Reg. Views in BW

Hi
greetings.
what are views in bw.
thanks

[email protected]

Hi,
Where it will get stored and how to retrieve back those views?
As mentioned by Durairaj, the view would be available in the saved views of BW System. To have a look follow these steps:
1) Go to Programs -> Business Explorer -> Analyser
2) From the BW Toolbar -> Click on folder icon (open) -> Saved views
3) This will prompt you to logon
4) Search for the technical name you had given. You will find it there.
How to retrive and view in portal.
As mentioned above, you can retrieve it back from the BW System. Now, as to how to view it on Portal, this is exactly the same report which you had opened and saved with a different technical name. Which means, only the technical name has changed but the query string still remains the same and thereby the report is still the same.
Once he saved the view, all other who login and view the report in portal, they should see only the view saved by the administator.
But this report still remains the same. This view is no different from the report which you opened and then saved with a different technical name.
I want to hide the save view option in the report
Not sure if you can do this for a set of users.
you have sso configured between portal and BW server, if yes the authentication pop up should not come.
if you dont want to do sso between portal and bw server and still want to logon to BW query with anonymous user,
in you bw server go to transaction sicf and navigate to DEFAULT_HOST->SAP->BW->BEX and double click on bex node in the resulting window, log on details section provide a default userid/password

  • Reg View of Workbook

    Hi all,
I have formatted a query  view ( By changing Fonts/column width etc ) and saved as workbook in your favorites in the Browser.
When we execute the workbook thru the browser we get the format that has been saved. However, we loose the format when you click the Refresh Button.  My question is
How to set permanent settings so that formatting remains same as has been designed in the workbook?
    regards
    sirisha

    hi ,
A part of i accept mathew words...adding to that i guess this procedure will help....
In Excel using BW, you have to categorize as 2 different types of cells.
You have "Excel" Cells and "BW" Cells.  You can determine which you are in by selecting a cell and right mouse clicking.  If you get the BW options (Drilldown, Swap, Insert.....) then you are in a BW Cell.  If you get the standard (Cut, Copy, Paste) you are in the Excel Cells.
If you are formatting an Excel Cell, Format using the option from the Excel Menu.  If it is a BW Cell, Format using the option from the BW Toolbar (5th button from right).
When you refresh you will retain your settings.
Also, as a hint,  you don't have to select all of your BW cells when formatting.  Select a characteristic and format using the BW toolbar and all characteristics will format.  Same goes for key figures, Free characteristics etc.
BW uses the "BW Style Tool"to format.  For more detail and customization follow the below steps:
    1. Download OSS Note #300570.
    2. On your machine
Find / Execute SAPBEXS.XLA -> Click Enable Macros.
experts if am wrong please add light on my words

  • Reg view.congure file

    Hi guys
This is Raj and working with MI and MAM in specefic. In order to map the cusotmer extended view files and standard view description files, do we need to create our own "view.configure" file because the war file does not have view.configure file.
    Please advice
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
Yes, you will need to create your own <i>view.configure</i> file in the <i>/app-root/WEB-INF/</i> folder in your project. Don't worry mCAF will look for it by default. Also, if you have custom implementation create the <i>zcore.configure</i> file to map the interface classes to their implementations. Make sure to stick to this naming, as it is hard coded.

    Ted

  • Reg., View

    Question
Is there a way to retrieve the actual columns &expressions of a view, using a SQL Statement ?
    Background
I have a view based on some tables & views. The tables lying below the view will vary from time to time and for different parts of the world, in their own databases. (agreed thats not the best way of doing it, but you know all these tables exist for a long period and lot of other applications are built around these tables locally in all the global locations)
The view has 178 columns and its been a big pain to back track, from which table/column is a view column derived,(again for different countries it varies). I can always take a look at the select statement and find out. Still I want to automate the process and hence tryig to build a query that returns:
    View_col View column Name
    Actual_table Actual Table name
    Actual_col Actual Col name
    Expression Substr,Trunc,To_char, etc...
Pls pass on some suggestions to achieve the same. I am being told that its not possible,
still wanted to give it another try.
    Madhu.

I think that the only way to achieve this is that you process the SQL that creates the view (in USER_VIEWS or DBA_VIEWS). I have no knowledge of a table that stores the type of information that you want.

  • Reg: View column datatype

    Hi Team,
While creating the views, column automatically converted into varchar2(81) data type from number datatype.
but stage1 table has legacy_trx_number is number data type and statg2 table has header_num is number data type.
Just i added the highlighted part in the view. So automatiicaly converted number to varchar2 datatype. How to keep data type remain the same as source stage table datatype even though those columns used in the view.
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW test_view  AS
        SELECT h1.legacy_trx_number
          ||'.'
          ||h2.header_num legacy_trx_number,
          h1.legacy_trx_date,
          h1.ledger_id,
          h1.legal_entity_id,
          h1.header_record_identifier,
          h2.header_num,
          h2.gl_date,
          h2.header_value_full,
          h2.header_value
        FROM stage1 H1,
          stage2 H2
      WHERE h1.header_record_identifier = h2.header_record_identifier;
Please help give me suggestion on this.
    Thanks in advance.

You can do it like this!
    Example:-
    SQL> ed
    Wrote file afiedt.buf
      1  create view v_num_test
      2  as
3* select to_number(5478||'.'||87489) result from dual
    SQL> /
    View created.
    SQL> select * from v_num_test;
        RESULT
    5478.87489
    SQL> desc v_num_test
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    RESULT                                             NUMBER

  • Reg: View Syntax

    Hi All,
Could you please tell me , what is the difference between the below two statements and how it works. In one of the forum recent posts i have seen it.
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emp_vw (empno, ename, deptno, log_date, inp_emp) as SELECT empno, ename, deptno, SYSDATE, 'SYS' FROM emp;
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emp_vw as SELECT empno, ename, deptno, SYSDATE, 'SYS' FROM emp;
    Thanks,

The answer is - as so often - in the documentation: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/statements_8004.htm#SQLRF01504
Have you tried the statements? I guess not, or else you'd have noticed that the second one doesn't work:
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emp_vw as SELECT empno, ename, deptno, SYSDATE, 'SYS' FROM emp;
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emp_vw as SELECT empno, ename, deptno, SYSDATE, 'SYS' FROM emp
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00998: must name this expression with a column alias
And from the documentation regarding alias:
Specify names for the expressions selected by the defining query of the view. The number of aliases must match the number of expressions selected by the view. Aliases must follow the rules for naming Oracle Database schema objects. Aliases must be unique within the view.
If you omit the aliases, then the database derives them from the columns or column aliases in the query. For this reason, you must use aliases if the query contains expressions rather than only column names. Also, you must specify aliases if the view definition includes constraints.
A working alternative to the first statement would be
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emp_vw as SELECT empno, ename, deptno, SYSDATE as log_date, 'SYS' as inp_emp FROM emp;
, giving aliasses to the two expressions SYSDATE and 'SYS' in the SELECT of the view.

  • Reg:View Maintenance

    Hi Abapers,
One new field is being added to a joining table and view during upgrade activity.. I have accepted these changes to both joining table and view.. generated table maintenance successfully.. When i'm trying to delete the existing maintenance for view to re-generate again, i'm getting below error: J_1GSL_CTRL_V maintenance interface cannot
    deleted because of IMG link
Can someone please help me as how to regenerate this view maintenance...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Padmasri.

You don't have to delete your maintenance - just go into change mode and select 'Create Modules' 'Create maintenance screen' and 'New field/sec.table in structure'.
On the next popup select the screens you would like to have regenerated and select if you added key fields or secondary fields.
    That should do it.
The other option would be to remove the link from IMG - delete and regenerate the view maintenance - and put the link back into IMG.
    Hope that helps,
    Michael

  • Reg: View cluster

    Hello All,
How to find out the view cluster associated with a view ?

    Hi Srivijaya,
you may access table VCLSTRUC. In field OBJECT you should enter the name of the view, then in field VCLNAME you will get the view cluster name.
I hope it helps. Best regards,
    Alvaro

  • Re: Reg: View column datatype

    Hi All,
After changing it, I was getting the output like for legacy_trx_number.
    220135.1
    220135.2
    220135.3
    220135.4
    220135.5
    220135.6
    220135.7
    220135.8
    220135.9
    220135.1 -- It should be 220135.10 after converting into to_number(h1.legacy_trx_number||'.'||h2.header_num legacy_trx_number)
    220135.11
    220135.12
    220135.13
    220135.14
    220135.15
    220135.16
If it is varchar2 data type then i was gettign the correct output from view query output. can you let me know how to avoid this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

In addition to your previous thread, you have 3 choices: -
    1) If a table/view is created with number datatype with precession 2, then 220135.10 value will be stored as 220135.1 in it. In short number type ignores trailing zero after decimal.
    2)  You can stick to your view creation with varchar2 datatype.
    3) Or as Blu suggested, you can display using to_char with format code. Like for  TO_CHAR( 220135.1, 'FM999999.00' ). But along with this, your all decimal part( before 10) will also have a trailing zero with them.
    Thanks!

  • Embed a view in a Tab

    Hi all,
As I am new to WebDynpro,I have a doubt. Can anyone clarify this.
I have a Home page which is having 1 tabstrip with 5 tabs.
And I have a seperate view for Employee registration form.
But I want to Embed this Employee reg Form to one of the tabs in tab strip.
Is there any way to do this?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Karthik,
You can use a ViewContainer UI Element for this purpose. In the Home Page, right click on the Tab Content in the outline and insert a ViewContainer UI Element and give it a name. Then goto the Component->Windows and the name you have given for the ViewContainer will appear in the homepage view;right click on that and choose the option embed view and the Employee reg view into that viewcontainer. hope this helps you.

When the respective user , when doing MM01 Trnx, systems allows him to select further more screens in MM01 - Select view option.
Plz clarify How to have control on it- What IMG need to done, plz
    Regards,

    Hi,
select views is only the default views that are selected for that user, not to prevent user selecting more views.
Views that are preselected in the Select View(s) dialog box
Here, you can define for a combination of user and screen sequence that certain views appear as preselected in the Select View(s) dialog box.

  • Urgent!!!!!!!!!!!Reg retrieving data from a view in the data base

    Hi All,
My problem is that i need to retrieve some data from V_TTDS which is a VIEW in the ABAP-Dictionary.How can i accomplish this task.

    Hi,
    this is a maintenance view
so you cannot write the select query
but you can write the select query on TTDS
    TTDST tables
as these are the two tables involved in this
this is the condition maintained to get this view
    TTDS     MANDT     =     TTDST     MANDT
    TTDS     TPLST     =     TTDST     TPLST
    select a~field
              b~field1
from ttds as a inner join
ttdst as b on atplst  =  btplst
    into table itab
    where conditions
    then it will work
