Refurbished Ipods - Are they worth the money?

Anyone got input on refurbished ipods?
Mine has a hard drive problem, not sure if I want to deal with the headache of replacing the hard drive, or just to buy a refurbished one.

I've bought several refurbished iPods from the Apple Refurbished Store for myself and my family. Apart from the different packaging, they've all been in new condition with no scratches or marks and have all performed flawlessly. In fact you've got more chance of a brand new, off-the-factory-line unit developing a fault than a refurbished unit as they are fully tested before being dispatched. They're covered by the same 1 year warranty as retail versions and you can purchase the Applecare policy as well. When you can save so much money, I would highly recommend refurbished iPods. The only negative is that as I live in the UK, the refurbished store doesn't have as a wide variety of iPods as in the US refurbished store and as stock levels can fluctuate, you can never guarantee that the iPod you want will be in the refurbished store at any one time.

Bought the two new versions and am very disappointed. Apple should be ashamed to pubish these versions and charge for them. I love Apple, but these versions don't live up to the standards set by Steve Jobs.

They're free downloads for anyone running the previous version. And if you don't have the previous version installed you can buy it on a major online retail store, install it, and get the new version for free while keeping the old version on your Mac. Two apps for the price of one.

  • My Droid Razr Maxx froze last night. It is not worth the money.

This is my 2nd Droid since June. The first I had for 2 weeks and the battery was draining in less than 24 hours. This one I got in the 3rd week of June. I bought it because I wanted a good phone camera - I rarely use data, it is used mainly for calls and texting . I DID send a pic to Facebook last weekend, and could not log out of Facebook. This might be the cause of following freezing, don't know). The screen started going crazy occasionally after having it a month. It does the same thing other people have posted - opens apps, opens text messages and types, has made calls, etc. It has also frozen. Last night it froze on me. I tried turning it off and the screen went blank. The battery was not low, but I plugged it in anyway - it didn't show that it was charging so I unplugged it and hoped it would be ok in the morning. Sometime in the night it beeped indicating I had a text. It did it again around 6:30 a.m.. When I got up, it still had the blank screen and the message light was flashing. I couldn't get a screen. I plugged it in to charge it and after app. 15 minutes my screen came up but it was still frozen. I've had two phone calls I couldn't answer. After app. an hour the screen went blank again, and the red circling image indicating it's turning on started and has now been running for about 30 minutes. I no longer have a land line and am going to have to drive 27 miles to a store to get it fixed when I need to be preparing for the coming hurricane. I'm posting this as additional evidence that something is wrong with these phones, and they are not worth the money.

When the RAZR/ RAZR MAXX freezes, you can hold down both the Power and the Volume Down button at the same time for about 7-10 seconds, until it flashes. This is what is called a "Soft Reset". You will not lose anything because of this reset.  As far as your battery time, 24 hours between charges might be considered good. It all depends on what apps you have installed, the location and signal of the towers for coverage, etc. I take mine off the charger around 5:00 AM, and when I go to bed at 10:00 PM, I am usually between 30-60%, depending on my usage during the day.

  • My friend is selling her ipod nano for 80$ Is it worth the money?

My friend is selling her ipod nano for 80$ Is it worth the money? What are the pros and cons? Thanks. No scratches

    Hello Chibi_usa,
What kind of ipod nano is it and how many GB?  Do a search in google or yahoo or ask and see what others are selling for. Do a comparison analysis. You can find your own pros and cons after doing this.
    Things that I look for:
    1. The model I want
    2. If it works
    3. If it has warranty
If that iPod fits that criteria, then it may be worth it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lanyard Headphones-why the shortage? Are they worth it?

Are they worth it? Why the shortage? When will they be available? I've had them on order from PCCONNECTION for 3 weeks with no product in sight...
    Thanks.

Well, the lanyard and tubes are still listed on this site:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/accessories.html
But I cancelled my order and went with a Zcover (comes with a lanyard) and the Sennheiser MX-400 ear buds... They have pretty decent sound for under $10.00 U.S. I just got sick of waiting and decided to let someone else test them and report back.

  • Is Quicktime Pro worth the money?

Like my subject says, I am considering purchasing the serial to upgrade to Quicktime Pro 7 and just wondering if it is actually worth the money or if the normal Quicktime is good enough?
    thanks

The Pro upgrade allows you to create content (start to finish) using QuickTime.
Things like image sequence imports (think claymation), adding images and audio to video, converting file formats (iPod come to mind) and dozens of other uses.
Nearly all of my "movies" are made using QuickTIme Pro and I've been a user (and buyer since version 3 was the first time they charged extra for it) for many years.
Take a few minutes trying some of my video links:
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/03war
to learn the power and versatility found in the Pro upgrade.

  • I'm debating to buy a touch, but is it worth the money?

basically, i have a 2nd gen nano that it really time for an upgrade (i love it, but its slowly dying) i'm debating whether to get a touch, as my family share a classic already, but i'm not sure its worth the money, as i'd buy the 32gb and 8gb isn't really enough for me.. any thoughts?

The advantages of an iPod Touch is that you can set it up to sync contacts, calendars and mail via wireless. The App Store has a huge number of applications which includes a large number of games, utilities for extending the capabilities of the iPod Touch such as wireless disk access, to do lists etc. There are many other categories of apps such as Educational, Reference, Navigation, Sports and News to name a few too. Many apps are free to download and use. The built in camera is good for catching those moments where going to fetch a camera may cause you to miss the moment you wanted to capture.
I would say it is worth the money but only if you can see value in the above features.
    Hope this helps

  • N bandwidth Vs. G Bandwidth...is it worth the money?

I currently use a G bandwidth Netgear router. It is hooked up to both macs and PCs, but sometimes its slow. I am just trying to figure out if in general it is worth spending the money to upgrade to N bandwidth?
None of my computers have an N bandwidth receiever, so that would have to be purchased as well.
    Please give me your input
    Thanks

Before you buy an AE for a mixed enironment, make sure you read the problems repored in this forum. I am an apple fan, but have a mixed enviornment at home. Is it worth the money, up to you, but be prepared for hours upon hours of tech support and forum help requests only to find additional frustration for the money you have spent. Apple products work extremely well with non apple routers. XP producs do NOT work very well with AE. Just read the pages and pages and pages on here of people asking for help trying to get XP products to work. I am one of them on here and the net result is I am sending my Airport Extreme back to Apple until they figure it all out. I will say, if you have XP make sure you are running with XP SP2, you are not trying to connect a desktop via a USP adapter and good luck trying to share your printer with your XP machines. Laptops tend work fine with XP, desktops, not very well.

  • Is it worth the money upgrading from Wireless-G to Wireless-N?

I have a Linksys Wireless-G router, and I'm think about getting a Linksys Wireless-N router. My notebook supports Wireless-N. Is it worth the money? What are the advantages of Wireless-N over Wireless-G? Thanks!

I just bought a N router since my notebook has a N card and unless I'm in the same room, I cant get more than 700kbs download which is not good.
I switch it to G however and its full speed anywhere in the house with great range. This is the second N router btw from 2 different makers and they both did the same thing.
(Edited post for guideline compliance. Thanks!)

  • I-Pod Games , Are they worth it?

are the new i-pod games really worth the money?

Everyone has their own opinion, but I have purchased two of the games, Mahjongg and Sudoko, and I enjoy them both. Not bored yet.

  • Is Macbook Pro 15-inch worth the money?

Is the entry level Macbook Pro 15 inch with specs at the time of this writing worth the money ? I am a student who does the usual school stuff, web surfing, and quite heavy gaming(Like FIFA).I am considering to purchase a Macbook as I was enticed by its design and Mac OS Lion's smooth, fun and enjoyable user interface. Having taken a number of trips to Apple Stores, I actually want to buy the 15" Pro(13" can't run FIFA and 17" is too heavy)) However, one can never know if I he or she does not actually try it out. So, I want to ask all users who use Macbook Pro 15, are Mac OS X and design things that are worth extra money for?

They are to me.  Whether they are or not to you, no one but you can say.
Honestly, the question you have asked is impossible for anyone to answer.  For those responding who own a MBP, especially people like myslef who have been buying and using Apple laptops since before the iBook, the answer will be yes, they are worth it to us (why else would we keep buying Apple laptops?).
It's purely a personal decision as only you can decide what is "worth it" to you.
I primarily buy Apple hardware because I prefer the OS X operating system over the alternatives (Windows or Linux, while OS X gives me the perfect blend of CLI UNIX and a GUI), and I have been very satisfied with their hardware as well.

  • Is the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS worth the money for Final Cut Express?

    Hi,
I'm considering a new iMac 24, but not sure if the speedier on is worth the money.
Currently I use a MacBook Pro 2.2 for Final Cut Express with a 23" cinema (mostly DV, some HD) and that works okay, but won't play back in real time when I composit video.
Anybody know if the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS will help in that area?
    Thanks,
    KC

The speedier video card is great for 3D stuff, but it won't matter a wink for Final Cut Express, which barely makes use of the video card.
Keep in mind that Final Cut is using the CPU, not video card, to perform the editing, decoding, and encoding of the video. The only time the video card comes into play is during playback of the video, and any of the video options available for iMacs will handle that just fine.
When you composite video, the hard-disk throughput will start to come into play. The dinky 5400 RPM disk in your laptop will adversely affect the performance of that.

I did my masters in just computer sciences, but if I had something like this available I would have gone for it. But there are a couple of factors to consider. One is will there be good campus recruitments and what is the rate absorption of candidates for this course. Second question, do I really want to persue this field as my career. ERP is the concept that revolves around the business. So you should have an aptitude for learning how a business operates and functions.
The course curriculum looks good particularly because it includes topics on Supply Chain Management and Business Process Engineering which are relatively new.
Another good aspect of it is that it is giving this course with SAP as an example tool. SAP is the leading ERP software company(and many more products are added to its portifolio now).
Is it worth the money? That you have to decide. You can do a regular masters in computer science, but get a job in a company that trains you in SAP, and learn everything on the job or take some traning from SAP training academies and then start on job. That is one option. But if you want to persue a career in building products in the ERP/SCM areas, then a formal education in that area will be useful. But if you are just interested in implementing existing products then it is not a must.
Hope I gave you some information that is useful. Please don't forget to reward appropriately for helpful answers and close when completely answered.

  • MOVED: HDTV Tuner Cards? Is there one that it is worth the money?

This topic has been moved to Anything Under The Sun.
HDTV Tuner Cards? Is there one that it is worth the money?

All Adobe Trial versions are full versions that allows you do everything with it including you also get updates for it.  The only limitation is TIME.  you only get 30 days to do whatever you want to do so if you are a photographer then you will need to buy the full version if you want to continue doing what you like doing most.  Amazon has the best price/deal I have seen so far.
    Good luck.

Im looking for a MacBook that is worth the money and decent for gaming and editing, any suggestions?
    There all so AWESOME!

Then you are best to get a Macbook Pro. Your real aim should be the graphics card.
You won't be doing really good gaming on a discrete graphics card sharing RAM.
Depending of coarse what games you play.
eg. card games / COD games.
