Refreshing the screen using a View Object

Hi Experts,
Here is my requirement.
I have a View Object which queries the database and displays the results.
So I want to my VO to be executed when I click on Refresh button.
How can I achieve this?
Is there any example for this?
Thanks in advance

I think the mistake u did is populating the collection/entity of your custom view in some other place rather than on_new_focus method of the context class. So when u first time come to the view, it is calling your custom code and populating your custom view. But when u click new, it is not executing that method and it is not refreshing. on_new_focus is called everytime
you change to new or open in edit mode..that method should be declared as event handler method..
Move your code to the on_new_focus method of the particular context node. see standard codes how that is created and used...
e.g. you can see the component/view BT112H_SC/Details, context node BTPARTNERSET and method CREATE_BTPARTNERSET of CL_BT112H_S_DETAILS_CTXT of how it is used.

  • Scrolling - I want my site to be central on screen, so I have pined it, yet if the screen using to view is smaller than mine, it wont scroll? even though it shows scroll bars.

    I have designed a wide site so the background fills the screen on all size monitors. However because I have pined it to the top and central it wont scroll on smaller screens. How do I keep the site central when first opened and allow it to scroll vertically?

    Hi Chris
    That is a default behavior where the page content is wider but the resolution or browser window is smaller, then browser will add auto scroll.
    I have checked the site with a lower resolution and I can scroll down the page vertically and horizontally , is that you see the issue with any specific resolution or browser ?

  • Can a web service be used as the datasource for a View Object?

    Has anyone used a web service as the datasource for a View Object?
    I am trying to do the same thing as "Publishing BC4J Components as a Web Service" example, except I want to recreate the View Objects on the client so that I can iterate through them and display them on a web page.
    I probably have two choices:
    1. Use the web service as the datasource.
    2. Use a file as the datasource with no data and then populate the View Objects from the XML from the Web Service.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    You can adapt the examples provided in the BC4J Toy Store demo for how to build a programmatically-populated view object to create a view object that fetches its data from a web service.
    The methods that you need to override are the same for any kind of programmatically-populated view object.

  • Refreshing the screen that has af:table

    Hi,
    I have an Entity X, and I have an Edit screen where I can update attributes values of X Objects. On the Edit screen(JSPX), I have OutputText, InputText, selectOneChoice, selectBooleanCheckbox, and af:table components. On the Edit Screen I also have copy capability, the user can pick another Object of X and copy all its attributes values to the current object. When the copy is done, the copied values are instantly displayed on the screen for all the components except the af:table components(certain rows should be selected after the copy is done). I tried to refresh the page using the below code but didn’t help
    protected void refreshCurrentPage(){
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    String currentView = context.getViewRoot().getViewId();
    ViewHandler vh = context.getApplication().getViewHandler();
    UIViewRoot x = vh.createView(context, currentView);
    context.setViewRoot(x);
    x.setViewId(context.getViewRoot().getViewId());
    I tried to add the table as a partialTrigger using the below code but that didn’t help
    AdfFacesContext adfContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    adfContext.addPartialTarget(compsTableComponent);
    I have been struggling with this for days, can anyone suggest any solutions to it. I use ADF Business Components
    Thanks :(

    Hi,
    you lost me in the listing of components and what they do on the edit page. But I think that they are irrelevant for the question you ask anyway. So here are the options
    1) call facesContext.getExternalContext.redirect("/yourViewId.jspx");
    or
    2) try refreshing the surrounding cotainer of the table. Sometimes its not the component you need to refresh, but the parent container

  • How to Use Transient View Objects to Store Session-level Global Variables

    hi
    Please consider section "40.8.5 How to Use Transient View Objects to Store Session-level Global Variables"
    at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/bcstatemgmt.htm#ADFFD19610
    Based on this documentation I created the example application
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.01.zip
    It behaves as show in the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/qDvSQCgpvYdd
    Its Application Module has a Transient View Object instance "MyEmployeesContextVOVI", as master for the child View Object instance "EmpInCtxJobVI".
    On rollback the Transient View Object instance keeps its row and attribute values.
    Also when passivation and activation is forced (using jbo.ampool.doampooling=false ) the Transient View Object instance seems to keep its row and attribute values.
    questions:
    - (q1) Why does the expression #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.transactionDirty} evaluate as true when a Transient View Object instance attribute value is changed (as shown in screencast at http://screencast.com/t/qDvSQCgpvYdd )?
    - (q2) What would be a robust approach to make a Transient View Object instance more self-contained, and manage itself to have only one single row (per instance) at all times (and as such removing the dependency on the Application Module prepareSession() as documented in "5. Create an empty row in the view object when a new user begins using the application module.")?
    many thanks
    Jan Vervecken

    Thanks for your reply Frank.
    q1) Does sample 90 help ? http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/
    Yes, the sample from Steve Muench does help, "90. Avoiding Dirtying the ADF Model Transaction When Transient Attributes are Set [10.1.3] "
    at http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/#90
    It does point out a difference in marking transactions dirty by different layers of the framework, "... When any attribute's value is changed through an ADFM binding, the ADFM-layer transaction is marked as dirty. ...".
    This can be illustrate with a small change in the example application
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.02.zip
    It now shows the result of both these expressions on the page ...
    #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.transactionDirty}
    #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.dataProvider.transaction.dirty}... where one can be true and the other false respectively.
    See also the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/k8vgNqdKgD
    Similar to the sample from Steve Muench, another modification to the example application introduces MyCustomADFBCDataControl
    at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.03.zip
    public class MyCustomADFBCDataControl
      extends JUApplication
      @Override
      public void setTransactionModified()
        ApplicationModule vApplicationModule = (ApplicationModule)getDataProvider();
        Transaction vTransaction = vApplicationModule.getTransaction();
        if (vTransaction.isDirty())
          super.setTransactionModified();
    }Resulting in what seems to be more consistent/expected transaction (dirty) information,
    see also the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/756yCs1L1
    Any feedback on why the ADF Model layer is so eager to mark a transaction dirty is always welcome.
    Currently, question (q2) remains.
    regards

  • Dynamically change the Binding of a view object

    I want to reuse a panel several times in my application. The VO has one bind parameter (:1). The same panel should be reused several times with different bind variables.
    I found a technical note concerning this issue called: How to Dynamically Change the binding of a View Object to a JClient Panel. This works for JDeveloper 9i but not for JDeveloper 19g. Does anybody know how to dynamically change the binding in JDeveloper 10g

    You may use bindRowSetIterator() and pass in a custom fetched ViewObject or a RowSetIterator to the iterator binding that is displayed in your panel.

  • Insert data into multiple entities at once using a view object

    Hi,
    I'm trying to insert data into multiple entities at once using a view object, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. The two entities have a 1:1 association. I created a view object which contains both entities and I made sure they aren't read-only. But like I said it doesn't work, I can't insert data in both entities at once... :(
    Is this possible? And how (if it is)?

    Is this possible? And how (if it is)? Peter:
    This is definitely supported and tested. Please send us the exception stack trace. You must running into other problems. A few things to note:
    A) You have to mark the entities as both updateable (not read-only) and not reference-only.
    B) If you're not seeing an exception stack, turn on diagnostic. Here is how:
    To turn on diagnostic, go to the IDE,
    1. Select the project.
    2. Do right mouse click and select "Project Settings..."
    3. On the Settings dialog, select Configurations/Runner.
    4. In the righthand side pane, you should see a textbox for "Java
    Options". Please add the following JVM switch:
    -Djbo.debugoutput=console
    Then, rerun. The run command should include
    -Djbo.debugoutput=console as in
    "D:\JDev9i\jdk\bin\javaw.exe" -Djbo.debugoutput=console -classpath ...
    You should now see a lot more output on the IDE's message window. Here you should see the exception stack trace.
    If you invoking your app directly from command prompt, just add "-Djbo.debugoutput=console" after your "java.exe".
    Thanks.

  • Using a view-object as a data web bean?

    Hi,
    When writing JSP pages, I'd like to have a web bean that allows basic data manipulation such as:
    - set up a row set - e.g. by specifying a view object and an (optional) where clause;
    - navigate this row set (first, next, etc.);
    - get or set the values of the attributes of the current row;
    - insert, update or delete a row;
    - commit or rollback the modifications;
    - etc.
    This bean should be "silent" - i.e. it would not have to be able to "render" anything - instead, I would use it in <%= bean.method() %> tags, or in <% ...java code... %> sections, in conjunction with other (custom) beans.
    I guess I could use a view object - but:
    1) How would I have to use it in a JSP context?
    2) Or, are there more appropriate objects to do this job?
    3) What methods could I use (i.e. where are they documented)?
    4) What pitfalls should I be aware of (most notably related to housekeeping after bean use)?
    Any information greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,

  • Using SQL view object to create ADF table

    Hi,
    I have created a column called "Month" (which extracts month from the date column) and another column to count the no. of requests.
    i want to create an ADF table with 2 columns, a column showing the month and another is showing the no. of requests for that month.
    However, now I only managed to achieve the ADF table to show the overall total requests, which means if i add up all the requests for all the months and i get 500
    My ADF table shows this:
    Jan: 500
    Feb: 500
    Mar: 500
    How should I create the view or what should I do to make it such that the no. of request is based on the month?
    Please advice.
    Thanks (:

    Hi,
    For the given situation you can create a Query Based View Object with the following query
    SELECT
    COUNT(TEMP1.DT) REQUEST,
    TO_CHAR(TEMP1.DT, 'Mon') MONTH
    FROM
    TEMP1
    GROUP BY
    TO_CHAR(TEMP1.DT, 'Mon')
    where DT is the date column and temp1 is the name of the database table.
    Following are the steps that i followed to get this query :
    i have taken the following sample table :
    create table temp1
    (srno number primary key,
    dt date)
    *Note you may use any existing column instead of srno or use dt only (i took an extra column as u know we need a primary key /row id)
    the following is the sample data
    insert into temp1 values (1,sysdate);
    insert into temp1 values (2,sysdate);
    insert into temp1 values (3,add_months(sysdate,1));
    insert into temp1 values (4,add_months(sysdate,1));
    insert into temp1 values (5,add_months(sysdate,3));
    insert into temp1 values (6,add_months(sysdate,5));
    the table appears as follows
    SRNO DT
    1 22-JUN-12
    2 22-JUN-12
    3 22-JUL-12
    4 22-JUL-12
    5 22-SEP-12
    6 22-NOV-12
    To start with ADF View Object Creation (Using Jdeveloper 11.1.2):
    Create the view object using Create View Object wizard
    In Step 1. Name window
    set the value for Name : Viewab (you can use any of ur choice)
    In the data source section : select query
    In Step 2. Query window
    a. Click Query builder (it will pop up sql statment window)
    b. In the SQL Statement window
    in quick-pick objects section -> select temp1 table -> shuttle the columns from available list to selected list
    in select clause section -> select srno column from select list-> choose count() function from function drop down list -> insert function -> set alias to REQUEST-> click validate
    now select dt column from select list -> choose to_char() function -> click insert function -> alter the function to to_Char(temp1.DT,'Mon') -> set alias to Month -> click validate
    in the group by clause section -> Click the green symbol to add -> from the expression palette insert dt column -> insert the to_char function -> alter the function to to_char(temp1.DT,'Mon') -> click validate
    in the Entire SQL Query section -> click test query -> in the test query window -> click query result-> you will see the result -> click close -> click ok
    Click next
    Step 3: Bind Variables
    Click Next
    Step 4: Attribute Mappings
    click Finish
    So the view object is ready :)

  • Modal popup window refresh the parent (calling) window/view

    I have a modal popup window that is adding detail records.  When this window is closed via the Hide method in my controller I would like to refresh the parent (calling) window/view.
    What is the best way to do this?
    Regards,
    Diane

    Here's my process.....
    2-windows & 3 views
    Window 1 - Selection View and Detail View
    Window 2 - Add View (used as a modal popup window called by a button click on the detail view)
    Selection View has all the options for obtaining a list of data for the detail view.  The detail view has an Add button.  Component controller has the hide method and access to the other components that do the update/query methods. On the detail view the user can click Add and a popup modal window shows.  User enters data and clicks either the add or cancel button.  The Detail view needs to refresh to show the additional data that has been added by the modal window.  There are calcuated values in the detail view from a supply function.  This function is not running and the values are not changed.
    What should be put in the hide method that will cause the detail view to obtain new data and supply the calculated values?  If I was using the Add view as part of the same window as the detail/selection views I'd just put in a navigation link between the detail and add views and fire the plug.  I like the idea of the popup window so I'd like to get this to work.
    I put the wdContext.initialize() in the hide method - which yes - caused the detail view to run - however the context lost all the key values so I received a data not found.  I then tried to initialize those nodes that did not contain the key values but the detail view did not display new values.
    Thanks for any ideas.....Diane

  • Have to keep refreshing the screen

    When I start up various applications under Firefox, the username and password are not always completed for me despite being stored. If I refresh the screen, then it works. Also, when using the back button in google, it takes me to a completely blank page instead of the list of returned items - again, if I refresh the screen, the correct list is displayed. This has only been happening in the last 2 weeks and it's driving me nuts.
    I've looked on this forum for answers but there aren't any that explain why this is only happening with Firefox. I left IE because of problems, don't tell me I have to now abandon Firefox too? Has anyone got a reliable platform out there for goodness sake?

    Ok. I think safe mode should be the next step then.
    I should have been more clear above. I didn't mean Windows Safe Mode. I was referring to Firefox's Safe Mode. See the article below:
    [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
    This basically starts Firefox up with all add-ons disabled and with a couple of changes to basic settings. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode then it is a good bet that some setting or add-on is causing the problem. You can then follow the instructions in that article to enable them one by one to identify the culprit.
    If the problem still occurs in Safe Mode then I suggest doing a Firefox Reset. See the article below. This will return Firefox to its defult settings. Your history, bookmarks etc will be saved but you will need to reinstall all your add-ons.
    [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]
    I hope that helps. Let me know if not.

  • No matter what I do, I cannot figure out how to refresh the screen, and so I can't even see what's new on my own website!

    I cannot refresh the screen, no matter what I try. The "restore" is not the same thing. So I always get old versions of websites, including my own. I cannot see a new version of any website I have visited previously. I need to know how to REFRESH my screen, and there is no way to do it!!!!!

    Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
    Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • Problem outputting to the screen using  FileDescriptor.out

    I have the following program that reads prime numbers from a binary file. The issue is that the numbers are not printing to the screen using
    FormatWriter out = new FormatWriter(
           new BufferedWriter(
           new FileWriter(FileDescriptor.out)));The numbers are being read from the file as if I unblock the line
    // System.out.println(primes[j]); the numbers are printed to the screen.
    I have pasted the code below and the code that creates the prime numbers file.
    Thanks for any help.

    Indeed. It isn't obvious to me what the result of new FileWriter(FileDescriptor.out) would result in, but your test appears to show that it doesn't result in something which can be used to output to the console.

  • Time trigger for refreshing the screen

    Hi all,
    How to implement the time trigger for refreshing the screen after some time interval .
    Thanks in advance .

    hello Naval ,
    set the delay propert Eg : 10
    in the on action of the Time trigger Ui
    invalidate the node of table .
    write the select query for retrivig the PO from table into Itab .
    bind the internal table to the node ...
    But for your requirement it will efficient if you implement POWL query .
