Reg SYS Password in Password file

Hi,
A Password file was created a long ago in PROD and Used for DR also.
Now no one knows the sys password used for creating the file.
Is there any method to get it back.
Any Method other than creating new file and updating in the DR site.
Thanks in Advance.

Krishna,
No there is no method to get it back. You must recreate the password file to change the password.

  • Purpose of PASSWORD in password file?

    So im re-reading through my notes and doing more practical excercises and came across this...
    remote_login_authentication=exclusive
    So I created a new password file via ORAPWD and set the password=jda
    i created a new user called jda_dba identified by jda_dba and then did
    GRANT sysdba to jda_dba
    I start a new sqlplus session and login as
    jda_dba
    jda dba as sysdba
    This is all fiine and i understand the concept of the password file - simple
    I can also login as sys and system using their password no problem
    What i dont understand is the use of the password i set when i created the password file of "password=jda"
    What is the purpose of this?
    Thanks
    Amanjit

    password=XXXXX is sys as sysdba password.

  • Starting up a database when I forgot the sys and system password

    Hi,
    I want to startup up a database from Oracle Entreprise Manager. I forgot the sys and system password.
    If I give the command:
    orapwd file=orapwSDB01 password=test entries=100
    can I give the password "test" to sys and then to connect with sys with password test as sysdba, and then to startup the database? Are any problems with this command?
    Thank you,
    Mihaela

    Hi,
    I have not done this myself, but YES, according to the documentation, thats correct.
    ORAPWD FILE=mypwdfile PASSWORD=syspass ENTRIES=10
    will set the password of SYS to syspass. And you can use the same further.
    But here, you should be in oracle user or the user which owns the Oracle installation.
    Also, OS authentication is always supperior than any other authentication.

  • I forgot sys and system password

    Dear All,
    I installed oracle database 9.2.0.6 one year ago and I am using this database for RMAN.
    Today I need it to do something else but I really forgot the sys and system password and i dont know what to do.
    I appreciate your help on that.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    >>I really forgot the sys and system password
    Really ? or are you trying to hack the database ? :-)
    You can try this too:
    Use the orapwd utility in order to re-create the SYS password...
    e.g.: orapwd file=orapw<SID> password=adm entries=5
    Cheers

  • I can no longer access a password protected Numbers file with the correct password. Error message only says the file "cannot be opened."

    I'm using Numbers version 3.2.2.
    Suddenly I cannot access my password protected Numbers file with the correct password. I have the correct password written down so I know I haven't made a mistake.
    The response box that pops up says that the file cannot be opened. There are no other options for me to choose from.

    Also, I tried to open it through an older version of Numbers but it sent this error message.

  • HT3345 How do I open a password protected excel file created on a PC?  I get a message that the "file is encrypted and can't be opened"

    How do I open a password protected excel file created on a PC in numbers 09, on a MacBook Air?  I get a message that the "file is encrypted and can't be opened"

    This is actually not true; I support users who are doing this w/ Excel 2011 (v14.2.2+) for Mac and Windows users w/ Excel 2003 & 2007.  Win users are from finance dept, and who have pasword-protected various budget files.  The Mac users are (surprise) "creative" users, who enter pw to unlock and edit these budget files.
    These files are shared from a Mac server (running 10.6.8 server), and I do have an erratic problem where all users have read-only access to these pw-protected Excel files.  The manual work-around has been to copy the troublesome file(s) and confirm users have full access again.  I also do a shuffling of filenames, so that the new, working file has original file name.
    FYI: the Mac server POSIX and ACL permissions are correct, and don't appear to be source of the problem.
    It's easy an SMB file-locking issue or concurrent users trying to edit these files.  I keep reminding them that Excel is not a database!

    Hey guys, how can i password protect my files in external hard drive? I want to access those files both from mac and windows PC!

    If you want a cross-platform solution that doesn't require the use of third-party software, use an external drive with hardware encryption. The device will have either a physical key or a numeric keypad. I don't have a specific recommendation.

  • Password Protected PDF Files in Elementary OS

    I have installed Acrobat 9.5.5 on my Elementary OS (Ubuntu base) system but when I try to open a password protected PDF file from my bank Acrobat fails with the error "There was an error opening this document. An updated version of Acrobat is needed in order to open this document.".
    The version that I have installed claims to be 9.5.5 04/26/2013.
    Has anyone got any pointers?
    Thanks

    Well,  first, you probably don't have Acrobat 9.5.5 installed on Ubuntu unless you are running a VM image or using WINE to do so.  You are probably using Adobe Reader 9.x.  If a file was encrypted for Acrobat X and later then you do actually need Adobe Reader version 10.x or later.  Unfortunately there isn't a version 10.x for UNIX/LINUX.  What to do?  Use a VM or WINE and load it up that way.  If you really are running Acrobat 9.5.5 on Ubuntu via a VM image or WINE then you need to load Adobe Reader 10.x or Adobe Reader 11.x.

  • Acrobat 8.1 and C# - How can you detect password protected PDF files?

    I am modifying our existing C# code that opens PDF files.  But when ever we hit a password protected file, we are prompted for a password.  This is an automated process, so if we detect a password protected file, we move the file to a manual processing folder to be processed later.
    We are using Acrobat 8.1 Standard.
    Our code looks like this:
    using
    System;
    using
    System.Collections.Generic;
    using
    System.Linq;
    using
    System.Text;
    using
    Acrobat;
    using
    System.IO;
    using
    Word = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word;
    using
    System.Reflection;
         AcroApp app = new AcroApp();     app.Hide();
         try
              if (app != null)          {
                   app.CloseAllDocs();
                   AcroAVDoc av = new AcroAVDoc();
                   if (av.Open(filename, "Test") == true)               {
                        AcroPDDoc doc = new AcroPDDoc();                    doc = (
    AcroPDDoc)av.GetPDDoc();
                        doc.Save((
    short)Acrobat.PDSaveFlags.PDSaveFull,
                        Utilities.GeneratePath(FileVersion.TEMP) + fi.Name.RemoveFileExtension() + ".PDF");                    doc.Close();
         catch (Exception ex)     {
              ErrorLog.LogError(filename.RemoveFileExtension(), ex);     }
         finally
              app.CloseAllDocs();
              app.Exit();
    This works great for non-password protected PDF files, but it prompts for a password if the file is password protected.  I was looking at the FileOpenEX functionality, but I can not find the reference to bring into my C# project.  It looks like it is only for C++, since I could only find C++ examples.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    There are no methods in the Acrobat SDK for C# for what you wish to accomplish.

  • How to split a password-protected PDF file?

    There is a tutorial to let you know how to split a password-protected pdf file, check in here:http://www.kvisoft.com/tutorials/split-a-password-protected-PDF-file.html

    Yup. You all are right. I ordered Adobe Acrobat today and the order is still processing. I can get to Adobe Acrobat.com but that too does not work. I guess I will have to wait until my order is processed before I get the keys to the kingdom. Thanks for your help and please forgive my ignorance.Regards,Bob

    hi,
    To populate data in different column you may use the below code.
    DATA : filename TYPE string VALUE  "Path
    DATA :BEGIN OF wa_string,
                   data TYPE string,
              END OF wa_string.
    DATA : it_data LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF wa_string,
               data  TYPE string.
    DATA: v_tab TYPE char1.
    v_tab = cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.
    CONCATENATE 'happy' 'new year'  INTO wa_string-data SEPARATED BY v_tab.
    APPEND wa_string TO it_data .
    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'
      EXPORTING
        filename              = filename
      TABLES
        data_tab              = it_data.
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    ENDIF.

  • OBIEE 11g having problems with password protected PDF files.

    I have been able to get an analysis in OBIEE 11g to display PDF files.
    However, some of these documents contain sensitive information and must be secured. Since anyone with access to the file name
    could simply type in the proper path in the browser window, this is unacceptable. In order to try and prevent this, I created a pdf file
    that is protected with a password.
    Opening the file by itself, produces the desired results. The password is requested before the file will open.
    When I open the file through my analysis in OBIEE, Adobe reader activates, but the password is not requested and the file does not open.
    It is as if OBIEE is somehow not sensing that Adobee is asking for a password.
    Does anyone have any experience with this?

    FYI, in case anyone is interested, I found out what is going on.
    I created the original password protected PDF using Microsoft Word. I did this because I do not have a full version of Adobe Acrobat that allows me to create files.
    On a hunch, I found someone that has a full version of Acrobat, and had them create a password protected PDF file. This file worked perfectly.
    Apparently, Word is not strictly adhering to PDF guidelines, and OBIEE senses the differences, resulting in the file not opening properly.
    Something to keep in mind for anyone linking to password protected PDF files in OBIEE.
