like the word "Refresh". I like to call this process refresh , but we can call how we want.
The point is that I want to do this process within my application . I don't know what do you mean with "When your upgrade wizard fire ?"
Is possible to use the Alter table script in vb.net inside my application and what are the steps ? But of course I want to make this process general so regardless of how many field are added , this process should work. But how can I compare first the
current database with new model to find out what are the changes that I should made ?
And what you consider "too much modification "
The modifications on new "Model.Bak" may be :
- One (or some ) field(s) are added to one (or several ) existing table(s).
- One (or some ) field(s) are deleted to one (or several ) existing table (s).
- One (or some ) field(s) in one (or several ) existing table (s) have a different type.
- A new table is added to database
- A new table is added that have a new relationship with an existing table
- 2 or more new tables are added that may have relationship between each other.
On your opinion , which of these modifications can be done without migration and inside my application ?
For the others , why do you think that cannot be done without migrating ? Because it's impossible to do , or is difficult ?
In my opinion ( of course I can be wrong because I don't know ) these may be the steps :
1) Get one by one the tables in "Model.Bak"
2) With each table , first detect if this exist in the current database
3) If not exist , create the table ( or copy from Model ???? I don't know if can be done ).
4) If exist , compare one by one the fields , and if a field doesn't exist , add the new field. If a field exist but has a different type , change the type. After detect if one of fields in current database doesn't exist on model. If so , delete that field.
5) If a new relationship exist , add the new relationship
If you agree with these steps , which of them may be impossible to be done ?
Or if can be done , how can I realize each of these steps inside my program in vb.net ?
